A/n:requested by Betsyangel9 ^^ I am soooooooooooooooooooooooo sorry for my absence,i know i am horrible! But i tried to make it up to you with an oneshot people vote for on my wall!So i put this idea as an option and it was a win with 7 votes, and then a Scott oneshot with 4,a Christmas theme with 2 and a few with Merman Jeremy and Fritz.I am so happy Fritz and Scott get love, they need more of it ;3; so yeah,i will do the others as well, just because they didn't got much votes, that doesn't mean i won't do them!(Also, this is longest oneshot in the history of my books,we are talking about 5.200 something words minus the author's note .3.)
White powder smeared along the (colour) of her skin.
Mixing wax and crashed red beetles, applying the vibrant colour along the soft surface of her lips.
The fire from the candle gently hit the one end of the black pencil stick, blowing it softly not to catch all of it on fire,as she drew beneath her eyes circles, and making her eyebrows more tense.
The fool's hat piece came along her head, giggling at the sound of the small bells that were hanging at the end of the hat piece.
She wore her dress piece that was split in half,in the colours of (favourite colour) and (favourite colour).
A touch of colour, painting the grey world of the small village she was living in.
"(Y/N)."
The voice of her friend came to her covered ears by the head piece, turning her head to the woman in the rather revealing dress who walked inside the run down shack.
"Are you ready? We need to get going."
"Almost done."She added some finishing touches, creating diamond shapes over her closed eyes with the pencil.
She wore the different colour shoes with the pointy toe going upwards, looking over to her friend with a smile.
"How do i look?"
Her friend smiled, grabbing a small basket."A fool as always."
"Excellent."
They both softly laughed, and exited their shack.
The spring time always had many people around the village, meaning earning many funny looks and stares.
A jesteress and a concubine walking and living together.
You bet they were the gossip of the village everytime.
"I am going to pick some things up for dinner tonight."
"I will try not to be late,i want to catch up with you before you leave for your work."
Her friend chuckled, gently patting her shoulder."Don't worry about it,now, have a nice fooling day!"
She waved with a smile, walking away into the crowd as people were giving her nasty looks and hungry eyes.
(Y/N) exhaled deeply from the attitude of the villagers but that didn't let her ruin her mood.
The market was full with people, meaning more coins.
A little girl was walking around holding her mother's hand, but she couldn't help but turn her gaze to the noticeable jesteress.
(Y/N) smiled, approaching the girl with silly movements, making her laugh.
She looked around,as if someone was watching them and the girl tried to hold back a laugh.
The jesteress giggled, but then rubbed slightly her nose, ready to sneeze.
And she did sneeze, covering her nose with her hands as a flower appeared.
The little girl's eyes sparkled and awed by that.
She smiled and handed her the flower, and the mother noticed her little act.
The girl looked up at the mother, who was smiling and nodded for her to take the flower.
"Thank you so much!"She took the flower into her small hands, softly giggling.
"My duty is your laughter."She said as she did a bow to them, making the small bells on her head piece move.
She giggled again, and then walked away with her mother.
Meanwhile,in a big castle, not too far away from the village, the king was located in his throne room, along with his trusty assistant.
"The preparations for the spring ball are going just as planned, the decorations are picked out,the food will be ready within the next few hours and your guests will be arriving just before the sunset." The assistant read out loud the list he was holding, lifting his brown eyes and looking over to the king."Is there anything else would you like your highness?"
The king's gaze was focused outside of the large windows, spacing out in his own little world.
"Your highness, are you paying attention to me?"
He blinked slightly,exhaling softly."Yes,i am sorry Scott,um."
He rubbed the brigde of his nose, before running his fingers through his long hair.
"I don't think we need anything else if everything is ready."
The tall dark brown haired male who was standing across him sighed, rolling up the list before he focused his gaze back to him.
"What's wrong?"
"Everything is fine, just i am tired."He stood up,walking towards the large windows and a small table with a jar of liquor and a cup on top of it was nearby.
He poured himself some of the red liquor, taking a large sip.
"Should i insist or it will be no use?"
He didn't say anything, taking another sip as his almost white eyes were gazing at the mainland beneath his castle.
