chapter two
Kiya Radner
"Dude he was totally checking you out!" Nat said as she nudged me.
"No, no he wasn't. Did you not see that girl walk up and start sucking his face off?" I replied, checking Instagram.
"Just because he's got a girlfriend don't mean he wasn't checking you out. Why don't you like the thought of a guy checking you out?" She asked.
"I'm just not- I'm just bleh," I said.
"Bleh?" She asked.
I nodded. "Bleh. Very bleh. Super bleh."
"What makes you think that?" She asked, furrowing her eyebrows.
"Just look at me, Natalie. I'm not the prettiest of the bunch. I can't imagine me being liked by someone, being checked out by someone. Anything like that." I said, and she sighed.
"Let's just get back to your house. My parents aren't here and there's no food and I'm hungry."
"Your mom's literally in the other room.. Besides we literally just got here!" I said, before realization hit. "You just wanna go see those guys."
"I'm sorry but they actually might invite us to a party! A college party!" She said, getting up.
I followed her actions and grabbed my phone. "Nat, you heard what my parents said. No parties."
"You can stay away from parties as long as you don't get shitfaced like last time." She said. I followed behind her and we started walking to my house, to see my mom and dad walking up to the house.
Soon enough, my dad noticed me. "Natalie! Kiya! Come on, come meet the neighbors yo!"
"Oh dear God." I said, stopping in my tracks with wide eyes.
Natalie smiled, grabbing my hand and forcing me to go with her up to the house that was invaded by hot guys and perfect girls.
"Since we were introducing ourselves, as you know I'm Mac, that's Kelly. Then you already know my youngest, Stella. Then this is my teenage girl, Kiya," My dad said.
"Oh, and her best friend Natalie." My mom cut in.
"It's nice to meet you guys." The boy nodded. "I'm Teddy, this is my best bud Pete. And the rest of us."
I just awkwardly stood there, not knowing what to say.
"Kiya's a shy little shit." My mother butted in, and I glared lightly at her.
"Mrs. Radner that's not nice." Teddy cut in, and she smiled at him.
"Please, call me Kelly."
"Alright, Kelly," Teddy said.
"Well, I'm sure that once Kiya gets to know us, especially me-" Teddy winked at me. "She won't be as shy."
Nobody seemed to notice the gesture, and I knew he wasn't winking at the fact he's attracted to me, but what he was talking about. Nobody even caught on, not even the blonde that sucked his face off. I just ignored the thought, looking away from Teddy's stare, and to my feet.
"So we'll see you around then?" My dad asked and Teddy nodded.
"Definitely."
"Maybe keep it down a bit?" My mom cut in, and everyone looked at her seeing as she had said it loudly.
"Of course." Teddy started, and I didn't hear the rest because I just started mindlessly walking away.
I sat on the porch in a chair, and looked over seeing Natalie flirting with the Pete guy. But he didn't seem interested. He seemed interested in the blonde that Teddy was kissing earlier.
They finally came back, Pete walking with Natalie to the end of their driveway which separated our houses. I walked and met up with her, making awkward eye contact with Teddy. Natalie pulled me into the house, to get something to eat with her. She wouldn't stop talking about Pete, and how incredibly hot he was. I tuned her out, feeling bad but just not wanting to talk about boys right now. I'm a nerd, and I'd like to keep it that way.
