💫 Love Story Sequel (Part 3) 💫

"What's that you got there oh brother of mine?" Klaus peeks from behind Five's shoulder, making him jump as he scoured the books with the ring in his hand. He was mindlessly toying with it while trying to find information about the ring but it was futile.

"None of your business." Five snaps back and Klaus pouts, crossing his arms.

"You're a mean one Mr. Hargreeves."

"Stop quoting the Grinch and leave me alone, I have work to do."

"Work about how to return (y/n)'s ring without her realising you stole it from her?" Five froze at his brother's comment, brows furrowed from how he knew.

"This isn't (y/n)'s ring." Klaus rolls his eyes and leans against Five's desk next to him.

"Sure, and that isn't her name inscribed on the band of the ring." Five quickly takes a look, using his desk lamp to see if Klaus was correct. Sure enough, there was (y/n)'s name inscribed along with his name?

"How did you know?" Five mumbles out, trying to decipher the words etched onto the ring other than the obvious names.

"I... I don't know... I just felt like I knew... A feeling as if I helped choose this ring...? I don't know I'm just rambling!" Klaus shrugs and was about to skip away when he stopped. "Five..."

"Yes?"

"Have you had any feelings or something like... something from the past that you're forgetting?" Five looks at his brother who frowned while staring into the fireplace like he was trying to remember something.

"Actually... something like that yes." Klaus nods, scratching his head but sighs out.

"Ask father about the ring. I think he might know about it." that was all Klaus said as he left Five's study and the youngest brother sat questioning his energetic sibling who suddenly looked so downcast, but decided to do as he said and look for his father in his study.

"Father." Five knocked on the door and entered once he had received permission.

"Yes, Five? What is it?"

"What can you tell me about this ring?" Reginald looks up at his youngest son, peering down at the ring in his hand and the colour drains from his face.

"Where did you get that?" Five bristled from the shocked sound in his father's voice. "Five, I won't ask again."

"...From one of the townsfolk here... a merchant..." Five lies, worried about giving (y/n) up to his father. Reginald carefully took the ring from his son almost as if he was afraid it would disappear, inspecting its beautiful and well cared for appearance. "I can't believe this survived..." Reginald suddenly gets up and scours his library, grabbing every single book in his grasp and spreading them open across his desk.

"Father?"

"This ring is centuries old Five, dating all the way back to Skonovia, to our first ancestors." The boy listened, intrigued by the name of this country. "This is impossible to have this still intact after the war..."

"The war?" Reginald explained everything to Five, about the royal family and the war that devastated their country before the chosen sibling and their partner could be crowned king and queen of Skonovia. "The family, unfortunately, split apart after trying to escape, 2 of the youngest brothers and their partners dying on the battlefield. The rest of the family managed to grab whatever they could before they fled, aka, all these books and scrolls."

"So the ring wasn't with them?"

"No, everything else was lost in the royal castle. I can't believe this survived." Reginald goes on about how rare this find was, explaining the language inscribed in the band of the ring. "Each sibling has a different designed ring for them and their partners with a special inscription only both will know. See the crystals, it has snowflakes carved into it to represent winter which might have been the season they married." Five takes the ring carefully, gently touching the crystal snowflakes with a soft look in his eyes.

"What does the writing say on the band?" Five asks his father as he looks at a translator to try and decipher the old language.

"(y/n) & Five: A love story created by the stars." Reginald says, faltering against the words he read before peeking at his own son who looked at him with wide eyes from hearing his name.

"Father, what is it?" Reginald quickly opens another book filled with writing.

"This is the ring especially chosen for the wife of the youngest prince, the one that died on the battlefield and the one that was supposed to be crowned King of Skonovia..."

"Wait, but you said the wife died as well."

"Yes... why was this ring not buried with her?" Five furrows his brows, mind racing with his thoughts.

Is (y/n) the princess... no she can't be... that's impossible...

"Did the youngest prince and princess have any children?" Reginald shook his head no and Five lets out a breath of relief knowing that the girl he liked wasn't related to him.