"King Vincent?"
"I am scared,Scott."He turned around, facing him with a sigh."So,so scared. We had a rough winter because of the fields not being productive enough during the spring and summer.People died because they didn't have anything to feed themselves and we lost so many people from the cold."
Scott clenched his jaw, lowering his head.
"My promises a year before didn't reflect my actions at all,and now, this year's ball, they will want to hear something hopeful."
"You can't please everyone,your highness."
"But i should try,as the king!"
He placed the cup back on the small table with a rather harsh move, making some of the red liquor spill out and fall on the table, slowly dripping down on the marble floor.
Silence between the two males.
Vincent exhaled deeply, removing the red cape and passing it to Scott, walking away.
"Where are you going?"
"I am going out, tell them to prepare my horse and my escort knights."
And with that,he opened and closed the large doors of the throne room behind him, leaving the male softly curse under his breath as he was holding on to the large fabric of his red cape.
"Twenty coins?!You must be a fool if you think i will give you this much!"
The woman raised an eyebrow, showing herself."Well,i am a fool-!"
"The answer is no,now scram!"
She huffed, tapping her pointy shoe against the ground with annoyance.
"How about a little game?"
The salesman raised an eyebrow, turning his attention back to the jesteress.
"What kind of little game?"
She smirked,showing her cards.
"A card game. You will pick a card from this deck of cards and i will try to find the exact card once i shuffle the cards altogether."
She shuffled the cards she was holding, and then spread them out on the wooden table that was standing between them.
People started approaching, surrounding the salesman and the fool.
"What will i gain from this?" The buff man crossed his arms, eyeing her in suspicion.
"Oh you know, just a little something." She pulled out from her pocket a pouch of coins, tossing them on the table."All my gold coins."
The man grinned,chuckling.
"Alright girlie." He looked at the deck of cards spread along the table, humming softly.
He picked a card, seeing what it was and nodded, placing it back with the rest of the cards.
"Remember it very well,alright?"
The woman said with a grin, getting all the cards back and shuffling them again.
The man crossed his arms, wearing that intimidating look as he looked down at her.
She spread the cards on the table again, looking down at them.
Everyone in the market was surrounding the two,and even betting on which side will win.
(Y/N) smirked, moving her fingers along the cards and stopping at one.
"This one."She lifted her (colour) eyes up at the man."This is your card."
"Your confidence will ruin you, little girl."
She raised an eyebrow, lifting up the card."You will tell me if it will ruin me or not."
She didn't even look at the card, and showed it to him right away, making his eyes go wide.
"The King of hearts."
"How in the lord's name-!"
She softly laughed, grabbing the pouch of her coins back."Now,your coins please."
He slammed his large hands on the table, making all the cards to fall."You cheated! There is no way you got it right!"
"How annoying."She mumbled, picking up the cards and dusting them off."Why?You can't admit defeat?"
She inched her hand close to his ear, flipping a card between her fingers as people around them gasped.
"Oh look, another King of hearts behind your ear."She did the same move on his other ear as well."Another one!"
The salesman was confused but also mad, shaking his head.
"You bloody-!"
"What is going on here?"
A horse came to a stop beside them,as the knight on top it looked at the two.
The knight's blue eyes looked over to the jesteress, huffing."You again?"
"I was about to say the same thing."(Y/N) said with a pout, crossing her arms.
"Stop fooling people around, before i report you.I have been way too nice to you."
"Oh ser Mike, you shouldn't have been that nice to me!"She said as she did a dramatic pose, earning some chuckles from the people around them.
He squinted his eyes, looking down at her as she stuck her tongue out.
"Enough with you today, everyone, back to your business!"
Everyone started walking away, making her huff.
"Donkey's ass."
"I heard you."
"I wanted you to hear me!"
She stuck her tongue out again,as she looked over to the salesman.
"Oh and, thank you for the twenty coins!"
The man widened his eyes, looking around for his pouch only to see it in her hands as she was walking away in a fast pace.
"You little wench!"
The knight stifled a small chuckle,as she walked into an alleyway, checking the coins with a hum.
Some bread and a small block of cheese will do the trick.
After purchasing those two,she made her way towards a small building, noticing a specific window was closed.
