The students lined up outside of the building; 16 students bubbling with excitement and chattering. Actually, make that 15. (Y/n) was listening as her friend talked her and her posies ears off. (Y/n) was a lonely woman, her only friend a toxic individual who only got her into this trip because she helped her not fail the entry exam to a class she needed to get her degree. Nonetheless, (Y/n) was excited to be on the trip.

"My daddy's so pathetic!" Molly continued on her rant. "Just a 'daddy please!' and I'm swimming in credit cards he pays off at the end of every month."

Molly was (Y/n)'s friend: she's the prettiest and richest girl in the entire school. Unfortunately, due to (Y/n) and Molly's friendship, Molly stole a spot in this school from someone who actually deserved it; she took dumb blonde to the next level. Molly wasn't a blonde, however, she was a light brunette with the ombré finish and the brightest green eyes you'll ever see. (Y/n) wouldn't dare lie and say she'd seen a woman more gorgeous than Molly.

She wasn't your stereotypical fake bitch you'd see in the shoes either; Molly was entirely natural: skinny with some boob and butt with a tan from going to the beach all the time. The only slightly unnatural part to Molly was the botox in her lips, but (Y/n) couldn't judge, she pulled it off pretty well after all.

(Y/n) could only judge her toxic nature: Molly was a spoiled rotten brat who only cared about herself. The girl was gorgeous on the outside, but she was ugly on the inside. Molly bullied everyone, it was hard to tell though when she started off by giving small insults and stupid names. It always eventually turned into something worse though. She did drugs and put her own mother in prison for making a convincing case that her mother was the one giving her the drugs when her mother was a well put together jewesh woman who just wanted to have a put together, self sufficient little girl.

Despite this monster of a friend (Y/n) had, she never allowed herself to partake in the drugs, the violence, and the prostitution her toxic friend was trying to make her do. (Y/n) was too smart for that; she came from a bad home in the country after all and she didn't need anymore proof than that to see what greed and over dependence does to a character.

That's not to say that (Y/n) didn't always enjoy spending time with this toxic individual; like most toxic people, there's always something good about them that prevents you from leaving. Molly was a different person around (Y/n), but that doesn't mean she wasn't as toxic. She was as toxic as ever, but a little nicer to be around when she had a moment to geek out and be the nerd she couldn't be around the other popular people. Change was possible for everyone, but just because deep down Molly was the slightest bit different didn't mean she'd change for the better.

(Y/n) shook her head at the thought and placed a smile on her lips to pretend like she was enjoying the conversation taking place in the group she stood in. A part of Molly's posse was Tom (her sucky boyfriend), Tiffany (Molly's best friend), Erin (the social stalker), and William (Tom's best friend). The other kids on the trip weren't the best, but also had no relation to (Y/n). The only one (Y/n) ever had trouble with was a couple known as "Bonney and Clyde" though their real names were Maddy and Evan, she wasn't worried about them though.

"Alright students! If you've given your luggage to Mrs. Maverick then you can get on the bus!" Mr. Edwards called out to the students.

"Well that's what we did." Tom said with a chuckle before becoming line leader with Molly and leading everyone in the posse onto the bus. (Y/n) was last to enter the bus, trying to avoid sitting with anyone.

They went to the back; Molly and Tom sat next to each other, William and Tiffany sat in front of them, Erin was off with her boyfriend, and (Y/n) got a seat to herself. For the reason of Erin having a boyfriend, (Y/n) was thankful; she didn't want Erin finding any of her well hidden accounts where she posted personal/family things.

Slowly, the bus loaded up with the rest of the 10 students; then the 4 teachers. The bus almost fell silent, only small conversations were taking place between small groups, everyone else was caught up in their phones.

(Y/n) pulled out a book from her backpack, as well as her headphones: she was more than ready to head out onto the road. She smiled at the cover of the book. The cover was an image of the sea with storm clouds rolling in, they almost covered the moon.

