Chapter 19: The Remaining Week of Purity

Unnaturally, the quiet was encompassing. Not as silence over the village by lack of noise, but of nothing occurring. An unnerving example of peace that those who had grown in times of war were squirming against. Although it was sought, discomfort frequented the common mind with uncertainty in atypical tranquillity. None who had learnt in blood were soothed by this lapse of war, rather driving them instead to crave for a battle, merely for the sake of holding a blade. Senju and Uchiha alike, both, restrained themselves from leaning to familiarity.

Those unaffected predominantly resided within the Uchiha district. Paranoia not striking the Omega's married into the clan, quite adept with the plain boredom. They conducted themselves in normality while their husbands and Hōmupawā attempted to adjust to the triviality of such a life. Another it did not plague was one soon to be counted among the Uchiha brides, Naruto.

Years of much the same had made him complacent with the inactivity, so he merely wandered about. Now, as he became far more recognized, even respected within his future clan he was greeted while simply walking. For him the respectful kindness was far more of a startle then the lack of violence. Of course, his mind was yet still reeling, not from such a mundane knowledge of the bored atmosphere, or uncertain status.

Yes, there stood an understanding among him and others, that his placement had yet to be fully secured. In fact, the air about was so common to him he half expected to be joined by his old sensei and given a perverted comment. Though he did become slightly amused at the thought, considering the Uchiha's interaction with the Hatake was through clashing blades and spilling blood.

A heavy force hitting at the back of his legs almost made him believe he was being attacked by those of the same clan. Stopping that train of thought required he merely glimpse at his surroundings, no one was panicking or drawing weapons, so no, not a hostile.

As it turned out the form-hugging him, was Kagami, the young child he'd grown quite fond of, and who he would indulge with a visit once in a blood moon, when the world was frightful.

"Naru-san!" His voice was pitched high today, and Naruto supposed his mood was elevated away from recent events.

"That was quite the greeting ya know! I was not expecting a tackle so early in the morning." Nathless a laugh forced the fake irritation as irrelevant, ruining the potential scolding/lesson he'd been planning. That did not bare any effect on an Uchiha child of his particular age group, this he put unto the fact that the boy was likely already trained heavily within the bounds of mortal combat. A baine that he wished to never consider, as it was the fate of every Uchiha borne and that was a tragic reality scaring his mentality.

Keeping himself from such tragic thoughts was knowing that day was not for many months yet. In due course with this was the recollection that his wedding was approaching fastly, in merely another month he would be wed, and likely without virginity to account for. The latter idea bringing him to flush red, much akin to the colour of the Bijuu residing within.

Shaking himself, he forced his smile into that of tranquillity. "What do I owe this pleasant visit from my favourite young Uchiha?" Earning a large grin, Naruto felt delighted at the warm response.

"Kou-san said you agreed to meet with him and your fellow Omega today to discuss plans?" Clearly, the youth was curious as to what that involved. Naru did not find himself ready to explain anything pertaining to matrimony, regardless of Kagami being of age -by clan standards-.

So as opposed to giving answer or hint he merely ruffled the short black hair and bid his thanks. Leaving the child to pout after him, as he made haste. Rather escaped, seen as his desires for this day certainly did not include making wedding preparations. Regardless of it being his own ceremony.

Both he and Madara had agreed a small event would be preferable unto both of them. However, such niceties were not acceptable.

Traditionally, the Uchiha would bid the Daimyo to host them -in safety- for a fee of service. This, because the union between the Clan Patriarch and future Matriarch was seen as a sign of great strength. Thus, it was put forth for the entire clan to bare witness of their binding vows and linking of souls, further uniting the clan and upholding morale.

Naori, Naka, even Bou had made this more plain then an undyed cloth. This they always depicted clear with a malicious glint their -often- undarkened gazes. A nervous chill threatened through him at the very memory of such anticipatory glances.

That did attract the attention of the little alpha attached to him. Who bounced away with a tilt of the head and a scuffle of his sandal against the path. "Sorry Kagami-chan, it's not you." Naruto reflected for a moment that his reassurance did not come off as he wished it too. His palms were also nearly coated with a sheen of perspiration for no particular purpose, and the obvious hinting at his true mental state was disturbing him greatly.

"What is plaguing you?" The blond omega breathed deeply, feeling comforted by his small companion. Although it was with the slight annoyance brought on by the fact that his attempt to hide his nerves remained unsuccessful. Naturally, Kagami would not assume his discomfort would be brought by his fellow omega, and indeed that was only part of his reasoning.

"Nothing you need to concern yourself with, adult matters dattebayo." He nearly snapped his mouth shut at that, stupid tick. Naruto was in a state of contemplation, encompassing his entire mind with the stain of deepened thoughts.

