A Nobody's Beginning
Some people seek to do good by pulling others up. These are the best kind of people who build good in the world and march mankind onward.
But some people prefer to tear evil down.
These people can do good and can be great people but some miss the point. Some forget that others being wrong doesn't always make them right.
This is the story of one such person.
Isamu is that person. A young man in his early twenties. Today he heads to the digimarket to make a purchase which will change his life forever...
He thinks to himself, "So this is the digimarket where they sell Digimon. There must be one I can buy here. I need the strongest I can afford but... I don't have much. I'll have to choose carefully.
He looked around, seeing digimon in small cages, far too cramped to be comfortable, and judging by their stature, far outside his price range. He looked around, spotting three small cages in the back, containing a Tsunemon, Punimon, and Botamon. He assured them, as they cowered away, "Hey hey. Easy. I'm not gonna hurt ya."
A seller approached, "Oi, can I help ya?"
Isamu nodded, "Yes actually you can. How much for these three?"
"Three thousand yen," the man replied, "They're weaklings though, I was just gonna toss em."
"Best I can afford I'll take em," Isamu replied, handing off the yen and opening the cages.
The creatures rushed out and hid behind him, cowering away from the seller.
"If you need money," the seller sneered, "I have some quick work you can do."
"What kinda work?' Isamu asked, intrigued.
"I need a mule to transfer some Overclock to Kowloon One," the seller replied, "I'll pay you good for it. It's low risk but-"
"I'll pass," Isamu snapped back and began to leave. The digimon followed him.
He explained to the trio, "I don't know how smart you programs are but I'll say it anywho. My name is Isamu, I'm a twenty-three year old college drop out. I have no job and live off of odd jobs here in Eden. I have one other source of income and that's robbing hackers who don't deserve the money they have in the first place. Today we're doing one such job. Have you heard of Overclock?"
The Digimon don't reply.
Isamu sighs, "What am I doing? Talking to fucking code? Aight. Look. We are going to attack and steal from bad people. I don't have a Digimon Capture Program so if you wanna help me you'll have to do so of your own volition. Are you in or out?"
The Digimon step forward. Isamu sneers, "Good. Let's go. As that seller mentioned he's in Kowloon."
At the park in Kowloon, a hacker, hat covering his face, smiled at Isamu as he approached. "Hey buddy! You look like a new hacker!"
Isamu put on a fake smile, "Something like that. I heard you had something that could make my Digimon stronger?"
The hacker nodded, "That's right? It's called Overclock! Hottest and only digital drug on the market! First hit's free!"
The hacker handed Isamu a bag of blue powder, "One hit of this and they can a tale a Digimon thrice their size, it also gives a wicked high."
"So you sell the stuff?" Isamu asked.
"Yup!" The hacker replied.
"That's all you had to say," Isamu growled, "Jump him!"
"What the fu-" the hacker cried out as he sent out a Devilmon to defend himself.
Before Isamu and his allies could attack, the hacker gave his Digimon some Overclock. It cried out in pain, its health took a massive blow, but its powers in all areas grew.
"Shit," Isamu muttered.
He checked for any items he could use.
He had the Overclock...
Overclock: Digimon loses 50% of its Max HP. CAM decreases by 100. All stats up by 50%. May cause random status effects.
Once more, now Overclocked, the Devilmon charged, moving with inhuman speed, the ground shook beneath Isamu's feet. Isamu cried out, "Look out!"
But he was too late.
The rocks from the earth beneath him jutted out from the ground below, imapling hid Digimon and destroying them instantly.
"You fucking brat..." the hacker growled.
"Shit!" Isamu yelled.
"Seize his account!" The hacker yelled, "It'll make a fine scapegoat!"
"Stay back!" Isamu yelled.
"Now pardon me," a voice interrupted.
A boy with black hair approached. "Don't you think it's a bit too heartless to tear into a newbie so?"
"Yuggo?" The hacker demanded, "I was just-"
"Please allow me to handle this," Yuggo insisted.
The hacker stammered, "Y... Yes sir! I don't want any trouble!"
"He's getting away!" Isamu exclaimed and began to run after the hacker only to be blocked by Yuggo.
"You're an idiot aren't you?" Yuggo sighed.
"Pardon?" Isamu demanded.
"How do you plan to fight him without even a Digimon Capture Program?" Yuggo demanded.
"I..." Isamu sighed, "I... don't know."
Yuggo began to work his digital magic, "A word of advice newbie, high minded idealism will get you stomped into next week."
Yuggo elaborated as he ceased his virtual wizardry, "There now you should have the program."
"Well this isn't about idealism," Isamu explained.
"What is it about then?" Yuggo inquired.
Isamu sneered, "Vengeance."
"I see..." Yuggo fell into contemplation for a moment, "Say have you heard of Zaxon?"
"No," Isamu replied.
"Well, we're a hacker group, and you're going after him because of the Overclock right?" Yuggo inquired, "I'm not fond of it either. You could work with us. What do you say?"
"What's the catch?" Isamu demanded.
"We won't chase you if you leave," Yuggo assured, "If that's what you're asking."
Isamu thought for a moment. It would be better than working alone. Even if he knew nothing of Zaxon he could leave as easily as he entered.
He nodded, "I'm in."
Yuggo nodded, "Come to our forum when you get the chance. Here's the url."
Yuggo gave Isamu the url to the Zaxon forum.
"And be sure not to pick fights you can't win," Yuggo added.
Isamu nodded in understanding.
Yuggo stated, "Farewell." He then left.
"Well..." Isamu conceded, "Better head to that forum. We need to be stronger..."
He began to leave Kowloon only to run into a woman with short purple hair and glasses. She smiled at him and asked, "You've got quite the odd fate, don't you Isamu?..."
