Chapter 28 - The Three Caballeros
A/N: I know the last chapter was kind of short, and not as long as compared to other chapters, so from now on, I'm going to try and make these chapters a bit longer. That means lots of more stuff will happen, but it might also take longer to update...
None of the less, please enjoy!
*******
Using Star Command's teleportation machine, I traveled back to my world, arriving back in the pre-show room of Muppet 3-D. I didn't need to know exactly how long I was gone for to realize how much trouble I could get into. My parents must be worried sick about me by now. I did not want a repeat of the summer of '07.
I made my way out of the building, looking around the crowds of people for any sign of my family. The show had to have been long over by now, so they had to be around here somewhere.
"Hey," A voice cried. "I think I see her!"
I whipped my head around towards the picnic tables, finding a big group of people waving at me. I recognized them! It was my family!
"Ava!"
"Guys!" I quickly ran over to them, Vince's mom giving me a bear hug once I drew near.
"Are you alright?!" She asked. "We were so worried about you!"
"I'm okay Auntie, really!" I answered with assurance, returning the embrace.
"I'll call your father," Vince's father spoke up as he stepped to the side, pulling out his cell phone from his pocket.
"What the heck happened to you?" Vincent asked me.
"Yeah, it was like you just, disappeared." Poppy added.
Oh boy, here we go. How the heck was I going to get myself out of this one?
I mean, what was I supposed to tell them? I got kidnapped by Agent Z and was about to get tortured to death until my new magical friends, who you had no idea that existed since we've been on this vacation, attempted to rescue me, only for me to get captured again by the empire, nearly forced chocked to death, only to be saved by my boyfriend who should be back home in Toronto, but instead was summoned by a magic mirror?!
Since Darth Vader almost killed me, I could say that a cast member dressed up as Darth Vader tried to choke me, but I got away? But then again, while the Disney characters do come from the World of Disney to this world, it can't be all the time, or else you'd hardly see any of them in their world. So if I were to blame it on Vader, an unlucky employee might get into a little too much trouble.
Either way, no matter what I would tell them, I was still in a heap of trouble. My mind was still wrapped around the whole "Santiago being a Disney Wizard" fiasco from just a few moments ago, when I finally spoke up.
"I was about to go in with you guys, but my phone went off," I began. "So I stepped to the side to see what it was, and Santiago... was texting me, asking me how the trip was going."
"Again?" Jam smirked.
I glared at the elder cousin with a huff before continuing. "I didn't want to be rude, so I quickly typed in a reply before turning it off. But as I turned around, the doors closed on me and I couldn't get it in! So at first I tried waiting it out, but that was taking too long, so I went back around through the entrance to try and meet up with you guys, but the space around here was PACKED!" I explained, occasionally glancing at their expressions to see if my story was believable. "I guess I got lost in the crowd as I was trying to meet up with you guys. I'm sorry I worried you all."
"You sure gave us quite the scare," spoke Vince's mother with a sigh. "But we're just glad you're alright."
"Okay," Vince's father came walking back to the group, hanging up his cell phone. "Let's get going, we're meeting the others at the center of the park."
Everyone huddled up, making their way through the thick crowds of guests as they left Muppet Theater and headed towards The Great Movie Ride.
"Wait, what's that on your neck?" Ty spoke up, pointing at me.
I raised my hand up to my neck, feeling the skin as I found a few rough patches. I froze, my eyes widening. It's the bruises from Darth Vader's force choke! They hadn't fully recovered yet!
"Did you punch yourself in the neck a few times?" Vince asked.
"What? Oh, geez," I gulped. "I... I think I got stun by a wasp or something."
"Well it must have been a big one, those look nasty!" Vince winced at the sight of them.
"If I don't mess around with them, I'm sure the swelling will go down," I assured him, placing a hand on his shoulder.
As we were walking through the park, my vision suddenly began to become hazy. At first I thought the sun was just in my eyes, the reflection from my glasses temporarily blind-siding me. When I rose my hand up to protect my eyes, my throat started to feel weird. It felt like the inside was bloating all of a sudden. My breathes became quick and harsh. I found myself feeling my neck with my hand as my chest slowly began to sting.
