"Cyberbullying is no laughing matter. Sending a cruel message to someone online can be just as hurtful as saying it to their face." Counselor Blatt yelled as Lilth and Jake grabbed their lunch trays.

Lilth and Jake started walking towards their table where Miguel, Eli, and Demetri already were. Ever since the first day, Lilth and Jake have been sitting with the three boys. The two of them have tried many times to talk to them, and it wasn't until two weeks ago where all the boys started talking to Lilth and Jake, even Eli.

By the time they had been in school for a month, Lilth and Miguel were absolutely smitten for each other. The whole table could see Miguel's crush on Lilth except Lilth.

The Beaumont girl on the other hand, hid her crush extremely well, treating Miguel like any of her other friends. Lilth really did like Miguel, more than any of her other crushes that never became anything more than that, but she didn't want to risk asking him out and losing him as a friend. Not if she didn't know if he liked her back or not.

"I'm not gonna name names, but the other day a mother called me up because her son was crying after some kids online made fun of his facial deformity."

Lilth felt a sinking feeling in her stomach at the counselors words. She looked down at Eli beside her as she sat down.

The whole entire group has also moved their seats. Lilth moved to sit in between Miguel and Eli, Jake sat on the other side of Eli and Demetri sat on the other side of Miguel.

"The kid right there!"

"The kid with the weird lip."

Lilth spun around in her seat to glare in the direction of the voices. Immediately, they stopped and all eyes were off of Eli. Lilth turned back right, a glare still on her face until she saw Eli watching her out of the corner of her eyes.

She turned her head to face him and the glare on her face immediately was wiped clean with a big reassuring smile. Eli smiled back at her. "Thanks, Lilth." Eli said and Lilth just shrugged. "No problem, E."

"You know, if you're sick of getting bullied, my karate dojo's looking for recruits." Miguel suggested to Eli. The whole table turned to Miguel, Lilth and Eli interested, Demetri ready to make a sarcastic comment, and Jake just nosy.

"Yeah, right, you hear that, Eli? A little karate training and you're gonna kick some major ass." Demetri joked, holding his hands up as if he was about to fight.

Miguel rolled his eyes and shook his head. "I'm serious, Demetri, all right?" He turned back to Eli, Lilth, and Jake. "My sensei's the real deal, and I'm sure I could get you all discounts." Miguel said and Lilth pursed her lips.

She had been wanting to take one some sort of after school activity. Learning karate could be just that for her. Plus, it'd be nice to know some self defense. Lilth turned her whole body to Miguel, about to open her mouth and say yes to joining, but Demetri sarcastically hissed and shook his head.

"As enticing as that sounds, I think we'd rather spend our afternoons playing Crucible Control than getting hit in the face." Demetri said. Lilth closed her mouth and turned to look ahead of her again, deciding on waiting to ask Miguel about more information on his dojo.

Lilth was going to join no matter what. Even if she didn't get the discount Miguel offered. Each second that went by made Lilth want to join the sport even more. Like a craving eating away at her. Lilth was practically bouncing in her seat at the thought of joining and not only learning badass karate, but getting the chance to get closer with Miguel.

"Oh, and one last thing." Counselor Blatt added. Lilth's smile fell and the whole room groaned,

"While we're all looking forward to the Halloween dance, let's make sure our costumes are culturally sensitive. For example, instead of sexy nurse, maybe try gender-neutral hospital employee."

Lilth rolled her eyes. She grabbed her orange and started to peel it. "Nurse is a gender fluid title. You don't need to change it to hospital employee." Lilth muttered.

No one at her table had heard her, but they all leaned closer to each other so they could talk.

"On that topic, what are you gonna be for Halloween?" Miguel asked Lilth, a small smile on his face. Lilth—for the second time in about two minutes— was about to speak when Demetri spoke up. His eyes were on his plate so he thought the question was going to the whole table, not just Lilth.

"I would prefer to keep mine a surprise until the actual dance. Wouldn't want anyone to overhear me and steal my idea." Demetri said, looking around the cafeteria as if there was a spy listening in on him.

Lilth, Jake and Miguel all watched the lanky boy with amused grins. Slowly, Jake shook his head. He let out a small laugh as he grabbed his burger and raised it to his mouth.