"The Storm of Poseidon"

The book was about two scientists with an odd belief of the gods in Greek Mythology. The two were brilliant, yet they were also complete idiots. They made their sacrifices fairly, that was until a new scientist in their facility insulted their belief and their god. The rest of the story was one of violence and blood lust. (Y/n) had yet to read the ending, but from what she'd heard, the two scientists were together and the other scientist had later insulted their sexuality— it made (Y/n) not like the other scientist even more as he was homophobic.

So far it was a very good book. One that (Y/n) was about to indulge in when their principal stepped into the bus.

Mr. Antonia was stern and blunt. He had a no nonsense rule, yet was very easily bribed. The man was very well known across the school for his harassment of younger students and, of course, his violent assault on Mrs. Green that almost killed her.

(Y/n) tried to avoid this man at all costs, a fear drove her away from him: a fear of her life rolling back to the way it once was and staying that way. Unfortunately, she couldn't avoid him this time, but she also wasn't in any danger with him here. There was a tension growing in the bus, but nobody even made a peep. A bad aura surrounded this man and anyone who'd dare to speak would quickly drown in it.

"I'd like to congratulate the 16 of you for attaining the privilege to go on this trip. This trip is about survival and working together. We are all a community, we are all related to one another. I hope this trip will enhance your relationships with one another as well as reach you all something about respect. While you're there, you may meet an acquaintance of mine, but that shouldn't concern you. I hope you all enjoy the trip and return safely. I look forward to seeing you all back in the classrooms. Good day."

(Y/n)'s (e/c) eyes followed the principal off the bus. A wave of curiosity hit her, followed by another wave of concern. The waves of emotions continued to hit, stronger and faster until they died down with the movement of the bus. She watched the school shrink as they drove farther and farther away from it. (Y/n) turned her head away from the window, leaving her worries behind, trying to prepare to have fun. She turned her attention to her book, prepared to forget the world around her. But one thing continued to pop up in her mind...

"While you're there, you may meet an acquaintance of mine, but that shouldn't concern you."

'What does that even mean?' (Y/n) pondered, taking a glance up from her book. The bus was now filled with chattering students; the teachers were scrolling through their phones and chatting as well. (Y/n) knew that she wouldn't be able to ask for an answer; she also knew that she couldn't express her concern to anyone.

It was then when (Y/n) noticed that Maddy was staring at her with a death glare. She gave a nervous smile to the girl before turning her attention back to the book. (Y/n) never knew what the girl had against her, but Maddy was always insanely aggressive whenever she was around. William had stopped Maddy from attacking her once, and for that she was ever grateful, despite the harassment she received from the boy. (Y/n) feared the worst and kept her guard up.

It was probably halfway to the rural resort when Maddy finally walked over to (Y/n). All the teachers were sitting at the front, so they were all ignorant to what would soon happen. Maddy was red in the face with her bushy brown brows furrowed. Her teeth were gritted and her chest was heaving with rage. (Y/n) felt her stomach drop and slowly put her book down.

"Hello Maddy, can I help you?" (Y/n) asked, keeping calm and on guard. She gave her an crooked smile and laughed. Maddy then grabbed (Y/n)'s book and tore it in half, throwing it out the window.

"Stop dressing like a whore! You're a fucking fatass and you look like shit. Go rot in hell you ugly bitch!" She snarled at (Y/n). (Y/n) was now the one who felt an anger boil inside of her.

"What did I do to you?! You better buy me a new book." (Y/n) growled back, watching as Maddy rolled her eyes. Maddy went to punch (Y/n) when Tom grabbed Maddy's wrist. Maddy's expression suddenly held pain as Tom twisted it, but not far enough to do real damage.

"Get back to your seat, psycho." Tom warned the rage filled shit show of a girl as he let go of her wrist. Maddy growled, then huffed and went back to sob to her boyfriend. (Y/n) was about to thank Tom when he scoffed. "You're not dressed like a whore, but you are a fat ass bitch. I only helped you because your friends with Molly."

