Chapter 9
Meanwhile, DIO sat in his bedroom, his number one follower standing near him as they looked at a certain cowboy. "What is it, Hol Horse, can't you see I was in the middle of something?" The vampire sneered.
"Well, lord DIO, that team you told me to kill uh... They're close."
"So you failed me?" DIO asked, narrowing his eyes. "Erm, well, yeah, but I can still get them-"
"Don't bother, it's not like you could possibly be as powerful as my three most loyal servants." The vampire stated. Hol Horse gulped a little. "Three? I mean, I know Vanilla Ice and his pet bird, but who's the third one?" He thought, only to see a slender man with enter the room. He had hair covering his forehead, like it was hiding something. "Lord DIO... Does this man need to be escorted?"
"Yes, my darling Paura, his blood isn't pure enough for me to consume, just kick him out." The vampire stated as he kicked the gunslinger from his orgy house.
Paura looked outside as Hol Horse scrambled away, he had a strange feeling this wouldn't be the last they saw of him. "You should know that more sons of yours have been born, and your first born is outside with Pet Shop." He informed the vampire.
"Wonderful, even if I am gone, the legacy of I, DIO will live on." DIO purred. "So, they managed to defeat the stand users picked out by Enya, they still have yet to face my most loyal."
"There is something else, those brothers you hired have betrayed you. I saw them arriving as well. The Joestars must have convinced them to join their side. Shall I handle them?"
DIO simply chuckled. "Those two were useless to me, leave them to Pet Shop. I need you and Vanilla Ice at full strength when they arrive. Of course, there is just one other issue, you see this body of mine?"
DIO got up, around his was a visible scar, as if his head was grafted off at one point. "A hundred years ago, I was reduced to a head by my adoptive brother, Jonathan Joestar. As vengeance, I decapitated him and took his body as my own. But it's still incompatible. It was a miracle that little Giorno inherited my vampirism. All I need is the blood of one more person."
"One more person?"
"Lord DIO means that he either needs His grandson's or his great great grandson's blood." Vanilla Ice responded on behalf of DIO. "Exactly, good job Vanilla you get to be implanted with my seed again." The vampire purred as he seductively looked at his number one whore.
Paura, not really wanting to see that, deciding to prepare for when the crusaders come.
Meanwhile, Hol Horse was outside of the building. "That egotistical asshole, I'll show him, I don't need his work anyway." He thought summoning the emperor. "I may not be able to kill DIO but I can kill that stupid ass bird of his-"
"Hol Horse?"
The gunslinger flinched before turning around. "Ah- Oh, Oingo, Boingo, what are y'all doin here?" He asked the brothers. "You didn't read my mind, right? I mean if you did, uh, don't tell DIO."
"Oh, uh, we don't work with him anymore. It's a complicated situation but, yeah..." Oingo said. "Thoth said that we needed to come here. Apparently, we're going to help the group, somehow."
"Guess that makes the three of us a gang of traitors huh? Ironic since I called Polnareff that when I faced him." Hol Horse joked. "DIO's just in there, probably boning the hell out of Vanilla Ice again. Pet Shop's guarding the entrance to his mansion with that half vampire baby of his."
The falcon simply stood on the gate as it watched for any intruders, it's stand was known as Horus, being able to create ice out of nothing to freeze its victims or impale them with giant icicles. Its attention was then drawn to a certain dog getting close. "Hey, that's Mr. Joestar's dog. They must be here." Boingo pointed out, that was when the next page emerged.
"The Boston Terrier had a tough stand, but the falcon would fight until its death. With the falcon distracted, the brothers and their new friend could sneak the Joestar group inside." Boingo read. "Do we have to split up?"
Hol Horse kept The Emperor held out. "You two go find them, that mutt will need a little assistance." He ordered. With Pet Shop focused on freezing Iggy, Hol Horse landed a shot at one of its talons before it could slash the dog. "Never thought I'd be fighting side by side with the men I was once ordered to kill. Guess there's some things even a comic can't predict."