"I can assure you, no one is going as a necromancer." Jake jokingly sang. He took a bite of his lunch as Demetri's eyes widened and his jaw dropped. "I told you about my Halloween costume in confidence!" The boy whined and Jake just sheepishly smiled and shrugged his shoulders.

Lilth turned back to Miguel and smiled. "I'm going as a Barden Bella." Lilth said, popping a slice of her orange into her mouth.

When none of the boys reacted to her costume, she squinted at them. "You guys have no clue what that is do you?" She asked and instantly, the four boys said their own verison of no.

"Not a clue."

"Nope."

"Absolutely no clue who Bella is."

"No, I don't think I do."

"Pitch Perfect?" Lilth asked, looking around the table with desperate eyes. The boys still looked confused, Demetri and Miguel shaking their heads as Eli pursed his lips, trying to remember if he had seen that with his mom.

Lilth looked at her friends with a childish dropped jaw. After  a couple of seconds, she closed her mouth and shook her head. "You guys are coming over this weekend to watch it."

Demetri squinted at Lilth. "I don't think—" "It's too late." Jake u ferreted Demetri, making Demetri turn to him. Jake just shook his head, taking another bite of his burger. "It's happening. Lilth will drag you out of your home if she has to."

Demetri's face turned into one filled with fear as he slowly turned to Lilth.

Lilth had a proud smile on her face as she slowly nodded, silently saying Jake's words were right. Demetri sighed, his shoulders slumping. "I'm free this weekend to watch."

...

Lilth and Jake didn't realize it until Eli pointed it out to them last week, but the Moskowitz boy lived a couple doors down from Lilth.

Ever since, Lilth has been driving Eli and Jake both to and from school so it wasn't a surprise that Lilth was going to drive the two boys to the high school Halloween dance.

Lilth had just finished doing her hair, putting it in a half-up/half-down do, and was about to start her makeup when the doorbell rang.

Lilth got up and started heading to her door. Part of her was trying to figure out who it could be since she told the boys to come to her house at 6 and it was only 5.

Another part of her was telling her that it could be Moon. The two of course still talked and hung out constantly despite Lilth not talking to Yasmine. Lilth and Moon just never hung out at school anymore.

Lilth opened the door and confused smile took over her face when she saw Eli nervously standing at the door, dressed as a doctor. Lilth tilted her head, confused but happy to see her friend. "Eli? What are you doing here?"

Eli's eyes widened, he took off his surgical mask and pushed it into his pocket. "You said to come at 5." He muttered.

Lilth's brows furrowed. She pulled out her phone and quickly checked her texts. She sighed when she realized she sent the wrong time to Eli. "Shit. I could've sworn I texted 6 to you." Lilth cursed under her breath.

She pushed her phone back into her pocket and shook her head. "I have to text Jake an hour earlier time because he's never on time. I must've sent you the same text. Sorry, E." Lilth said and Eli's eyes widened.

"I-It's okay. I can head home." Eli stuttered out. He turned to walk down Lilth's driveway, but Lilth reached out and grabbed Eli's hand to stop him.

"No! No, You can stay. I'm still getting ready, but come in!" Lilth said before turning around and walking back towards her room, leaving the front door open for Eli to follow after her.

Eli did. He nervously closed the door after him and followed Lilth to her room. She sat down at her desk to start her makeup just as Eli walked into her room. He made a beeline to Lilth's bed, taking off his shoes and climbing onto it.

He faced Lilth and sat criss cross. Lilth smiled at the boy in front of her and looked at his costume. "What kind of doctor are you?"

Eli's eyes practically sparkled at the question, he slowly started to smile as he sat up a little straighter. "I'm a plastic surgeon. I fix lips." He said proudly.

Lilth smiled back at Eli, loving his costume. She went back to her mascara, but continued to talk with Eli.

"So, you gonna ask anyone special to dance tonight?" Lilth asked. There was a small smile on her face as she wiggled her shoulders. Eli smiled, his cheeks and neck turning into a blush pink.

"I don't think so." He muttered, nervously dropping his head to look at the ground.

Lilth tilted her head and stopped doing her makeup to give the boy her full attention. "Eli, you've gotta dance. I mean... It's a dance!" Lilth said in a "duh" tone. "It's literally in the name!"

