Heat Consumes The Stray

I felt something refreshingly cold across my forehead, it was to carefully placed but, could it have been rain?

It couldn't be someone helping me, no one was foolish enough to do that.

I groaned again, cursing the fever for dulling my self-control. I had hoped I wouldn't make any noise in case someone else was near, I couldn't draw attention to myself.

"Hi! My name's Blaze... I mean sorry that I put dirty water on your head but it was a good idea at the time," she - Blaze - continued to ramble on, I held up a hand to stop her, I heard the abrupt halt in the flow of chatter. I hadn't opened my eyes yet but I didn't need to be a genius to figure out she stopped talking, good.

"Thank you, you're not from around here are you?" I asked blankly, I didn't hear anything then I heard "Nope! Actually I'm from the forest!" I thought this over, it was less crazy then her being from around here, after all the only people that lived there were- "Wait..." I started, pausing halfway "Are you from one of the dangerous gangs that live around there?" My fever was still going strong but I managed to sit up and open my eye. She looked sheepish for a moment "yes...?" she answered, her voice raising in pitch nervously. I was able to pick out two things;

One, she was a horrible liar,

Two, that means she will never survive here.

I sighed and felt my head reel from the consequences, I winced and Blaze looked at me carefully. I stared back, trying not to let her see how weak I was, especially if she was from a gang.

I staggered and tried to stand up, using the wall to cover my measly weight completely. The girl looked at me in concern "Here! I'll help you!" she declared, reaching out a hand to me... A little too quickly and knocking me over, sending me sprawling onto the cold stone.

Three, she was truly, utterly, completely clumsy

I whimpered in pain as my frail bones crashed into the ground, Blaze retracted her still extended and looked at me apologetically "Oh! I'm so sorry! Sometimes I don't think! Help me up... NO, NO, NO I meant I'll pull you up! Just try and use the wall, don't worry, this happened all the time with my mom!" she continued to ramble on as I suddenly felt exhausted,

I ran into a weird and clumsy mob-girl

I got a horrible fever

The mob-girl decided to help me, when she doesn't even know my name

 And I had just fallen asleep on the pavement, completely vulnerable.
