Survival Guide: Dustman's Crypt (Miiiiine)
Here's how I survived Dustman's Crypt (well, will survive, since I've got some tactics up my sleeves, now).
Seems like the gods or with me (my dragooons, love you so much!). I have a fire atronarch (scroll), a scroll of madness, a bottle of skooma, my healing abilities, and a nice desk behind me. Not to mention, out of nowhere I have this Potion of the Defender and Warrior that I've been saving and a Draught of Health that I won't use unless up against a very powerful dragon. Because I don't know if dragons neccessarily leave you alone, even after you die. My autosaves have just been getting me lucky...oh, no. The dragons I recorded in here dying, died. But...there's Paarthurnax. You'll learn about him, later. :) There's some (day)dreaming coming up, so please be warned if you don't like daydreams, but it'll be a funny one, for Desraim. Off-track! Okay. How I have survived Dustman's Crypt (not Cairn. Look, it was hard to survive that area, as well, however I totally used up my other health potions and used my dead army spell, and so that's how this happened to work out for me so far, lol. Not to mention Farkhas wasn't paralyzed somewhere as he is now. Ooh, you guys have a lot to learn about where I'm at right now :D).
So the Crypt has a tunnel that leads to another tunnel that leads to a room and this room is where I got chased to. This room was after another room. As you can see...I ran. But now that I'm in this one room, I have nowhere to run. Maybe there's some stairs, but in the heat of battle, I'm not necessarily looking for them, or for any four bandits to be chasing me up stairs. So, let me continue, that case rested.
This room has two desks in the back. Use one. Or the land-er-concrete-mound towards the back, but they can get up there, so just use the desk. You can still get hit but may have the advantage of seeing them around you in a semi-circle in front of you and not behind or encircling you.
Okay, rule #2, use a weapon that's not a bow. I don't care if you pull out a pickaxe for goodness' sake (please don't, haha. That's some low damage those things deal). Unless you're a master archer that can down foes miraculously, go with a two handed, or at least a one-handed.
#3 Use healing magic. If you have it, use a one-handed weapon like a mace or sword (not a great sword, just a sword) and hack those meanies to pieces! While you're on the desk, of course.
#4 Remember that triangle is jump for PS3's version of the game.
#5 Use potions. Poisons (not on yourself, dummy). Anything that will give you the advantage (and scrolls!).
#5 Okay, I know I said use weapons but if you're like the awesomest firebender and you think you can dual-wield some fire, go at it. Because I saw this dude do it on YouTube (Brickwallsgames, the guy's video is up there if you wanna watch) and it was cool (and yeah, he leveled up to do it...sorry). And you won't be able to block or heal while doing it, but it's cool.
#6 Have different saves. One of the best save areas is the one right when the random bandit comes out of a coffin and attacks you, yes, that hallway, an technically the first part of the Crypt. He'll keep doing it if you don't save directly after Farkhas downs him (don't wast your breath on him) however, once you do, and if you killed everyone before this point, you won't have anyone barging in on you to try and murder you, and you can collect your thoughts in this cool, dank place.
This is also the place whether you choose to run and hide or not, because that's the very moment where after I went out, it was a point of no return (of course there's save, but I'm just saying. You go back to the nice part but once you leave, it's hectic out there). And that's where I paralyzed everyone and ran, and said bye to Farkhas. It was terrible. I thought he'd get up and follow me but he still hasn't. Maybe...he's on his way, and I just need to stay alive a little longer? - Don't count on it. Skyrim's a little glitchy at times, and if you noticed my remark about Uthgerd not following me up mountains, that's why. Sometimes your followers go crazy, and that's okay. That's why they aren't the Dragonborn.
And danggit. Did I just use my scroll of mass paralysis on everybody? :( I'm hoping that was reusable.
#7 If your level bar is full, maybe you should use it, and level up HEALTH. Yeah, that thing. Very Useful. And if everything else looks good in your inventory of stats, pleaaaase, level up your block. Mine isn't bad (22 is bad, isn't it?) but leveling it up helped me against attacks better (maybe even when I wasn't blocking, I think, but maybe it's because I leveled up me health. My brother prefers to qualify that statement, though...)
#8 Come back later. Literally. The people you killed will stay dead until 10 days later in Skyrim, so keep an eye on those Mundas' (I don't even know what that really means :D). But yeah, level up in the jungles for a while, though, but don't spend up all your ten days, or...doom...I think. Even once you get back to the dungeon before ten days, I don't know if they'll keep adding onto days. Like if you waited in the dungeon 10 days idk what effect that would have on the spawning...purple light...moanings and groanings, maybe...you know what I mean :D Hahaha, I love that resuscitation magic.
#9 And use it. Use your powers if you have any. Make sure you use it when most useful. And don't listen to those people who say the draugr are hard, in the very last area of the crypt. Thing is, they're draugr, and you have swords particularly for them to kill them more effectively. You have an edge on the draugr, but if you're like me, you've got nothing on them Silver Hands. And finally,
#10 Use alternate methods. Mix-em all up. Even at different times if necessary. Whatever gets you the edge at that time in the fight. And find something better for goodness' sake...that's what innovation is for!
Thanks, all. Be careful with them saves, I saved on my death once, and my autosave luckily had saved before...but anyway, I hoped this helped! And for any other battles, as well! Hit 'em when they're down and good luck!
[Update: I just found out silver swords are effective against the Silver Hand *drags hands across face*. Oh yeah. I was able to get at least one guy down at Novice Difficulty, so try lowering the difficulty. And on another trial, my potions (and or leveling) helped me kill one. So maybe this is my strategy: Jump on desk, take potions, summon atronarch, slash at the bandits with a Silver Sword and sing Hallelujah Chorus. And of course, level up. I should win. And then I'll be texting mwahs to you all! Have a great whatever day that you read this on.)
[Update: And of course you can wait 24 hours in an area in the cave (once you run, run for your life!) that no one will follow you into, in order for your power to be reusable again.]
