What happens when a superhero dies?

Will darkness conquer all,
Leaving nothing but traces of blood and despair.
That only the end of worlds
Has mercy on those still alive.

Will the people rise up,
Start a revolution together
Because together they are stronger
And can overthrow whatever is thrown at them.

Will a new super emerge,
A vigilante stepping out the shadows.
Either choose to fill the role themselves,
or be chosen by authorities.

Will the villain simply surrender
Now that the challenge suddenly disappears.
Did they secretly consider them a friend
Enjoy their company in some twisted way.

Will some people grief,
Despite our differences
Now that they lost someone who they wish to be
Or simply because they lost someone they were grateful for

With all the fire burning around me,
Vision slowly getting dark.
And as I lay here,
Tear filled eyes swollen,
I can't help but wonder

What happens when a hero dies?
