Broken Eyes
AU where Tommy is blind because of things Dream did to him during exile. I've caught snippets of this AU in art on Pintrest, not sure who the idea originally came from.
Tw: Mentions of abuse
Tommy sat curled in the crater of Logstedshier, the stone still warm from the explosion, meaning he wouldn't freeze tonight. Dream had just blown the whole thing up, Tommy losing his home and his sight.
A rock had flown out of no where and hit him. He wasn't sure about the science around it but it must have struck a nerve or something because he was unharmed other than being compleatly in the dark.
He hadn't tried to move for several hours, attempting to get acquainted with the new world he was plunged into. He could hear something walking, the footsteps unnatural so he assumed it was an animal.
"Tommy?" The deep voice had startled him, he was used to Dream's comforting voice. "Oh goodness he's dead isn't he," he heard the footsteps down the crater and he decided to make his conscienceness known.
"Who's there?" He sounded threatening, like he wasn't lying on the ground a beaten up mess.
"Oh goodness Tommy what happened?" He felt the person crouch down beside him, placing a hand on his arm. He jumped at the sudden contact, not being able to tell it was coming. "Are you okay?"
"Depends, who are you?"
"What do you mean 'who am I'" the unidentified person asked sarcastically, "I'm your brother! Technoblade! It's hardly been a month Tommy, you're being dramatic."
"Do you see the crater? I don't think I'm being dramatic."
"The crater isn't that big, you can rebuild! You've done it before."
"I can't rebuild this time."
"Dream's really gotten to ya, huh?"
Tommy frowned and curled in on himself more, "into more ways than one. Do you know where he is? He said he would be back to help me."
Techno sat in silence for a moment, and Tommy let himself space out, forgetting the other was there, "what do you mean?"
Tommy jumped again at the suddenness of the voice, "I can't see, how am I supposed to rebuild without help?"
"What do you mean you can't see?" Techno had anger bubbling in his voice. Not directed at the boy, but at his captor.
"I'm blind Techno, how dense are you? Some stupid rock or something from the explosion. What else do you think 'I can't see' means?" He snapped, yelling at his brother.
"Tommy..."
"Have you seen Dream or not."
"No, and you're not going back to him," he declared, standing up and grabbing Tommy's hand.
He tried to pull the boy up, but Tommy just flopped around, "I'm not going back if I never left. He'll be able to help me Techno."
"He also did this to you, now stand up." Tommy stood up, now that he was on his feet he felt way more insecure.
"Where are you? Where'd you go?" Mild panic seeped into the boy's voice as he reached out for Techno.
"I'm right here, you're okay," he grabbed the boy's hand who immediately latched onto Techno's arm. "Use your senses, hearing is going to be your best friend now. So is touch. Taste and smell are kind of useless when it comes to finding your way around." Techno slowly started leading Tommy out of the pit, helping him up the side and away from Logstedshier. "What can you hear Tommy?"
The teen focused on his surroundings, "you're breathing, the trees, the horse over there," he pointed in the general direction where the creature was grazing.
"Good. You're already doing great, we're gonna go to my place," Techno lead the way, the blonde clinging to his right arm. Half way there Tommy stopped.
"Are we in a snow biome?"
Techno laughed, "yeah, bit cold isn't it."
"The snow feels so different, it's got texture I can feel not see."
"Yeah, I bet it does. I'll let you explore the world later, we gotta get to my place before Dream finds out you're gone," he dragged tommy along. The boy making remarks about the things he could hear and feel. It was like a child discovering something for the first time. Techno couldn't help but smile at how Tommy was adapting.
He helped Tommy up the stairs and sat him on a bed, "don't move, I don't want you to get hurt." Tommy nodded and wrapped the comforter of the bed around him.
Techno opened a chest and started rummaging around in it, listening to Tommy hum to himself.
"Here," he put a health potion in Tommy's hand, "this'll heal up your cuts and bruises." Tommy downed the potion, sticking his tongue out in disgust.
"Has it always tasted this bad?"
"Yep, you should brew potions more often."
"I just don't have the time! I'm a very busy man!" Tommy argued, a smile on his face.
"Not anymore, you're time is now going to be spent helping me. But first you gotta be able to freely walk around." Anxiety flashed across Tommy's face.
"But what if I can't? How can I roam freely without being able to see? Can't I just sit here on this bed, or go back to Dream?"
"Nope and nope, you're gonna adapt to the problem and work with it to make it not a problem," Techno pat the teens shoulder, making him jump. "We'll work on that."

