Death came, to no surprise,
and I felt no ounce of fear.
All I felt was sadness
for the ones who held me dear.

I watch you all in mourning,
on the morning my body is laid down,
and all that’s left—after all these years—
is my name
on a slate
on the ground.

Your tears are understandable;
the grins, I get those, too,
but stop with all the questions—
they bring nothing but sadness to you.

Death is just a removal of the body
and an awakening of the soul.
Now each day I wake
with a sense of being whole.

So stop with all the questions—
eternal life is just ahead!
: Not telling you this sooner
is all that I regret;

And since I can not tell you,
I’ll show you signs, instead:
peace, and love, and memories
till you start to forget,

all the questions that once haunted you,
and kept your mind from ease.
Life, and life thereafter—is beautiful,
and death is nothing more than a warm breeze.
