Training

It'd been a couple days of constant training.

Early in the morning, Lila was curled up with Raven. They both flipped through a magazine together. Lila's head rested on Raven's shoulder.

"Do you like neutrals?" Raven and her were trying to figure out what types of styles she liked to wear.

Raven spoke about taking her shopping so she'd have clothes she actually liked. Since she'd been imprisoned for so long she barely remembered what it was like to wear nice clothes.

"I like neutrals," Lila whispered.

"I think we should go shopping soon," Raven giggled. The blonde flipped through the pages of the magazine before pointing at shoes.

Both glanced up when Alex walked into the room.

He stopped when he saw the girls, eyes darting to Lila.

"Good morning," the brunette beauty mumbled into Ravens shoulder distractedly. She pointed at a pleated skirt she liked.

Raven looked at Alex expectantly, her blue eyes darting back and forth between the two. She'd been pestering Alex about his asshole behavior towards Lila and urged him to apologize for avoiding her.

Alex stuttered for a moment and Lila glanced up again with a furrowed brow.

"Are you alright?"

His eyes widened before turning to leave quickly.

"What an ass," Raven scoffed. "He still hasn't been talking to you?"

"No," Lila toyed with her fingers. "I get it, he was stuck with me for forever and finally has some space. We have more important things to do anyways," she rolled her lips.

Pushing a smile onto her face, she turned to Raven.

"Besides I get to spend time with you, my first friend in a while," Lila shimmied her shoulders with Raven.

They both giggled as Erik stepped into the living room, he pointed at Lila.

"You. You're coming with me. You're official training starts today," the metal manipulator demanded with a sly smile.

Lila's eyes widened and she sat up quickly, looking at Raven who shrugged and back at Erik who grinned. Quickly, she went to go get ready.

Lila panted on the ground as Erik stood over her.

"How many times do you want me to throw rocks at you?" she gasped for breath.

Erik waved her off, "Until you impress me."

"Let's see you pick up rocks hm?" Lila grumbled to herself as she stood up. Her tank top clung to her skin as her sweatpants were rolled up.

"I want you to dodge," he suddenly instructed.

"Dodge wha-" she cut herself off with a shriek as he sent a nearby chair flying towards her.

She leapt out of the way and judge barely dodged.

She heard the wretched sounds of him bending the metal of the chair apart. He turned it into four balls of metal about the size of her fist.

When one came flying towards her face she jumped back and her hand flew up, on command a wall arose from the ground. The metal ball lodged in the wall of earth.

"I said dodge not block, you need to use agility here," he put his hands on his hips in annoyance as the four spheres began circling her.

Her eyes widened when all of them swarmed towards her at the same time.

With no other option, she acted on instinct. The ground beneath her shot into the air. Lila squealed in fright as she knelt on the circular little island she'd created.

She hovered in the air on top of it, clinging to it as her stomach twisted from being in the air.

She peaked down, glaring at Erik as her hair fell around her.

"Good. You need to utilize all of the opportunities your powers bring you."

She looked up just in time to see one of the spheres racing towards her from behind. The rubble she sat on crumbled as she lost focus and she dropped down from ten feet in the air.

The wind was knocked out of her as she wheezed, Erik still being relentless urged her to stand up.

Just as she did so, one flew straight for her as she was barely able to create a shield.

The ground she lifted was too brittle, the metal breaking through and pegging her right in the stomach.

Falling back flat on her back, Lila groaned in pain as she held her ribs.

"Erik!" Charles voice yelled.

"What the hell man?!" Alex stormed out behind the telepath.

Lila began pushing herself up as they came out, she wheezed to try and stand so they wouldn't get worried.

Warm hands gripped her face abruptly, Alex held her cheeks tightly-smushing them together. He examined her face with angry eyes, his strong jaw clenched.

"You took it too far Lensherr!" Alex barked he shot a scathing glare to the unbothered metal manipulator.

"She did what she had to, we're going to battle- not something to be taken lightly. She did well, you should be proud," Erik growled as Charles scolded him.

"I'm okay," Lila rasped out as she held her torso.

"Let me see," Alex muttered quietly as he lifted her tank top.

Both glanced at the exposed brown skin, seeing it was already bruising with ugly purples and reds.

"Fuck," Alex hissed.

"I'm okay," she repeated and pulled away from his hold only a little.

"You don't have to worry about me," Lila shook her head with a small smile.

Erik followed Charles inside as they still argued.

"Lila-"

The brunette shook her head as she cut him off, "No, no I know I put a lot of pressure on you because of everything before and that wasn't fair. You really don't have to worry Alex." The words Lila has been rehearsing in her head were finally forced past her lips. Her doe eyes peered up at Alex underneath her lashes nervously.

He rubbed his brow as he stared down at the smaller girl, "I'm always going to worry about you."

Lila's smile faltered. Alex was going to give her whiplash at this point.

Her feelings were fragile, even if she didn't want to admit it. Alex couldn't play hot and cold forever.

Alex was shocked to see her roll her eyes a little, brushing her hair behind her ears.

"Okay," she crossed her arms.

"Okay?" he frowned. Crossing his own arms tightly, staring down at her.

"I mean okay, Alex. I hope your training is going good."

She went to walk back into the house but he gripped her arms. Backing her away from the house so they were underneath a tree, Alex felt his stomach twist.

"Wh-What's that supposed to mean?" he pressed his hands to his hips.

Lila's eyes widened a little at his confrontation. Her anxiety spiking high.

"It's not supposed to mean anything," she shook her head. "I-I just hadn't heard about how it was going the past couple days. I'm sure you're doing well- I have to get over to Raven."

Once again he caught her around the waist to stop her from leaving, "Lila..."

Combing her fingers through her curls, she huffed quietly.

"I'm trying to leave you alone- like you want Alex. I-I dont want to bother you or anything so just let me go," she nodded her head towards the door.

Alex's mouth fell open to try and tell her no don't leave him alone.

But he floundered, Lila stared at him for a moment before nodding once. She pat his chest before brushing past him.