The cowboy kept firing shots at the falcon, distracting Pet Shop from attacking Iggy more. However, the fight was swiftly over with only thirty bullets when a bullet hit the bird in it's chest, killing it instantly. "Hah, never miss my shot." Hol Horse stated confidently.
Meanwhile, The Oingo Boingo brothers were looking for the rest of the Joestar group. "It can't be that hard to find them, right?"
And right he was, bumping directly into Polnareff. "Hey watch it- Oh it's you guys." The Frenchman stated as he looked at the brothers. "Yep, anyway we're here to help... Somehow, we aren't really sure, Thoth hasn't gotten that far yet." The older brother explained.
"I see... Uh, hate to be rude but how exactly are you going to help? Thinking about it, your stands aren't that good in combat." Jotaro commented. That was before a new prediction appeared in Thoth. However, it wasn't a prediction Boingo liked.
"Hey Lil bro, what does prediction say?" Oingo ask, noticing his brother change in body language.
"Uh, it says uh.... I'll explain on the way." The child stammered. He kept Thoth held against his chest as the group met back up with Iggy, standing proudly over the body of Pet Shop. "It says all of us will meet with a stand user that can bring out your worst fear, and another that can erase anything with a single swipe. And umm..."
The latest page of the comic was still fresh in his mind, he knew not everyone would make it out alright, but he didn't want it to be true. After all, Thoth was unable to predict the team not getting their poisoned tea, perhaps the predictions would be wrong? But he didn't want the team to find out, especially not his big bro. "Should we split up?"
The mansion was enormous, and there was no telling which room DIO remained in, let alone his cronies. From the shadows, a long-haired figure watched. Immediately he pulled out a pair of black gloves with bright green binary code imprinted on it. As the now larger team split into three groups, with Joseph, Jotaro and Kakyoin approaching the room the figure was in.
"Damn, should have packed a flashlight before going in." The old man joked, only to yelp once his arm was grabbed by the figure. "Gah! What the hell was that?!"
Immediately one of the gloves shifted itself, turning into an exact copy of Joseph. "You've lost your touch, old man." The copy snarled.
"OH MY GOD! That thing, it's an exact copy of me!" Joseph exclaimed, summoning Hermit purple. "Yeah, obviously. What idiot wouldn't understand that I'm a copy?" The copy asked before getting wrapped up. "I mean yeah but, y'know at least if you're going to be a copy of me, you could at least be hot." The real Joseph joked
"Oh yeah, but the only hot person you ever knew was Caeser." The clone stated. The old man paused for a bit, hearing that name was odd. "Who's Caeser?" Kakyoin asked.
"Caeser was this really hot Italian guy Ol Joseph could have been with if he protected him instead of letting him run into that church or whatever-""It's not like that!" Joseph shouted, tightening his grasp on the clone of himself. "You know it is..."
"Guess this could be what Boingo meant by a stand user showing your worst fear. I guess that just means your worst traits, probably my gramps' fear is his guilt, or something." Jotaro commented before being grabbed himself.
The old man was struggling to keep himself composed as the copy broke out, pinning Joseph to the wall. "If you were better at using Hamon, Caesar would still be alive!" The clone cackled, watching as the real Joseph's usually confident demeanor fade. He dropped to his knees, overwhelmed with guilt.
"Mr. Joestar, you have to get it together, that thing is toying with you!" Kakyoin immediately summoned Hierophant Green, only to be punched down by Jotaro, or at least an exact copy of him in appearance.
"Since when did you ever care about other people?" The copy snarled, glaring directly at Jotaro. "All you ever did was push them away, even your own mother."
The ravenette took a step back only to summon Star Platinum, he couldn't let this copy get to him. "No, you're not who I am." He said, wincing.
"Aren't I? You know deep down you could end up all alone, like when you ended up in that jail cell?" The cop's words cut deep, landing a punch right in Jotaro's face. "Why even bother trying to bond? You're just going to ditch Kakyoin once you're tired of him."
"I... I won't. I-"
"You what? Love him? I'm surprised you even know what that word means."
