Chapter 20
** GHOST POV **
Plan C: The backup to the backup plan in case Gio somehow fucks up further.
In the case that Plan B is commenced and compromised, Plan C is for when we are being trailed by cops. Originally we would just take a straight route to the harbor undetected, and deliver the target to the boat. Since that plans fucked, Rebel and Storm are going to take another car, meet us at the rendezvous point, and we deliver the package once we get an opening.
"You're going to have to get us far enough away from the cops so that we have a 5 second window. Can you do that?" I said to Damon as I grabbed my two guns from my belt and cocked them.
"Easily." Damon said as he drifted another corner.
"Damon, I downloaded the route to the navigation. Just follow the path and Rebel and I will meet you at the drop off point." Storm said through the line.
"Got it." Damon said calmly as he continued to speed through the city. The navigation screen showed a path full of intricate turns throughout the city. I reached down into the center console and pulled out another gun.
"Redeem yourself." I growled as I threw it at Gio, how caught it perfectly and smiled.
I opened the sunroof, and stepped onto the center console so my upper body was out of the car. I brought both of my arms up, guns in hand, as I started shooting rapidly.
I shot four drivers in the head with ease, sending their cars swerving off the road. One of them started to roll over, causing two more cars behind it to crash into the destroyed vehicle.
"Hold on babe." Damon said as made a sharp turn, making me lose my balance slightly. He wrapped a muscular arm around my thighs in order to keep me in place.
Gio was practically hanging out of the window and shooting out the tires of other vehicles with ease, making them swerve and crash into other cars. Even though he was a moron, he was a hell of a shot.
We were headed towards an intersection, and just as we were about to cross it, three armored trucks came at us from different directions. With Damon still holding onto my thighs, he quickly hit his breaks, and turned the car, doing a 360 degree spin while driving around one of the armored trucks to his right. I held onto the roof of the car while it spun wildly. As soon as the car finished its turn, he floored it, causing the back end of the Range Rover to fishtail as he sped down the street.
The armored cars rammed into each other, before quickly backing up, and speeding towards us. The outside of their cars were bulletproof, and the guards inside had AK-47's, aimed right at us. I ducked back into the car for cover as bullets rained down on us as they got closer.
"Fox, please tell me there's something powerful enough in this car to take down those trucks?" I said over the gunfire, Gio sat back in the car as he reloaded his gun.
"Of course. In the glove compartment, you should see a small black box. Open it." Fox said seriously as Damon drifted another corner. I did what she said, and when I opened the small box I saw dozens of small disks laying inside. They were thin, and fit into my palm perfectly. On the top of the disks, was a circular light that was green.
"What the fuck are those things going to do?" Gio yelled as Axel was looking at them with a bewildered expression on his face.
"G, it was automatically attach to whatever surface you throw them at." Fox explained as I took a disk in my hand. I rolled down my window to see an armored truck speeding up behind us. I looked at the approaching car in the side mirror before I tossed the disk, making it fly backwards and stick to the front of the car.
I saw the green light on the disk flash red as soon as it attached to the front of the armored truck. Within a second, the disk exploded, and the front of the armored truck blew off, sending the armored truck flying backwards into the air.
"Fancy." Damon smirked, his demeanor was still deadly calm as Gio and Axel looked back at the explosion with wide eyes. The armored truck blocked the road, buying us some time as we continued down the long curvy road.
"G, we're nearing the rendezvous point." Storm called out in my ear piece. Up the road, we saw a black Escalade speeding towards us on the other side of the road.
"Jump on my command. Do not fuck this up." I scowled as I looked back at Gio.
He nodded before opening the door while the car was still speeding down the street. Gio grabbed Axels arm, who had his eyebrows furrowed. I looked ahead and saw that Rebel opened up the backdoor to their car.
When Storm's car neared us, he drifted his car, so that the his back wheels skidded to the right while Damon drifted towards him, making the front of his car go towards the right as well. Damon and Storm drifted in a circle, until the backdoors were lined up perfectly, giving us an opening for Gio and Axel to jump into Storms car.
"NOW!" I yelled as Gio grabbed Axel and they both jumped into Storms Escalade, falling onto the backseat. The backdoors closed due to the momentum from the drifts. The boys completed their turns, doing a donut. Damon straightened out his wheel, speeding down the street in our original direction while Storm was headed the opposite way.
"Drop complete. We'll meet you at the harbor." Rebel said through the mic.
"Got it." I said as we maneuvered through the city. Since we lost the police chasing us, all we had to do was take a different route to the harbor. I watched as Damon skillfully drove through the city with ease, drifting corners and maneuvering the narrow streets as if it was nothing.
"Shit G. All of the Los Angeles police department is headed your way." Fox said quickly.
"Plan D, baby?." Damon asked as he raised an eyebrow while still looking at the road.
"Plan D." I said as I cocked my gun, too distracted to scold him for his new little nickname for me.
Plan D:
Police keep pursuing us, we take the roads by the cliff, get them off our backs while we kill them, and make it to the harbor. Easy.