Eli frowned, he looked up at Lilth and sadly shrugged his shoulders. "I doubt anyone would want to dance with me when I have this gross scar. Even if I wear the mask."

Lilth's face fell and her eyes softened as she looked at Eli. She hated that the boy brought himself down constantly over his scar. She got out of her seat at her desk and walked towards her bed.

Eli's eyes widened at Lilth coming towards him. She sat down beside him on her bed and gave him a small smile. "Eli, anyone who doesn't want to dance with you because of your scar is someone you shouldn't want. The right girl will come around and love it."

"I've been around girls for 16 years and no girls has liked this... ugly thing." Eli said, not meeting Lilth's eyes. Lilth bit her lips sadly and tilted her head. "I like it."

Eli's head whipped to Lilth. His eyes wide, but still soft as he stared at her. Lilth just nodded her head. "I think it's really cool. Like Remus Lupin." She raised her brows playfully and smirked. "And girls love Remus Lupin."

Eli didn't respond to Lilth; he just continued to stare at her. Lilth didn't think anything of it and just shrugged. "If you want, I could put some concealer on your scar and make it not so noticeable. But honestly, your scar isn't bad at all."

Eli blinked and shook himself out of his stare once he registered that Lilth was waiting for his answer. He opened and closed his mouth before he spoke. "We can uh... We could try the concealer."

Lilth smiled. She hopped off her bed and walked back towards her desk. She grabbed her concealer, powder and brushes before walking back to her bed where Eli was.

Once she was on the bed Lilth raised her eyebrows at Eli. "Are you alright if I hold your face to do it?"

Eli nodded. Lilth nodded back and opened her concealer. She grabbed Eli's jaw and immediately, Eli's face started to heat up. He'd never even held hands with a girl so having the most popular girl in school hold his face made him extremely nervous.

She placed a couple of dots of her concealer onto the boys scar before she dropped her hand from Eli's face and closed her concealer bottle.

Lilth grabbed her concealer brush and held Eli's face again as she blended the makeup out. Eli stared at Lilth with complete admiration. He understood now why everyone wanted to be Lilth's friend. He couldn't ask for any better friend than Lilth.

Once she blended out the concealer, she put the brush down and grabbed her powder and power brush. She dipped her brush in the powder and gently patted it on top of the concealer.

She smiled at her work, you could still see the outline of Eli's scar, but it still hid it very well. Lilth let out an excited squeal and happily jumped off her bed. She grabbed Eli's hand and pulled him off her bed and towards the corner of her room where her full body mirror was.

She smiled as Eli slowly walked towards mirror, his eyes wide as he stared at his reflection. Lilth looked back and forth between Eli beside her and his reflection, practically bouncing on her feet as she waited for his reaction.

Lilth gasped when Eli's arms wrapped around her waist and she was pulled into a hug. Lilth immediately hugged back and she felt Eli smile into her shoulder. "Thank you, Lilth."

The doorbell ringing made Lilth pull away, she smiled at Eli and shrugged her shoulders. "It's no problem." She said as she and Eli walked towards Lilth's front door.

She opened it and smiled at Jake, the boy dressed up as a robot. The costume looked homemade considering it was made out of cardboard.

Jake smiled at his two friends, loving Eli's costume but confused as to why Lilth wasn't dressed yet. His smile falter as he squinted at his best friend. "Why aren't you dress yet? We have to leave right now." Jake asked softly, looking at Lilth's pajamas.

When he saw the growing smirk on Lilth's face, Jake sighed, his shoulders slumped. "You tricked me, didn't you?" Jake asked, his voice sounding unamused, but he was struggling to hold back a smile.

Eli and Lilth both started to laugh and it took everything in Jake not to laugh with them. He walked inside the house, muttering a small "shut up" that finally pushed his laugh out.

...

Once Jake came over, Lilth finished getting ready, kicking the two boys out of her room while she changed before she drove them to the school.

As soon as they walked in, they could hear Demetri yelling from them.

Lilth's jaw fell once she saw Demetri's costume. She, Eli and Jake walked towards him nonetheless. "Very nice necromancer costume, Metri." Lilth sang, nodding her head once she was standing with him.

Demetri smiled at the compliment and the nickname Lilth gave him and nodded his head. "Why thank you, Lilth. I love your Bowler Bella costume."