(Y/n) swallowed hard on nothing and nodded. Tom turned back in his seat and silence filled the back row. Suddenly, Molly was bursting out laughing. (Y/n) gritted her teeth and blushed with embarrassment.

"Wow. That sure was something. Don't worry (Y/n), I'll buy you a new book. At least now you could let a little loose and show us how to appreciate this nature bullshit. That okay with you country girl~?" Molly purred with a giggle. (Y/n) forced herself to smile and nodded, though she felt like crying and screaming.

When the attention was finally off of her, (Y/n) turned up the volume on her music and closed her eyes. Warmth graced her reddened cheeks and a frown fell on her lips. Now she was crying, but she kept her screams silent and internal. The music eventually drowned out her cries, her pain now in the form of notes, keys, and lyrics. Soon enough, the music drowned away her vision as well as she fell asleep.

Stepping off the bus the scent of soggy, recently trimmed grass graced the groups nostrils. Some students grimaced, other students smiled and inhaled deeper. (Y/n) was one of those other students. A part of her missed the outdoors, which is why she begged (and blackmailed) Molly to help her get on this trip. The whistling of birds made (Y/n) smile. Turns out, they weren't as far from the resort as she thought they were when the Maddy incident happened. In fact, the resort was surrounded by the woods they were driving through in that moment. A part of (Y/n) wondered if she'd be able to find her book.

"Welcome, students, to the Woodside Resort! These next two weeks will be filled with fun, adventure, and education!" An employee of the small resort came to greet them. (Y/n) felt a wave of excitement roll over her.

"Only two of those things go together." A random voice replied from the crowd of students. The employee laughed awkwardly and gritted his teeth.

"Well then! My name is Burt and I'll be taking you all on a quick tour and laying down the ground rules." The employee, Burt, announced to the students. (Y/n) sighed at the comment the student had made earlier, she could already tell these unappreciative students would make this trip underwhelming. "Now if you don't mind, everyone follow me!"

The group was lead to the furthest part of the open yard. At this point were 7 trails breaking off into the woods. Some of these trails lead into darker looking areas whereas some were brighter.

"This is where we'll all be walking through everyday. The far right trail leads to a lake in the middle of the forest. The second trail to the far left is off limits, there is police tape in front of it to remind you that. Only walk down these trails in groups with an adult. There are wolves and deer in these woods and even though the wolves usually stay away from the trails, you can't always count on it." The guide was about to walk off when he abruptly stopped, frozen. Burt then slowly turned his head back to the group; his eyes looked up from the ground to the faces of these reckless young adults. "And one more thing... don't go into the woods at night."

The group followed Burt as he began to walk toward an area with a fire pit. (Y/n) was going to follow when she was suddenly pulled back by Molly.

"Come on! Let's go check out that police taped trail." She beckoned dragging (Y/n) behind her toward the trail. (Y/n) tugged her hand away, prompting Molly to turn toward her with a scowl on her face. "What?"

"You heard what he said. I don't want to get kicked off this trip so soon." She denied, not wanting to get sent back for disregarding the rules.

"We won't. If you want a new book you are coming with me." Molly crossed her arms and glared at (Y/n). Now she felt a little conflicted, but continued to try and explain why they shouldn't.

"But what if we get caught and kicked out?"

"If we get caught, the blame is on me and if they try to kick either of us out, I'll make sure daddy bribes them to keep both of us in. Deal?" (Y/n) bit her lip, hesitant. She sighed and looked down at Molly's outstretched hand.

"You promise?"

"Promise." (Y/n) took Molly's hand and they continued toward the trail. Now you may think that this was reckless of (Y/n) to go with Molly, but if there is one thing (Y/n) has learnt it's that Molly never breaks a promise. Not to mention, if she did break their promise, (Y/n) could ruin Molly's entire life with years of bullying and proof of making (Y/n) do her work.