She knocked seven times in a rhythmical order on the wooden window,as it slowly opened.
"Miss (Y/N)?"
"Yes,that's me!"
She moved the little bells on her head piece, making the little boy softly giggle.
He fully opened the window, resting his hands on the frame.
"How is my favourite little boy in the world?"
He smiled,as he was sitting himself on his little bed."I am alright, but i am very hungry."
He looked down at his tummy, complaining for food.
"Well, lucky for you,i brought bread and some cheese!"
His little eyes shined and clapped happily, watching her hands pull out from her small bag bread and cheese.
He started devouring them, not thinking much.
"Michael, calm down, this is yours,no need to eat it that fast."
The little boy lowered his head, wiping his mouth with his hand from the breadcrumbs.
She tilted her head, resting her hands on the window.
"Did Miss Martha not feed you again?"
He still had his head lowered, shaking his head.
"There wasn't much food left, and some kids didn't get to eat.She says we are so many kids that she won't have room for us anymore."
He took another bite of the cheese and bread, slowly chewing on it.
"I am scared Miss (Y/N).I am scared they will leave me to the streets and be alone again."
"I won't let that happen!"
She gently grabbed his hands,as he looked up at her."I made a promise to you,and i will make it come true no matter what. And i keep my promises."
The little boy smiled, leaning his head against her hands and hugging them.
She placed a kiss on top of his head, caressing his brown hair locks with a smile.
"Now,keep eating before Miss Martha finds out and whops my butt."
He softly laughed, and took another bite.
"I will come over before sunset as well,my friend will cook dinner so i will bring you some!"
"Thank you Miss (Y/N)!My tummy is very happy because of you!"
She did a funny bow, making the bells jiggle."My duty is the happiness of your tummy!"
Michael laughed at that, and the woman smiled and then took her leave back to the main square of the village.
"I heard the king is out in the village today."
"Really?Did you see him?"
"I saw his escort knights and some others saw him on his horse as well!"
The jesteress's ears caught the little conversation between the females, turning around to face them.
"His majesty finally got his butt out of the castle? We should celebrate!"
The females were caught off guard,as some others heard her as well.
"I mean, when we have seen his royal presence here out and about?Never!Heck,i don't even know he looks like!"
She walked around the plaza, being in the center as more people surrounded her.
"Possibly he will walk around and see in what conditions we live in!'I promise this and i promise that',horse shit! The winter that passed was one of the hardest for us and he was simply sitting on his throne, sipping on his wine and enjoying the sound of his people dying."
She shook his head,as she earned some nods from the villagers.
"Bet his ass got massive from sitting all day and doing nothing,i wonder how the throne isn't attached to his behind since he is sitting all the time."
Some people laughed,as she did big steps in the center she was, having her arms spread out on the back as if she was having a large butt.
" 'Oh,would you look at that?People are dying!' " She imitated a funny voice, making the crowd laugh." 'And i thought people were miserable only in my castle.' "
She earned some laughs again, making her smirk.
" 'Oh damn Frederick,i cannot fit my precious large sitting donkey ass in the pants, can you help me?' " She said in the funny voice again, and moved her hands as if she was trying to wear a pair of pants and was struggling.
" 'Oh!My back!My back hurts from my velicious butt!' "
The laughters died down,as she had her hand on her back, facing the ground, only to see the legs of a horse approaching.
"Well, donkey ass is here to ruin my act again,hm?"
She lifted up her gaze, expecting to see two fierce and annoyed blue eyes, but instead, she saw a very well dressed man, with dark complexion and long dark purple hair tied back in a lower ponytail.
"Well, you are for sure not ser donkey ass."She raised an eyebrow confused, but then she noticed the villagers.
They were bowing down to him.
Oh no.
"Is this the jesteress,ser Mike?"
"Yes,your highness."
Another two horses with knights on top came next to him,as she looked over to the knight with a glare.
"Interesting."He hummed, scanning her from head to toe as he softly exhaled."Alright,Mike,Jeremy, take her."
Her eyes went wide, watching the two knights get off their horses as the king moved his horse away, riding him out of the crowd.
"Wait!What is going on!"