Jotaro attempted to fight the clone only to be stopped by. "You're nothing more than a retard, just like that Dan of Steel guy said. Or was it Steely Dan? Who care." The copy stated, making Jotaro duck his head. "Honestly it's pathetic, guess that's why you keep pushing people away, so they don't get disappointed at what a dumbass you are deep down. Hell, a baby was able to awaken his stand before you did, and all you know if facts about dolphins." The clone sneered as he started to punch the real Jotaro.
Kakyoin, getting up after a bit, looked at the clone and summoned Hierophant Green again, hearing all of the things Clone Jotaro was saying. "I guess that's just his asshole side?" Kakyoin though as he was about to send an emerald splash towards Clone Jotaro, when he heard the following.
"Kakyoin wanted you to change for him to even like you. You think he actually loves you? Or just this changed version of you. I'm shocked those schoolgirls were even into someone like you." Clonetaro said as he punched more.
Before another punch could land on him, Hierophant Green let out an emerald splash, killing the clone and returning it to its glove form. "Jotaro." Kakyoin stated, rushing to his side.
The other teen didn't respond, he was biting back tears after everything he heard. It was shocking, Kakyoin never heard him cry before. "That thing is gone now, what it said isn't true in the slightest." The redhead pulled him into a hug, rubbing his back.
Seeing his grandson in this state managed to snap Joseph out of it, he used his stand to suffocate the clone until it was reduced back to the other glove. "Jotaro? Are you uh, crying?" He asked, slowly approaching the distraught ravenette.
Jotaro was completely nonverbal as his meltdown continued; tears kept falling as he tugged at his jacket. He could barely utter out a single word, would Kakyoin really not like him if he was his old self?
"Jojo, did Steely Dan really call you that?" The redhead asked.
He continued sniffling but managed to nod. "He's got some nerve, if I knew I would have sent an emerald splash right into his mouth until he burst." Kakyoin hissed. His face softened after seeing his boyfriend in his broken state. "Hey... hey. We're here for you."
Jotaro struggled to reply, he weakly slapped against Kakyoin's chest in his state. "I promise to stick by you, that carbon copy doesn't know a thing about me." He assured the ravenette. "We're not going anywhere."
Joseph watched as the two teens curled up together, taking a seat from all the guilt he had to endure. "That asshole has some nerve to do this to you." He added.
Once Jotaro finished having his nonverbal meltdown, he looked at Kakyoin. "I'm sorry you had to see that..." He stated softly. "Jotaro, it's okay." Kakyoin assured him before giving a kiss on his forehead.
"Is... Is he still here? Cause if he is, I wouldn't mind giving him some payback for hitting me." The ravenette teen stated before standing up. "I think so, it's kinda dark in he-" Joseph started before Jotaro punched a hole in one of the walls with Star Platinum, letting in some light form the outside.
And Paura was still there, not burning up in the light. "So, he isn't a vampire, guess he isn't DIO's favorite or something." Joseph joked before summoning Hermit Purple. The long-haired stand user made a daring rescue of his stand before managing to parkour off the walls and escaping. "Hey!" The old man exclaimed, about to chase him but he's stopped.
"There's no use in chasing him, even if I want to pummel him for what he did. Especially when we have more important things to deal with." Jotaro commented.
"Right, that's one stand user down. The other supposedly erases literal space between people, it might be able to erase people too." The three wandered through the large mansion, searching for their friends. Jotaro was now on edge, he knew this would be their biggest challenge yet, but even he had no idea just how powerful DIO's final henchman would be.
Vanilla Ice saw as the brothers, alongside Avdol with Josuke in his carrier, Polnareff and Iggy wandered the mansion. Hol Horse would have followed them, but he ended up lost trying to keep up with the group. The next page was coming through, even more jarring than the last. "The team all united, but it was to end in tragedy. Avdol lost his arms, and the dog was to be cut in half. Kakyoin would have a hole in the middle of his stomach, unless..." that was where the page ended.
"Those traitors! Oh well, that just means my lord DIO will have plenty of victims to choose from to regain his strength." Ice thought, summoning his stand to attack. "He will gladly repay me once I am rid of these nuisances."
