"have you found anything that you like yet, honey?" Mrs. Lee said, approaching her son who was roaming around the cake shop.

Jeno has been silent since they've started, silently looking at the cakes and walking off afterwards.

He hasn't tasted one, his mind was basically somewhere else now after what his supposed-fiancè told him earlier.

"They're cakes mom." Jeno deadpans as he looks up from scanning the two layered cake before him.

"And you haven't tried one of them yet, have a bite, Jen." Mrs. Lee chuckles to herself.

Jeno sighs, "you guys choose. I'll just watch." He said while looking back at the table of wedding cakes on display.

"But this is your wedding, honey. You have to choose what you want for your big day," his mother exaggerates a pout, reaching down to hold his hands.

"You know me, mom. I don't know how to choose." Jeno mumbles as he pursed his lips.

Just as Mrs. Lee was about to say something next to probably scold him a little (jokingly mostly.) Jaemin walks up to them after finishing two bites of the wedding cake Mrs. Na kept fussing about at the other side of the room.

"Has my sweetheart chosen anything that he likes, yet?" He said sweetly, hands in his pockets while he glances between the mother and son duo.

Jeno glares at him whilst his mother beams up at Jaemin the next second. "Ah, Jaemin, please scold Jeno for me. He's being picky." She discreetly winks to let the boy know she was joking.

Jeno widens his eyes at her, "how am I being picky when I literally said I can't choose since I don't know how?" He states, offended at his mother.

Catching on with Mrs. Lee's act, Jaemin grins and wraps an arm around Jeno's waist, pulling the younger closer to his side and secretly liking the way the boy lets out a shy squeak of surprise.

The act reluctantly made Jeno let go of holding his mother's hands. Mrs. Lee smiling up to him innocently.

"I'll accompany him, mother-in-law. This is my wedding too anyways, I'd love to take this opportunity to spend some time with my beloved." Jaemin smirks.

Jeno grits his teeth while Mrs. Lee waves at them happily, "oh alright then, I'll leave you two be and join your mother instead. And please, Jaemin," she paused.

The said boy raised a brow at her in anticipation, "call me 'mom'."

"Excuse me?"

Ignoring Jeno's words, Jaemin sweetly smiles at her and nods. "Okay, mom." He said and waves goodbye at Mrs. Lee afterwards.

"What the fuck are you doing?" Jeno turns around in his hold to face him, face turned into a scowl, hoping it'll atleast scare Jaemin off a bit.

But the elder, as always, only brushed it off. "Spending time with my fiancè? What else would I be doing, honey?" He leans in a little to whisper in to Jeno's ear.

His low voice sent shivers down to the younger's spine. He regains his composure and has the strength to push Jaemin away from him in arms length, "getting the hell away from me, that's what." He retorts before storming off.

Jaemin watches him leave, he's supposed to feel bad at these moments right? And should be running after the younger immediately to apologise.

However, he somehow couldn't. Not when he saw a glimpse of pink on Jeno's soft cheeks.

"Tough marriage?" An employee asked, face flat and looking bored, but the glint in her eyes gave it away that she was just messing around.

Jaemin turns to her and sighs with a small smile, "more likely in process of fixing things with him. He's a tough cookie, atleast– he's trying to." He chuckles.

The employee lightly laughs at his words, "may I ask what happened then to make him... Try to hate you?" She hesitantly asks in a polite manner.

Pursing his lips, Jaemin shrugs and glances back at Jeno who was now far away from him, just standing in a nearby big bouquet stand while he looks around the room.

Probably waiting for them to tell him they should head off now, like a kid waiting for his mom to finish her conversation in a small adults party.

"Just some fucked up thing I did back then that made him lose his trust and stuff." He mumbles, looking back at the employee.

"Ah I see..." She drawls and tilts her head, her slicked back high ponytail sways along. "Well, I hope it goes fine sooner or later." She smiles softly.

"I hope so too." Jaemin gave her a tight smile in return, "I really regret what I did to him– wait, well not like– okay, I regret hurting him."

"But I don't regret bringing Jisung into this world with you, Jeno. I would never call Jisung as a regret. More like– an unexpected gift we weren't ready for, but definitely still grateful."

"We all do once we fall in love with someone." The lady said, fiddling with the ring on her finger unknowingly.

Jaemin glances down and knitted his eyebrows together, "are you married?" He asks, changing the topic onto the lady this time instead of being it about him and his current situation.

Humming and looking down, the lady makes a small 'ah' in realization before slightly chuckling to herself. But to Jaemin, it sounded more sad than she intended it to be.

"Was." She mumbled.

Still confused and not wanting to assume anything, Jaemin tries to guess what she meant but she cuts him off with a sad smile. "Widow."

"Oh, I'm so sorry..." He mumbles, feeling bad that he had ask something so sensitive and now felt guilty.

Noticing his aura, the lady reaches to pat his forearm gently. "It's okay, not your fault," she said and smiles reassuringly.

Nodding a little, Jaemin didn't know what to say next and was grateful that the lady took it upon herself to speak up first, "anyways, anything else you came here for?" She jokes a bit.

Rolling his eyes a little, Jaemin bit his lip as a habit while he scans the wedding cakes on display on the table before him.

"Which one did he looked at the most?" He asks in a determined tone. He earned a grin from the lady before grinning to himself next when she pointed at one of them.
