Briarpaw's eyes blinked open. Light was streaming through the den entrance causing all of the apprentices to start waking up. Briarpaw sat up then stretched in the morning light before padding out of the apprentice den and into the small clearing. She immediately went over to her mentor so they could start training for the day.

"Hello Briarpaw," Goosetail said when she saw Briarpaw heading over. Briarpaw dipped her head towards her mentor and then sat down next to her, "I think we should do some battle training today, then a bit of hunting afterwards."

Briarpaw nodded again and stood up to start padding out of camp, but before she could take a step she heard a voice call behind her.

"Briarpaw, I need to talk to you," the leader Fernstar meowed, Briarpaw nervously glanced at Goosetail before walking towards her leader.
