A hand rests on your shoulder interrupting you and Froggit conversation. You turned to come face to face with Sans, standing there with his usual smile. "We should get going don'tcha think?" You nodded and put Froggit on your other shoulder and smiled weakly "yeah..." You briefly looked over to the green monster who was killed by the evil bastard Flowey as a couple other monsters were picking up her body and placing her gently into a hospital bed that used to harbour Undyne.

Sans followed your gaze to the tragic sight, all the monsters around expressions were downcast but had somewhat of hope in their eyes. Sans sighed and looked down for a moment, then turned to you "We'll get him back." He half heartedly grinned at you, you mimicked his expression while looking down at your feet. A moment of silence passed before you turned to him and grabbed him roughly by the jacket, causing Froggit to fall off your shoulder and to the ground. Before Sans could process what was happening his eye flamed and he was about to shoot bones from the ground into your body.

But the feeling of your arms wrapped around him registered in his head before he did anything rash. It was just the suddenness of your act that made his instincts kick in, unbeknownst to you.

Froggit groaned quietly while just sitting the, face planted on the floor. But he looked back at you and Sans, he froze in terror at the sight of the flaming eye and the slight blue glow that was pushing against the bottom on the floor. He couldn't move, terrified that if he did Sans may do it, whether on purpose or on accident since he could see how tense the skeleton was at the moment, so he did the one thing he was good at and glared.

You had your head stuffed into Sans' hood fluff for comfort, the ketchupy smell wrapped you up kindly before Sans did. He stood there as still as possible as he looked down at the bones beneath your feet that had just about come out, making the floor sort of bump up. Guilt welled in the pit of his stomach at the proof. He still didn't completely trust you. The largest part of him wanted to, but the smaller more logical part told him 'not yet'.

He frowned down at your back sadly, he didn't want to hurt you but he had just almost killed you. His soul ached at the thought and he took a second.

He suddenly wrapped his arms around you and pulled you closer and held you desperately as close as he could with his head digging into your shoulder, his cold face gave you goosebumps as it touched your bare neck and the bones went back into the earth. Including the wall he had made to protect you.

Froggit let out a held breath in relief, thanking whatever god he could think of for this close call ending without bloodshed.

You smiled brightly at this as your blush spread across your face like a wildfire. With no knowledge of what had almost just happened. "Thank you Sans." You muttered happily into his jacket.

The skeleton laughed. "Kid, I'd have to stop this flower even if you weren't here."

You pulled away from him, arms still around his neck as you shrugged a little. "Meh, well, I like to think you're doing it to help me." He tried to keep his eyes from looking like he was truly smiling, but the urge to smile was too great due to your smug remark and instead it turned it into a smirk and he rolled his eyes "Well, if it's any difference to you, the thought of helping you out is a little motivational." He said through a smirk.

A softer grin made its way onto your face. And you put your hands on both sides of his skull, gently leaned over and gave his cheek a little tender kiss and pulled away "It actually does make a difference to me."

Sans stared at you, and you watched with a sly look as the blue began to dust his cheeks as he started to chuckle nervously. You stifled a laugh at his antics, making him feel more embarrassed and frown at you with his face turning a darker shade.

"We should just get going." He said looking down and off to the side with his shoulders shrugged up to where his ears would be. You nodded, struggling to hold back your giggles. He huffed and turned to the many monsters bustling around, no longer tolerating your abuse.

Your smile stayed as you mimicked him, looking at the other monsters, however it slowly faded as the bleakness of the situation returned to you, but thanks to Sans you felt a bit better and tried not to think about it too much.

Froggit tapped your shin to get your attention and gestured for you to pick him up, instead of trying to climb you himself. You mentally thanked him for not making that mistake twice.

He sat on your shoulder with a knowing look on his face, but he kept his thoughts to himself "Shouldn't you start leaving?" He asked in a sort of snappy way (like always)

You nodded and said "Yes, but I think we should find Undyne first."

Looking over the crowd your eyes had stopped at the sight of the flamey red hair, belonging to Undyne. She seemed to be okay, besides the large bandage wrapping around her torso and shoulder tightly with the little bit of blood staining it and her wincing a bit when she moves it too much.

You felt bad about it, even is she had taken a foot off of you... Literally, chopping your foot off.

The woman in the bed was wheeled out behind the many monsters who were making their way back to the lab. Doctor Alphys came towards Undyne with worry etched all over her face. "U-Undyne.... B-B-Be c-careful! Your w-wound isn't c-completely h-h-healed! I-I would not recommend-" The tall fish woman smiled sweetly down at Alphys and put a hand kindly on her round cheek "Don't worry Alphy! I'm not gonna let your hard work trying to get me all better go to waste!"

