Chapter:-11

Light's P.O.V

The heat of the blanket kept me from sleeping. Tired of it sticking to my skin, ripping it off I hopped out of the bed. I turned the heater off and opened the window to get some sir. And it wasn't a good idea since the drizzling rain and fierce wind carried a coldness that left me shivering.

My imagination wandered as I turned the knob of the bathroom door. If only it could be locked and contain a showering Louis inside. The warmth and a fading fog on the mirror informed me he was in there minutes before. I took some clothes and showered in there. It had already filled with the fragrance of beer shampoo and using more in my head would be unbearable.

--
My feet were still wet as I headed downstairs and almost slipped twice.

"Hey! Light."

It was Niall.

"Food is on the table. Eat if you want."

I wished Louis was in the kitchen too, but the only person there was Liam, who was doing the dishes. He turned around ams smiled, then shifted his attention to cups instead.

Half of my food was still on plate, when he grabbed a chair. He sat down, his arms and chin meaning on the back of the chair"Your brother has not paid yet."His eyes were grim and bloodshot.

"I don't know why he isn't paying."

His eyes were all over me, no matter where I lookedII didn't want to let them know the truth so I lied,"May be. He is still arranging some."

"It's been nine days now, I don't know why Louis isn't taking any actions."

"Maybe, Joe needs some more time." My fingers fiddled again.

"I don't know what he actually wants."

"Who?"

"Louis."

"He's getting attracted to a hostage and thinks we can't see." He murmured and stood up.

"Sorry."

He rejected my apology and shouted,
"You both keep playing the 'Sparrow' game and here we are the only one running work."Then stormed out.

None of the words I said stopped my mind from freaking!

"They won't throw you back at his doorstep."

"He already said that Louis isn't taking any actions."

"Don't worry, its fine."

"Light, are you done?" Harry shouted from living room.

"Yes." My voice trembled so before going to living room, I took long breaths and finally sent the lump back.

"Louis is having trouble with fixing the car, help him," Niall ordered then went into the storeroom.

Harry patted my back, chuckled and said,"It's the same car."

"The one I fixed with Niall, the other day."

"It's always the same car with different problems." He said and walked away.

"I'll go and check it." Just remembering about that car made me relax. The car was like a child learning maths. Each time the problems are fixed, more complex one arises. I chuckled again, thinking how I related things with others. A car with a chiButBut when I turned around, found Liam standing against the door frame with his arms crossed over his chest and his glare injecting in my heart. I felt like he was a cannon ball and I was an enemy soldier. Shaking his head in disapproval, he left.

****

Louis was sitting on the floor and back against the wall, knees up with his arms on them. He looked deep in thoughts until I spoke up,

"What's with this." I slapped on the cars door. It did made a loud sound, but my hand hurt even more.

"I don't know, Niall said that last time it was the engine so I worked on it but still it won't budge."

"Okay, I'll see."

I bent over to check the engine, but my eyes drew towards him. He looked tired. The warmth was fading with the weather. Maybe Liam had talked to him about his behaviour.

Not knowing what to say and sat beside him. I knew he hated my silence, but silence seemed infinitely better than any word in the world.

"It feels like today, clouds don't want to harm us." I was surprised that I finally spoke.

"What do you mean?" He finally lifted his gaze from the ground to me.

"They look gloomy, but they don't mean any harm to us. Letting go of their pain in drizzles. They could have been harsh but they know we are hurt too."

"It's letting the sadness and burden drop, but careful enough not to harm us," he spoke, the same I wanted to say but he expressed it in more personified for way. He had a small smile crept on his lips while looking outside. Kissing the liquor bottle, he gulped uncountable times.

"Is it because of Liam?" I asked.

"Did he said anything to you?" He questioned my question.

"Not much."

He nodded and stayed silent for minutes until I again spoke up,"what will you do if Joe doesn't pay. Would you throw me somewhere or back to him?"

"We've all been thinking about this. I don't know about the others, but I'm slowly changing my mind." He smiled and got up.

I didn't know whether to be happy or not?But the smile didn't die on my face.

"Let me see it, please back up a bit," I said and wore work gloves and when I finally scrutinized the engine and it was all fine but in scotchlok all the wires were misplaced and that made me laugh. Surprised by my voice that could open up.

"Wha- what happened?" He laughingly asked.

"You seriously don't know how to repair cars?" I asked and the misplaced wire's picture popped in my mind, making me chuckle. He shook his head, like a child who's denying that he didn't do something wrong.

"I would look dumb, if everyone would know a leader doesn't know how to repair normal things in a car,"
he murmured but it was audible.

"Everyone can't learn or know everything, there are so many things people don't know and it's alright," I said in assuring voice .

"Hmm." He nodded.

After that he didn't say anything while I was fixing the car."It's done." I was satisfied with my work.

He offered me some liquor but I shook my head,"Again, I told you to speak, there's no shaking and nodding heads with me."

"Sorry."

"It's not drizzling now," he said looking back.

"Yeah! but it's still grey."

"Wanna go out?"

"Weather is doubtful."

"It's okay, let clouds punish us for our sins."

****

We were walking along the dead road with few passing vehicles and puddles already browned our shoes.

"If I had have been an introvert, all I would wish for an extra large jumper, warm and long woolen socks. Sit by the fireplace with a warm blanket and someone to cuddle me. A book to read or a soothing music and through the window I could see the sky raining and thunder punishing the earthly sins." He smiled then began walking again. I didn't even realise that we were not walking until then.

I wanted to keep the chain tied so I continued,"If I had have been an extrovert, all I would wish for a sunny day, but with some clouds and soft breeze flowing. A bicycle to ride, good music and a person to talk."I smiled at him when he turned his face to me.