Damon took a sharp left turn towards The Cliffs, a scenic drive that was only a one way road. It took us around a mountain that overlooked the ocean below us. The perfect place to pick off the cops one by one.
He sped down the road while I took my position out of the sunroof. I grabbed two disks in my hands, and threw them at the two closest cars to us, hitting both of them on their roofs and making him explode and crash into a third car in between them, sending them flying off the cliff.
Behind those two were the armored trucks. I grabbed a handful of disks and started to fling them at the cars, making the device stick to the front bumpers, hoods, and roofs the cars.
Explosions went off sporadically behind us, destroying multiple cars, and taking out the armored cars completely. I grabbed my gun and started to shoot the guards that were driving the vehicles while Damon continued to drift through the difficult path.
"G, we have a problem." Fox said in a low voice.
"What now?" I growled as I shot one of the drivers in the head, making his car turn sharply and fall off the edge of the cliff.
Four helicopters started to rise up from the side of the cliff, all their guns pointed directly at us.
"Jesus Christ." I breathed as I jumped back into the car, avoiding the bullets that rained down on us. This was not part of the plan.
"Plan E." I screamed over the loud booms of gunfire.
"Plan E?" Damon said in confusion. There was no Plan E.
"Do whatever it takes to fucking survive." I said as I grabbed two disks. Damon reached the end of the scenic path and sped onto the main streets, swerving rapidly through traffic as the helicopters continued to shoot at us.
Once their bullets ceased, I stuck my upper body out of the sunroof, and threw two disks as hard as I could, successfully hitting two helicopters. They exploded, sending the blades of their propeller hurling towards us. Damon quickly sped up to avoid the car getting hit with the debris that fell from above. His eyes rapidly scanned the tall buildings surrounding us, before he turned into a parking garage.
"What the fuck are you doing?" I said frantically as he sped through the levels of the parking garage, dozens of police cruisers following closely behind us.
"Do you trust me?" He said as he drifted a tight corner and ascended up another ramp.
"Damon-" I said as I watched the police lights behind us get closer and closer
"Do you trust me?" He said again with an edge in his voice. He turned another corner as we continued to drive up the levels of the garage while he looked over at me with furrowed eyebrows.
"Yes." I said as I looked at him. Our eyes were locked for a moment before he turned his attention back onto the road.
"How many more explosives do we have?" He asked as we neared the top floor.
"Three." I said as I looked down at the almost empty box.
"Perfect. Hand them to me." He said as he held out his hand. I placed the disks in his palm, wrapping my hand over his as I held it tightly.
We drifted into the top floor of the parking garage, and Damon floored it, heading straight towards the edge of the building. He rolled down his window and thew a disk at the concrete barricade in front of us, causing it to explode before he hit the nitrous and sent our car flying off the edge of the building.
We were headed straight towards the rooftop of another parking garage a few hundred feet away from us. I grabbed the dashboard and prepared for impact as we flew through the air. While still in the air, he quickly grabbed another disk, and threw it at the concrete barrier on the other building, destroying it and creating a clear path so we can land.
The car skidded as we roughly landed onto the roof of the other building. Damon quickly gripped the wheel and drifted into the parking garage. He sped towards a row of parked cars, and slammed on his breaks. He quickly got out of the car and ran towards a black Audi S7 that was parked near us.
I got out of the car as he elbowed the window, shattering it, before he reached in and unlocked the doors. He pulled out a knife with one hand and started to hot wire the car as I grabbed the weapons in the Range Rover and walked towards him.
"How did you know we were going to clear that jump?" I asked angrily as I stood next to him.
"I didn't." He said seriously as sirens were wailing in the distance as the Audi S7 roared to life.
"You what?" I said furiously as I glared at him. He stood up and dusted off his pants before turning around to face me.
"I didn't." He said as he smirked at me.
"You reckless motherfucker!" I said as fury consumed me. I threw a punch at him, which he blocked with ease.
"You could have fucking killed us!" I screamed as I threw another punch at him face. He grabbed my wrist before he pulled it down and behind him. He wrapped an arm around the back of my neck before pulling me closer to him and smashing his lips against mine.
My anger was soon replaced with shock as his soft lips dominated me. I stood there, trying to process what was happening as his lips were pressed against mine. Eventually, I gave in, and my tense body relaxed slightly under his hold and my eyes closed while I leaned into the kiss.
The sirens in the distance started to grow louder, and he pulled away from the kiss as he looked at me with a serious expression painted on his face. He quickly turned around and got into the drivers seat. I took a deep breath as I quickly walked over and got into the passengers seat.
Damon smoothly pulled out of the parking spot, and drove past the Range Rover. He rolled down his window and threw the last disk over his shoulder, making the device attach to the side of the car before he stepped on it and sped towards the exit of the garage.
"I would never let anything happen to you." He said seriously as he placed a hand on my thigh. We watched as the Range Rover exploded behind us and cop cars sped past us, while a wave of emotions flooded over me like a tsunami.
