Chapter 24
August 3rd, 1960
6:17 p.m.
"C'mon, lovey! Last stop of the day I promise." George exclaimed, tugging me along beside him.
We had spent nearly half the day at the Paris zoo in order to kill time for George's surprise. After hours and hours of walking around though, my feet were killing me.
I giggled shaking it off, as we approached what appeared to be a small dock with a couple of row boats tethered to it.
"Georgie, what-"
"Shh..." he grinned, squeezing my hand lightly as we walked down the dock ramp and up to a small building attached to the left side of the dock.
I smiled feeling giddy, watching him raise a hand to lightly tap on the window of the small booth we stood in front of.
"Hello, would you like to rent a boat?" The old man with a crispy looking combover who slid the window open asked.
"Yes please, sir."
The old man chuckled lightly, before pointing back and forth between George and I.
"Pretty girl, you've got yourself."
"She is gorgeous innit she?" George winked at me, reaching into his pocket to fish his wallet out and pay the old gentleman.
"You kids enjoy yourselves!"
We nodded, walking towards the boats hand in hand.
"'Ere let me 'elp you..." George whispered, climbing into the boat and reaching out for both my hands to help me get in.
"Thanks..."
"Absolutely, my sweet love." He pecked my cheek, turning to untie the boat from the dock.
I giggled sitting down on one side of the boat as I watched him struggle to untie the knotted rope.
"Do you need help, Georgie?"
"No, I've got it, it's just..." he paused tugging quickly on the rope, nearly loosing his footing when the knot came loose.
His cheeks flushed, as he stumbled back slightly before sitting down across from me.
"Must've been one hell of a knot..." I teased, laughing when his cheeks tinted red again.
"Nothing I couldn't get around though!" He winked, chuckling as he picked up the oars to begin rowing the boat.
Watching the ripples the oars made as they dipped up and down in the water I smiled, excited about the future events George had planned.
I glanced up at George, who was concentrating on rowing at a steady pace with his eyebrows knit together. He lifted his eyes from one side of the boat and gazed over at me.
His lips curled up into a smile exposing his fangs, winking before darting his tongue out at me playfully.
I blushed, my eyes flickering back down to the water that was growing darker along with the sky.
"You look bloody gorgeous, I don't remember if 've told you today or not..." he spoke, nudging my foot playfully.
"You're too sweet..." I replied, glancing at the small rose gold bangle around my wrist. I felt my cheeks tint red as I twisted it around with my fingers, butterflies exploding in my stomach remebering a few nights ago when George gave it to me.
"Do you still 'ave the jacket I gave you?"
"Of course!"
He grinned widely, watching me scoot forward on the small seat I was perched on.
"I'll never get rid of it..." I whispered, as he leaned forward, eyes flickering to my lips.
"Ever been kissed on a boat before, princess?"
"N-no...do the honors of being my first?"
"Gladly..." he mumbled, pressing his lips onto mine as my breath caught in my throat, his hand traveling to the side of my neck.
"Promise you won't get rid of me jacket?" He whispered, gently tugging on my bottom lip as he pulled away.
"Absolutely, stud muffin..."
He blushed, pecking my cheek lightly before leaning back and continuing to row the boat.
"Where are we going, Georgie?"
"To that island over there..." he smirked pointing to a small island with a kiosk overlooking the water.
"The temple of love, huh?" I smirked, scrunching up my nose as I glanced over my shoulder at him.
He nodded, winking and rowing closer to the tiny dock to tie the boat up.
"I'll 'elp you get out, darling...just let me tie the boat up."
I smirked, leaning forward to watch his long nimble fingers tie the rope to a post on the dock.
"Y'know what this knot is called?" He blinked, glancing over at me as he tugged on the rope one last time to make sure his knot was tight.
"Clove hitch..."
I laughed watching his eyes widen in surprise and his mouth pop open.
"How'd you know?"
"Lucky guess..." I mumbled, leaning my forehead against his.
"Mm..." he breathed, leaning in the rest of the way to connect our lips in a gentle smooch.
"Let's go..." He smiled, climbing out of the boat and then offering me his hands to help me climb out.
"I wanted to bring you 'ere this late to watch the sunset with you." He explained, lacing his arm around my waist as we walked up the dock and through the small park to the white kiosk.