"Guys... W-Wait, a sec---" I coughed before falling to my knees.
Vince was the first to notice this as he cried out, catching the rest of the family's attention. I could feel my eye lids closing as Jam and Ty's dad helped me up to my feet, but I was in no condition to move.

"Santiago Toledo, we have our verdict."
Santiago, Ben, Sebastian, and Kaitlyn all stood before the Wizard council.
Their leader consisted of the all powerful Yensid, while sitting in the side aisle were Princess Belle, The Blue Fairy, Cheshire Cat, and The Three Good Fairies.
"Before we tell you how you plead, do you solemnly swear to accept whatever punishment is given to you?"
Santiago nodded in reply. "I do."
The Blue Fairy stood up from her seat, using her wand to summon a scroll in front of her as she read allowed. "Santiago Toledo of Canada, the Wizard Council has found you... to be guilty," She spoke slowly. "Charged with trespassing on Disney grounds."
While the Illusionist knew this was coming from a mile away, he couldn't help but feel a pain stalking stab in his heart. He truly missed coming to this place, and now it seemed like they were going to cast him right back out. Even after saving the love of his life.
"However," The Blue Fairy spoke again, catching the Wizards attention. "We've made some acceptations."
"Anything!" He spoke swiftly.
"Given what we have heard from the cases Sebastian and Benjamin have given us, we will allow you to temporarily stay here."
Hearing this news, the Attack and Defense Wizards silently cheered, high fiving one another.
"But only until the Dark Anomalies are defeated," She added. "After that, you must respect your verdict, and leave the Wizards."
"I... understand." Santiago reluctantly accepted.
After that, the Blue Fairy seemed quiet, like she didn't want to speak anymore. There was a look of remorse and guilt painted into her face as she glanced over at Yensid for what appeared to be a confirmation of sorts.
"Further more," Yensid spoke up, sighing. "We request that you keep your feelings towards Ms. Macht to the side, and focus on your mission."
Okay, before his heart felt like it got stabbed with a knife. But now, Santiago felt as if someone shot him through the heart. Multiple times.
Did... did he just heard what he thought he just heard?
*********
"I'm sorry you had to go through that with Ava..." spoke Ben.
The four Wizards were having a spot of coffee at Duke's Cafe in New Orleans, U.S.A at Epcot. Santiago seemed a little down when Avalyn stormed off after she finally discovered the truth. The truth that he was a Disney Wizard. Plus the fact that the Wizard Council is making him put his relationship with his girlfriend on hold until the Dark Anomalies are gone.
"It's okay, you don't need to apologize, Ben," Santiago replied, staring down at his reflection in his drink. "I already had a feeling something like this would happen."
"So, now that she knows you're a wizard," Kaitlyn began. "Does she know that you were the one who was banished so she could join?"
The Chilean didn't even think of it! His eyes widened at the thought as he shook his head, his brown eyes meeting Kaitlyn's ivy green. "I have no idea to be completely honest."
"Maybe you should tell her," Sebastian suggested. "Now that she knows half of the truth already."
"We need to tread this lightly, Seb," Ben cautioned, raising a steady finger. "Avalyn's emotions are already on the brink. Who know's how she'll react to that part of the story."
"So what do you suggest we do then?" Sebastian asked.
"Avalyn needs some time to register all of this," Santiago answered. "Time works differently here than in the real world. Let's give her some space, let her spend some time with her family first."
"And then what?" Kaitlyn raised a brow. "I'm guessing you have some sort of plan?"
"I might have an idea rattling in my brain." Santiago nodded.
"Then what are we waiting for?" Sebastian gulped down his drink, slamming the cup on the table before whipping his mouth with the sleeve of his jacket. "What do you want us to do?"
"You guys still got connections?" The Chilean asked.
Sebastian snorted, leaning back into his chair as he stretched his arms out. "Man, look around you! What kind of question is that?"
"Did you have someone in mind?" Kaitlyn questioned.
