{Chapter 2}

Next thing I knew, I woke up back at home, my 'dad' sitting next to my bed. He jumped up in relief as he saw me awake. But the weird thing was that he was in full uniform, and 'mum' was nowhere to be seen.

"Oh, y/n, thank goodness you're awake. I thought I'd lost you for a minute..." He exclaimed behind his mask, hugging me as tightly as he could without pushing down on my wounds. I hugged back weakly, but we drew away quickly after.

"So, I know this is a bit soon, but... did you see anyone suspicious during the explosion yesterday?" He continued to talk.

Now, I could either tell him about the girl I saw, or not tell him anything about what had happened...

"I didn't see anyone," I eventually 'confessed', my voice slightly croaky.

He nodded, and jotted it down in a notebook he had beside him.

"Ok... I suggest you get some more rest, me and your mother are going to be gone for a while, whilst we try to capture the suspect of the explosion..."

It fell silent for a while, before I decided to speak up.

"I guess I'll see you later then..."

He nodded, and walked off, closing my bedroom door behind him.

It was at least an hour later before I heard a knock on my door. I thought it was weird since both mum and dad weren't supposed to be back until later, but I decided to let them in anyway.

"Come in!" I shouted with as much as I could muster.

The door opened to Caitlyn, who seemed awfully worried.

"Hey Y/n, how are you feeling?" She spoke up, sitting on the end of my bed.

I sat up slowly, and shrugged. I didn't particularly feel the best, of course...

"Ok then..." She continued, "Um... something's happened... the crystal, the one being used in the most important Hextech technologies, has gone missing. And it has supposedly been taken by the same person who caused the explosion yesterday..."

Oh god... that crystal is so damn valuable, yet now it's just... gone.

"Look, I'll try to help you as soon as possible-"

I spoke, before being interrupted by Caitlyn.

"No, no, you can't. Just try to rest as much as you can, I'll come back when I think you're ready..."

"Ok, fine..."

There was silence, but eventually Caitlyn handed me an envelope, decorated with all sorts of brightly coloured doodles. I stared at it in confusion whilst Caitlyn explained it.

"That was supposed to go to you, according to your name being on the back. The doodles and presentation looks familiar, suspicious if anything, but obviously the sender wanted this to get to you,"

Soon enough, Caitlyn left, and I was alone yet again. I opened the mysterious envelope, and surely enough there was a short letter on the inside, along with metal shards and neon splatters. The letter read:

'To Y/n, Hi! You probably don't know me, but that's fine! Maybe we should meet up, if I'm not busy with my stupid plans of course! See ya! -Jinx xx'

"Jinx, huh? Odd name..." I muttered to myself.

But then I realised. Could this be the girl that came up to me yesterday?

I could feel my face heat up again. It was obvious that something about that girl made me feel something...

I don't usually believe in love at first sight, but maybe this is an exception.