The knights grabbed her arms, apprehending her.
"Ser,she has a bag with her." The other knight said, giving it to Mike.
He checked it,seeing the pouch with money.
"Leave it here."
"But,ser,we can't just leave it here."
He seemed hesitant in his words, but Mike huffed.
"Are you going against me Jeremy?Do as i said and leave it here!"
Jeremy swallowed hard, throwing the bag on the ground.
"No!Please, these are all my savings!I need them!"
Mike pushed her forward, making her gasp.
"Silence!Jeremy, tie her hands and legs, and back to the castle, like in practice."
"Yes ser,right away ser."
He turned towards the woman with a sigh, holding a rope."I am so sorry."He mumbled to her, slowly tying her up as she watched her savings being taken from villagers.
My coins.
Michael.
She was thrown on top of the horse,as Jeremy moved the horse to move, riding them towards the castle.
~~
She was walking down the large hallway of the castle, having the knights from before on each side of her.
Her eyes shifted along the rich decor, with the red carpet, family paintings, expensive vases with flowers and gold furniture.
The large doors opened, leading into the throne room.
The king was talking with his assistant, but his gaze was turned towards them the moment the doors opened.
"Alright, thank you for bringing her,you are dismissed."
The knights bowed and let her fall down to her knees on the floor, taking their leave.
"What is it your majesty?Did i touch on your ego a little too much and got upset?"
He inhaled and then softly exhaled, walking towards the throne which was some feet away from her.
"I don't care what people say behind my back,i know a lot of things about me,and i don't expect an apology either."
"Oh really?I am quite surprised,i was readying myself to fall on the floor and lick your shoes to show me mercy not to kill my painted face."She said sarcastically, rolling her eyes.
He took a seat on the throne, resting his head on his palm.
"I want you to entertain me."
She blinked, holding confusion in her eyes.
"Excuse me?"
"Entertain me.Like you do on the streets."
Entertain you,huh?
Oh,i will entertain you really well, just wait and you will see.
She built up some strength and stood herself up,as she had her hands tied behind her back, looking over to the king.
"You know,to entertain you,I will need to use both of my hands."
She showed him her tied up hands, making him hum.
"Scott,untie her please."
The tall male was taken aback."Your majesty,I wouldn't recommend untying an angry woman at this point."
"This is an order from your king." He turned his gaze towards him."Are you going against me?"
Something was up.
He knew something was up.
He pulled out from his pocket a small pocket knife, cutting the rope and freeing her hands.
She rubbed her wrists, noticing the red marks as she looked at the king.
"You know, your majesty,I can't do much like most jesters and jesteresses but,I can do some magic tricks."
She smirked and snapped her fingers,as a card appeared between them.
"May i,your highness?" She gestured towards him,as if to get closer.
"Go ahead."
She hopped towards him, scanning his throne.
She gasped, and he slightly jumped from surprise since he didn't expect it.
"My lord, your highness,I knew you were rich, bug I didn't know you had coins even behind your ears!"
Her hand neared his face, flipping a coin at his ear and showing it to him,as she did the same to his other ear.
She flipped the coins to Scott's direction,in which he tried to catch them in time.
The woman hummed in thought, looking around as she hopped, making the bells on her costume sound in the whole silent throne room.
"Oh,look at these beautiful roses!" She carefully grabbed one from the expensive vase, inhaling the scent."I bet the taste is even better."
Scott raised an eyebrow, but Vincent watched with a blank expression.
She smirked, and then stuffed her mouth with the rose, making the standing male shiver, getting a bit squeamish.
(Y/N) hummed in delight, softly burping and making some petals come out of her mouth.
"Ah,that sure was tasty." She threw the stem away, dancing her way carefully towards the throne, but then suddenly stopped, covering her nose.
She sneezed,as a part of a thin cloth came out of her nose.
"Oh donkey's bum,can you please get it out for me?"
She asked the king, showing the thin cloth.
He grabbed the end of it,and he started pulling as she made funny noises, with many colourful cloths tied together were coming out of her nose.
It kept going,to the point she was going round and round in circles, until the end of it.