"Barden Bella." Lilth corrected. Demetri just shrugged, a lopsided smile on his face. "I tried." He defended before he looked to Jake. His eyes widened and his jaw dropped at the boys costume.

"And Jake, I must say I do love the robot look on you." Demetri said, nodding his head as Jake held his arms out and smiled. He did a small, slow spin to show off his costume.

"Cool, isn't it?" Jake asked, giggling a little. Demetri's smiled with Jake, slowly nodding his head as he admired the boy. "Yeah. Really cool."

Lilth looked around the gym and immediately spotted Moon across the room. She was alone, Yasmine talking to a guy. Lilth turned to the boys and put her arm on Demetri's shoulder since he was closest to her. "I'm gonna go get something to drink. I'll be right back."

The three boys nodded and Lilth left them to go to the snack table.

Lilth immediately grabbed a napkin and a cookie. She looked around the gym and smiled at all the couple and friends dancing.

Lilth turned back to her friends and straightened up when she saw Miguel, leaving their friends and heading towards her. Lilth felt butterflies in her stomach as Miguel walked towards her in a Skeleton jumpsuit, his face painted to go with it. Miguel smiled as walked towards her.

Miguel stopped walking once he was less than a foot away from Lilth. He was still smiling as he stared at Lilth. "Hey, Lilth..." He started before he looked down at Lilth's comment. He through she looked absolutely beautiful. He looked back up to Lilth's eyes and smiled. "I like your costume."

Lilth just continued to stare at Miguel; her eyes were softened and took a deep breath to control her heart rate and not blush. She smiled up at Miguel, she could feel the heart eyes she was giving him, but there was nothing she could do about stopping it.

"Thanks." Lilth said slowly, still admiring the boy in front of him. She looked Miguel up and down, smiling at his costume. "I really like your Pitch Perfect costume."

Miguel looked down at the compliment, attempting to hide his own blush even though the face paint was doing the job for him. "Was not expecting a skeleton." Lilth added and Miguel looked back up to her, making her giggle. "Or all the face paint."

"Yeah... I was wanting to be Deadpool, but my mom said it had to be homemade and then once my Sensei saw my costume, he said he had the perfect thing." Miguel rambled and Lilth just tilted her head at the boy, smiling as she listened to him talk.

"Well, I think Deadpool would've looked cool, but this..." Lilth laughed again as she looked over Miguel's costume again, making Miguel smile. "This is really cool too."

She looked around the gym and noticed a slow song was playing. Lilth was a little shocked at this since the dance just started and normally slow songs are towards the end of the night. She turned to Miguel and smiled, holding her hand out to him as courage started to build up in her body.

"Wanna dance?"

Lilth's voice was soft when she asked her question, making butterflies erupt in Miguel's chest. He opened and closed his mouth before he smiled and shook his head. Lilth's heart sank at his action.

And it sank even further when Miguel laughed.

"I would, but I don't know how to dance." Miguel said and Lilth let out a relieved exhale, glad Miguel wasn't laughing at her, but at himself.

She immediately shook her head and grabbed Miguel's hand. "It's easy. I can teach you." She said. Miguel straightened up when Lilth's hand grabbed his, their fingers interlacing. Lilth gave his hand a little squeeze and raised her eyebrows up to Miguel. "Do you trust me?"

Miguel immediately nodded his head, making Lilth perk up a bit and smile. She pulled Miguel further into the dance floor and faced him. Gently, she grabbed his hands and placed them on her waist.

Miguel's eyes followed his hands, staring at Lilth's waist before he felt her arms wrap around his shoulders. Miguel's eyes widened, bringing his head back up to look into Lilth's eyes. He was shocked to see how close she had gotten just from wrapping her arms around him.

"And then you just..." Lilth started to sway, making Miguel follow with her. "Sway." She said, guiding him through the graceful movements.

Miguel let out a small laugh, a big smile taking over his face as he raised his brows in amusement. "This is it?" He asked, shocked that it was so easily to slow dance.

Lilth closed her eyes and laughed, nodding. "This is it." She said and Miguel laughed again.

As they swayed to the music, Lilth noticed Miguel's eyes were glued to his feet. She moved one of her hands from Miguel's shoulder to the edge of his jawline. She moved his head so he was looking into her eyes.