"Down at the Mexico Pavilion," Santiago answered with a grin. "There's a certain trio who might help us."
Ben's face lit up suddenly as he snapped his fingers. "I got it!" He whipped out his communicator, dialing some buttons. "I'll call them up right now."
"Great! Now, Kaitlyn," Santiago turned his head to face the ginger haired girl. "Once we're set, I want you to call up Avalyn and have her meet you at the Temple Restaurant."
"Sure, but why?" She asked, still seeming a little confused.
"I'll do what I've always done to help my Princess cheer up," Santiago smiled. "Make her laugh."
*******
I slowly opened my eyes to see a white ceiling. Panicking, I instantly sat up, gasping for as I did so. However since I got up, I felt my back crack and a quick wave of pain coursed through me, making me flinch.
"Ow..." I groaned quietly.
I looked around, discovering that I was back in my hotel room. I looked down at myself, discovering that I was a new change of clothes. I was now wearing a blue tank top with jean shorts and matching blue converse.
I was in bed, a warm towel wrapped around my neck and a glass of water stood on the bed side table. I reached over, taking a big gulp of the drink as a knock came to the door.
"Come in!"
The door opened, revealing my four cousins entering the room. They all didn't seem to look too worried about me. When it came to situations like this, they were normally pretty calm about it. But this time, it felt different.
"How are you feeling Ava?" Vince asked.
"I'm doing okay," I slowly smiled at the boy. "What happened?"
"You collapsed just before we were about to meet up with your parents, grandma, and grandpa. Security helped us get you to the First Aid building before bringing you back here," Poppy explained. "From what we heard it doesn't seem to be anything serious. Your parents are with the doctors right now."
"Apparently the swelling from your neck was making it harder for you to breathe since we were walking around so much." Jam added.
I chuckled nervously, about to raise my hand to rub my neck but stopped myself, worrying it might slow the healing process. "Ha ha... Um, sorry I kind of ruined your day everyone."
"It's okay," Poppy assured the girl. "It's not the first time you've gotten lost at Hollywood Studios."
I sent my Asian cousin a teasingly glare in her direction as the two of us quietly laughed it off.
"But we're glad to see that you're okay, and stuff," Ty spoke up as he stepped forward, showing me a plastic bag. "We got you a get well gift."
Curious I took the bag in my hand, pulling out the gift that was inside. It was the Sorcerer's Hat with Mickey's ears attached to the side. I smiled at it, recalling the adventure me, Ben, and Sebastian had in trying to get it back from Jafar. Not this knock off, but the real deal.
"Thanks you guys," I smiled, placing it on my head. "I love it."
Before we could continue, an all too familiar ringtone erupted across the room. Seeming confused, the cousins each checked their phones.
"It's not mine," Jam said.
"Me either," Poppy shook her head.
I pulled my iPhone from my pocket, only to see that it wasn't ringing. It wasn't even turned on to begin with.
The sound continued to repeat, and that's when I instantly recalled what it was. The others could sense my emotion, just by looking at the expression on my face.
"Ava?" Vince questioned.
Why now? Of all the times and places, why is it ringing now?!
There was no way I could get out of this!
Sighing in defeat, I reached down into my other pocket, pulling out the Kimunicator as I took a look at the screen, ignoring my cousins surprised stares. Of all of the Wizards, Kaitlyn was calling me.
"You never told me you had a Kimunicator," Poppy spoke. "Where did you get it?"
"I... didn't buy it," I reluctantly admitted. "I found it."
"What do you mean, found it?" Poppy repeated.
I ignored her question, pressing the answer button as Kaitlyn's face appeared on the screen.
"Kaitlyn? Can you call me back later?" I asked her. "Now isn't exactly a good time."
"Why is that?" She asked in reply.
"Who the heck is Kaitlyn?" Vince spoke up.
Immediately after that, the ginger haired girl's face cringed a little bit. "Oh, I see..."
"Ava, what's going on?" Ty spoke slowly, raising a brow at the girl.
"I'll explain later, I promise," I assured the boy as I focused back on Kaitlyn. "Can this please wait?"
