Chapter Eight: Wrapping Up for the Day *Sachiko*

Rau's room was a total mess. Books and papers lay on the ground, scattered as if a tornado had struck it. It was kinda scary to me, honestly.

"Rau's room was never this messy," FC Akino remarked as he kneeled down to check. "Some of them are his current works, too..."

"He wouldn't make his room this messy," FC Choiseung shook his head. "Meaning that the kidnappers used his paper to write out the threatening letter. It was typed to hide handwriting recognition too, so it's possible that he was the first one to be taken."

"That does make sense," Conan's eyes lit up when he realised what this meant. "So it's possible that this room could hold more clues than the other rooms!"

FC Lizzy nodded, "That fits in. Any other clues we need to know, by the way?"

"Well, we found the Pentagram sword in Keita's room," Tecna reported. "It's a bit worrying, to be honest."

"That's funny," Shirou frowned. "We found the Enma Blade in Mamoru's room."

"Chenhua's watch was in Otousan's room," Ran added.

"Rau's watch ended up in Nebok's room," Sayaka mumbled. She was clearly still trying to handle Nebok's disappearance as much as she could.

"So it's all messed up," Conan frowned. "But why drop them there? Why mess them up this way?"

"A challenge, maybe?" Yuujin offered. "It makes sense, considering how much of a grudge these people may have."

"So they're thinking that it's impossible for us to find them," FC Junko frowned.

"That's conceited," FC Lizzy mumbled. "And messed up at the same time."

"A lot of people are," Daisuke sighed.

"This just gets worse when we remember that they were all taken at night. In one night, all the leaders plus Rau and Chenhua were taken," FC Jorogumo gripped her fists. FC Rasen gave her a comforting pat, while FC Movien and FC Kagemi rubbed circles into her back.

"This only serves to worry us," Dingyo held her son in her arms, looking a bit worried. "Hana... Duri..."

"Thankfully the HS kids aren't here. If that was the case, HS Duri, HS Hana, HS Haeil and HS Taeyang would be gone too. And we can't have that. The entire Tobot Pilot group would be in chaos and shambles," Dukun sighed.

"Agreed," Genki nodded. "For now, we need to find them and stop the kidnappers."

"But why take them?" I spoke up. "I mean, we all know that they're not leaders at all."

"Maybe it's a warning?" FC Keisuke guessed.

"That's too vague," Matarou shook his head.

"WAY too vague," Kuuka mumbled.

Sarah groaned, "Oh whatever. This is too much. I need to throw something out the window."

"We're in the middle of the ocean, Sarah," her adopted father reminded drily. "So that's not a good idea."

Will (well, the ex-demon Will Cipher, not Will Solace) exhaled, "Whatever it is, we still need to rescue them, so let's look around."

"Sounds like a plan," FC Natsume nodded. "We need to put our clues together, though. Can you guys do that?"

"I can do that," Daisuke offered. "Most of us should head to the other rooms to check, too."

"Good idea. Our cabin will stay here," Rantaro stated.

"I'll head to Keita's room to check," Shinsuke's eyes hardened. He was ready to help out, I guess.

"I'm going to Satoshi's room," Tomoki declared.

"Hyung and Duri-hyung's rooms are mine," Semo deadpanned, leaving no room for any other offers.

"Leave Hwejang's room to us," Taesan announced.

"I'll take Robert's room," Sora, or Wang-nee as we called her, added.

"I'll deal with Kaede and Jime-nii's rooms," Naegi offered.

As everyone took their specific rooms, I couldn't help but notice that FC Akino was quiet throughout the entire thing. Once in a while, his eyes floated to FC Choiseung, but then it slipped away quickly like an eel.

I blinked. Was he feeling guilt for what he had done earlier? It was a bit of a surprise, considering how angry he had been. Maybe it was Yame-nee? I didn't doubt her talking skills, as on par to Dukun's level as they were, but it was a bit too fast, if you ask me.

Meh, I'm being paranoid. Guess I should tone it down a bit.

I exhaled a breath of relief once he was asked to join the FCs in searching FC Ryaku's room, which he eventually agreed to, albeit hesitantly. At least he would be out of the way. At some point. I felt bad about thinking bad of him, but I had good reason to. He had accused his friend, his own BEST FRIEND, of kidnapping his dad and other best friend out of fear and jealousy. It was ridiculous, and I don't get along with that kind of person. I couldn't believe him at all. Did he consider their friendship one-sided? It wasn't fully two-sided for sure. Choiseung was considered an outsider to their trio. A third wheel of sorts. It really reminded me of Leo-nii, and it broke my heart.

"Sachiko?" I was snapped out of it by Rantaro-nii, who looked concerned as he waved a hand over my face. "You still with us?"

"Y-Yeah," I nodded, yet my scarlet eyes refused to meet his lime green eyes. What could I say if he asked me? I personally didn't know what to say, too. How could I tell him that I suspected one of us? Our group was built on trust and friendship. It was wrong to start doubting the others.

Then again, that was exactly what we had done once, with the Elders. Course, back then we had valid reasons. The entire conspiracy tied to the Portal. They were threatening to kill my Bonded partner and Akame-nii. How couldn't we be worried and determined at the same time?

Now, though, we were supposed to be closer than before. The danger had passed. It made me feel like I was pulling the entire group down with me.

I released a sigh of frustration, pinching my nose. I have to stop letting my prejudices get to me. It was so tiring when it ended up being baseless.

"Hey, don't worry," he patted my head, smiling all the while, as if trying to comfort me. "We'll save them."

"Alright then. Thank you, Rantaro-nii," I gave him a grateful smile.

He waved it off, "You worry too much, don't you?"

"A bit," I blushed. It was a bit embarrasing to me. Dav-nee had always said that I was a bit too intense. I couldn't help it, but it still happened a lot. WAY TOO MUCH.

"Anyway, it's getting late. We should get some rest," FC Keisuke spoke up.

"Wait, really?" I asked. Surprise was clear in my tone.

"Time really flies, doesn't it?" FC Choiseung said, eyes looking at the darkening sky. I noted that it seemed a bit glazed too. Was something wrong with him? Or was he thinking?

"But we should investigate first, so let's do that before we conk ourselves out," Conan reminded us.

"Right," Elsa nodded, moving to gather up the papers that had been tossed around so carelessly.

I headed to the window, using the bed to lift my eyes up to the right height. As I scanned the place, I noticed a powdery substance on the windowsill, so I leaned in and took some into my hand. I sniffed it slightly.

"What did you find, Chiko?" Dukun looked over, his analytical caramel eyes looking at what I had found.

"I'm not too sure either. It doesn't have much of a scent," I admitted, taking an evidence bag from the pile on the bedside table and letting it fall inside. "It may be something magical, like pixie dust, though."

"I'll analyse it," Tecna took it from me gently, smiling at me as she did. "Nice work, Chiko."

I gave her a smile back, saying, "No worries, Tecna-nee."

The two of us could be considered close, since Dav-nee had been close to both of us. After leaving the non-fictional world, we had bonded together over this last year, and I felt happy. I knew that Dav-nee would be proud of us. I just hoped that we could solve this case.

Our search soon turned out quite futile, though, so we headed back and reported this to the others, whose own searches had given no fruit. This was definitely frustrating, but we told each other that it was okay, we could get through this. We just had to have faith and trust in each other. Once that was over, we headed to our cabins to get some rest. We hoped that tomorrow would be a better day.

In a few hours, we would soon regret thinking that the kidnappers were done taking people. They weren't. They were hungry for trust issues and problems within us, and they wanted to rip us apart at the seams.

No matter what it took.
