Chapter 34
September 9th, 1960
11:04 p.m.
"So Paulie, she yer girl now?" John slurred, his legs propped up on the table in front of him as he motioned to me.
I blushed, glancing up at Paul who beamed down at me before gazing at George who shot me a look of disapproval, before coughing into his elbow. George and I hadn't talked since yesterday night.
Sweat began to gather in beads on the back of my neck, as George glared at me intensely. Looking away from his sharp brown eyes, I glanced over to John who smiled knowingly, happy that he had set his plan into action. I was hesitant to trust John completely, especially since he was now a bit hopped up on booze and pills.
Swallowing quietly, I ripped my eyes from John and looked back over at Paul who smiled at me sweetly, and rubbed his thumb over my shoulder blade repeatedly.
"If she'd like to be..." Paul chuckled, wrapping his arm snugly around me.
"What do you say, Jackie?" He whispered, making my mouth become dry. Licking my lips, I blushed bright red still unable to form a proper sentence.
I became overwhelmed as my eyes shot back and forth between Paul's expectant gaze, George's glaring, and John's devilish smirk.
"Hm? You want to be me girl?" Paul pressed, planting gentle kisses down the side of my face making my cheeks heat up even more.
"Look at 'er face!" John crowed, laughing loudly as Paul's lips moved to brush against mine.
"Alright..." George rasped softly, his voice nearly being drowned out by John's obnoxious cackling.
"That's enough, Paul!" He shouted, standing up from his chair and leaning across the table.
"He's had enough!" John shouted, continuing to laugh as Paul pulled away from me.
"Excuse me?" Paul retorted, standing up and leaning forward until he was just a few inches from George.
"I said that's enough..." George spoke quietly, his eyes looking between Paul and I, his cheeks scarlet yet again.
"I'm sick and tired of you pawing at my girl all the time." George added, his voice shaking slightly as he spoke.
"She isn't yours anymore, you lost her the first night we came 'ere, and then you went out catting around with John." Paul argued, as John licked his lips slightly, watching all the drama unfold.
"I still care about 'er..."
"That's beside the point! She isn't your girlfriend anymore and can be with whoever she wants!" Paul yelled, pushing George slightly which made him stumble back into a big fellow.
"You gotta problem?" The man asked, eyeing George intently as if to size him up, my heart thumped erratically, this was not going to end well.
"No, no sir." George mumbled, his eyes growing wide when the 6'5'' beast of a man stood up.
"Really? Because you just slammed into me?" Beastie pushed, shoving George back into one of the tables.
"Get the fuck off me." George shot back, pushing the man who happened to be twice his size, back. The man grinned at George's attempt to defend himself, before winding his fist back and hitting George in the eye.
I gasped, instantly standing up only to have John push me back down and shake his head no before moving over to help George.
"Don't punch him you big sack of shit!" John yelled, decking the man in the face before all hell broke loose and chairs and fists were flying.
"George!" I yelled, watching him stumble about weakly in the middle of the war zone that was called a bar. His lips turned upwards slightly, as I hurried over to him while John and Paul were busy beating the crap out of the man.
"Are you, ok?" I asked, blushing as his velvety orbs peered into mine.
"Jacqueline, go take care of 'is eye." John ordered, pointing towards the door. I nodded, reaching for George's arm and pulling him outside.
We walked quietly arm in arm all the way to the dank little hole that was the boys home for a short while.
"Why don't you go sit..." I began, watching him nod and head over to his little bottom bunk.
"Do you have a headache?"
He shook his head, looking down at the ground. Sighing, I went into the dirty little kitchen to try and construct a makeshift ice pack. Grabbing a plastic sack and filling it with ice, getting the towel off the oven door handle incase the ice was too cold for him.
"Here..." I mumbled, squatting down between his legs and looking at the pale skin around his eye that had started to turn yellow, and was swelled up.
"Do you want me to put this towel around it? It'll make it less cold."
He nodded, watching me intently as I wrapped the small hand towel around the baggy of ice and gently rested it on his eye.