Techno and Tommy now were able to work together, Tommy only tripping up when Techno rearranged furniture. "Can we kidnap someone?" The question came out of no where, Techno whipping his head to look at his younger brother.
"What?"
"Well you said they had taken all your stuff when they executed you, why not blackmail the president into giving it back?" Tommy was casually sorting through potions, he liked to reorganize chests when he was anxious or bored.
"Sure, but it's gotta be someone of importance. They aren't gonna give me my trident back in return for Niki or someone like that."
"Okay, let's go!" Tommy shut the chest and stood up, grabbing his arctic empire cloak and swinging it around his shoulders.
Techno smiled, he was glad his brother was on his side but sometimes he made questionable decisions. "Okay, let's go," guess he was going along with the questionable decision.
They walked towards L'manburg, Tommy able to feel which way his compass pulled and walk towards it. He hummed as he walked, Techno joining every one in a while when he knew the song. The stepped through the nether portal that stood at the entrance of L'manburg, coming face to face with Dream.
"Tommy?" The teen seemed conflicted, he wanted to reach out to the voice, but he was on Techno's side now.
"Can we help you, Dream?" Techno had hostility in his voice as he addressed the man.
"I'm gonna need Tommy back," he demaned.
"Well hello to you too, how have you been. Haven't seen eachother in a while, still the same toxic person as always?" Tommy asked, crossing his arms and glaring at where he heard Dream's voice come from.
"I'm not toxic Tommy, you spent a month with me, you know that," Dream softened his voice speak to the teen, causing the conflicting feelings to flash across the boy's face again.
"He's spent double that time with me, I'm not letting you take him back."
"Let me have him Techno, you haven't cared about him, I've heard you talking about it when you're in town."
"What?" Since Tommy couldn't see Dream's stance, he couldn't tell the the man was lying. Techno on the other hand knew exactly what Dream was trying to do.
"That's not true and you know it. The only way you're getting him is if you take him by force over my dead body."
Dream smirked, "you've still got a favor you owe me."
"You can have him if you use that," Techno crossed his arms, knowing Dream wouldn't. Tommy didn't know that though.
"Techno you can't sell me out like that!" He had panic kn his voice as he turned to Techno, who just pat his back.
Dream sighed, and Tommy could tell it was of disappointment, "fine. You can keep him." Dream buch past them. Entering the portal.
"I wouldn't sell you out. Listen to tone of voice Tommy, I taught you that. Don't let your emotions cloud your mind."
"Right right, sorry," Tommy fiddled with the fur of his cape as he walked onward, head down concentrating on the echo of his steps. "There are so many buildings, the sound bounces of everything!"
"It did that at my house to remember, you gotta concentrate, and you'll be able to see the buildings, just like with the chests."
"Tommy? Techno? What are you guys doing here?" Tommy's head snapped toward the very american voice.
"Connor?"
"Yeah! Wait, aren't you two exiled?"
Tommy walked toward the man, "I'll answer that in a second, listen j got a question. Do you know where Techno's trident is?"
"I think Fundy has it! And Tubbl has a few things too. Why?"
Tommy grabbed Connor's wrist and shoved him toward Techno. "We'll use him."
"I said someone important, this dude is useless," Techno held him in place to keep him from running anyway.
"Tubbo cares about everyone equally."
"Yeah, that's why you were exiled," Connor spat, realizing what was happening and what he was told.
"Thanks Connor, had no idea. As I was say, Tubbk will want loyal citizens back because he cares about them. Since Tubbl has some of your stuff we'll go to him."
Techno nodded, "seems legit. Let's go find him."
"TUBBO! TUBBO HEL-" a hand was put over Connor's mouth to shut him up.
"Guess that's one way," Techno noted as he forced Connor forward.
"Connor? Are you alright?" The distant British voice called, it's owner walking around the corner of a building not long after. "Tommy?"
Tubbo's voice shook, like he was going to cry just seeing the boy, "Tubbo." Tommy's voice was cold, his icy glare matching it.
"Tommy I thought you were dead! There was this huge crater and your tent was gone! I couldn't find you for ages, you're supposed to be dead!" Tubbo had so many emotions in his voice Tommy found it hard to decipher.
"Is that how you would have preferred it? If I had stayed dead. Out of your way."
"What no! That's not what I-" Tubbo took in the whole situation, realizing Tommy wasn't alone. "What are you doing with Connor?"
"Kidnapping him and keeping him for randsome."
"What do you want?"
"My stuff," Techno replied.
This time Fundy chimed in, Tommy jumping since he didn't know he was there, "we don't have it anymore."