Firstly there was the dominating thought of strategy. Mainly that of his name. Holding the title of Uzumaki was fine if you actually held the claim. Something that despite his true heritage he could not do, there remained an active and alive Uzumaki clan within this era, the indigence they would procure whence they found of his deception... Untold.

So this made his best course of action to detach from the clan name as quick as was plausible. Fool or not, Naruto could not keep Uzumaki as a name. Still, in his own strange manner of celebration, he acknowledged that having Uchiha as a distinction would give him far more credibility then currently. In addition to becoming the Matriarch of a well-respected Clan.

Secondly, and perhaps least significant: His courtship with Madara had been such a short affair. That bothered him more then he could bare to speak of without embarrassment onto his mentality. Of course in accord to his hosts -rather the Omega half of the two- this time period was completely normal. Only the ceremonial preparation was a quicker affair then average in lue to Madara's station.

Naruto near snorted at the memory speaking unto him, short indeed, they were to be married in four days. Unashamedly, he had been counting the oncoming sundowns at the cliffside, occasionally accompanied by his to-be, without knowledge of his secret countdown.

Having put it off for an improper amount of time he now had to fit very little preparation into the span of two days. Apparently, Madara could not make any decisions in regard to the wedding, it was seen as a sign of weakness for an alpha, Naruto found that more then slightly irritating.

A week ago, the house of Naori and Kou had been visited by a group of young Uchiha's set with the task to gather the flowers for the ceremony. Luckily for him, Naruto had rather unthinkingly chosen the Sunflower and a Stephanotis as flowers for the decor -a necessity in an Uchiha ceremony.- Which together meant Adoration, loyalty (or pride), and marital happiness. A rather charming pairing, although he had garnered some giggles from the young Uchiha once he had chosen.

Now, as Kagami had said, he was due to meet with his future counterparts for the fitting of his Shiromuku. This, Naruto was rather anticipating, he had spied on many weddings upon the Hokage Monument and was often taken in by how beautiful the omegas were in the pure white of the kimono, a very minor dream of having his own would creep upon him on occasion.

"I am entirely of age Naru!" The pout he pulled managed to make Naruto giggle at how opposing it was. Yet, the Omega said nothing at the hypocrisy of the statement.

Laughter fading as he spotted three Uchiha Omegas standing for him, with an air of distinguished gossip about them. Then of course as expected, they spotted him approaching, and each bore an excited tilt in their smiles. Among them stood Kou-san, his charming brown hair decorated with a single pink blossom nearest his ear. Then, standing off from him to the right, and wearing the most hesitant simper was Wakaba-san. It was relieving that she appeared far less strained from whence I had visited her, still, her hair was frazzled. Beside her, a woman he had not yet met. Short in stature, with long hair below her posterior -every omega within the clan possessed extremely long hair, he noted.- it struck him though, as it was a lightened pink in tone. Starkly snapping his memories into a frenzy of melancholy.

Acknowledging his responsibilities he bid adu to his charming alpha companion and went to meet those who waited, patient.

"Naru, I feared you would flee, do we appear so daunting unto you?" Kou joked a sweetened laugh coming from him as each omega joined. Beside him, the woman Naruto knew not drew herself forward.

"Many greetings Naru-san, I apologize for not introducing mine-self sooner, I admit, I was made wary of your presence." She bowed, due to her height, Naruto almost worried that she would hit her head on the ground. "Uchiha Hanami, Rai no tsuma." Taking a mere moment to straighten himself from calamitous tidings, he forced a smile and gave a brief bow in proper return. Naruto wasn't entirely surprised that Rai had a wife, she looked to be a well-respected member of the clan, older then most in addition to that; so certainly strong even among the many of the much-distinguished warrior clan.

"How now! We must move swiftly! Much to be done!" Expectedly it was Kou who declared such, Wakaba, Naruto knew, would never be so outspoken.

With that, they collectively moved to a special tailor -that Naruto was further glad to note was not Takana's.- Wakaba stated in her normal wispy tone that this was also unusual, as normally they would merely do a fit within the bride's own home, there was an exception here due to his future station. Idle chatter among each of them, wherein Naruto found that Hanami had been from within the Senju and had married her Homupowa after two months of courting. In addition, he learnt that Senju weddings were quite different from Uchiha, as in a Senju unison the Omega held nearly all the power, quite the contrast to Uchiha ceremonies and bondings.

Upon arriving, there was one more person joining their party, to whom Naruto found himself nearly falling faint at the appearance of. For the Hokage stood there, a gorgeous crown of blossoms crowning his head having him appear evermore as the product of nature herself, as he grinned without care.