He winced slightly sniffling as he reached for something to wipe his nose with, "I'm sorry, did I press too hard?"
"No." He spoke quietly, reaching up to touch my hand that held the ice, making my heart accelerate and my breathing become uneven.
"Jackie..." he mumbled, looking at me and running his hand down my arm to my elbow.
"Y-yes?" I stuttered, looking at his sleepy brown eyes that watched me intensely, making goosebumps rise up on my skin.
"Kiss it and make it better..."
Blushing, I nodded taking the ice off his slightly swelled eye and placing a feather light kiss on it.
"My lip too, it kinda hurts." He mumbled, blushing slightly as he pointed to the affected area.
"K-kiss it?" I spoke nervously, my heart practically beating out of my chest when I watched him nod.
Leaning forward, I placed my lips on his once again. His arms instantly encircling my waist as mine flew to wrap around his neck. Overjoyed that I was able to feel his sweet lips on mine again.
"Jackie..." he mumbled, lips moving down to the tender flesh of my neck.
"Yes?" I panted, dropping the bag of ice I still held so I could tangle my hands in his hair.
"I love you..."
"I love you, too..."
He grinned, rubbing his nose on mine before plunging his lips back down onto mine. I moaned, scooting up on the cramped little bed when I felt his tongue dart into my mouth.
His hand gently played with the hem of my shirt, while his other was busy tangling itself in my hair.
"I'm sorry fer being an arse to you on the phone..." he spoke breathlessly, his lips moving back down to nip and suck love bites on my neck.
"I'm sorry too, I shouldn't have listened to my dad." I whimpered, playing with the silky hair on the nape of his neck.
"Mm..." he hummed grinning widely, leaving soft open mouth kisses, down my neck, to my collarbone making me shiver.
"I love you, Jackie..."
"I love you too, George..." I whispered as he hovered over me, his soft lips brushing against my earlobe.
"Really?" He smiled down at me, his eyes glistening as they searched mine.
"Absolutely."
"W-will you um..." he paused, his hand rubbing the skin my shirt had risen up over making me shiver under his rough fingertips.
"Will you give me another chance? I want to talk to yer father once we get back though." He chuckled nervously, biting his lower lip as his eyebrows knit together.
"Of course I will." I grinned, blushing when his lips met mine once again.

7:09 a.m.
"Good morning, princess..." George drawled, kissing my bare shoulder gently.
I groaned, rolling over to face him and peered at his smiling face through my eyelashes. "Good morning, Georgie..."
"It is a good morning, isn't it?" He coughed, wrapping both his arms around me and pecking my lips gently.
"Mhm..." I paused, kissing his nose softly before my eyes traveled up to his now purple eye.
"How's your eye this morning? Do you need anything?" I asked, sitting up and gently touching the bruised skin with my thumb.
"Yer flashing me!" He shouted, laughing and quickly covering his eyes with his hands, peeking through his fingers.
"Pig..." I teased, flicking his ear before pulling the sheet up over myself. Chuckling, he rolled over pulling me back down into his chest.
"But 'm yer pig." He mumbled, burying his head into the crook of my neck, making me laugh.
"Yes, you are..." I whispered, messing with his silky hair.
"The others never came back."
"How lucky can we be." He quipped, glancing up at me as we laughed together. "Yer so cute when you laugh, and yer little nose crinkles up like that."
Blushing, I shook my head and curled up closer to him. His hand drifted up to mess with my slept on curls, as we laid huddled together in the tiny bunk.
"Well, well, well!" John shouted, as he flung the door open with such force that the knob left a dent in the wall, startling me as I clung onto George and he pulled the covers up above my shoulders.
"You finally worked up the balls to put ranch dressing in hidden valley with the little miss." John leered, walking over and climbing up the ladder to his bunk.
"How was the little lad, Miss Jacqueline?" John continued, leaning over the edge so that he could peer down at us.
"Leave 'er be, John." George snapped, continuing to play with the strands of my hair he had wrapped around his fingers.
"Does this mean you two are a thing again?"
"Yeah..." we both answered, blushing as our eyes met.