Five quickly teleports away from his father's study and into (y/n)'s room, thankful that she wasn't in there but he heard her panicked cries as she searched for her ring. "I can't lose it! God please I can't have lost it!" she begs and Five's heart breaks, quickly setting the ring down on her vanity.

I'm sorry (y/n)...

"Please, I can't lose another piece of you..." Five was stopped before he teleported away, hearing (y/n) cry. "I miss you... I miss you so much..." He silently teleported downstairs to see (y/n) kneeling in front of a book with pages scattered around her, pages filled with drawings that looked unfamiliar but felt like home. Pages filled with images of royal architecture and drawings of people he recognised. It was his family. Five gulps and takes a step back, the floorboards creaking and he quickly teleports away back into his father's study before (y/n) could see him.

"Five what are you doing-" he ignores his father as he grabs all his books on Skonovia and his ancestors, hurrying back to his own study to confirm the single question that clouded his mind.

"Who are you (y/n)..."

(y/n) takes in a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves as her body shook from the biting cold wind that nipped at her face. She looked up at the mansion that loomed over her, the mansion she was invited to that belonged to Hargreeves. She didn't understand why but Diego had visited her at her library to apologise to her and invited her to join his family for dinner. (y/n) wanted to decline but Diego wasn't taking no for an answer, so here she was, hesitant about knocking on the door.

"(y/n)!?" she looks up and sees Viktor poke his head out from the higher windows, waving at her. "Come in! Don't wait outside in this cold!" Viktor pulls his head back in, yelling at his siblings to let them know that (y/n) had arrived and that someone should open the door for her. The forgotten princess took a step back when she heard yelling and scrambling of the siblings fighting over who wanted to open the door until it finally opened to reveal Luther pushing all his siblings away easily.

"Sorry about the wait (y/n), please come in." she nods slowly, walking in before she got bombarded with hugs by Claire, Klaus and Viktor.

"Miss (y/n)! I'm so excited you're here!" Claire squeals out as the forgotten princess pats her head gently. Five watched with a smile from the top of the stairs, seeing his mysterious girl smiling and laughing with his siblings as they all tried to talk to her while pulling her into the main lounge room. She instantly lit up the foyer with warmth and her sweet laughter that made him melt. Five caught a glimpse of the ring on her finger, recognising it and he quickly stands up straight, remembering why he was there at the stairs before going back to his study.

"Mum, (y/n) is here!" Diego calls out and the girl freezes as she hears a sweet voice.

"Finally I can meet the young girl that has gotten my children in a twist for." (y/n) held back her tears as she looked up to see Grace as beautiful as ever, a large kind smile on her face as she held (y/n)'s face. "You, my dear, are an absolute peach. Now I know why Five constantly raves about you." the young girl flushes pink at the remark, letting herself lean into Grace's hands that hold her cheeks. Grace falters, blinking at the girl standing in front of her before pulling her into a hug. She felt her heart ache as she held this young girl, not knowing why. "You're home now my dear." Grace mutters out and (y/n) broke into tears.

"Sorry, I... I got something in my eye." (y/n) stumbles back, running for a bathroom as she raced up the foyer stairs and barges into a random room. She leans her head back, taking in a breath to clam her nerves as she wipes her tears away. (y/n) knew this was a bad idea from the start, she knew she would break down eventually if she stayed with the Hargreeves again for too long.

I need to leave.

(y/n) opened her eyes to try and find an escape when she realises she was in a study. It was large and spacious, filled with shelves of books and encyclopedias based around every single part of science possible. There was a fireplace warming up the study, a couple of couches with a coffee table that held a chessboard. There was something familiar about the study, familiar about the one she used to spend most of her days in back in Skonovia. No, it wasn't the same study but the atmosphere was familiar.

"(y/n)?" she looked up and saw Five peek his head from behind a shelf in the back of his study, a smile on his face and the girl realises it was his study.

"I'm so sorry for barging in. I didn't know you were in here. I'll just leave-"

"-No! I mean, it's fine. I don't mind." Five clears his throat with a shy smile and (y/n) moves away from the door. "How are you?" he asks as he walks back to his desk. Five wanted to know how the girl was since the last time he saw her.