Naruto could not imagine that he was available to spend his day being so whistful, indeed with his sneering brother a near constant companion ready with a lecturing tone. "Ah! Naruto-kun! An exuberant day yes? As I presently hold the title of Madara's longest friend, I thought you might appreciate some insight into his confounding mind." To this the blond bride-to-be found no objection, in fact a soothing sense of ease came over him at the man's presence.

Kou stepped forward, with an amused raised eyebrow. "Hokage-sama, you do hold knowledge that this is to be an Uchiha Shinto ceremony, do you not? No disrespect meant, however, there will be no Senju traditions followed... You are still most welcome of course, as a friend of the clan, and Madara-sama." Though it was unspoken, those who knew the bride of Naori were well aware, Kou could hardly contain the energy of anticipation swirling about him as a flock of birds. Many of the omegas looking to each other, Naruto and Hanami both hiding snickers behind their hands.

"Of course dear Kou-san, I have no intention of integrating upon your tradition: Senju customs." The smile that rested on him gave such sincerity that none bid him any question. After all, by held standards, Hashirama was a rather pacifistic man, despite long-standing status as a proud shinobi. The others, Naruto noted, seem to ignore this fact as they swooned coyly at his innocent demeanour, even Hanami beside him gave a slight titter. Naruto had to refrain from scratching his head, remembering clearly the many years of the fact being grilled within him; Hashirama Senju was considered the "God of Shinobi." Separating that cultivated image of the omega was no easy task, even while having known him for few months now.

Still, Naruto reasoned, within the academy, he had learnt the Shodai had been an Alpha.

Instead of basking in his own confustication, Naruto took to addressing his fellows with exasperated amusement. "Should we stand about all day?" 'Oh,' he spoke to himself mentally, 'I almost sounded like Kou-san there.' Nathless, of his own impressive turn of phrase, no one paid it any compliment and they all drew themselves into the small doorway of the tailors. Naruto mused once more 'Madara would never fit through such a short doorway, he'd probably have to bend in half.' And laughed a little to himself at his strange thoughts.

Apparently, they were expected by the Uchiha Omega running the establishment for he burst through a curtain of dyed fabrics with a tilted form of questioning body language, and smiled joyfully whence he realized whom he would be serving.

"He is our first clansman to own an establishment such as this. Apparently once the Daimyo heard of the impending ceremony he gifted our clan dozens of rolls of fine silk and cotton. A blessing unto our clan as now we can craft many new clothes for our omegas, and even some suited uniforms for the alphas among us. Nevermore will we have to deal with Tanaka-san." Kou smirked balefully. Naruto did find himself joining, even for the era of the Shodai, the simple hakama they all wore was rather unflattering.

Yet, he found himself pushed to the front of the group, Kou's doing despite their grinning mockery just moments ago. The young short omega beaming up at him as he settled in his forward positioning, and striking his nerves fastly. Giving him reprieve as the man -boy?- bowed low and with such respect that Naruto felt suspicion cloud him. Past experience making him wary. Doubtless, the people of the village he had grown in would have hit him and thrown him through the doors by now. "Uchiha Yukano, Tamidai no hanayome, a pleasure Naruto-san." Tamidai, he recalled was the Uchiha alpha with pinkened hair. "Now, naturally work has begun on your shiromuku, much pride onto me that it is as elegant as propriety demands. After we sort the matter of your other kimonos, would you wish to view it?"

Through himself, a shiver of apprehension arose there was to be more then one? The venue for their marriage had yet to be decided, and at the present, the only factor of the wedding he was certain of were the flowers. "Others..?" Now his voice was infringed with a weakness he hadn't had since he'd run about with paint on his visage.

"Naturally!" He nearly knocked himself unconscious in snapping his head back in turning to look at his future clanmates. He whom knew this world best, seemed to hardly able to contain a gasping laugh, clenching dainty fisted hands to his chest, and turning red-faced. No doubt from the self-restraint it took not to burst forth in frivolous laughter Naruto had near want to punch him for being the nature of his amusement. Though, certainly, the delicate omega who knew not the battlefield would actually feel a pain from it. So in spite of his slighted pride, the blond omega kept to himself a poised posture despite circumstance. "Naru-kun it is prideful for our clan that your shiromuku or hikifurisode be detailed with yuzen, in order for best work to be done, I must begin fastly, bid unto me your wants."

Naruto found himself breathing deep, drowning in the fathoms of unknown. Certainly, his knowledge aided not his words. In lessons by Kou-san speaking calmly, those normalities of the clan, this had not been involved.

Fie unto complexities! What sorrow granted him with such unjust circumstance.