As soon as he lunged for the kill, Avdol summoned Magician's Red and sent a stream of fire his way. "So, you must be DIO's personal guard, a vampire just like him."
"Wrrry!! You know me well; I am the most loyal and the most devout to his cause. But enough talk, it's time you all died!"
Silver Chariot and The Fool were summoned next, ready to slice the vampire apart. Josuke summoned his Crazy Diamond as well if they needed any healing.
"I see that baby is a stand user as well." Vanilla Ice stated. "Perhaps he would be enough for Lord DIO to reach max performance." He spoke.
As the group fought, Oingo and Boingo stayed on the sidelines, trying to think of something. "Wait, if Vanilla Ice is also a vampire, does that mean he could burn in the sun light?" Oingo asked Boingo, getting a nod from his brother. "Then maybe we could just hit the wall, or something. I mean we aren't strong enough to punch in but maybe if we telepathically talk to one of our now allies..." Oingo stated before going brain mode.
"Hey, Avdol, do you think you could punch a hole in the wall? I can distract Vanilla Ice." He spoke to Avdol. "Are you sure? I'm assuming you can't copy stands like you copy appearances." Avdol asked back. "Yeah, but I mean losing my arms better than being bisected." Oingo said before carefully placing Boingo on the ground, hiding him so he wouldn't be found. "Big bro, what are you doing?"
"I'll be right back, don't worry." The older brother said softly before using Khnum to turn into Avdol before running toward Vanilla Ice to distract him.
Not realizing that this new Avdol suddenly changed his outfit, the vampire focused all of his attention on the imposter, with one swift slash, the space between them both had vanished, and Vanilla Ice grabbed ahold of his arms, tearing at them.
Boingo panicked as his big brother kept the vampire from making the more gruesome prediction come true, with a crossfire hurricane aimed directly above him, Avdol was able to cause the ceiling to crumble, sending direct sunlight into the room.
As Ice was being reduced to ash, he still found time to erase Oingo's forearms. "Damn, that's gonna leave a mark, huh?" He panted, Khnum's power fading as he returned to his usual self.
"Big bro!" Boingo made a dash towards his brother, using all of his strength to try and lift him. "You gotta get up! You just have to!" He begged. "Please... I-I don't know what I'd do without you."
"L... Little bro?" Oingo coughed up a bit of blood as he sat upright. "Was that what you didn't want to show me?"
Boingo sniffled, turning the pages in Thoth. "The brothers knew the team could die as they went to kill DIO, but their actions could exchange one death for another. And one day, the little brother Boingo would have to go on without his bigger bro." He read. "I... I didn't want to think you'd die..."
Using all his strength, Oingo used his arm stubs to pull Boingo in for a hug. "Well, better me than you, right? And ugh- and I just prevented three deaths." He exclaimed.
"B-but you can't die! Can't Josuke use his stand to heal you? He can heal anything! Please, you're all I have."
"I don't think he can, he couldn't heal Avdol when he had a bullet lodged in his forehead when Hol Horse shot him." Polnareff explained. But Boingo wasn't taking it well. "Can he try?!" the child cried out, desperate on not wanting his brother to die.
Josuke tried but there was no use, the damage was too deep for him to heal. "B... Boingo, you've gotta be strong... For me..." Oingo said as his breath became shallower as he bled out. "NO, big bro you can't die, not yet! Please, stay with me!" The younger brother sobbed, hugging onto his dying brother. But there was nothing he could do.
Boingo sat in his brother's upper arms, sobbing as his soul left his body as a yellowish colored steam. Only stand users could see people's souls leave their bodies.
Hol Horse, hearing the sobs, finally made it to the group. "Hey what-" He was going to ask what happened, but it was pretty obvious what went down.
The team remained silent, getting on their knees in respect as the child mourned for his older brother, it was clear he needed his space at the moment. Boingo's eyes were red and puffy from how hard he was crying, eventually his sobs slowed to soft sniffles as he wiped his eyes. "He was always there for me... He was strong for me... I... I never thought I'd have to be alone..."