"Woah, that was nice, finally my nose isn't stuffy." She smiled, rubbing her nose as she looked at the king and the throne that was decorated with the tied up cloths.
"That's only a portion of what I can do,but only with that I can work at the time, your highness." She bowed to him.
He chuckled, pushing the cloths away as he stood up.
He walked in front of her, looking at her bowing figure.
"State your name."
"(Y/N) (L/N) your highness, but names aren't that important to fools are they now?"
She straightened her posture, facing him at a very close angle.
"I know you can do tricks, but what I want more is your talking, like you did when I found you."
She was taken aback, raising an eyebrow.
"My lord, you surely don't want my bad mouth talking all sorts of things."
The corner of his mouth softly curled up.
"You are an intelligent woman, you had some education in your life,I can tell." He pulled himself away, keeping a distance."Alright,Scott, she will be the entertainer."
"Yes your majesty."
"Wait, what, what do you mean?" She looked between the two,as Scott rolled out a paper, showing it to her.
"The spring ball tonight,Miss.A jesteress would have been a nice add up for our guests."
Her hands turned into fists, slowly realizing the situation.
"So you are telling me,you tied me up and brought me here for me to entertain your little ball?!"
She looked over to Vincent, softly huffing."I thought I was going to die and I needed to make you laugh to save my sorry life!"
He tried to stifle a laugh, shaking his head.
"Do i look that bad to you?"
"Oh,I don't know,but you sure scared me!"
He smiled, running his fingers through his hair."No need to worry, now."
He flicked the bells on her head piece, making her slightly flinch.
"Go rest, the ball will start just before sunset." He walked past her, heading towards the large doors to exit the throne room."Scott, show her the room please."
"Right away your highness." He bowed and then approached her."Follow after me,madam."
She didn't have words.
She didn't know how to feel.
At first she thought she was going to die or imprison her,but then she finds out she will just do her job on a big castle.
With lots of guests from noble families and royals.
But why they threw all my savings on the road?
Is he foreshadowing that I am not going to need the money..
Because he will execute me later?
I can't get away scot free like that.
I literally ridiculed his face to his villagers.
With so many thoughts going around in her head, she found herself in the ballroom, doing her usual tricks to the elite class of nobles.
They were amazed, and even laughing to the silliest of acts.
"And i really thought he would take my head and cut my butt in pieces but turns out but it was worse! He wanted me to entertain him!Entertain his lazy self, and i really felt it was a life or death situation. How can you make this person even crack a smile you tell me?"
Some women stifled their giggles,as some males looked over to the king's direction, who was walking around the ballroom with a glass of wine in his hand.
"Oh fool, those stories you tell are indeed delightful, but no matter what, his highness is one piece of a handsome man."One of the princesses commented, batting her eyeslashes as she had her fan covering her mouth and blushing cheeks.
(Y/N) moved her eyes towards the princess, looking at her as she raised an eyebrow.
"Oh darling,my face is looking better than yours and i have used powders to become like this."She softly mumbled, noticing the very heavy powder make up she had on.
"Excuse me?I didn't quite hear you."
"I said,oh darling look! The king is about to make an announcement!"
She pointed at the stage where the band with instrument players were sitting, stopping the music for the king to talk.
Everyone was silent,as Vincent looked down at them.
"I wanted to thank you all for coming in tonight.Your presence is sure a delight."He gave off a gentle smile, looking at his glass of wine."A year before,i made a promise i didn't keep, and i don't want to repeat the same mistakes. So for this year."
He lifted up his glass.
"Let's all work together,no matter the social class or the kingdom,so we can push through another difficult time and not lose anymore people. To make everyone's kingdom better."
Everybody lifted up their glasses, toasting to that statement as people cheered, with the music starting again.
(Y/N) couldn't help but smile, even though she was keeping a realistic approach.
It is too good to be real.
It is not going to work.
It's ideal but not possible.
Her (colour) eyes made contact with another pair of milky white ones, nearing silver colour.
Vincent smiled, raising his glass to her.
She looked around, grabbing a glass from a nearby table and doing the same thing, drinking the liquor.
But the moment it came in contact with her tongue, she quickly spat it out, making him chuckle.
What in the world these people are drinking?