The two carefully stepped over the police tape and slowly walked on the trail, looking around. There was nothing, just leaves covering the trail. Molly sighed in disappointment and continued looking around. (Y/n) watched from behind and tensed when she felt a presence behind her.

(Y/n) felt herself shiver before freezing up once more. A warmth radiated off the figure standing behind her and as it got closer, she felt warmer. Suddenly, a cold finger traced a line up (Y/n)'s arm. How in the world this figure went from warm to cold was something (Y/n) just couldn't comprehend. Fear began to cloud her mind and her breathing quickened. This could be a serial killer or even a rapist. Either way, bad news.

Molly suddenly turned around and the opposing temperatures were gone. (Y/n) didn't feel like there was anything behind her anymore. In fact, she began to wonder if it was her imagination. (Y/n) could see the disappointment on Molly's face and gave a sympathetic smile.

"L-let's head back to the group before we get in trouble."

"Yeah..."

When they got back with to the group, they realized that they had missed the information given about the fire pit. It seemed as soon as they arrived to the fire pit, they were leaving it. Headed toward the main building in fact.

"He pretty much just said we'll be meeting at the fire place every night and that we'll roast marshmallows tonight." William said, catching (Y/n) up to speed as well as taking her hand in his. She internally cringed and tried to lose his hand, only managing to lose it for a second before he took it back with a tighter grip that made her wince.

They were all stopped in the lobby of the building. Burt folded his hands behind his back and put in a customer service smile.

"Alright everyone! That's our quick tour for today. Now! Your teachers have put your belongings in your rooms and will inform you which room is yours and who you're rooming with. We will meet in two hours at the fire pit and then we'll have a fresh start to our first day tomorrow! I'll see you all soon!" Burt walked off and Mrs. Maverick stood in front of the crowd of students. She began calling names and room numbers, handing the pairs their room key cards and sending them off.

"Molly and (Y/n)!" Mrs. Maverick called, the two girls looked at each other before walking up. "Room 15. Second floor."

They took their keycards and headed up to their room, making small chat. Now when they said this resort was small, they meant small. There were only 20 guest rooms in this building. This resort was reserved for schools and the rich or more fortunate. The resort wasn't special, just quiet and peaceful with nice views and a big lake. It was a popular vacation spot for people who just wanted to get away from the city. The only thing that made this resort more special was the massages they did for those who could afford them. (Y/n) definitely wasn't planning on doing that.

Arriving at the room, they were quick to realize why this building was decently big. Their room was like an apartment. It had a kitchen, a dining room, a living room, and a hallway (Y/n) imagined lead to the bedrooms and bathroom. She soon found that to be true as she found her stuff in one of the bedrooms. Molly scoffed and plopped herself down on (Y/n)'s bed.

"You know, for a shitty place, I thought it would be like a hotel room. This is surprising." Molly sighed. She looked up at (Y/n) and ran her eyes up and down her visible body. "You look good at this angle. Nice tits."

(Y/n) felt her face darken in a deep blush, embarrassment running through her head. "M-Molly!"

Molly laughed and quickly left the room, going to her own to unpack. (Y/n) huffed and unpacked her own stuff. She hung her clothes up in the closet and put her bras and underwear in the drawers, as well as her pants and shorts. (Y/n) placed her sketchbook on the side table and put her medicine, as well as her laptop, on the desk. Once unpacked, she took a minute to lay down.

The rooms didn't have TVs, so (Y/n) stated at the ceiling, watching the fan spin above her. She smiled slightly and felt her eyes close, darkness taking over her vision. Perhaps the trip wouldn't end up so bad, maybe she would have fun or at least find peace. (Y/n) might even have the chance to take a minute and message her family. School had been filling her schedule to the brim, so it was nice to have a break for once.

(Y/n) found peace with herself and decided she'd take a nap before having to head to the fire pit. She set a timer for two hours and squirmed to get beneath the blankets. Once she was comfortable, (Y/n)'s eyes closed and she drifted off to sleep.