Josuke found himself sniffling too as he watched the older child mourn for Oingo, he climbed out of his carrier and crawled towards Boingo, tugging at his hand. Looking down, Boingo pulled the baby into a hug. "I have to be strong, it's what he wanted. But... I don't know how. I can't fight, I can't do anything he can do."
This was when Hol Horse finally spoke up. "He would have been lost without you too, it's because of your stand that you guys were able to get this far." He softly said, getting beside the distraught child. "His sacrifice kept us all alive, and I swear he won't die in vain."
"Y-yeah... He did it to protect us... This one is for you, big bro!" Boingo declared, getting up on his feet. "DIO's going down, and I'm going to make you proud!"
"Let's kill that vampiric Douch bag. And once he's defeated, we can take that asshole's money." Hol Horse said as the other three members met up with them. "Whoa uh-" Joseph started as he looked at the blood that was everywhere.
"We'll tell you later." Avdol stated before walking with the group towards DIO's bedroom. "So, Vanilla Ice and Paura failed me... A shame since Vanilla was so good in bed. Oh well, at least I'll have the Joestars where I want them." DIO purred to himself.
As the group was at DIO's door, but before they could storm in, they needed to think of a plan. "Okay so we can't barge in, he'd expect that. So maybe we constantly distract him." Joseph suggested. "Well yeah but how?"
"Basically, if we use all of our stands to distract him, we'll kill him." The old man tried to explain. "I see, but would that work?"
"Well, maybe. We'll have to try it... Unless we destroy his ceiling, he wouldn't suspect that, right?"
It was unlikely that a vampire would fall for the same trick twice, especially if someone was as powerful as DIO. The group split up again, the three members of the Joestar family will face the vampire head on while the others would sneak behind to let sunlight into the room. "All I know is his stand can stop time for a few seconds." Hol Horse thought, letting the rest of the team know.
"Stop time, huh? So, we better be quick." Jotaro thought back. The door was kicked down, the vampire on full display. "Before we kill you, just let me know. What do you even have to gain from this?" He hissed.
"Oh, so you want to know? I am only taking what is mine, I lost my chance a hundred years ago thanks to that poor excuse of an adoptive brother, so I'm taking it now!" DIO cackled. "Finally erasing the Joestar family line will leave me unstoppable!"
Star Platinum and Crazy Diamond were summoned in an instant, as such DIO summoned his own stand, The World. "I will take pleasure in draining your blood once you're dead."
As soon as Josuke went for an attack, time suddenly stopped, with DIO appearing behind them. "You little brat, you've kept them alive for too long!"
As soon as he made a reach for the toddler, Star Platinum somehow moved despite the time stop, punching him away. "What? How is this possible?!"
"Seems like you underestimated Star Platinum." Jotaro stated, not really knowing how he was able to move in frozen time. "Guess my stand is a similar to yours, only less stupid."
"Don't you DARE say your pathetic stand is similar to my stand, Za Worldo!" DIO sneered before realizing he wasted time by talking down to Jotaro and that he only had a few seconds to deal with his enemies.
As those seconds passed, he was bombarded with attacks from Star Platinum, as well as Crazy Diamond. Just before he could be knocked out, the ceiling fell, revealing the sun. "Shit." He thought, attempting to hid from the sunlight, only to be dragged out by hermit purple, since Joseph sneakily wrapped it around him as he was getting the shit beat out of him.
As the vampire was being reduced to ash, they were being watched by a familiar looking baby. It didn't react at all as DIO was burning up, as the humans forced him into the sunlight. The toddler hid away as the humans left, glaring hard at Josuke.
As the sun went down, the toddler grabbed DIO's old headband, keeping it close to him. He grabbed a picture of the crusaders left behind by Joseph, tearing it apart with his own tiny fangs. Paura remained on the roof as they left, not before holding the baby in his arms. "You have killed DIO."
Jotaro turned back, he would have sent out Star Platinum to attack, but that last battle took every last bit of strength out of him. Not that it would have done much with Paura leaping off to another building. "Your vengeance will come sooner than you think." He told the baby. "They will pay for killing your father."