"It's beautiful..."
"I thought you'd like it..." he whispered, kissing my ear lightly as we climbed up the steps.
"C'mere, lovey..." He motioned, holding his arms open and leaning against on of the pillars that looked out over the water.
I snickered, leaning into his warm chest and lacing my arms around his torso as his wrapped around my waist.
We stood in serenity watching the sky change into various shades of pinks, reds, and oranges tinting the color of the water, while holding each other tightly.
"I-I love you, Jacqueline..." he spoke quietly, planting kisses from my ear down to my neck.
"I love you too, Georgie..." I halfway moaned, as he sunk his teeth into the tender flesh of my neck. He pulled away quickly, looking down at me with wide eyes.
"D-did I hurt you?"
"No..." I chuckled, standing on my tiptoes pecking his cheek as he breathed a sigh of relief.
"Were you trying to hurt me?" I teased, raising an eyebrow as he shook his head quickly.
"No..."
"I was teasing..." I mumbled, placing my lips onto his. He hummed, moving his hand up to cup the side of my face as his soft lips moved in sync with mine.
The sound of his hum, sending shivers up my spine. I gripped onto his T-shirt, craving his warmth, leaning my forehead against his.
"Want to go check out the little grotto under this place?"
I nodded, walking like we were joined at the hip until we reached a set of narrow stairs that were rocky.
"Are you sure we can go down here?"
George nodded, pulling me behind him as we continued down the steps into the dark little cave. Squealing a bit, I leaned into George closer when I heard the flapping of wings.
He laughed, snaking an arm around my waist.
"It's alright, baby..." He soothed, tugging me along to a small opening in the cave where we could look out at the now dark sky that was speckled with gleaming stars.
"Beautiful innit?"
I nodded sighing contentedly, as we hugged each other and gazed out at the night sky.

6:12 a.m.
I groaned slightly, reaching out for George as he rolled over to answer the ringing phone.
"'Ello?" He croaked, his voice still laced with sleep.
"John? What'd you want? It's only six o'clock..." he complained, rubbing his eye with his fist before reaching over to play with my hair.
"Is it John?" I whispered, scooting closer to him in order to rest my head on his chest. He nodded, smirking when I wrapped an arm around him.
"Today? Tomorrow's our last day before we go home we can go to the cinema anytime at home, I wanted to take Jackie to-" he huffed, rolling his eyes as John's voice grew louder on the other end of the phone.
"I'd 'ave to ask 'er John, I don't know." He explained irritably, gently running his fingers through my now slept on curls.
"Would you like to go to the pictures with John and Paul today, my sweet?"
I giggled slightly at George's annoyance, blushing under his gaze.
"What's playing?" I asked, looking down at my hand as I began tracing patterns on his skin, goosebumps rising on his skin where my fingers touched.
"What're you wanting to see?" George asked, grabbing the hand I was using to trace patterns on his chest with and kissing the knuckles.
"Paul chose North by Northwest because he knows you like Cary Grant..." George repeated, wiggling his eyebrows at me.
"Hm...Will John be buying soda and popcorn for us?" I quipped, causing George to laugh quietly.
"She wants to know if you'll be providing refreshments."
I smirked, placing a trail of kisses from his shoulder to his neck making him shudder. He looked down at me shaking his head slightly, as he listened to John blabber on.
"Ok, we'll be ready just send Paul up when yer 'ere." He huffed, hanging up the phone and wrapping his other arm around me.
"We're supposed to be ready by 8:30 fer breakfast and then we'll go to the film, we'll probably be stuck with 'em all day...." He explained pecking my eyebrow lightly.
"I better get ready then..." I mumbled, squirming out of his grip.
"I wanted to take you to the Arc, and the Louvre today..." George whined, pulling on my elbow.
"We can still go if you want..."
"How?" He quirked an eyebrow, his eyes sparkling down at me with intrigue.
"We'll just tell them we have stuff to do." I shrugged attempting to stand up again.
"Jackie, we 'ave to invite 'em now..."
"Then I guess we'll have to invite them." I laughed, pecking his cheek.
"But-"
"George, it'll be ok...it'll be just you and me again tomorrow, hm?"
He nodded smiling widely, and softly rubbing his nose against mine.
