I flapped my wings for the next few days and ate the deer on the stone. The ground element dragon would disappear for hours at a time and then finally appear to watch the end of my helpless flaps.

My stomach growled like a dog on the fifth day. The female dragon hadn't returned and the deer was only going to last for one last meal. With a sigh, I climbed onto the tallest rock I could find. My claws scraped on the stone as I scrambled up the side. I reached the top and saw the male dragon smiling up at me.

"Now jump!" he shouted. This felt like suicide but I'd be reborn anyways. I trusted this dragon and I will jump.

There was nothing below my feet anymore, I had launched off of the rock and started my fall. My wings seemed to work on their own as they flapped around to straighten me. My tail whistled in the wind as my descent began but soon dropped below me. I was slowing down. No, I was stopped... The powerful thrust of my wings kept me stationary in the air. I tried to steer them on my own and ended up going forward. Somehow, I managed to lower myself to the ground and land. The male came to greet me with a look of excitement on his face.

"Ground element dragons don't grow their wings until they're a full year old. I'll be walking for a while but that was amazing! You were great!" he jumped for joy and tugged at my tail.

"Is that why you've been running off? To train your reborn dragon body to hunt?" I asked as I looked him straight in his reptile-like eyes.

"Yeah... I didn't want to have to eat your meals. It looks like it's just about gone anyways. Hey, if I teach you to hunt, will you stick around and hunt for me until my wings grow?" he asked with a serious look plastered onto his face, "I mean, you don't have to but, I'll owe you one!" he gave one final goofy grin and then paused, "I'm going to give you some time to think. I'm going to hunt for myself right now." The brown dragon walked off into the forest once more leaving me to think on my own...

I wrote 4 chapters for homework and my language arts teacher wouldn't let us go over 600 words so one more short chapter :3