"Well that's a lie," Tommy crossed his arms, shifting his glare to Fundy.
"Tommy look at me," Tommy's gaze went back to Tubbo. The young president stepped forward and placed a hand on Tommy's cheek, the boy flinching and stepping away.
"What?" He asked, someone hostile towards the other.
"Can you see me?"
Tommy looked where he assumed Tubbo's eyes were. In reality it was his forehead/hair which made his answer less believable, "of course I can, what kind of stupid question is that?"
Tubbo huffed, and Tommy heard him hold up his arm, "how many fingers am I holding up?"
"Can we get a move on please? I think Connor licked me," Techno tapped his foot on the ground, five times to be exact.
"Five. Now listen to him. We want the trident, or he dies." Tommy demanded.
"Wait that wasn't- okay...guess you're life's on the line now." Muffled protests came from Connor, but most paid no mind to him.
Tubbo sighed, "fine, whatever. As for the trident I believe Fundy has it. Fundy, give it to them."
"Tubbo," Fundy whispered in protest. Tubbo just looked at him expectantly. Fundy sighed, "fine. But I need to get it from an ender chest."
"I'll go with you, I don't want you running off," Tommy stepped forward, arms crossed.
"Tommy," Techno warned, but tommy waved him off.
"He can't hurt me, he's a furry!" He cracked a smile to Techno, but noticed the annoyed sigh from the pig so he turned back to Fundy. "Off you get," he shooed Fundy and followed him.
Tubbo stood tall as he waited with Techno, but he had to ask, "Tommy doesn't track my movements, or yours, he jumped when Fundy started talking and he doesn't make eye contact. And don't think I didn't notice the foot tapping. He can't see well, can he."
They mighty Technoblade let his angry demeanor fall, "He's compleatly blind. Dream did it."
Tubbo gasped, slapping a hand over his mouth directly after, "Dream did it? Dream said he would protect Tommy! That's what he told me!"
"Tommy's got through a lot, him and Dream are the only one's who know what happened. Dream won't tell and neither will Tommy. I've tried to use healing potions, that didn't work and I don't want to waist one of his lives to see if respawning will heal him. But he's perfectly capable of doing everything he was before."
"You helped him?" Techno nodded, "then I'll forget you were here. You're allowed access to L'manburg again if you continue to keep him safe. Just don't let anyone else see you."
"Don't think I forgive you for trying to execute me."
"I don't expect forgiveness, I expect you to keep my friend safe."
"We're back! I'm sure you missed me," Tommy announced as Fundy walked behind him carrying the trident. "Should be a fair trade, you hand us the trident and we might give you Connor back."
"Might?" Tubbo sounded sceptical as he looked at his friend.
"We'll have to see what condition the trident is in. Poor condition, you'll get Connor back in poor condition."
"Tommy that wasn't-"
"It is now, seems fair don't it?"
"If it wasn't a part of the plan why is it now?" Fundy sounded almost angry about what he was hearing. Connor tried to say something, but it was muffled by Techno's hand.
"Hm, what's that Connor? You agree, that's great. Our captive agrees with the terms so why don't you," Tommy demanded.
"He doesn't! If you give him back we'll give you the trident no problem!" Connor was dramatically sobbing, hopping to catch someone else's attention. Techno dropped the hand that was covering his mouth to whack the back of his head.
"No one wants to hear you."
"What's going on?" They turned to see Eret standing on the hill above him.
"Leave or you'll end up the Connor here," The teen gestured towards tk sobbing sonic man.
"I think I'm good, why don't you tell me why Connor's crying."
"I'VE BEEN TAKEN HOSTAGE IDIOT! WHY DO YOU THINK IM CRYING?" Yechno put his hand over Connors mouth again whispering to him to shut up.
"Well I can see that."
"We're negotiating for his freedom, he's just being Connor," Tubbo clarified.
"What do you two want?"
Tommy pinched the bridge of his nose as he walked towards Eret, "look at this group around us and tell me what you see."
"Ohh, you want the trident," it clicked in Eret's brain as he looked at the group.
"Yeah, and now you're gonna help us get it," Tommy pushed Eret down the hill, the king not enjoying that much pushed Tommy back.
"I'm not here for that, get your hands off me," Eret moved out of Tommy's reach and as the boy searched for him he tripped and tumbled down the hill. Eret started laughing leading to Tubbo and Fundy laughing and eventually Connor.
"Who made that hill so dang narrow! It feels like there should be more space!" Tommy complained from spot on the ground.
