Chapter 16: Promises
Angie's POV.
Sits outside. Letting the cold and cool nighttime breeze blow silently pass, brushing against my skin. Making me shiver a little. But, tried my best to not bothered by the cold wind.
"You're gonna catch a cold, if stay out here." A voice said. Catching the ocean mage attention.
"Didn't know you was still up." I responded. I knew the voice all too well.
"Same goes to you." Logan said. Sitting down on the warm grass right besides me.
I bit my lower lip, flustered stealing glances at the fire mage."How did you know, I'd be out here." I asked.
"Your scent." Logan replied coolly.
I let out a small sigh, that I've been holding in."Right." I said, sheepishly.
Logan looked at me. Concern written all over his face."Something's bothering you." He said.
"Why do you think that?"
"Ever since we came here. You didn't seem very excited."
I laughed sheepishly, rubbing the back of my head."Really now?" I said.
Logan stared at me."What's the matter?" He said. Seriousness raising in his voice. I stopped laughing and frowned.
"I...It's nothing." I replied.
"Angie."
I felt my body flinch when something touched my hand. It was warm. It felt nice. I looked at Logan, to catch a glimpse of a pinkish blush creeping onto his cheeks. Even, if it was kind of dark outside.
I squeezed his hand, for comfort."It's just...." I sighed."I used to live here." I admitted.
Logan looked at me, wide eyes. But, doesn't say anything. Letting me continue.
"But, it was long while ago." I said. Looking up towards the night sky."The name that the villager elder mentioned."
Logan pondered his thoughts, recalling if he'd remembered the village elder mentioning a name."You mean...uh...Hunter Blake?" He questioned. I slowly nodded my head.
"Hunter Blake. Yeah." I said.
"What about him?"
"You see......he's my adopted older brother."
"WHAT?!" Logan cried out.
"Hush!" I hushed him. Mentioning that people was sleeping.
"The enemy is your older brother!"
"Adopted." I corrected.
"Adopted, right."
"We're not that close really." I said. Logan raised an eyebrow. I continued."After, our parent's left. They placed us in someone's care, here in Almead."
Logan squeezed my hand."After a few years. Hunter then left me alone. By myself." I sighed.
"What kind of brother would do that!!" Logan said. Gritted his teeth, feeling frustrated.
"Calm down, Logan!!" I said. Trying to calm him down. It took about several minutes, until he finally calm down.
"Do you dislike him?" Logan said. I shrugged my shoulders.
"There's a part of me, that do. But, the other half of me...forgives him." I said.
"......"
"....."
"Logan.." I said.
"Yeah?" Logan replied.
I leaned my weight against him, resting my head on his shoulder.
"You're heavy." He commented.
"Shut up!" I said.
"Angie?" Logan said.
"Yes?" I responded.
"I promise, I'll protect you." Logan said. Serious and determined by his own words. As, if it was he's goal, he's duty to me.
"......" I silently closed my eyes, letting a single tear fall down my cheek.
"Logan..." I whispered.
"It's a promise, alright?" Logan said. Grinning.
"Alright." I said."I'll try my best too." I whispered to the last words. Before, letting my tiredness take hold of me completely.
"Sleep tight, Angie."
Promise to go on many adventures, with me.