"Just relax. It's all about connection. Look at me." She reassured. Miguel, extremely flustered, nodded his head. Unbeknownst to each other, their hearts beat faster, both harboring feelings they were yet to confess. In this shared dance, a subtle spark of something special flickered between Lilth and Miguel.

As the song neared its end, Lilth and Miguel steps slowed at the same time, their wyes still locked on each others.

Connection.

Lilth felt her heart beating in her ears and her fingertips start to tingle. In that moment, Lilth's gaze inadvertently dropped to Miguel's lips, igniting a flutter of butterflies within him.

When Lilth's eyes looked up and met his again, Miguel took Lilth's action as a form of courage to start to lean in. Lilth's eyes widened once she realized what Miguel was doing. Lilth felt butterflies ignite in her entire body as she closed her eyes and started to lean in as well.

Lilth could feel Miguel's lips come closer and closer to her own and Lilth was tempted to just pull the boy in the rest of the way, thinking this was taking too long.

"Lilth!"

Startled, Lilth and Miguel jumped apart, cheeks flushed with surprise. Lilth's hands left Miguel's shoulders and Miguel's hands left Lilth's waist. He looked around the gym, struggling to meet Lilth's eyes.

Lilth pulled her lips into a nervous line at Moon coming towards her. Moon pulled the girl into a hug and laughed. "Lil, you look amazing!" Moon breathed out as they pulled away from their hug. Lilth nodded in agreement, loving Moons Laker girl costume.

"I love yours! You look so good!" Lilth said and Moon smiled. Lilth turned to Miguel, their eyes meeting and she immediately became nervous again. "Oh! Moon, this is Miguel. Miguel, Moon." Lilth said, introducing the two.

Moon and Miguel said their hellos before Moon tilted her head at the boy, a small smile on her face. "You don't mind if I steal Lilth to dance, do you?"

"Uh..." Miguel started. Before he could say yes, Demetei, Eli, and Jake came over to the three, Demetri doing an "I have to pee" dance. "Miguel, would you like to join us to the restroom?"

Miguel looked back and forth between the boys and girls before he settled his eyes on Demetri and nodded his head. "Yeah. Yeah, sure." Miguel breathed out, nodding his head. He turned back to Lilth and smiled.

"See you later, Lil." Miguel said, a playful smirk on his face as he said the nickname. Lilth rolled her eyes, but smiled as the four boys walked away.

Once they were gone, Lilth turned to Moon, the girl having a knowing smirk on her face. "You so like him." Moon laughed out and Lilth blushed.

She rolled her eyes, looking away from her friend. "We were going to kiss but—" Lilth's words were cut off by Moon gasping, her hand going to her mouth as her eyes softened. "Oh my God. I interrupted it, didn't I?"

Lilth frown, her eyes going to the ground as she nodded her head. Moons shoulders slumped, and she grabbed both of Lilth's hands. "Lil, I'm so sorry." Moon said and Lilth quickly shook her head and gave Moon a reassuring smile, not wanting her to feel bad.

"It's okay. I'll kiss him another time." Lilth laughed out, but she was still a little bummed. Moon watched her friend for a second, not believing her.

Nonetheless, Moon nodded back, making Lilth smile. "Now, let's go dance!" She said, a big excited grin on her face. Moon smiled widely, nodding her head and dragging Lilth to the center of the mosh pit.

As Lilth was pulled further and further into the dance floor, she looked back behind her, down the hallway Miguel had gone to with a small frown.

...

Lilth and Moon danced and drank together, Moon bringing her own flash that the two shared.

From all the dancing, body heat from the people around her, and alcohol in her system, Lilth turned to heat up.

She stopped dancing and fanned her face with her hand. "I'm gonna cool off!" Lilth yelled over the loud music, considering they were right by the speakers.

Moon stopped dancing with Lilth, tilting her head. "You want me to come with you?" Mokn asked and Lilth shook her head. She didn't want to be the reason Mokn left all the fun.

"I'll be okay!" Lilth reassured and Moon nodded.

Lilth pushed her way through the crowd and towards the hallways that led to the bathroom. As soon as she was out of the mosh pit, Lilth started to feel better.