She put the glass away, looking over to him again.
He softly hummed from her gaze, and then pointed her towards the door.
Her eyes read confusion, but when she noticed him walking away she quickly caught on to that.
She followed him, getting herself away from the whole commotion as she was walking down the hallway with her little bells echoing in the silence.
One of the balcony windows were wide open, and stopped on her tracks seeing the king standing there.
"Your highness?"
He turned around, facing her with a smile."Ah,glad you came along.Come on,sit with me."
He said, gesturing to the bench that was against the wall,as he took a seat as well.
She nodded, taking a seat next to him as she made sure they kept their distance.
"I owe you an apology.I scared you for no reason and also lost your savings. The truth is,yes,i got upset from your comment at the plaza."
She found it difficult to swallow, slowly turning her gaze towards him.
"Your majesty,i am sorry-!"
"Don't,please. You said your opinion and that's fine because that's how you view me.I should have done more things and not let my people suffer. It is not an easy task being a king, especially having expectations set so high from my parents work beforehand."
He exhaled deeply,rubbing his nose.
"Sometimes,i let my bad side get to me,and i don't want that.I did thought of imprisoning you or worse just because i got upset from your comment, but then i thought it over, and calmed myself, and realized you were right.I need to make changes, and this time i will do it right."
Her hands slightly tugged at the bench and turned into fists.
"If you really thought like that, then why you placed me in the ballroom tonight?"
"I needed an excuse. And it was a pretty convenient one considering the fact that you are a jesteress.Which reminds me."His hand reached to his pocket, pulling out a small pouch of coins and setting it on the small gap between them."This is for the savings you lost and also your payment for tonight."
Her eyes went wide, grabbing the pouch and opening it.
"Oh thank lord,i don't have to start again."
But a thought suddenly crossed her mind.
"The time!"She jolted up from her seat, catching him by surprise."With so many events happening today,i forgot Michael and my friend at the shack."
She gripped onto the pouch, bowing to Vincent.
"Thank you so much your majesty, but i have to excuse myself and leave quickly."
She walked back inside, trying to make big steps down the hallway.
"Wait!(L/N)!" He got himself up,following right behind her."Can i be a help to you?Please?"
She bit her lip,not wanting to ask but at that moment, she was panicking.
"Yes,please,i will need some spare food and a horse ride.I think i am already too late."
He was expecting a decline, but hearing her saying yes made his heart flutter.
My first duty to ensure my villagers happiness.
"The kitchen is right this way, take anything you need and we shall go." He pointed the direction,as he moved forward,in which she followed him.
They entered the kitchen, which was rather busy with cooking and baking, but the chefs and maids were surprised by his presence.
"Your highness! What are you doing here?"The sweaty ginger head uttered, embarassed by the messiness of the kitchen.
"Smith, get the woman what she needs. We are leaving in five minutes sharp."
"Yes your majesty!Right away!"
After filling a basket full of food, they exited through the back door, leading to the stables.
"He shouldn't have given me that much food!"
"Hush,it is the least i can do."He looked around, trying to spot his horse."Here she is."
Her eyes focused on the horse that neighed, getting out of the stable.
She was expecting a white horse, like the rest of them were but no.
She was a black beauty.
"Easy girl,i am here."He smiled, petting her head with his large hand."Miss (L/N),you can approach,no need to be afraid."
She blinked,shaking her head.
"I am sorry,i was captivated by such beauty.I haven't seen any horses like this before."
His hand gently grabbed hers, letting it rest along the horse's neck making her gasp.
"Relax, she will like you in no time."He kept her hand on the horse,as he rested his upon hers in reassurance.
Her cheeks got the shade of red,not because of the added blush she had for her costume.
"We are losing time!"She yanked her hand away,as her breath softly hitched."Let's go!"
He chuckled, helping her get up the horse as he hopped on as well.
He rode with his horse out of the castle area and towards the the road she was instructing him to go.
They soon arrived, having his horse come to a halt as she quickly got down, though almost falling on the ground, and knocking on the window.
"Why don't you go by the entrance?"
"They won't let me in so easily,i can't just walk in there, especially dressed like this."
She kept on knocking though, receiving no answer.
