Women in Bollywood

Firstly I wanna establish the fact that I do love bollywood. But there's always been this one aspect of bollywood films that gets on my nerves and the portrayal of woman (cinematography, lyrics etc.) This rant will go off on a tangent and talk about other things as well.

For example in the first look of the song from baar baar dekho, kala chashma. Sid is seen wearing a Kurta while Katrina is seen wearing basically a blouse and some dhoti or whatever. My first reaction was "What she wearing?!" Now before u call me all "Oh she's not modern" firstly I am 'modern' but like come on who the f wears that irl?! I let go of that matter shortly after anyway cause like nobody cares 😐😒. Then they released the teaser of the song (which I have v v mixed feelings about) and what do we see, a low angle of Katrina Kaifs Midriff like 😑. What the fuck?! WHY?! KYUN?!. And it made me think about how woman are filmed etc.

I mean in their entry scene it's like zoom in on the lips, eyes, etc. While if it was a guys entry scene it would have been all action packed and shit. Like in item songs (Which shouldn't exist in bollywood) the way women are portrayed/filmed. Zoom in on the midriff and other body parts. Not to mention the clothes they wear. LIKE CAN THEY NOT WEAR KURTI AND LEGGINGS AND LOOK ON POINT AF?!

Lyrics... lyrics with double meaning have existed since forever. Like 😣. I don't wanna even talk about it. But can we talk about the chorus of kala chashma and how it pisses me off so fricking much 😐

Tenu kala chasma jachda ae
Jachda ae gore mukhde te

Black glasses looking nice
on your Charming white face.

WHY WHITE FACE?! WHY WHITE?! I swear in the 90s and stuff it was always gori, gore basically the songs would at some point talk about being white. Like in yeh kaali kaali aankhen, yeh gore gore gal?! GORE GAL? Why can't we talk about tan skin 😕.

Oh wait and lets not forget about the lame excuse of a hit song. CHITIYAAN KALAIYAAN VE! TALKING ABOUT WHITE HANDS! THE FUCK?! IT'S lyrics like these that talk about white skin that make girls feel like "Oh I wish I had fair skin, I wonder how I can make it white?"...

OH YEAH THERE'S A FUCKING PRODUCT CALLED FAIR AND LOVELY THAT ADVERTISES THAT IF A GIRL ISN'T WHITE SHE ISN'T GONNA GET GET A JOB! 😠😠😠😡😡😡. I hate fairness creams and I hate the person who invented it and I hate it even more cause bollywood actors endorse it! Like Yami Gautam. It's a reason why I don't like her, like please stop endorsing products that would actually damage your skin!

And another point to be noted is the fact that indians think that girls with white skin are the ideal girl. Perfect people basically. It's like Greek sculpture. They had an ideal body type when they made them, they wanted perfection for them beauty was more important than creating a legit full on natural statue. They'd over exaggerate body parts by defining them to the point they didn't look realistic.

What I'm trying To say is that in india  and other desi countries that's the body ideal. Not only thin but fair skinned. And this ideal body type is reflected in the lyrics I've shown above, come on we even talk about skinny girls in our songs! LIKE THE FUCK?!  This ideal body type has only been advocated further via bollywood songs, fairness creams endorsed by actors etc. And the problem is they don't give a fuck really.

I'm so glad Kangana rejected an endorsement with a fairness cream brand like it's one of the reasons why I love her 😍😍😍😍😍.

In conclusion if you have different opinions then great, comment them, Im keen on hearing other people's views and opinions. But if you dare try to change my opinion then kindly fuck off cause I'm not here to change ur opinion I'm just sharing mine so I'd like it if u respected my opinion and not try to change it.