She shook her head. "No, it can't. I want you to teleport and meet me at the Mexico Pavilion in Epcot."
"Epcot? Teleport?!" Jam repeated.
"Do I have to? Now?" I questioned.
"Please? It's really important," She begged.
"What does she mean by teleport?" Poppy questioned.
"Everyone, shut up for a second!" I yelped.
Silence filled the room as my cousins gave me strange looks. I looked back at the video screen, sighing. "Alright, just... give me a minute, okay?"
Kaitlyn nodded with a thumbs up. "Will do," She spoke before cutting the call.
I scotched over, getting up from my bed as my cousins watched my every move.
"Avalyn? What the heck is going on?" Poppy asked, placing her hands on her hips.
"Poppy, remember that one time we met up in the bathroom and you told me that you saw a blinding light?" I recalled.
"Um... yeah?" She answered, looking confused.
"Well... I lied. I did see the blinding light," I admitted. "Because that was me. I teleported from the World of Disney back to our world."
And that's when everyone in the room thought I was crazy.
"Say what again?" Jam raised a finger. "Am I going through heat stroke or something?"
"Just trust me on this. Look, I have to go somewhere," I explained, powering on the Kimunicator's teleport system. "But I'll be back, I promise. On my end it will feel like I've been gone for a few minutes, maybe hours, depending how long I stick around. But for you guys, it will feel like mere seconds."
"What will?" Poppy asked, raising her voice.
"This will," I answered, pushing the green button.
The blue force field expanded around me, and BAM! I felt the tugging sensation and within the blink of an eye, I was in the World of Disney. I instantly knew that when I returned to my hotel room, I had some serious explaining to do with my cousins.
But that's for another time. Right now, Kaitlyn said she wanted me to meet up with her, and apparently it was important.
********
I found my way to Epcot, entering the Mexico Pavilion as I looked around for the giant Temple. When my eyes cast upon it, I found Kaitlyn waiting for me at the front. She spotted me, waving at me with a wide smile on her face.
Curious, I made my way over towards her, waving back. "Hey Kaitlyn,"
"Hi Ava, sorry if I called at a bad time," she apologized. "But this couldn't wait."
"It's okay, you said it was something important?" I questioned.
"Important for you, to be exact," she corrected, taking my hand. "Come on!"
She led me inside the temple, revealing the spectacular restaurant inside. There was river the surrounded the area for boat rides, tables filled the middle section and at the end was a large stage. Kaitlyn guided me through the crowd as we took a table right up at the front row, Chicken's dressed as waiters coming to our service as they plopped down a large platter of nachos on our table.
"This is it?" I asked, raising a brow at the girl as my voice seemed a bit agitated. "You brought me over here for lunch?"
"Trust me on this," She pleaded, taking a nacho. "You'll thank us."
"Us?" I repeated with confusion.
Suddenly the lights dimmed as the audience began to cheer. Spotlights shined down on the stage as the curtains opened, revealing three male figures wearing matching sombreros as I began to eat the nachos.
"Give a round of applause for the Wizards cover of, The Three Caballeros!" The announcer cheered.
Right after I heard the W-word, I froze, dropping the nacho in my hand as the three figures stepped forward into the spotlight. Standing to the left of the stage was Sebastian, to the right was Ben, and standing in center stage, was Santiago.
"What is he up to?" I spoke quietly as the music began to play.
The three boys snapped their fingers to the beat as they began to dance, Santiago singing the lead.
"We're three caballeros
Three gay caballeros
They say we are birds of a feather,"
As I watched them, I quickly realized something. They weren't just doing their own moves, they were doing the exact some steps and dancing from the actual song!
The three boys glided to the right side of the stage, before marching back down to the center.
"We're happy amigos
No matter where he goes
The one, two, and three goes
We're always together!"
The three boys raised their hats in the air before erupting in chaos, shouting and cheering as they ran and jumped around the stage. They regrouped as the lights went black, their hats and clothes lighting up in the dark as they danced along to the beat.