"Now, let me go get ready..." I snickered, pushing on his chest.
"Hey! Is that my shirt?"
"Yeah..." I blushed, pausing as I looked down at the plain black T-shirt I had slept in.
"Mm, looks nice on you...I think you should keep it." He winked stretching, before laying back down and closing his eyes.

7:23 a.m.
"George, are you up?" I yelled softly, peaking my head around the bathroom door frame.
I snickered, watching his stomach rise and fall with each breath he took. "Georgie..." I sank down onto my knees next to the bed watching him sleep. I grinned, leaning down to kiss his eyelids.
"Mhm..." he hummed sleepily, flicking his heavy eyelids open.
"You've gotta get up, Paul and John are gonna be here soon..." I mumbled, sitting down on the edge of the bed.
"I don't wanna..." he whined, motioning for me to lay down with him.
"Not right now..." I giggled, tapping his nose lightly smirking as he glared and scrunched his nose up under my finger.
"Yer mean..."
"Why?"
"You won't cuddle me."
"I will later, now go get cleaned up." I laughed watching him sit up, the sheets pooling around his slender build.
"Promise you'll cuddle with me later?"
"Do I ever not?"
"Yeah, you just said no-"
"George! I absolutely promise you I'll cuddle with you later, ok?"
He nodded, smirking as he crawled out of the bed and sauntered into the bathroom. I sighed, scooting down to the edge of the bed to watch tv before the phone started to ring.
"Hello?"
"Jackie?"
"Paul? Is everything alright?"
"Yeah, yeah! I mean I was hoping you'd be the one that answered, I mean I feel like I 'aven't heard yer sweet voice in at least a couple days."
"Oh...is there um, is there something you needed? George is in the shower right now, but-"
"No! You're the one I wanted to talk too, don't bother with 'im." He interrupted, causing me to raise an eyebrow.
"Jacqueline?" George bellowed from the bathroom, causing my head to snap up.
"Yes, Georgie?"
"Can you hand me a towel through the door off the table out there? There's none left in 'ere."
"Alright, give me a second!" I yelled back, as Paul huffed into the phone obviously somewhat annoyed.
"Look Paul, I've got to go George needs a towel. Can we talk later?"
"I just wanted to know if you and I could grab dinner tonight..."
I blinked roughly biting down on my bottom lip, "George wouldn't like that, now I've gotta go, Paul." I spoke quickly, hanging up before he had a chance to respond.
Grabbing a towel and knocking on the bathroom door, "George? I've got your towel."
He chuckled, cracking the door slightly and shoving his arm out through the small opening.
"Thanks, darling..."
"No problem..." I laughed blushing, before turning to go sit back down on the end of the bed. I glanced back over towards the bathroom when I heard the door hinges creak.
"What time is it?"
"Seven forty five."
He nodded, beginning to fix his hair into its normal style. I smiled, kicking my legs up onto the bed, rolling over onto my stomach.
I closed my eyes, halfway dozing off as I stretched my arms out to rest my chin on. I opened my eyes hearing a knocking sound.
"I'll get it..." I smiled, looking at George who was busy pulling a shirt on over his head on my way to the door.
Standing on my tiptoes I peered out the peephole in the door, letting out a nervous sigh when I saw it was Paul.
"George, Paul's here..." I yelled pulling the door open, avoiding making eye contact with Paul as he smiled, stepping into the room.
"The least you could do is give me a smile..." he whispered, reaching out to place his hand on my shoulder.
"If yer not gonna smile at least look at me, darling..."
Glancing up at him quickly, I shot him a shy smile.
"Can I kiss yer cheek?" He spoke softly, stretching his arm out to rest his hand on the wall above me.
"No..."
He bit his lip, nodding with downcast eyes as he pushed himself off the wall and followed me into the main part of the room.
"Ello, George..." he greeted smiling sadly, watching George peck my lips lightly.
"Good morning, Paul!" George greeted smiling widely, as George walked over to give him a hug.
I giggled slightly at the awkward exchange, watching Paul lightly pat his George's shoulder.
"Ready to go?" George asked looking between Paul and I.
I nodded along with Paul as we all started moving towards the door, George throwing his arm around my shoulders as we all sauntered down to the car in silence.