"Good, well I'll be going to sleep now, sorry I missed you gettin' it on this time, Geo." John quipped, rolling back over into his bunk.
"He's a real piece of work." I chuckled, smiling when George nodded and kissed my nose, sniffling a bit.
"Let's get up then."
"No, you should rest today."
"Why? 'M fine." He argued, squeezing my side before sitting up and pulling the blanket off the bed to wrap himself in.
"George, you've had a cold, also you were punched in the face last night." I reached out to grip his hand, while holding the sheet over myself with the other.
"Your cheeks are even flushed, let me see if you have a fever."
He chuckled lightly, sitting on the edge of the small bed and watching as I carefully felt his forehead.
"You're really warm, why don't you lay back down?"
"It's just a cold, I'll be fine." He whined, reaching up to hold onto my hand that was still resting on his forehead.
"George, you said it was just a cold a few days ago and you're still not better. At least rest until you've got to play tonight."
"You'll make me soup?" He asked, kissing the palm of my hand as he laid back down next to me.
"After I clean the kitchen."
He laughed, watching me reach for my clothes to pull on before getting up out of the bed.
"Do you have a headache?"
"Just a small one." He admitted sheepishly, looking at me with wide eyes as I quickly pulled my clothes on before getting him a few painkillers.
"Cuddle me?"
"You said you wanted soup." I giggled, combing his hair back with my fingers while I sat on the edge of the bed.
"You'll 'ave to go down to the store fer that though and since you've placed me on bed rest it doesn't look like you'll be going down there."
"Why can't I go?"
"I don't want you walking around alone out there..." he paused, pointing back towards the door with his thumb, "now c'mere."
He motioned, opening his arms and pulling me closer, kissing my forehead as his eyelids grew heavy and he blinked rapidly to keep them open.
"Why don't you take a nap?" I tittered, stretching an arm around his slim figure that I loved so.
"You promise you'll be 'ere when I wake up?" He yawned, shifting so he could gaze at me.
"I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else, my love." I murmured, butterflies erupting in my stomach when his crooked little grin danced it way across his lips, before he leaned down to press them to mine.

"Are you sure you can't take the night off to rest? You've been through a lot lately, and your eye is still -"
"I'll be fine, princess." George interrupted, grinning widely before taking my hand in his and running his thumb over the top of it before placing a gentle kiss on it.
I blushed, my eyes meeting his soft brown ones that I had so missed. He truly had the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen. Biting down on my lower lip I reached out with my free hand to pat the side of his face.
"Do you feel any better? It feels like your fever has gone down."
"I do, I feel much better." He rasped, leaning forward to plant a soft kiss on my forehead, tangling his fingers in my hair as his lips moved down to mine.
"Promise?" I mumbled, shivering when his rough hands connected with the skin of my exposed arms.
"Absolutely..."
Smiling, I pressed my lips to his sweet ones once more before we left for the club joined at the hip once more.
"Why don't you stay back 'ere tonight instead of going out to the bar." George motioned to the chair I had been sentenced to earlier in the week.
"Will it please you?"
"Almost anything you do does." He murmured, rubbing his nose against mine before kissing my cheek.
"Lovebirds are back at it again I see." John quipped, popping his head through the curtain that hid the backstage area.
"Just don't get 'ere pregnant, and yer bound to have loads of fun."
"Shut the fuck up." George spoke, chuckling as he did so before sitting down on the chair and patting his knee for me to sit on.
"Look you two..." John paused, sitting down on the table in front of us before continuing, his mood somewhat serious which surprised me a bit.
"I talked to Paul for you guys, I explained to him the plan Jackie and I made and -"
"What plan?" George interrupted, snaking his arm around my waist.
"I'll tell you later, anyway Paul is a bit upset but tonight I promised to help him find a bird so he'll be ok after tomorrow, jus' don't go straight home." John finished, winking at me quickly before going back towards the bar.
"Looks like we may be staying 'ere tonight, princess." George whispered, his chest vibrating from laughter.
"As long as I'm with you, it's ok."
"Mm..." he hummed, holding me closer before pressing his lips to mine.
