Chapter 10
Each second that the lift took up as it descended brought the tension higher and higher. The group stood, ready and waiting to make a move, be it a mad dash or a serious fight. Alter Guzma staying back had hopefully bought them a little bit of time, though (Y/N) couldn't help but wonder who exactly she was more worried about. The Alternate Guzma, or the poor guard he looked ready to break the bones of. After all, the alternate versions of everyone had brought up on multiple occasions just how violent this guy could be, which was only backed up by how unstable he acted. Had the Guzma (Y/N) was familiar with not gone to jail, would he have been he same?
"Get ready." Gladion notified as the first floor finally came into view. Surprisingly there were no guards. They had known the distraction was going to get most of them out of the way, but all of them? It seemed almost too easy. It seemed many people on that lift shared the same sentiment.
"Where are the remaining guards?" Midnight asked, looking around as she cautiously stepped off the lift with the others.
"Either they all got distracted, or they got scared off." Guzma glared at the empty space around them, as if his gaze would make people materialize out of thin air.
Alter Gladion looked to the entryway that would lead them to the outside. "The exit is unblocked, let's get going before something does show up."
The group collectively seemed to agree on that being a good idea. They moved cautiously, keeping their guard up. They didn't know if guards were waiting to ambush them, or if for whatever reason they really were gone. It wasn't really worth the risk.
They stepped outside to the pathway leading to the family home. The rain was pouring down in drops big enough to actually have some force behind them when they landed. Intense winds blew and they could hear the sea crashing roughly into the sides of the paradise.
From where they stood they could finally see some guards through he trees, all standing near the farthest edge, attacks flying from their Pokémon as they tried to land a good hit on the Charizard that could be spotted flying in the distance.
Recognizing this as the perfect chance to make their entrance without too much of a hassle, the group quickly rushed across the path. (Y/N)'s heart beat faster the closer they got to the home. It looked so different from when they had last seen it. It really didn't look like decorating Lusamine would have liked, considering she wasn't that big of a fan of darker colors like black, especially not when paired with red. Though looking back on it, maybe thats why Gladion started dressing the way he did.
The manor now more closely resembled a castle. The dark towers sprung inti the night sky decorated with banners embroidered with a rainbow R. Red lights seemed to come out of the ground and shine up on the walls, only adding the the ominous look. On the bright side, these guys were clearly not trying to hide who the bad guys in the situation were.
They were rather close to the door, no longer trying to be sneaky about the approach. At this point there was no need to be, only a second more and they could bust in.
Though things never really worked out as planned.
"Stop right there!" Most people in the group recognized the voice. It was the kind of voice you didn't forget despite how much you wanted to forget the person. (Y/N) let an annoyed groan slip out as ex-branch chief Faba blocked their way to the door.
Most expressions were shared by the group, the top two being annoyance and disbelief. "Get out of our way old man!" Aireona yelled.
"I think not! I've been waiting for one of you to show up since the kid on the Charizard started flying around! And here I find a whole group of you just rushing to meddle in Team Rainbow Rocket's plans!" Faba complained, his disgust only serving to annoy (Y/N) that much more.
"Team Rainbow Rocket?" (Y/N) questioned. She remembered Team Rocket from Kanto, though had never directly encountered them. Seeing the logo however just made her remember what little about them she knew. It wasn't exact, but exchange the rainbow for silver and you had the same logo.
"Why yes! With their resources, moving my carrier along will be quite a bit faster. They have quite a few members who are oh so interested in helping Pokémon!" Faba gave a smile, though it was far more devious than probably intended.
"Team Rocket never wanted to help Pokémon!" (Y/N) yelled, "Back in Kanto and even in Jhoto they used Pokémon to gain more power! They hurt innocent people and Pokémon all for money!" The Alola champion couldn't stand the thought.
"Mother trusted you Faba!" Lillie exclaimed, "How could you betray her like this? There is no way this is something that she wanted!"
"Yeah! Prez has gone crazy and all but no way she would want something like this!" Guzma butt in.
Faba gave an annoyed click of his tongue, "Of course none of you would be willing to listen to reason."
"And this is reason?!" Gladion pushed his way back to the front of he group, "These people who are attacking innocent people and Pokémon who get within so much as a mile of the foundation, these people bring reason?!"
"More reason than you children have." Faba offhandedly commented, "But if you aren't willing to listen, then it looks like I will have to make you." He grabbed a Pokéball from his pocket, holding it before the group as though it were a threat.
"We don't have time to stand here and fight!" Alter Gladion exclaimed, "If we stay the guards are going to come back!"
"We will loose our only shot at getting Necrozma back!" Midnight shrunk into herself, seeming horrified at the thought. Aireona looked to her distressed friend and her expression turned to one of fiery, rage fueled, determination.
"Move aside!" Aireona not so politely shoved her way through the two Gladions at the front of the group, bringing out a Pokéball of her own, "When the battle starts, you guys go in."
"But what if the guards come back? Then you'll be outnumbered!" (Y/N) exclaimed.
"No biggie." Aireona shrugged, a smirk decorating her face, "Just head on in and kick some spaceship behind!" Aireona tossed her Pokéball into the air, it letting out a Zoroark upon its decent.
Faba threw out a Pokémon of his own, his Claydol ready to face the looming threat before it. Aireona gave another smirk, mostly in an attempt to tick off Faba before calling out, "Alright Mama! You know what we do to man children! Send him to the corner!" The Zoroark let out a cry and charged headfirst into the Claydol. Aireona looked back to her group, "Thats your cue!"
The group didn't wait a second longer, rushing by and giving quick "Good luck"s and "Thank you"s to he girl before plowing through the door.
"Be safe alright?" (Y/N) called.
"Will do! Now go save the foundation already!"