Slender watched as (Y/n) entered the building. She had this aroma that was just drawing him in. Slender knew that she was the owner of the torn book Toby found at the edge of his woods. In fact, it was a book that he had read and enjoyed himself. Trender had recommended it to him and despite his usual distaste for the Greek gods, he enjoyed the book. He enjoyed the book so much, he even took it upon himself to tape of back together and return it to it's owner.

Unfortunately, for Slender, he couldn't stay with the girl long, for he had to meet with an old friend about some business. Slender knew he would return, however, for her scent was just divine and her skin had just felt so smooth and warm. So warm in fact, it made his own cold body heat up. This victim was drawing him in and he was loving it. He knew she was terrified of him after all and it would be a challenge to build any sort of relationship, but no matter what he knew he'd keep her.

(Y/n) awoke to a gift resting beside her. It was her book, taped together and surprisingly clean. Who would've put it there? Had she really lost it? And if it was just some hallucination that had happened on the bus, why was it broken? The questions were endless in (Y/n)'s mind, but none of them had any answers. She thanked whoever returned her book before brushing it off and going to get Molly for the fire pit thing.

She knocked gently and heard giggling inside. (Y/n) sighed, realizing Tom was in there with her. Molly huffed from inside and groaned.

"Go on without us! We'll be out in a minute." (Y/n) rolled her eyes and did as asked. She put in her shoes and went out to the fire pit, finding two of the teachers there as well as a few of the students. Burt was there too. (Y/n) decided she'd take the chance to ask about that closed off trail.

The young woman made her way over to Burt, and from further observation she could tell that Burt was most likely in his mind twenties, in other words: not much older than (Y/n). Burt glanced up at (Y/n) and smiled; it was genuine and kind.

"Can I help you miss?" He asked, sounding friendly enough. (Y/n) smiled back and nodded. She took a breath and glanced back at the trails. Her attention turned back to him and she softened her smile and asked her question.

"I was just curious a-and was wondering why the trail was closed off?" (Y/n) asked, offering another smile to the man. He paused slightly, seeming suddenly fearful and nervous before he gave a soft chuckle and smiled.

"Oh there were just some wolves over there who seemed to have marked their territory there and we haven't managed to shoo them off. It's further down the trail though, so just don't go down that way, alright hun?"

"Y-yeah, alright. Thank you." (Y/m) nodded and made her way to a log. She took her seat and glanced at the fire in the pit. It was small at the moment, but she knew it would only grow bigger. (Y/n) thought that it was kind of nice to be sitting in a group of people and soon be eating s'mores. Perhaps everyone would share a story as well, but that thought may have just been childish.

It wasn't much longer when Molly and Tom came out and sat next to (Y/n). Molly would've been all over Tom if the log weren't a good 2 feet away from each other. More and more students were beginning to come out as the sun set behind some trees.

"I figured out why that trail's closed off, Molly." (Y/n) told her toxic friend. Her statement quickly caught Molly's attention and she was quickly asking for more details. "Burt said that wolves marked territory there and that they haven't been able to scare them off, so in order to prevent any accidents they closed it off."

"That makes sense." Molly said with a nod. They soon all turned their attention to Burt as he announced the beginning of their night and the fun began. Stories were told, s'mores were made, and even some drinking happened. (Y/n) only drank a little, she had remembered the teacher's mentioning it, but she didn't realize it would actually happen. For the sake of being safe, she didn't drink much, and to prevent any shame or embarrassment, she left a little while after drinks were being chugged down. At this point, she was just tired and wanted to sleep.

Her bed was more welcoming the second time around. The drinks had her slightly buzzed so she was more than ready to fall asleep. With her stomach stuffed with sweets and her nose full of burning wood, she was ready to fall asleep. (Y/n) accepted this day to be a decent start to her field trip. But what she didn't know, was that things would get worse, or perhaps just weird.
