Gwen Stacy sat on top of a building, reading one of her school books, studying for her finals. She was hoping to get into college the next year, and she needed to pass her finals. Some people found it strange to see the Spider-Woman hanging upside down, reading a science book, and muttering terms she needed to know and memorize. She had her mask halfway off to eat an energy granola bar that helped with managing her fast metabolism and symbiote. Gwen groaned and crawled back to the flat roof to grab another Red Bull. The books weren't going to read themselves.

On the roof, Gwen pulled down her mask and gathered all of her school supplies, jamming them into her tannish-green backpack. She was running late to band practice with MJ, Betty, and Gloria. MJ hated when Gwen was late, and since none of them knew she was Spider-Woman, it made everything harder. In all honesty, Gwen hated lying to the people she cared about, but it was the only way to keep them safe. Matt had taught her that, in both the hard and easy ways.

The only people who knew Gwen's identity were Matt Murdock, Frank Castle, and her father, Captain Stacy. She was somehow managing her civilian life and her vigilante life. Surprisingly, she was doing pretty well overall.

"Hey, Gwen!" Gwen spun around to see Miles Morales in his spider suit. "How have ya been?" He walked toward her and sat on the edge of the building, glancing at her backpack. "Homework?" he guessed, breathing in a hiss and wincing. "I swear, it sucks the life out of you."

Gwen laughed and sat next to Miles. "Yeah, just some math and science," she shuddered with a laugh. "What are you doing here?" she asked, pulling off her mask and hood. "I thought you were busy with finals."

"Those ended a few days ago. I am home free for the summer," Miles explained, gesturing with his arms. "Home. Free." He repeated with a grin on his face as he had also taken off his mask. "I figured I'd come to surprise you. Still studying for your finals?"

"Yeah, but I'm almost done," Gwen responded, tucking a piece of her blonde hair behind her ear. "I'm supposed to take them on Monday," she shuddered, "the worst day to take tests." She put her backpack next to her and decided she wasn't going to stress out. If she missed practice, she missed practice.

"Anything exciting happen?" Miles wondered, swinging his legs a little. "Nothing much has been happening for me. Everyone seems to be quiet." He stretched his arms in the air.

"Murderdock has been leaving me alone, which is strange, but I'm not complaining. Manwolf was a bit of a pain, but I took care of him. Harry is doing pretty well, and the band is getting better," she listed, using her fingers to keep count. "Other than that, nothing has really affected me much."

"Eh, sometimes it's nice to just take a breather and relax. Most of us spiders are teenagers," he spoke, referencing some of the other spiders excluding Noir and Jessica. "Speaking of the others, have you kept contact with them?"

"Yeah, I've been talking with Cindy, Jess, Penni, and Noir. Ham, is well, a work in progress," Gwen winced. Spider-Ham was surprisingly wise for a cartoon version of the spider, and a great spider to hang around with, but sometimes, he was a bit eccentric.

"Hey, he is pretty chill," Miles pointed out, leaning back. "Peter B. is doing pretty good, or so I've heard from him. Though, do you ever wish you could explore of the multiverse? See other earths with different spiders?"

"Kind of?" Gwen shrugged, not really having a full answer. "Though, seeing all those different Peters hurt." She looked down. Her Peter had died and she couldn't save him.

"I know, and that sucks," Miles tried to comfort Gwen. "At least you know other Peters survived and became like us," he gave her a reassuring smile. "Come on, race ya to the precinct." He thwiped his webs and swinged off into the city.

"Cheater!" Gwen playfully called, pulled on her mask, and chased Miles, shipping her backpack to her. "When I catch up to you-" she was cut off by er spider-senses going off and a large glowing portal. "What the-" she gaped before being pulled in. "MILES!" she yelled.

Gwen felt her body free-falling into a void of dark purple and other blues and greens. Her spider-sense was going berserk, and her symbiote wasn't liking whatever she was going through either. Both going off, Gwen was in pain, and not the good kind of pain. She tried to scream out, but she couldn't make any sound. It was getting harder to breathe.

"Ahhhh!" Gwen found herself screaming as a light blinded her, and suddenly, she was free-falling in the middle of New York, but she couldn't recognize where she was. 'Come on, Spider powers. Work!' she silently prayed as her powers were known to fritz out whenever she traveled to different dimensions.

Getting closer to the ground, Gwen twisted her body and tried to thwip her webs. 'YES!' She mentally cheered as they worked. Using the momentum, she swung her body and roughly landed on top of a building. Groaning in pain, Gwen laid there, her head pounding and body aching. Her vision started to get blurry and her other senses started to fade.

"Wh....o....ar....ou?" Gwen heard a voice, yet everything was too much. She tried to cover her ringing ears. Panic set in when she realized she couldn't move. Hyperventilating, Gwen tried to move and yet again failed to. Her vision started to go black. 'Help me...'

Alas, the long-awaited prologue.

I hope you all enjoyed this, and I apologize for the wait. I've been extremely busy with life, school, and personal issues. However, I have braved them for you all and have given you a chapter.
