"My Parents Asked About You"
You'd been seeing Shawn for a while, and it was getting pretty serious. Every weekend was spent at his condo, even when he wasn't there. You weren't exactly official yet, but his fans had pieced it together and it was kind of old news.
He had a dinner tonight with his family, and you weren't quite ready to meet them. He hadn't really asked you to come, either, only alluded to it. You figured it was a little soon and skipped out, spending your evening eating ice cream on Shawn's couch, watching Toronto light up as the sun went down.
He got in at around 11:30, and you were passed out on the couch. He placed his keys on the table by the front door as he kicked his shoes off, smiling to himself at the heap of blankets that was on his couch.
He tiptoed over to you, sitting in front of you on the edge of the coffee table. His smile grew as he reached out, running his fingers through your wavy hair.
"Honey, honey wake up," he whispered, rubbing your shoulder, "Come to bed."
"Mmmmm?" you hummed, too cozy to move.
"Babe, I'm home," he whispered, this time a little closer to you. You opened your eyes and he was inches from your face, a goofy smile plastered on his lips.
"Hmmm, how was it?" you slurred, a little more awake. You pushed up on your elbow, looking up at Shawn.
"It was good," he smiled, breaking eye contact. Something was up. He was too giddy.
"What happened?" you questioned, smiling a little. He was being so adorable.
"Well, we were having dinner, and uh, my parents, they asked about you," he babbled, smiling even wider.
"What? They know who I am?" you asked, fully sitting up now. Shawn placed a kiss on your forehead and leaned back to his original position, seated on the coffee table.
"Well, they said they know I've been seeing someone. It's everywhere. They asked how we met and what you do, and if you're nice," he giggled, leaning forward again to plant a peck on your nose. "They said you're pretty, too," he giggled some more, like a little kid.
"Wow," was all you could say. You knew the world knew you were basically together, but you'd never really thought about his parents finding out this way.
"My parents know, so I guess that means it's official," he said, grabbing your warm hand from the blankets.
You knew what was coming, but had to hear it from him. "What's official?" you asked, leaning in a bit closer.
"You. Me. Us. You're my person, now," he laughed, kissing you lightly. "Mine."