"Louis, what exactly do you want?"

"What do you mean by, what I want?" he suddenly was caught off guard.

"I was just asking,do you want to be here, where you guys are?"

"Yes, I want it. Do I look like a guy who would do something against his will," he tried to lie and look confident but I could see where he was falling.

"No, you don't look like that."

I didn't want to push him more so I kept quiet then he put his arms around my shoulder and cooed,"Sparrow."

It sounded sweet .

"Why don't you speak?"

"Because I usually don't have anything interesting to say and boring conversation leads nowhere," I half lied.

First I never had anything interesting to say and second I didn't want to tell the truth or let anyone know about Joe. Lastly, from five years, Joe had forced me not to speak and in school I didn't have any friends and then I lost words.

I wanted to scream out loud the full truth but smiled at him after my reply.

"Where did you learn car repairing?"

"I used to watch when Joe's friends repaired cars. They were always discussing parts and wires. I picked a few things up."

"Let's walk back," he said and without any arguments I turned around. We started walking back with his arm on my shoulder.

"Did you find repairing cars interesting?" He asked out of disgust.

"Yes, I really like doing that,in fact I want to be a car mechanic."

"What really? Just say you don't want to."

"I do, and what's bad with that. It's like I'm a doctor of cars or any other vehicle."

"No comments, no! no, comments," he started laughing then.

"There's nothing funny here."

"Seriously but a bus driver is much better," he said and walked again.

"Don't tell me,you want to be a bus driver."

"Yes, I do. Even a school bus driver."

"That's ridiculous!"

The whole way back ,we were making fun of our potential future careers. He said it was ridiculous to work with grease and I replied that it would be boring to drive on the same road with same children everyday then he commented, I would be doing the same thing, that's just repairing cars.

We entered house and the blossom atmosphere, was stymied.Though the clouds didn't punish us but someone else did even when we were sinless.

Liam jumped off the couch in full aggressions as we stepped into living room."I went crazy in here, finding you missing and you're having fun with our captive," he blew out on Louis like a bull with horns.

"I ain't a child here." Louis shouted, by now Niall dragged me away from them.

"That's the reason every time I need to remind you to take your medicines."

The situation was so flammable that throwing water would only lit the flames more.

"Why do you always have to remind me about my disorder?" Louis was on summit of his voice."Why do you always have to poke me on my weakest point? Can't you just let go?Can't you see how joyful I am now?" He sounded hurt.

Now Liam's face fell off, probably realising his mistake.

"I want you to be happy Lou but we need to run this gang and you being friendly with a hostage won't work. Especially when her brother isn't paying back a single penny." Liam's voice ran soft and eyes drooped to the floor.

"I don't know mate but I ain't thinking about how things will work or is working. From the starting of this month I've been feeling good. I am feeling no weight now a days," he murmured but was audible.

Everything went silent, it was like one of them was feeling something which suppressed from a long time and then expressing the truth.

"All we have been doing from years is deceiving ourselves and you all are aware of this."

They were silent.

"We are just in our 20's. Can't we change," he yelped and jolted upstairs.

This voice sounded like it was repressed from years and that day it killed the repression and the original appeared as a warrior who won the battle but the warrior was injured with fathomless cuts and blood spurted nonstop.

His voice was that warrior.

****

After he left the living room in rancorous truth. No one said anything to each other except Harry, who told me to cook for lunch. It was clear that all three of them were playing Louis's warrior voice in their head. They were having a war between deception and the real truth.

The rest morning was silent and heavy, even the lunch was silent. I went to Louis to call him down but he said he would eat in his room.

He was silent while eating, it was strange and weird. I stood in his room dumbfounded but his eyes never met mine. I wanted to talk, cause the cumbersome silence was unbearable but he said he wanted to be alone.

----------

Harry took Louis out for over three hours. The heaviness in my heart slowly faded away;now replaced by hollowness. One could only be filled when everyone was home again.

Liam and I were watching the Avengers. I didn't particularly liked the movie, but it was better than strolling around the house or talking to Niall. I had tried to engage in a conversation with him, but he had snapped me out. I forgave him. Liam had told me that l had hard time concentrating when he was working. He did not want to be disturbed.

Half an hour passed, I was sitting on the couch and finally the door clicked open, revealing Harry and Louis. He was fine now,the frown no longer could be seen. I thought the night would be better and me and other guys would finally have some fun time but it all dropped down like an ice cubes falling from tray and scattered when another guy entered. They introduced him as 'Will' and told he was going to stay that night while they would be out. So wouldn't run away.

I stayed the whole evenings and half night up in Louis room, listening songs from the iPod. I repeated all the songs we heard last night. I was fine and in peace until that guy 'Will' called me down.

"I wanna tell you something," he said.

"Yeah! What's it?"

I had no idea what was coming.

He came closer to whisper. An evil whisper that said,

"I know Joe very well, we've worked for each other."

Joe's angry face came across my eye, not allowing my lungs to breath normally. My lips began to tremble upon thinking that this guy could send me back to him.

"Do my work and I won't tell this gang that Joe won't pay back."

"What do you want me to do?"

My heartbeat escalated, my nostrils were on their least behaviour and then he showed me bunch of transparent packet which had something white in it and I knew what it was.

"Trade them for me and not even the dust in the floor will know the truth," he said with a smirk.

Tears formed in my eyes and streamed down my cheeks. My hands were shaking.

"Will you?" Though he cooed but it was pure. Deep. Dark and evil.

Light, it's better than Joe's regular abuse.
Just agree to his terms.

I nodded.
