CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE —
( All will be revealed, my child )

────────────────

Hank, Charles, Raven, Alex, Moira and Lydia (with Avery holding her hand) proceeded to head down to cerebro where Charles was going to use the machine to find Erik's whereabouts.

As the doors slid open and the group walked in, Charles cleared his throat. "Moira, I'm going to have to ask you to keep this a secret."

"I don't even know what this is," Moira said as she glanced around the room in amazement.

"It's cerebro," Raven replied. "The new model."

"I based the colour on..." Hank glanced at Raven and then turned his head away. "It doesn't matter."

Lydia gave Alex another knowing smirk.

Avery tugged her mother's hand. "What does Cerebro do?" She asked.

Lydia let go of her hand and wrapped her arm around Avery's shoulders instead. "This is how mommy found you, sweetheart. It only works on telepaths; mutants who can read other people's minds. I found you using this and adopted you that very day."

"Wow."

Hank grabbed the cerebro helmet from the control panel and placed it upon Charles' head. The light lit up in an instant. The whole room began to change and Charles started to focus on trying to find Erik.

Little white people surrounded the room and Lydia watched as they talked and did the activities they were all currently doing. "Pretty..." Avery commented in awe.

"What are those?" Moira asked.

"Those are all of the humans in the world," Charles replied.

The room turned much darker and instead of little white people, they were red. "And these are all the mutants," Lydia said. "Charles is connected to each of their minds. This is how I found my daughter and at least half of the students in the school."

Moira looked around the room in awe. "The CIA would kill for this."

"I know they would," Charles said.

Charles closed his eyes and began to focus on only Erik, clearing his mind of anything else. He pictured what he looked like and his abilities. "Where are you, Erik?"

A figure in the distance caught Lydia's attention and Charles was brought to Erik. Both Charles and Lydia were suddenly hit with all of his emotions; Grief because the two people he cared most for in the world were ripped away from him, and anger for the people who did that to him. Lydia's eyes began to water and she rubbed Avery's shoulder to remind her that her daughter was still alive and with her. This was all just what Erik was going through and feeling. Erik felt Charles' presence in his head and turned away from a group of people.

"Charles?" Erik breathed out.

"Hello, old friend," Charles spoke.

"And Lydia, if you wanted to know," Lydia spoke as well, having trained her mind to connect to Charles' when he used Cerebro.

"Lydia, you've finally learnt how to use the cerebro," Erik acknowledged.

"Well, I'm not using it at the moment. I'm just connected to Charles' mind right now," Lydia responded. "But, yeah, I have.

"I'm sorry. I am so sorry," Charles sniffled. "I feel your pain. And your loss."

"You think that because you can see into my head that you know how it feels?" Erik asked.

"Of course not," Lydia shook her head even though he couldn't see it. "I can't even begin to imagine what you're going through and what you're feeling. I'm so sorry, Erik."

"You're looking into the wrong place, Charles, Lydia," Erik said quietly.

"What happened to them wasn't right," Charles said, thinking back to how those men killed an innocent woman and child. "But please, come back to us. I can help you. We can help you."

"Help me?" Erik asked in disbelief.

"Think of your wife and daughter. Think about what they would have wanted," Charles tried.

"They would have wanted to live," Erik said, growing angry. He then calmed down and looked at a necklace in his hand. "I tried your way. I tried to be like them. Live like them. But it always ends the same way."

"Not if you come with us. We can change all of that for you, help give you the life you deserve," Lydia said desperately.

"They already took everything away from me," Erik turned around to face a group who were conversing near him. "Now, we'll take everything from them."

A man with blue skin turned towards Erik. Lydia's breath caught in her throat as she thought over Jean's nightmare, or vision. "He isn't alone."

"Extraordinary," the blue man breathed out.

"What do you see?" A winged teenager asked.

"The answer."

Charles continued to look into the man's mind when his eyes flashed to white. Jean's vision suddenly rushed straight into Lydia's head as the man began to go through Charles' head and he couldn't stop him. "Oh, my god," Charles breathed out.