"Ok, I guess." (y/n) looks around, cheeks slightly red from embarrassment as she looked at everything except Five.

"How is the library?"

"Quiet as usual really. It's the weekends that it's normally filled with people." Five hums as he listens, (y/n) toying with the chess pieces on the coffee table before walking over to his desk. Five chuckled at how shy the girl was, toying with her ring.

"How did you know this was my study?"

"I actually got lost trying to find the bathroom." Five snorts lightly, earning a smile from his mysterious girl.

"Yeah, it's like a maze in here." Five swoons from the smile he earned as (y/n) looked at his desk that had books and scrolls scattered open all over it, a mess of papers covered in handwritten notes.

"What's all this?"

"I'm actually researching about our ancestors," Five observes (y/n) as she looked over the history books. "about Skonovia." he notices the slight rigidness in her expression.

"Skonovia? That sounds like a name for a country from a fairytale." (y/n) lies as she frowns, reading over the notes Five wrote about.

"It was a beautiful place known for the weather-"

"-actually it was known for the town's homemade chocolate and the royal family." (y/n) corrects Five unknowingly as he tested her, her attention taken by the history books. Five obviously lied but stayed quiet as (y/n) continued to tell him all about Skonovia, even information that was never published in any of the history books on his desk. It was as if she had personal experience of the place.

(y/n) noticed that Five's way of studying and taking notes was old school, reminding her of her husband so much. She brushed her fingers over the parchments of paper and she felt like she was back in her husband's study with him. The air suddenly smelt of ink and chalk, a lingering sweet smell of whiskey and of the flowers that bloomed in the royal gardens, hear the laughter of the village children as (y/n) was brought back to the past, reminding her of her memories of spending time and falling in love with Five when she fell into Skonovia.

She smiled softly, tracing Five's handwriting on the papers with her fingers that looked exactly the same as it did before, him hesitant about calling for her out of her memories. "(y/n)...?"

"Yes, my love?" Five was taken aback by her subconscious response and (y/n) breaks out of her trance when she sees a history book that had a drawing of the royal family portrait, her gasping and looking up at Five in shock. "I'm so sorry Five! I need to go-" before (y/n) could run away, the door to Five's study slams open with Claire standing at the doorway.

"GRANDMA GRACE SAYS DINNER IS READY!" she yells out, a cheeky grin on her face as this was her usual ritual before dinner time. Her uncle Five was sometimes asleep on his couch while he was doing whatever he was doing and she always screams out her message to make sure her uncle woke up. It was amusing to see him somethings fall to the floor in fright from her yelling.

"Alright Claire, no need to yell-" (y/n) raced out of Five's study, ready to leave the mansion.

"(y/n)! Come sit with us, dinner is ready." Allison grins knowing the poor girl was trying to run but pulls her into the dining room and sits her down on a chair.

"Allison, I have to leave. I just remembered I have things to do-"

"-nonsense, they can wait." Allison thought that (y/n) was being shy around Five but she didn't know the real reason for her eagerness to leave.

"Brother! Hurry up!" Ben calls out and everyone hears the stomping of feet as Five runs down, going over to sit at his spot like usual at the dining table without realising (y/n) was sitting next to him until he looked over expecting to talk to Viktor.

"(y/n)!" he stutters in surprise and the family snickers at his blush along with the girl's blush.

"Don't be shy dear, dig in." Grace smiles at (y/n) as she made no move to get something to eat. Five sighs and silently hands the poor girl a plate of food which had his siblings awe at his gesture.

"Thank you..." (y/n) whispers out, moving to talk to the other siblings to try and distract herself from Five sitting next to her. Five himself was too caught up with his thoughts as he remembers back to reading the chapter about the royal family portrait (y/n) saw in his study, coming across the names of each family member until he saw the same name as (y/n)'s. The princess that had married the youngest royal prince of Skonovia.

"Five, can you pass me the salt." Viktor asks from the other side of (y/n) who sat on Five's left, passing his brother the salt as he had to lean over (y/n). Five sighs from the sweet floral scent from (y/n), brushing his hand against her thigh accidentally. The siblings quickly started to taunt Five and (y/n), making every excuse possible to have them two near each other.
