Elvira rests her head on the wall beside her as she watches her dragons fly about in the air. Shea and Duncan are flying close to Rowan in case her wing starts to flare up in pain. Those two have become more protective over the youngest dragon while Vera and Sullivan treat Rowan the same as before. Vera has been nipping at Rowan's injured wing whenever Rowan will lag behind. Sullivan huffs and angrily blows his golden-colored out of his mouth in warning when Rowan will cry out. Those two are trying to toughen Rowan up and fight through the lingering pain. A hand gently placed itself on her shoulder, Elvira owlishly blinks at Jasper. Jasper's near-black eyes from hunger stare at her figure in slight concern. Jasper could easily tell how distraught Elvira is about Rowan without his empath power.

"How is she doing?" He inquires.

"She'll live." She replied back, softly putting her hand over his own. "The lingering venom in her wing should be completely gone in the next day or so." He briefly nods his head to the good news about Rowan's health. "Did they tell you?"

"We were in the house when he gave her the ring." He answers.

"I was the only one left out." She narrows her eyes at him. He awkwardly releases her shoulder and sheepishly scratches the back of his head with a nod. She utters a sigh before shrugging. "Did no one inform me about their engagement because I am not invited to the wedding?"

"Of course you're invited." Jasper and Elvira slightly angle their bodies to see Alice skipping towards them with a large smile. "You're going to go shopping with me so I can locate the dress you were wearing in my vision." Elvira groans making Jasper chuckle. "Don't give me that attitude, madam." Alice shakes her finger and clicks her tongue against the roof of her mouth. "You will go shopping and that is final. Be ready to leave tomorrow by noon." Alice hums to herself as she leaves the duo to go bother the newly engaged couple about their upcoming wedding.

"Can you come up with an excuse for me to not go?" Elvira asks Jasper.

"It's Alice, she'll drag you along even if you had plans." He comments. She massages her temples from the very thought of dress shopping with the shopaholic maniac. "Rose, Esme, and Bella will most likely be there with you. They'll have to suffer through the torture too." He attempts to reassure her.

"What happens after the wedding?" She whispers. He sends her a confused glance as if telling her to elaborate more. "Will I still be welcomed to stay here or should I go back to my mountain?"

"You're staying here." He immediately states with no hesitation. "You've lived on that mountain for about two decades with no social interaction except for your dragons. It's time to reconcile with the world, Elvira. You'll be surprised about how much has changed." She lowers her gaze onto the floor beneath them to avoid looking at his stern expression.

"Excuse me," a frail voice interrupts the friends once again. Elvira scowls at the human girl, remembering how she made out with Jake despite being engaged to Edward. "Elvira, I was wondering if you could tell me more about Dragonborns and your life." Elvira cocks an eyebrow at the audacity of her action before gesturing with a hand for her to follow. Jasper quickly grabs her wrist and gives her a look. Elvira pats his hand reassuringly, tugging her wrist out of his grip and continuing her way to the river that she discovered when she first came here. The duo sits quietly by the edge as Elvira dips her bare feet in the water.

"There use to be millions of us Dragonborns," Elvira quietly starts, "we ruled the sky. Everyone knew who we were even the humans. People could see us flying in the sky on our dragons and they would cheer and plead for them to be able to join us. We used to host tournaments for people to come spectacle and watch our dragons battle one another. It was a way to show them how truly powerful we were and how we weren't using our power to kill them. Despite all the evidence we gave for people to know about us, there were many who still thought we were merely myths. Legends used to scare children into being good for their parents would use our dragons as threats. Frankly, we didn't mind. The fewer people believed in us, the fewer headaches we got from humans trying to find us. We had a kingdom hidden between two mountain ranges and the only way to get in was to ride on a dragon. It was a way to ensure our species survival." Elvira dips her hand in the water and calmly pets a fish swimming downstream. "But one day we discovered that vampires and werewolves could easily scale the mountains and bear the coldness to come to our land. My brother was the king while I was the queen and we decided that the best course of action was to befriend these strange creatures. We couldn't leave our kingdom without one another which put our species at risk of not having people to rule. Whenever we would get into wars or fights with other supernatural creatures, the wolves and vampires were always by our side. They were ready to die for us. You know about the Volturi, but do you know how they came into power?"

"No, I was told that they are basically the government for vampires," Bella replies.

"Before the Italian scum took over, there was the Romanian Coven." Elvira allows a smile to grace her lips as she remembers her fond times with them. "I became attached to the coven and joined them in their castle as we ruled over the lands."

"I thought you couldn't leave your kingdom without your brother." Bella points out in confusion.