"We're three happy chappies
With snappy serapes
You'll find us beneath our sombreros,"
Then the three of them ducked down as the lights came back on, their hats the only thing on stage as they randomly reappeared out of nowhere, salsa dancing around the hats.
Kaitlyn couldn't help but laugh at the site of the boys dancing like that, especially Sebastian. As I watched them, I couldn't help but fix my gaze over Santiago. Just what exactly was his game here?
"We're brave and we'll stay so
We're bright as a peso,
Who says so?"
Ben and Sebastian wrapped their arms around Santiago's shoulders as they shouted,
"WE SAY SO!"
Before the three of them sang together,
"The Three Caballeros!"
Santiago summoned a trombone with his magic, sending it off to Ben as the blonde played it along with the music. He then quickly tossed it to the side as he grouped with Santiago and Sebastian, as the three of them bent backwards, their hands reached out in the air. Santiago collapsed to the floor of the stage, but still kept his composure as he posed on the floor, his arm still reaching out as he committed to his role.
I couldn't help but chuckle at the sight, a small smile creeping up on my face.
"We have the stars to guide us,"
The three of them stood back up, the lights flashing back on Santiago summoned two guitars in front of Ben and Sebastian, but had trouble getting one to show up for him.
"Guitars here beside us,"
He snapped his fingers repeatedly, summoning various instruments until finally bringing fourth a guitar at the last second, playing along with his friends.
"To play as we go!
We sing and we samba,
We shout ¡Ay caramba!"
Sebastian looked over at the boy, a confused look on his face.
"What means: "¿Ay caramba?"
Santiago looked over at his friend, shrugging.
"Oh yes, I don't know!"
I couldn't help but laugh at that part. Then it suddenly hit me like a wrecking ball. I now knew why Kaitlyn had brought me here. Santiago wanted to cheer me up. He wanted to make me laugh.
Santiago used his magic to summon a rain cloud as water began to crash down on the trio, as they all huddled together.
"Through fair and stormy weather
We stand close together
Like books on a shelf!"
The cloud vanished as the boys were dried off from the rain, fist pumping and high fiving each other.
"And pals though we may be,"
Then Santiago focused his gaze on me...
"When some Latin baby,
Says yes, no, or maybe,"
He tipped his sombrero at me, winking as he whistled before all three boys cheered.
"Each man for himself!"
Then Sebastian and Ben took off to the side, joining the band as they played their instruments. Santiago summoned a puff of purple smoke in his hand. He chucked down at his feet, vanishing into a giant cloud before suddenly reappearing on our table.
It caught me completely by surprise as I huddled my knees up to my chest.
Santiago looked down at me, smiling with the famous "Disney Prince" grin as he began to sing again.
"Ahhhh! ¡Jalisco no te rajes!
Me sale del alma
Gritar con color,"
That's when I realized what he was doing as he jumped down from the table, taking my hand and slowly pulling me away from my chair towards the stage. He was... he was serenading me.
The audience cheered as the two of danced together as Santiago finished his verse.
"Abrir todo el pecho
Pa' echar este grito
¡Qué lindo es Jalisco!
Palabra--"
He spun me around, letting go of my hand as Ben and Santiago jumped back to his sides, flexing their arms out into the air.
"Deeeeeeee---"
Then they stepped back to the side as Santiago grabbed his sombrero and tore it off his head as he belted out the last note.
"Honooooooor!"
When the music faded, the crowd cheered the boys on, tossing confetti and flowers at the stage as they all took a bow. Me and Kaitlyn cheered them on as well as they each tossed their sombrero's into the crowd.
Santiago smiled at me again as he used his magic to summon a rose, giving it to me. I took it gently in my hands, smelling the aroma. He stepped closer towards me, caressing my cheek with his hand.
"I'm sorry I kept this from you," he apologize. "Can you ever forgive me?"
I looked around the crowd spotting our friends, hopefully looks on their faces as Kaitlyn squeezed Sebastian in a bear hug.
I chuckled, focusing back on my boyfriend with a nod. "Consider you pulled all of this off for me? Why not."
He laughed in reply as he pulled me closer, wrapping his arms around me. "Thank you, my Princess."
