This will be a series of haiku/senryu and short reflections using the dragonfly life cycle as my starting point to contemplate upon various aspects of our human life cycle.

This past summer, I noticed more dragonflies in my garden than in other years. I was pleased that my garden was a welcoming haven for these beautiful insects. Or perhaps I noticed an increase in the dragonfly population because this summer's exceptionally warm weather allowed me to sit more often in my backyard.  I had more days to enjoy the gentle breezes that brought many natural wonders from the sky, including cardinals, blue jays, butterflies and dragonflies to my little piece of paradise where I could observe them silently and in awe.

Now that this wonderful summer weather is just a fleeting memory in my bones and in my mind, I hope to bring back some of its warmth and tranquil moments with a few meditative haiku inspired by the dragonfly.
