When starting a new job, it's usually best to look your best. That would, of course, mean not smelling, having clean clothes, and being fully there, ready to focus. Yeah... that wasn't the case for Malevola or Sonar (pic from last chapter). As the two slowly looked up at the SDN building, they saw the banner that read: "Welcome, Phoenixes!"

Malevola: *grumbles* First day of our new lives.

Sonar: *throws up a bird and then more puke on the bird* Huagh!!!!!!!!

It was pretty evident that the two had gotten shitfaced the previous night and just decided to show up on the opening day of the Phoenix Program. They both had their reasons for joining and just decided to celebrate early and show up now... well they were somewhat regretting their decision.

Thankfully (or not) someone decided to help them out.

SPLASH!

And by "help out", they meant by sending a massive amount of water and nearly drowning the two.

The duo could only get a chance to breathe before a massive gust of wind caught them and span them around like a mini cyclone.

WOOSH!!

When the two finally landed back on the ground they were a bit discombobulated but besides that... they actually felt better? As the two wondered how that was even possible, they quickly got their answer when they saw a guy in full body armor from head to toe with a cloak and a face mask. He had his hand out at them so with a quick assumption, they believed he was the one responsible.

Malevola: *pissed* Hey!

After what felt like being thrown in a washer and then a dryer, the 6'6.6-foot demon lady wasn't exactly with how her and her friend were treated. So that caused her to take the giant glowing sword from her back and aiming it at the hooded figure.

Legion: [voice of Tom Hardy] *puts his hands up* Whoa now! I'll admit I probably should have told you guys in ahead of advance, but then you probably would have denied the free wash and dry. I mean take a look! 

The figure then made a reflective barrier in front of Malevola that showed her reflection. Just as she was about to attack him, she stopped when she noticed that she looked way better than how she felt earlier in the morning.

Malevola: *impressed* Whoa...

Sonar: *still a little ticked* Yeah, "whoa" and all, but was putting us in a dam cyclone really necessary?

Legion: *shrugs* I mean it did get all the barf and beer stains form both of your clothes off. Not to mention the certain "powder" residue that was on you Batman.

Sonar: *rolls his eyes* Wow, "Batman", it's not like I haven't heard that one before.

Legion: Just trying to break the ice here man. I do apologize for the whole incident, but at least now my fellow coworkers look way more presentable.

Malevola: Wait coworkers? You mean you're also joining the Phoenix Program?

Legion: As of officially today, yeah. The name's Legion. *sticks his hand out*

Malevola: *smirks and puts her sword back and shakes his hand* Malevola.

Sonar: Well then Legion, I'm Sonar. You may have the distinct privilege of getting to work alongside me.

Legion: I take it you graduated from an Ivy League School?

Malevola: *mumbles* For fucks sake you had to ask that?

Sonar: *proud* As a matter of fact my dear Rouge, I happen to have graduated from Harvard.

Legion: *whistles* Impressive.

Sonar: *getting cocky* Yep, nothing a big shot like me couldn't handle.

Legion: And yet said "big shot" still somehow fucked up to get arrested and then later on join fellow "villains" and convicts here in the Phoenix Program, right?

That comment not only made Sonar sweat drop and frown but also made Malevola snort and try her best by covering her mouth with her hand.

Sonar: *grumbles* I mean you didn't have to put it like that.

Legion: *pats his shoulder* Hey man, it's all good. Whatever happened in your past was just that, your past. Now whatever you do is how you'll be seen and judged. As long as you guys show improvement and true signs of change, then you'll easily become some of the best heroes here in the business.

The two were actually taken aback from Legion's words of encouragement. They had only ever been looked at with looks of disgust, fear, or lust (Malevola more than Sonar). Ever since their powers emerged that had been their life. Yet here was someone they just met, and he didn't seem afraid of them.

Malevola: Do you actually mean that?

Legion: Of course I do.

With that little heartfelt moment, the three didn't want to be late so they all hurried on inside. When they went in, they noticed a lot of entrants who were also here for the Phoenix Program. Now how this worked was that they'd be going through testing that would last a few weeks. The reason for that was because it would test their Intellect, Vigor, Charisma, Mobility, and Combat.

While there may have been a lot to show up, they would soon be weeded out to only those that showed "promise". That was just the way SDN pronounced it, when they actually meant to see who could actually be redeemed from their past and become "true heroes".

As Y/N looked around from all the "potential candidates", he saw a few that for one reason or the other felt like they stood out the most.

He noticed that one of the candidates was a tall creature that looked to be made of mostly mud and yet had a few metal and rock parts sticking out of it.

He saw one candidate that looked (in his best description) .... very Flamboyant. Not to mention the fact that the guy was spurting flames from his fist.

He saw two candidates chatting it up like good friends. One was dressed like a deadly assassin with wings, the other stood approximately 3'3 feet and looked like a small brawler.

Another candidate was sitting down and simply listening to music. Yet what made them stand out to Y/N was the fact that they had on a light blue visor in front of their eyes and that their hair was dyed in two colors being pink and blue. What made it even more was that they looked like a well-known singer from L.A. who was also a villain.

While there were a lot more applicants, the program would last a few weeks for applicants to try out so whoever didn't show today still had some time to join. Yet that didn't really mean anything to Y/N (Legion). Today he would show everyone that would be watching what he was truly capable of.

Time Skip

A/N: Not going to write a full-on description of what took place (cause technically none of this ever happened) and for the fact it would be too long. Just imagine the Hero Tryouts from One Punch Man and that Y/N was basically Saitama (but was actually smart and not just athletic)

After a full day of testing applicants there was already a few that stood out with Legion being at the top of the list. With all the tests not only did he go above and beyond everyone's expectation, but his results also showed that he would be a well-rounded member er of the team.