"You can,if i am with you."
He chuckled, grabbing the basket from her hands and walking past the gate doors.
She gasped, knocking one last time before following him inside.
"Your highness please!"
Though his steps came to a step once seeing what the place was.
(Y/N) noticed his gaze and exhaled deeply, not sure how she could explain herself.
"Miss (Y/N)?"
But the voice of the little boy made her attention turn to him, gasping with a smile.
"Michael!" She rushed herself towards the door he was leaning, falling down to his height level and hugging him tightly."I am so sorry i am late pumpkin!"
He nuzzled his little face against her shoulder, purring softly."It is alright, you are here now!And that matters to me!"
He giggled, looking over to the man who was holding the basket.
"Um,Miss (Y/N),there is a man looking at us."
"Oh!"She pulled herself away, awkwardly smiling."Well,Michael, this is the king of our village, king Vincent."
The little boy's eyes sparkled, aweing at the tall man.
"The king!I am meeting the king!"He moved himself forward, softly huffing from the struggle.
The little boy was holding on to his wooden crutches, using his somewhat good leg to move forward as his right one was cut off to his knee.
"Please forgive me,i cannot bow down to you."He smiled sweetly to the man,who was gripping onto the basket so tightly so he wouldn't cry.
"Don't worry about it."He slowly fell to his knees, looking at the kid with teary eyes.
Michael looked at him confused, noticing him raising the basket he was holding.
"We brought you food.Hopefully you like it."
~~
"So you are actually thinking of adopting him, aren't you?"
"Yes,he needs a place to call home, not that Martha is bad in the way she is handling the orphanage, but still."
She sighed, rubbing her wrist as she was holding the basket with some leftover food.
"He has been there since he was a baby,no one is taking him because of his missing leg and he doesn't know what living like a kid is like. And i want to offer that to him, even though i am not very economically stable for that.My priority is getting him out and then finding a decent home to live in with my friend, not some shack."
He nodded, holding the reins of his horse as they were walking towards her so called home.
"This is the place,my apologies for dragging you out here and into this mess. You have been very kind."She bowed."Thank you for sparing my life your highness,i will be more careful next time with my bad mouth."
She turned around, resting her hand on the broken door to push it open.
"Can i ask you a question,(L/N)?"
Her hand stopped, looking back at him with a hum.
"How did you do that trick with the rose?Did you actually eat it?"
She was surprised by the question, though she started laughing, turning fully around."Well, pull this."
He raised an eyebrow, looking at the thin cloth poking out from her sleeve.
Vincent rolled his eyes, pulling at the colourful cloths that seemed never ending to him.
Once he finished, she picked up the cloths and made them into a circle on her open palm.
"Illusions are key to my field."She smirked and uncovered her palm,as she was holding the rose he mentioned.
He blinked,rather surprised.
I really did think she ate it.
She chuckled, giving him the ros,but he placed it back on her palm."Keep it,as a thank you for today."
"How sweet of you."She said in a rather sarcastic tone, but she did inhale the scent of the flower."And what will you have to remember me,hm?"
The line of his mouth curled up to a small smirk.
"I don't need anything, since maybe our paths will cross again at some point."His hand inched closer to her painted cheek, gently caressing it as her heart skipped a beat from his touch."But until then."
He flipped a card from her head piece she was wearing, making the bells slightly jiggle.
"I will have this card to remember you."
The purr at the end of his sentence made her whole body shiver,as her eyes went big seeing the card between his fingers.
"How did you-!"
"Maybe i learned something after having a closer look at you throughout this time."
He playfully chuckled, getting himself to sit on the horse."To our next meeting,my playful jesteress."
The irresistible male moved his horse to move, riding himself away and towards the castle.
The female got herself inside the shack, clinging on to the head piece as she quickly removed it,having her hair slightly stick to her sweaty neck and forehead.
She pulled out her deck of cards out, looking through them to see which card he took with him.
She categorized all the numbers,Aces and then the Jacks,Queens and Kings.
Everything is here.
She hummed in thought, looking through them again, only to realise that indeed a card was missing.
She cracked a smile along her lips, softly laughing as she shook her head.
He took the Joker card.
