Preface
Lights Flashed. Voices came in and out of sound. Faces reached their sight. Faces that were unfamiliar, and yet, familiar at the same time.
He tried to awake from the dream.
She tried to awake from the dream.
But they were stuck. Stuck in this dream. Stuck in the oblivion of their minds.
No matter how hard they tried, it felt like they'd always be trapped in this cage. This cage of darkness. This cage of dreams. It seemed more like nightmares. Nightmares you couldn't escape.
The faces still swarmed their minds, whispering, seeming to chant one phrase over and over again. The faces were screaming it again and again and again. But through their stupor, they couldn't make out any of the words. It was like having a plug over both ears so they couldn't hear anything, but knew there was something being said. Was it something important?
They could still hear the wordless voices, in their minds, even when they awoke in their beds.
Even as they assured themselves that it was just a dream. Faces didn't swarm people in real life. And life went on after that. Until the next dreaded night, when they would close their eyes, and the faces would continue their wordless, endless, chant.