A/N: This will be the stats that "Legion" starts in the beginning. Before anyone asks, yes, they will be able to improve with each SUCCESSFUL mission.

Blonde Blazer: Well Chase, what do you think?

Chase: *scoffs* I still think this whole program is just a waste of time. Besides Y/N, all the rest are nothing but lowlifes wasting their breath.

Blazer: *rolls her eyes* Oh come on Chase, the program barely started today, you haven't even given the others a chance.

Chase: Blazer you can keep all that optimistic bullshit to yourself. I saw how all those fucks acted before, after and during the tests, and I'm telling ya from personal experience almost NONE of them are worth even giving a flying fuck about.

Blazer: *raises an eyebrow* All except "Legion" right?

Chase: Tsc, I swear if that boy hadn't just decided to fuck his life away when he got his powers, he could be one of the best heroes out there today! He wouldn't need this bullshit program; he'd already be at the damn top right alongside-

Before Chase could keep going, Galen came rushing into Blonde Blazer's office looking frantic.

Galen: Boss! Sorry to interrupt but you need to come see this!

As Blazer and Chase left her office, they saw that all the Dispatchers had gathered around the tv. On it showed something that not only put shock on all of their faces, but to Chase especially, it made him almost use his powers.

Meanwhile

Back at the apartment, Y/N had just finished taking a shower.

Y/N: *sighs* Guess she's working overtime tonight.

A/N: From here on out his regular/normal voice will be voiced by Keanu Reeves. Thank you to all those that voted.

Ring! Ring!

As Y/N went to answer his phone, he saw that Chase was the one call.

Y/N: *answers* And hello "Black Father Time". To what do I owe this-

Chase: *cuts him off* Shut the hell up and just listen Y/N!

The moment Chase used his actual name, he knew something serious had happened. He was taken aback to whenever Chase had used his name, he knew better than to joke around.

A moment later and Y/N was back in his Legion gear and was quickly heading to a nearby hospital. From there he emerged from the shadows and found the hallway where Chase was. As he followed to where Chase was looking, he saw a man in a hospital bed with tubes coming out of him and a breathing mask on. What made this surprising to Y/N was the fact that he knew who this man was.

A/N: Just imagine the breathing mask is on with a few I.V.'s in his arms.

Legion: [voice of Johnny Depp] Is that really Robert?

Chase: Mhmm.

Legion: What happened?

Chase: From what I gathered, apparently, he finally found where Shroud was hiding out. Only for it to turn into a trap. He got ambushed and just as he almost got away somehow his suit exploded.

Legion: How long will he be like this?

Chase: The doc says a few days at best. But to the public a story is gonna go out saying that "Mecha Man" will be in a coma for a few months. That should give Robert some time to heal and decide what he's gonna do next.

Legion: Hm, well then that's that. *turns to leave for the stairwell*

Chase: *eyes widen in shock* Hol up what you mean "that's that"? You're best friend just got put into the hospital!

Legion: We're not exactly "Best Friends" anymore.

Chase: *grabs his arm* Hey! What the hell happened to you?

Legion: Excuse me?

Chase: Ever since you got powers you've been on some high road where you think you're all that, when you're not!

Legion: [voice of Hugo Weaving] Are you being serious right now?

Chase: Look kid I get that you might have had a "rough time", but-

Chase wasn't able to finish as a fist came zooming in to where it went through the wall behind him right by his face.

POW!

It didn't hit him and only missed by a few centimeters. Obviously, this surprised him, but it was even more when he saw that Y/N was the one to do it.

Legion: [voice of Christopher Judge] You do NOT get to say what I've done, Who I am, What I went through, or what I have become. You and HIM both left me behind after the loss of his father. My so-called best friend told me to my face to "just leave him alone". You would know since you were there that day.

As Legion spoke Chase could only remember with regret. Everything he had said so far was the truth.

Legion: You told me that you would talk to Rob and try to calm him down. After that day, that was the last time we talked. I tried reaching out to both of you, but I never got a single response. The moment you and I finally talked to each other was when I was brought in and given a tour of SDN. It's been YEARS since then Chase.

The old 39-year-old couldn't even look Y/N in the eye.

Legion: You know what's even more fucked up? Rob DID reach out to me, but it was only to ask for money for his suit, after a few times when I couldn't give anymore, he ghosted me again.

Chase: H-He was probably still-

Legion: *cuts him off* "Grieving"? I understand everyone grieves differently, but that still doesn't stop someone from simply asking "How are you?". He made his choices...and I made mine.

As Legion removed his fist, he sporadically fixed the wall. He then went to the door and opened it. Just as he was about to leave, he responded once more to Chase without even looking back.

Legion: I might not have been "perfect" or "heroic" like Rob was, but that was then and this is NOW. I'm trying Chase I truly am. If Rob and I cross paths again I'll try to talk to him, but if he doesn't want to then that's that. I'll take your word that he'll be ok. See you at work when I get the call.

With that he finally left. Back with Chase, the man couldn't even get a word in to defend himself, or try to reason with Y/N about why things went the way they did. All he could do was sigh. As he looked back at Robert, he vowed to make up for that mistake.

Chase: *to Robert* Kid, I might not know the full story, but I swear I'll make sure that you make up and get your friend back. Hell, he's the only one that would understand you better than me. 

As time would go on, no one knew that fate would come in where the two former friends WOULD meet again. And that meet might happen pretty soon.

A/N: And that's the end of this chapter. Before going, there are a few things that need to be discussed.

First off before anyone says that I forgot a certain member of the Z Team, let it be addressed that if you know the story of the game, then you know that I technically didn't.

Second, this chapter did in fact take place of Episode 1. of DISPATCH. At least the beginning part. The next few chapters will also take place around Episode 1.