The baby simply nodded. However, that's a story for another time, as the team were making their way to the airport. "Do you think big bro is proud of me?" Boingo asked Hol Horse. "Was I brave enough?"
The westerner scooped him right up. "You were even braver than I ever was as a kid, I know he's always gonna be proud."
"So, what are we going to do with the kids? I mean I know we're probably returning Josuke to his mom, but what about Boingo?" Jotaro asked. "Well, the original plan was for The two brothers to get funds from the Speedwagon foundation, or even a job there. But since Oingo died, we're probably going to have to be sent back ho-"
"Hey, I can take him. I mean, I don't got much in the ways of raising a kid but it's better than what he's got going on at his house." Hol Horse started. "If that's what he wants." He continued, getting his answer in the form of a hug by the boy.
With everything situated, the gang went back to Japan to drop off Josuke and the two teens. Which was perfect timing since Tomoko was at the airport waiting for them. She came as soon as she was told by the Speedwagon Foundation that Joseph was coming back.
"Hey Joseph, how was your trip? Did Josuke have a good time?" She asked. "It was interesting, dare I say it was bizarre, but, I think what's most important is that me and Josuke really bonded." The old man commented.
The toddler nodded and clapped as he hugged his father. "Uh, yeah. Josuke had a good time with us, he even said his first words." Jotaro added. "We spent a lot of time traveling, Gigi even got him some new toys."
"He got to say his first words. I wish I could have been there to see that. Well at least he's back without a scratch on him. Oh, I hope he didn't get too bored." Tomoko replied as she put on Josuke's carrier. "I know how these business trips can be."
"I don't think he was bored at all, Miss. We all had a wonderful time sightseeing and even brought back some souvenirs." Kakyoin assured her. He was carrying a large bag with some dried fruit, a couple pieces of jewelry and a scarab statuette. "You think the little guy can come visit us again?"
Josuke really liked that idea, bouncing at the thought of staying with his extended family a little longer. "Well maybe next time when I need to go out of town, I'll leave him with you all uh. Joseph? Are you going back to America already?"
The old man looked at his son, thinking back to Holly. The entire reason they went on their mission was to save her, maybe he should let her meet Josuke too. "I think I'll stick around a little while longer."
With that, the group, with Tomoko, went to the Kujo residence to check on Holly as well as to introduce Josuke to her.
At the residence, Holly awoke and sat up slowly. "P... Papa?" She asked looking at him. "Oh Holly, I'm so glad you're okay!" Joseph said hugging her gently.
"What happened? I just passed out and-" She started before noticing Tomoko and Josuke. "Oh? Who's this?"
"Hello, I'm Tomoko Higashikata, and this is your half-brother, Josuke." The woman stated. It was a bit awkward since she was around Holly's age. "Half-brother? Papa, you cheated on Mama?" The blonde asked a bit shocked that her father would have an affair especially at his age.
"I know it's a bit shocking, your mother isn't going to be happy about this either." Joseph said as he stayed beside his daughter.
"Well, uh... can I hold him?" Holly softly asked, looking over at the peaceful toddler.
Joseph just nodded, placing Josuke in her arms. "We met a lot of new faces on our trip, the little guy here even got Jotaro to open up. He's even got a boyfriend." The old man explained.
"Aw he does? I'm so happy Jojo's found someone, he's such a sweet boy." Holly cooed, rocking Josuke. "Of course, Josuke here is a little darling too."
The three adults just smiled as they bonded with the toddler, he was soaking in all the attention he was getting. Joseph did eventually explain the affair to Suzy Q, thankfully she took it well (after chasing Joseph with an umbrella that is).
Jotaro found it hard to say goodbye once it was time for Josuke to return to Morioh, but he knew they would see each other again someday. "Aw, was that a smile, Jojo?" Holly teased.
"Gah! Uh, I guess it was, Mom. Uh, I think I need a hug..."
Holly was more than happy to oblige. "I'll miss him too; I just know he's going to be a great man when he grows up. Just like you."
"Yeah, I think so too."