"Tommy come here, you're fine." The teen stood up, but wasn't sure which way he was facing. "Tommy come on, I don't have all day." He used the sound of Techno's voice to walk back, only stumbling slightly stepping up onto the prime path.
"Just give us the trident."
"Give us Connor."
"Same time?"
"Why should they trust you blind boy?" Connor had bitten Techno's hand, so he could hopefully hit one of the teens insecurities.
Tommy whipped around to glare at him, "who told you," he growled out the demand.
"Techno did," Tubbo answered. Fundy whispering a confused 'what?' As tommy's head snapped up to Techno.
"You told them!"
"Tubbo asked and I knew I could trust him! I forgot Connor was here."
"You forgot!" Tommy let out and angry sigh, turning back to Tubbo "I'm going to speak with you later. Give us the trident and you'll have Connor back unharmed."
Tubbo nodded and Fundy stepped forward, placing the trident in Tommy's outstretched hand. Tommy turned to Techno and Connor and prodded Connor's arm.
"Ow! What the heck man!"
"Just testing it," Tommy grabbed Connor and roughly shoved him towards the others.
"Tommy-" Tubbo was cut off by Tommy tuning a glare to him, the boy shrunk back and watched at Tommy walked off, cloak bellowing dramatically.
Techno opened his mouth to say something but decided against it.
"You don't keep him safe, one of your lives will belong to me," Tubbo warned. Techno paused in his stride, glancing back, before following Tommy into the portal.
"What was that?" Techno demanded once they were a safe way into the nether.
"You told them. I could have played it off as nothing but you went and told them," Tommy had a fury few could match. He was really sensitive about his blindness, and Techno had been the only one to know.
"They were going to find out eventually. Tubbo's your best friend, he needs to know." Techno's communicator chimed, it was a message from Tubbo asking if Tommy was free to talk. "Tubbo wants to talk to you."
"He's not my friend anymore, I don't want to talk to him."
"You can't-"
"I can and I will. Watch me," Tommy spun around to face Techno, but he slipped on the edge of the one block bridge and fell towards the bubbling lava.
Technoblade, with his lightning reflexes, caught the boy the by his cloak.
"Please don't drop me. Please don't let me fall," Tommy panicked as he reached both his hands up for Techno.
"I'm not gonna drop you, I've got you." Techno knew he was stuck, his free hand couldn't reach Tommy's outstretched ones, and the cape wasn't going to hold if they moved to much.
"Oh, what a pickle you've gotten yourself into," Dream cooed from above them. "What are you gonna do?"
"Dream please, just help us up."
"What am I gonna get out of it?"
"Dream!" Tommy shouted, the panic in his voice displayed across his face aswell. "Please! I'm sorry I left you! Help me!"
"Tommy," he clicked his tongue in disappointment, "you should know by now that sorry isn't enough." Dream plunged his sword into Techno's free hand, keeping it stuck to the bridge. "You're gonna have to wiggle your way out of this one without help." Dream walked off, a quiet laugh being heard as he got further away.
"Techno are you alright?" Tommy asked once Dream was totally gone.
He glanced at the sword that kept him from reaching out to his little brother, "I'll be okay, just try to keep from moving."
Tommy stayed silent, he didn't know what Dream had done, but the sound of a sword being unsheathed wasn't a good sign.
"Boys?" Philza called. He had gotten the fatherly sence that his boys were in danger, and he was right. He walked around the corner to see Tommy hanging over the lava and Techno stuck to the bridge. "Holy crap Techno, Tommy!" He ran forward and pulled the sword out of Techno's hand, wrapping his cape around it. He then grabbed Tommy's hands and pulled him up. He hugged both of them close, "what happened!?"
"I slipped and fell, Techno caught me and then Dream came along. I heard a sword but I'm not sure what happened," Tommy explained, clearly shaken.
"It's fine, Dream didn't do anything," Techno watched his blood spread through the blue fabric of Philza's cape.
"Let's get you home. We'll have hot tea and watch a movie," Philza suggested, handing his oldest son a golden apple and taking his yongest's hand.
"Philza Minecraft, think about what you just said," Tommy prompted his father as they walked.
"You don't wanna watch a- Oh," the three laughed, and Philza quickly apologized, "sorry sorry, how about I tell stories instead?" They both nodded and listened as Philza told a story about his hardcore world he would work on when he wasn't spending time with his family.
Three thousand, five hundred, and fourteen words (3514) Of me writing absolutely nothing. It was actually quiet nice to just write and not have a story line. This is so long I'm not even going to think about editing it.
Hope you all have a lovely day/night and know you are loved <3