She let out a breath of air that sounded like a groan to the students and chaperones nearby. Lilth walked towards the hallway that would take her to the bathroom, but stopped when she noticed a bright yellow flier on the wall.

Lilth's brows furrowed and she took slow, curious steps towards the wall.

"LEARN TO FIGHT! JOIN COBRA KAI"

Lilth eyes sparkled as she looked up at the bright yellow flier. She took her phone out of her skirt pocket and quickly took a poster of the flier so she could check out the website once she got home.

She pushed her phone back into her pocket and continued down the hall. Lilth started to regret not asking Moon to come with her. The hallways lights were off, the only light in the hall was coming from the small windows illuminating the night sky.

The only sound in the hall was her footsteps from her wedges. Lilth felt her phone vibrate in her pocket and as she continued to walk towards the bathroom, Lilth reached into her skirt pocket and pulled out her phone. She rolled her eyes when she realized it was a text from Yasmine.

Just as Lilth was about to open the message Yasmine had sent her, yells from Demetri and Eli made Lilth look up with wide eyes.

She saw her two friends running towards her, but both of them looked too terrified to even notice her. Lilth was about to yell at them to ask what they were telling from, but they ran passed her too fast.

Lilth was just shocked they could run so fast.

Instead of following the boys, Lilth decided to see what they were running from. It may have been a horrible idea but she knew Eli and Demetri long enough to know overreacting are all of their strong suits.

As Lilth walked further down the hall, she could hear voices coming from the boys bathroom. Seconds later, the door opened and Lilth jumped a little, her nervousness coursing through her body.

Laughter of Kyler, Brucks, and their goons made Lilth's blood run cold. They were all talking and Lilth tried her hardest to understand what they were saying, but they were all talking over each other.

Kyler noticed Lilth standing in the hall and smiled. He nodded his head as if to say "what's up?" "Hey, Lilth." He said and Lilth carefully nodded, not wanting to upset the boy by not nodding back.

Kyler turned back to Brucks and laughed. He excitedly punched the boys arm. "Dude, we got Rhea so good. And did you see Greene all scared? He was screaming like a little baby!" Kyler laughed out.

Lilths eyes widened when she heard Kyler say his nickname for Miguel and Jake. She watched the handful of boys walk back towards the gym before she slowly turned back to the boys bathroom door.

Immediately, Lilth headed for the doors of the boys bathroom. She slammed the door open, not caring if there were any other boys in the locker room.

She her a small groan further into the room made Lilth speed up her steps. Once she was in the center of the bathroom, she saw something move out of the corner of her eyes.

Lilth turned her head and her heart sank at the sight of Miguel, curled into a ball in the floor by the lockers, Jake crouched down beside him.

Jake turned around at the sound of someone walking in and Lilth gasped. His face and mouth was bleeding and his robot had was torn to sheds.

"Oh my God." Lilth muttered as she ran towards Miguel. She slid on her knees, not caring that she had just scraped them up as she cupped Miguel's face. "Miguel." Lilth breathed out and Miguel groaned. He opened his eyes and let out a relieved breath of air when he saw Lilth in front of him.

He attempted to speak, but Lilth just shook her head. "No. No, it's okay. Don't talk." Lilth whispered before she moved some of his hair out of his face. She recupped his and nodded her head reassuringly. "I'm here." She said.

Lilth turned to Jake, her eyes wide. "What happened?" She asked and Jake looked down at Miguel with tears in his eyes. "Kyler and them came in. They started picking on Miguel and Eli so Miguel tried to stand up to them."

Jake's words slowed as she shook his head at the sight of Miguel. "They started attacking him and... and Demetri and Eli ran. I didn't want Miguel to be alone so I tried to help, but Brucks punched me and pinned me down." Jake said, his voice cracked a little. "They made me watch."

The door to the bathroom door opening made Lilth and Jake tense. Lilth stuck her arm out in front of Jake protectively as she and Jake turned around. They watched as a blonde man walked in. When his eyes fell on Lilth, Jake, and Miguel, he ran towards the two teens.

Lilth recognized the man as the guy on the Cobra Kai flier. She scooted over on the floor to give the man room as he crouched down beside Lilth to check on Miguel.

He sighed at the sight of the boy, shaking his head. "Oh, Miguel."
