🌸Chapter 5🌸

Ivana

The next morning, I woke up in my bed. I remember falling asleep in Killian's room. It didn't take me long to realize that he had carried me back to my bedroom. It was nice of him to do that, if anyone found out I fell asleep in his room, the gossip will be spreading like crazy but what I feared most was my dad.

He will probably kill Killian even if he was the Beta's son.

After breakfast, all the unmated werewolves that came to the mating ball were instructed to meet outside on the training fields. There were a few sparring equipments set out. It was a set of trainings that was put in place for everyone to go through. There were hands on combat, weapons combat, agility testing, even a squared glass tank that was filled to the very top and a chain in the middle of it with a cuff.

It was my turn to try the water glass tank. I haven't don't this task. Any other task I was comfortable with and can beat it easily but this task wasn't required back at home. I cuffed my ankle before taking a breath and moving from the board into the water. The chain coiled and I was dragged deep down. The huge clock in front of me began counting down. I curled my body down to grab the chain. My lungs were already squeezing and aching for air.

I tried to calm my mind. I chanted over and over in my head not to panic because it will waste the little air I had in my lungs. Glancing up past the clock I saw Killian sparring with a sword. His eyes flickered to me for a moment and our eyes met briefly before the male he was sparring with swiped his sword at Killian. Killian blocked it effectively. I returned my attention back to the cuff.

I was quickly running out of air. All I had to do was remove the nail from the cuff. It will break it but the nail was stuck. I tugged and pulled but wasn't able to remove it. The air began leaving me. I had little left now and my lungs ached, begging for air.

Fvck!

I'm in trouble.

Killian

She was taking a lot longer than she should under the water. I blocked another move from the male I was sparring with and when I saw Ivana began struggling I stopped breathing. Fear instilled inside of me. She couldn't do it. My whole body moved. I dropped the sword, running like a mad person toward the tank. Lifting my sleeveless shirt, I threw it over my head and climbed up the steps towards the tank, pushing everybody aside until I got to the top.

Jumping down into the water, I swam down towards her feet. She grasped my shoulders and clutched at her chest. I knew she was telling me she couldn't breathe. She needed air. I crawled my way up and grabbed her cheeks; pulling her lips towards me I opened her mouth wide enough to breathe the air I was holding into her mouth.

She calmed down as soon as the air hit her lungs. I went back down to tug on the chain. I noticed that she had the nail halfway out already. I grabbed it and tugged as hard as I can. My first attempt didn't work but my second one released it. The cuff fell apart and I grabbed her waist, pulling us up towards the surface.

When both our heads popped out she and I gasped for air. She looked exhausted as her body had been restricted from air for a long time. I swam us to the edge where people helped us out of the water. Ivana wrapped her arms around me feebly and hid her face in the crook of my neck as she breathed heavily.

I stood up and lifted her into my arms. She wrapped her arms around me weakly.

"It was stuck." She said weakly.

"I know. I saw it when I went down." I whispered.

"Thank you." She replied.

I carried her inside the Palace and up the stairs to her bedroom. When we got there I sat her down on the ground. She wavered a little before she crossed her arms over her chest. I went to grab a towel moving it to wrap around her shoulder.

"Are you okay?" I moved to cup her cheeks. Her lips were slightly tinged purple from the lack of oxygen.

She nodded. "I'm okay."

I pulled her into my chest then. My heart was still racing a mile a minute. Seeing her struggle like that was frightening. It was the most frightening thing I have ever seen. I have done so much at Beta camp but with her it seems I fear many things. My hands cupping her cheek as I pressed the other side of her face to my chest.

"Killian?" She said softly.

"Just let me hold you for a moment." I murmured.

She didn't say anything, except wrapped her arms around my waist as she waited for my heart to stop racing.

She's alive. I kept chanting into my head.

"Are you okay?" She asked after a while. I chortled at that. The crazy female in front of me was going to be the death of me. I can already feel it.

"I should be the one asking you that." I responded.

I allowed her to pull back as she spoke. "I'm okay. Are you okay?"

"You scared the sh!t out of me." I admitted.

"Thank you for saving me, Killian." She said again. "And, uh, for giving me air."

She blushed, her porcelain skin turning a pink color that I loved. I leaned down and kissed her lips for the second time since the first night we discovered we were mates. The taste of her when I brought in her lower lips was heaven. I couldn't get enough of her.

"I will give you anything." I said against her lips, my eyes close as my heart still was beating like crazy.
