My foot taps quietly on the floor. I'm barely paying attention to the teacher, and glance at the clock: ten more minutes.
She keeps talking, ignoring the fact that not many of the students in this class are still listening . In ten minutes it's summer break. No getting up early, and best of all, no homework.
"You will be reading this book over the summer." Mrs. Ladlien, our science teacher, holds up a book, and I scan the title: Real Radiation. Shouldn't be too bad... I glance at the clock again. Only five more minutes remain. "I would suggest you don't leave it until last minute." She smiles, and then glances at her watch. "That's all I have for you, so I'll let you out a few minutes early. Have a great summer."
Most of the kids were already standing by the time she finished speaking, grabbing their bags and heading straight for the door. I scoot out of my chair and sling my bag over my shoulder. Running a hand through my platinum blonde hair, I glance around the room again. Only one person is left, a boy with dirty blonde hair, and he looks like he's waiting to talk to Mrs. Ladlien.
"Bye," I say, giving her a small wave. She waves back before focusing on the boy waiting by her desk.
The school hallway is crowded, but I'm used to it by now and squeeze outside, heading directly to my car. I toss my school bag in the backseat and get out of the parking lot and onto the highway. Music blasts from my speakers as I pull into my parent's garage. I pause the music and hop out, darting inside, where I toss my school bag in my room. I'll clean it out some other time.
My mom isn't home yet from her teaching job, so I scribble a note explaining where I'm going, and get into the car again, pulling out of the garage. A couple of my friends agreed to meet at the mall, as an end-of-school celebration. I get out of the car as soon as I park at the mall, crossing the parking lot to the mall. I start walking to the store we planned on meeting at.
Everyone walks along at an easy pace, enjoying the summer feeling in the air. I run a hand through my hair, seeing the shop up ahead. I look down at my sneakers, anticipating the rest of the afternoon.
My phone buzzes, and I pull it out of my pocket, checking to see the notification. But when I look at the screen, I don't see anything new. I shrug, thinking nothing of it until I look up again.
Everyone around me is gone.
Hey everyone, welcome to Dimension Walker! I wrote this book back in 2017 and finally decided that I might as well publish it here. Updates should be regularly often!