"You know how mating works for vampires and werewolves, well Dragonborns are slightly different with the way we mate. We grow as normal mortals do until we reach the age of eighteen. That is when our aging completely stops until we find our soulmates. When we find out soulmates, we age with them to ensure that we are always together. Dragonborns are extremely fragile and when our mate dies, so do we from heartbreak." Elvira tightly grips the necklace hanging around her neck.

"I've heard that happens in swans sometimes." Bella states. "How do you know if they're your mate?"

"Like werewolves, we are able to see our future together when we lock eyes with our soulmates. Like vampires, the scent of our mate attracts us to them." Elvira explains.

"You found your mate in the Romanian coven, didn't you?" Bella realizes.

"I did. It's only custom for us to live with our mates no matter our status in the kingdom. I left to be with my mate which is the noblest act to do. Some people never wish to leave the kingdom and they settle to never search for their soulmate which is seen as sinful. Most Dragonborns mate with another Dragonborn, but I was a part of the few special cases where I mated to a vampire instead." Elvira closes her eyes in bliss as she remembers her lover. "Since I was mated to a coven leader, some of my people came to stay with me in the castle. They kept me company and protected me when my mate was away for business. Humans knew about the supernatural and they feared us. They worshipped us. We reveled in their tears and blood of sacrifice. Until the Italian scum attacked us when we were at our most vulnerable." She scowls. "They slaughtered the dragons in the proximity first before killing the Dragonborns. Innocent children and baby dragons were killed in cold blood. They were killed because I allowed them to stay with me." She angrily slams her fist against the ground. "After they took out the Dragonborns, they went after the vampires. I escaped with the eggs I was currently trying to hatch for the next generation of children in the castle. My mate and his friend escaped with me. We were the last surviving members of the Romanian coven." A single tear slides down her cheeks. Bella nervously reaches over and wipes it away with her thumb.

"Where's your mate now?" Bella asks.

"To hell, I know. I sought refuge with my people and he decided he couldn't stay rooted in one place without revenge on the Volturi. We built an army, we did everything we could and we went to war with the Volturi. They slaughtered the army easily and we went scurrying back to our safe haven. He abandoned me with his friend and I was left with a permanent sadness in my heart. I wondered the land for centuries, desperately following his scent as an attempt to locate him. I was passing through London when I bumped into newborn Carlisle." Elvira releases a soft laugh. "The poor boy was so appalled at the fact he craved human blood. I decided to take him under my wing and escorted him to my kingdom."

'Someone sold the dragonborns out to the Volturi and Carlisle was once a part of them.' Bella's eyes widen when she connects the dots on why Carlisle and Elvira have the tension around them.

"I taught him self-control and how to feed off of animals. I also taught him the history and ways of my people. I actually got him to ride a dragon before. When I believed he was ready to venture back into the human world, I flew him to his hometown and left. I would occasionally visit him, watching as he became a doctor and helped people. I was proud that I was able to help him complete his goal. He would travel the world to study everything he could. Unfortunately, he stumbled into Italy." Elvira rubs her face and sighs. "Aro immediately took a liking to Carlisle and forced him to join. He stayed there for decades before trying to leave. Aro wouldn't let him unless he had information the coven needed. Carlisle knew they were trying to locate my kingdom and told them where it was. I wasn't there." Elvira's voice breaks. "I had another batch of eggs I was trying to hatch and I left my other dragons behind to help my brother protect the kingdom. I came back to see destruction and death. My kingdom was gone."

"How did you find out it was Carlisle that told her?" Bella questions.

"I got caught by Felix and Alec. I couldn't do anything as they escorted me to Aro because I was in so much shock. Carlisle stood beside him, staring at me with an array of different emotions. The most present emotion was guilt. Aro gleefully told me how Carlisle told them everything about my kingdom and people. I was filled with utter rage causing me to scream. The newborn dragons heard my cries and came swooping in, easily knocking everyone away from me and grabbed me. I hid in the mountains of Sweden, haunted by the memories of how I failed my people."

"The newborns were them." Bella gestures to the five dragons flying overhead. Elvira briefly nods. "How did you meet the other Cullens?" Bella wrings her hands nervously.

"I still cared for Carlisle despite his betrayal and I would pop in every couple of months to check up on his wellbeing. It seemed that every time I checked up, there was another vampire with him." Elvira gently grabs Bella's hand and holds it. "I've known Edward since he first turned and he went through some extremely dark time. He's still broody as ever, but I can see how happy you make him. His smiles and laughs were rare, but now they seem to be an occurring experience with you around. Take care of him." Elvira brushes her clothes off and leaves, letting Bella wallow in her thoughts.