Alphys blinked and fixed her glasses nervously "Y-Yes, o-o-of course! Wh-why-why would I even think y-y-you would." Undyne chuckles softly then bends down and places a gentle kiss atop the dinosaurs head. Alphys tensed and blushed deeply and began to stutter a bunch of undefinable words. Undyne cut her off by resting her head on hers "Get them ready, keep them safe." They locked eyes. "But when all this goes down, I promise you, I'll protect you with my life. Stay safe until then."

Alphys blinked rapidly then nodded quickly. Undynes lips curled into her regular, over the top smile and stepped back, straightening her back out then walking away, but turned to look at the now red doctor as she skipped backwards "I'll see you soon!" She said and then turned around, her hair whipped behind her, as she ran towards you and Sans.

You then realized as she approached, you were staring, and you quickly turned away pretending that you hadn't seen the completely adorable sene play out as you fiddled with a nearby fake plants leaves, pretending to be interested in it more more than anything else.

Froggit rolled his eyes "you aren't fooling anyone." He said in condescending tone.

You sushed him and kept on the act, hoping Undyne didn't see you watching.

The fish hopped up towards Sans "You ready to go?" She asked. "Yeah, let's go." He replied gruffly.

Undyne looked over at you, standing dumbly before the fake potted plant, still playing with the plastic leaves. "Hey Fiddlesticks! You gonna come with? or is this a bad time?" This comment made Froggit laugh.

You jumped a little and stopped poking at the plant "uh... Y-Yeah..." You were about to go but you stopped in your tracks at the feeling of no hat on your head "Actually, I forgot something. I'll catch up with you guys!" You said and handed Froggit to Undyne, and before Sans, Undyne or Froggit could say anything you took off, against the flow of the monsters, getting to the back door.

+ + +

I can't believe I almost forgot you!

You thought to yourself as you squatted before your backpack full of clothing, fishing through it, until finally pulling out Ike's toque and plopped it onto your head. You picked up your pack and slung it over your shoulder lazily. While standing to your feet.

Before moving you once more succoured Ike's toque on your head by pulling the strings down a little more.

It's sorta weird that you got a whole society to fight something that's in your mind.

Chara, they're not fighting you, they're fighting Flowey. Get over yourself.

You sighed in disgust.

Before Chara could talk back you turned around right as Sans appeared, scaring the living shit outta you. "HOLY FUCK!!" You fell back onto your bum and scrambled back before realizing there was no threat. Shakily you placed a hand over your heart, then went to punch Sans in the arm, but decided against it. "Goddammit Sans! Why?!"

The skeleton grinned widely at your reaction "Undyne told me to get you, since you were taking so long." You rolled your eyes and got everything that had fallen out of your pack together and stuffed it back in. "Yeah well, I was just about to go." You stood and turned to him, backpack now on your back again. "She must be feeling better huh?" You said rolling your robotic ankle, recalling the fight.

Sans shrugged "I don't know." You walked towards him and you side hugged each other. "If she isn't she's doing a hell of a job faking." You smiled a little "Quite the tough lady huh?"

Sans nodded "You should see her when she cooks. She gets really physical."

You didn't know why but just him saying that sentence so easily made it that much funnier. You looked at him, making sure he was being serious, and he was. You cracked a smile and started to laugh, and laugh hard "What?! Wh-WhhHHAAA!!! HahaHaHAHAA!!"

Sans laughed along with you loudly, remembering the one time he sat in on his brothers cooking lessons one time and listening to her rants about how spaghetti is a warriors food while punching tomatoes and Papyrus somehow catching the spaghetti on fire while it was boiling.

You both leaned onto each other for support, while you kept laughing uncontrollably.

The world began to warp again as Sans decided it would be best to hurry before the fish comes down here herself, however both you and Sans were still laughing, even while your surroundings spun and shrunk, as you weaved through things and the world then expands again and you're standing in the in the soon to be army.

You both had scared some monsters as you appeared

I feel you fam...

You slowed you laughter forcibly, attempting to stop drawing attention to yourself.

Sans kept you close to his side as he slowed his chuckling. However, you didn't mind it at all, it was nice to joke around with someone in times when people need it most.
You tugged on the strings of Ike's reindeer toque, and the first time since his death you didn't feel alone or out of place.
