Chapter 7
Back on earth, there was a girl and guy trying to revive Luke and Sylvia. The girl has had a crush on Luke since 9th grade. She was in his Science class. Her name was Lucy. The guy trying to revive Sylvia was the policeman that drove her to the shelter and is starting to crush on her.
"What made you think of coming out here? How'd you know they'd be here?" Asked the young woman. The guy shrugged. He was about to do mouth to mouth on Sylvia, and then she woke up, sprung up, and ran over to Luke and started to revive him. The two newcomers stared in jealousy and surprise.
"Luke, come on, come on," Sylvia panted, pressing her hands on his chest, struggling to restart his silent heart.
Finally, he sat up, the sudden motion making his forehead collide with hers, causing them both great bursts of pain. Luke finally glanced at her with a smile. "We're alive, Sylvia."
"Right, well, you're going to need medical attention to those gashes before you do die," the policeman said before Sylvia even open her mouth to respond.
"Would you like a ride with me?" The young cop asked, smiling at Sylvia in a way that made Luke's heart twist in fear, anger, and jealousy.
"Yes, but Luke comes with." Sylvia negotiated with him. She sent him such a stern glare that he sighed and relented.
The other girl glared at her, hatred and passion burning in her eyes. Luke smirked at her jealousy and pointing to Sylvia, now sitting in his lap, eyes closed in exhaustion, mouthed "I choose her."
The girl rolled her eyes and walked away. Luke and Sylvia walked to the cop's car and sat together in the back seats.
They were just about to leave before a familiar, soft voice echoed in their heads. Turn around, you two.
"Life!" Sylvia whispered, smiling back at the white wolf gazing back at them from the open door of the shed.
Take care of yourselves. I better not see you for a long while. She winked a golden eye.
"Thank you," Luke thought, knowing by the telepathy that Life was using might work both ways.
You're welcome, Luke and Sylvia. Until we meet.
With that, the white-winged wolf turned but paused. She glanced back at them with a gentle smile before disappearing into the shadows. Luke drew Sylvia close and held her; the loss of a fast friend like Life hurting her deeply.
"It's gonna be okay, Sylv." He muttered. "We're safe."
