10. Unpopular Opinion Tag

Well it looks like I've been tagged by  (btw nice profile pic) to do this. All I have to do is give 15 unpopular opinions that I have. Sounds easy right? Well easy enough, but I'll probably end up offending a LOT of people so RIP me. Let's just get started.

1. I like Vanilluxe

A lot of people hate a lot of gen 5 Pokémon and one that gets a particular amount of hate is Vanilluxe because it's "just an ice cream". Newsflash people, Geodude is just a rock, Voltorb is just a Pokéball, Muk is just a pile of shit. I don't know why gen 5 gets so much hate for its inanimate object Pokémon when every other generation has examples, especially the beloved gen 1. Vanilluxe happens to be one of my very favourite Pokémon so yeah. Fight me.

2. School is great

Honestly, my sixth form years were the best 2 years of my life and the rest of school was also pretty great. I don't know why everybody loves to hate school. Do you know what happens when you're not in school? You have to get a job. As you in have to do actual work. Bleh, let me redo A-Levels.

3. I love maths

Maths is so much fun! I love algebra and equations and problem solving and logic puzzles and oooooh, I feel excited just thinking about it. Give me a tricky problem about geometry or integration or anything and I'll be pretty buzzed.

4. The prequel trilogy is good

I see the problems with the Star Wars prequels. The dialogue and romance is horrendous and Jar Jar is kinda annoying. But honestly, it's so easy to look past that stuff when you look at all of the good stuff in the prequels and I find them to be thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining even after all these years of re-watching them so many times. Comparing them to the original trilogy, you can see why some fans were disappointed but I also feel that Star Wars fans are blinded to the original trilogy's flaws. I rank The Phantom Menace and Revenge of the Sith above Return of the Jedi because honestly, that movie has a lot of issues and most importantly, it's kinda boring. At least the prequels gave us some awesome action.

5. The Pokémon community is utterly bizarre

Remember when there was loads of backlash when USUM were revealed? People were angry because it wasn't on the Switch and it wasn't Diamond and Pearl remakes and it wasn't called Pokémon Stars. Anyone with half a brain could've told you it would've been the next instalment in gen 7 on the 3DS but the whole community was butthurt because their totally unrealistic expectations didn't come true. Oh and also, Pokémon Stars would've been the worst named Pokémon game in history. Imagine a third instalment to Sun and Moon being names Stars. You do realise the Sun is a star right? You might as well just call it Pokémon Sun again. And then people get super hyped when Nintendo announced at E3 that there were plans for Pokémon on the Switch. That's not news! Of course they're planning games for their new console! Why, when we're given absolutely no detail whatsoever, just a vague promise that a game developer is planning game development does everybody lose their minds?

6. Black Panther wasn't that good for progression

I find it odd how much praise this movie gets for having an all black cast. It's set in Africa. Of course it has a black cast. I also find it amusing that the best part of the whole movie was Andy Serkhis (one of 2 white characters in the film). Where Black Panther definitely deserves more praise than it gets is for its female characters. I don't think I've seen anyone really talk about this given how much everybody talks about the actor's colour, but man the women in this movie are pretty awesome. The head of the military is an awesome spear wielding, butt kicking woman and she isn't sexualised AT ALL. That makes her way better than anything out of Wonder Woman, especially as this could've easily been a male character. It could've been T'Challa's dude bro mate who's always got his back but they made her (and a few other good characters) women and that's pretty great. I feel like Black Panther was a starting step for progression, not this huge ground-breaking leap that everybody says it is. Imagine a movie set in the UK where half the cast was black. Now that would be incredible.

7. Having bad characters isn't necessarily a bad thing

I feel like sometimes, books are too harshly criticised for having characters with major flaws or for doing bad things. Thinking back to when the GRA reviewed Pokémon Chronicles Zero, Sheldon was criticised because one of his characters, Megan, gave some bad advice to another character about dating. Megan's advice was bad sure, but it's a piece of advice that someone with very little experience, such as Megan, could easily give. I actually thought it was quite good to include it but apparently, I was in the minority. This is just one example that I thought of on the spot. Sometimes it can be very, very bad to do certain things with characters. Not naming any names of course (ME).

8. Opinions can be wrong

But hey, that's just my opinion.

9. AK isn't that good

Ace King is that hand that I raise with because I'm supposed to, not because I like it. It's just so easy to lose to just about anything but it's played like you have the stone cold nuts. I'll take tens or nines over Ace King any day.

10. You're either a boy or a girl

I have utmost respect for the LGBT+ community and anyone who is any orientation other than straight. I just have a really, really hard time getting my head around genders. I just don't think it's right to just one day decide that you've become a boy when you've been a girl your whole life. And even if you have the right to decide that, do I not have a right to decide if I should call you by your preferred gender? If you're girl who acts like a boy then in my book, that's the definition of a tomboy. I don't need to start using male pronouns or being worried about "assuming". I find it very odd that people have the power to change their gender whenever they want. You could change twice in one conversation! I find it much less complicated to think about it in turns of peepee or no peepee.

11. Pugs are the ugliest

Not much explaining here. They're unbelievably ugly.

12. Weird is good

I will never understand wanting to be normal. Why would you want to be like everybody else? The amazing thing about being human is that we're all different. We have unique interests and personalities and that's fantastic! And yet, you see people going out of their way to fit in and to be like somebody else. I'd much rather be me thanks.

13. Swearing is fine

Fuck never hurt anybody. Neither did cunt. Honestly, I don't understand why we have to censor these words. They can be very useful literary tools.

14. The main purpose of fiction is entertainment

This plays off the PWA 2017. I heard a lot about how edgy and sad a lot of the fics were and I can't help but think how boring that must be to read. A book should excite and entertain, force me to keep reading because I'm having such a good time. That doesn't mean you can't try to tug at my emotions but if the whole book is just trying to get me to cry... sorry but I don't cry very easily, especially at fiction. (This also applies for movies and TV etc.)

15. New Top Gear is good

I like the direction they took the show after they realised that trying to copy Clarkson, Hammond and May was a bad idea. The Chris Evans version was diabolical so they quickly axed it and tried to reinvent it. Now, instead of going for the same thing but not quite as good, they've got something that's good but not quite the same. It's not quite as good as the classic trio but trying to recreate anything as brilliant as that would be foolish.

Yeah, so that's it I guess. This was way harder than I expected and took forever. I also don't have anyone to tag so if you wanna do it, go for it.