"Thank you for letting me in," the blue man smirked. "Your sister has an extraordinary power lying beneath her skin, but she has yet to unleash it, to show her true potential. You, on the other hand...I can use you."

Lydia would've replied back with a snarky comment, but she couldn't move her eyesight away from the man, even as the room around the mutants began to turn purple. A whole lot of power was knocked into Charles and both him and Lydia gasped as they felt stronger.

"Mommy?" Avery asked quietly, scared as Lydia spaced out and her body began to glow a soft green and grow warm.

Raven quickly grabbed onto Avery and pulled her away from Lydia, because she knew Lydia would never forgive herself if she did something to her daughter.

"Charles. Charles, get out!" Hank yelled as he tried to press buttons to stop the Cerebro, but Charles was too stuck in the man's web to move. "Charles! Lydia!"

"I've never felt power like this before," Charles spoke. Lydia's skin felt all tingly and she felt like she could accomplish and do anything. She felt like if she would scream, the whole building would collapse.

"Charles, get out of there!" Hank yelled.

"What's going on? What's happening?" Moira asked.

"I think...someone's taken over the Cerebro," Hank told everyone. "They've taken control of it."

"To do what?" Raven asked.

"To connect."

Lydia was frozen in her spot as the blue man used the Cerebro to see everyone on the planet, both mutants and humans. "Always the same. And now, all this. No more stones. No more spears." The blue man began to use Lydia's and Charles' abilities to control the humans, and they couldn't stop themselves. "No more slings. No more swords. No more weapons! No more systems! No more! No more superpowers." The blue man controlled the humans to set off all of the nukes.

"Charles!" Alex yelled in Charles' ear in an attempt to knock him out of his trance.

Hank then proceeded to try and pull the cerebro helmet from off of Charles' head, but instead caused electricity to run though his body. Charles let out a scream as the pain intensified, and Lydia from beside him let out a scream as her head was connected with his and she, too, couldn't let go.

"Mommy!" Avery cried out.

Raven pulled Avery to herself and shielded her away from the scene before them. "Hank, do something!" She yelled.

Hank began to rip apart the Cerebro but nothing was working. "It won't shut down!" All of the nukes in the world were being fired straight up into the air.

"So much faith in their tools and their machines."

"Alex!" Lydia called over.

"What?" He was by her side within an instant.

"Destroy it! Destroy everything. Destroy cerebro!" Charles yelled at him before leaning forward in his seat. "Wreak havoc!" Alex stepped forward and unleashed his plasma rays into the Cerebro.

"You can fire your arrows from the Tower of Babel, but you can never strike god!"

Alex held his hands out and the plasma rays destroyed the whole room. When the lights turned out, Hank ripped the helmet from off of Charles' head and the man fell unconscious in his seat. Lydia also felt the power leave her within an instant and collapsed into Alex's arms.

Hank pushed Charles out of the burning room and Alex carried Lydia out. Once they were out of the room and the door was shut, Hank turned to Charles who seemed to be unconscious. "Charles, are you alright? Charles?"

Alex looked down at Lydia. "You alright, kiddo?" He asked.

"Are you okay, Mommy?" Avery asked quietly.

Lydia nodded. "I'm tired, but good."

From behind them, a purple portal opened up and the blue man and four other mutants emerged from it with Erik being one of them. Erik held his hand out and Charles' wheelchair with an unconscious Charles on top flew towards him. Alex placed Lydia down on her feet before bolting after Charles. Lydia began to sway on her feet so she held onto Hank's shoulder to keep her straight.

"Charles!" Raven yelled out.

"Hey, asshole!" Alex yelled out.

"All will be revealed, my child," the man said as the purple portal surrounded them.

"Stop!" Hank began to run after Alex to stop him. "No!"

Alex let out his plasma ray towards the group before they disappeared through the portal. The rays went straight through the door behind and into the room Hank had been using to create things for the X-Men team. The rays hit a generator and then it exploded.
