Best Friends/Soulmate au
Castiel and Dean have been best friends since they were kids. Castiel is a nerd, Dean is a popular jock. They're starting their second day as seniors at a new school. Dean is 18, Castiel is turning 18. They got their own apartment in another city, which is why they're going to a new school. When one soulmate becomes 18, they get an engraving that will match their soulmates.
•~•~•~•~•~•
*Castiel's POV*
"Dee, I don't know about this. You're already popular and we've been there for one day," I sigh.
"So? We're seniors, Cass. Live a little, get out of the library," Dean tells me.
"Dee, I feel safe there. People like you don't come in there," I tell him.
"What are you saying? I hang out in there with you sometimes," Dean says.
"No, I mean the rude stuck-up popular people. Of course you wouldn't, because you're not like that. Popular people are generally rude to people like me," I tell him.
"If they say anything to you, just let me know and I'll deal with them," Dean says.
"Yeah, okay," I sigh.
We pull up to the school and hop out of Dean's Impala. "I'll meet you at lunch outside of the library, okay?" I nod my head in agreement, and he walks off. I walk into the school and take a deep breath.
•••
"Hey, Cass!" Charlie yells, running over to me as I stand outside the library. I'm currently waiting for Dean, since he said last night that he didn't want to eat the horrible school food. And since he didn't want to go alone, he immediately told me I have to go with him.
"Hello, Charlie," I reply. "Can you not call me 'Cass'? It's just, I don't like that nickname unless it's my best friend saying it." Charlie quickly nodded, while looking at me as if to say 'I'm sorry'. "So, where's Kevin?"
"Probably still in the library, studying his ass off," Charlie says.
"It's the second day of school though?" I ask.
"You've known him for one day, Castiel. Don't expect to know everything," she said matter-of-factly.
"You're right," I reply.
"So, why aren't you in the cafeteria with me? When I didn't see Kevin, I knew it was normal. But I don't know much about you, so I wanted to see the hold up."
"I'm waiting for someone," I say, not meeting her gaze. I didn't want people at school to know I was Dean's best friend because they'd always somehow figure out a way to blackmail me, like in our old school. I'd get bullied, which Dean has no clue about. That's basically the only thing I kept from him, besides the fact that I cut and have feelings for him. He doesn't even know I'm gay, which is the hardest thing of all. After years of friendship it could all be thrown away because of my sexuality. The worst thing, though, is when I'd hear Dean having sex in the other room. We lived here for three weeks before enrolling ourselves into the school we're in now. It was easy to get in, seeing as school was just starting. So we started with everyone else. Being here for three weeks certainly helped him with the ladies, especially the ones at school. They knew he was just looking for a one night stand - not that I ever knew why - but they don't care. They just want to be able to say 'I got fucked by Dean Winchester'. And if I'm honest, I wish I could say that too.
"Who are you waiting for?" Charlie asks, pulling me out of my thoughts.
My phone buzzes, so I quickly slide it out of my pocket. Charlie bounces over to me, trying to peer over at the text.
Dean: I saw you with Charlie as I was turning the corner. I'll be waiting at Baby for you
I smile when I read Dean's name, pushing Charlie away at the same time.
"This is private, Charlie. Why don't you go hang out with Kevin? I'm going out to eat," I say.
"Ooh, can I come? I'll even pay for the both of us. I just don't want to be left alone with Kevin ignoring me the whole time."
Another buzz on my phone. I sigh, remembering that I never responded.
Dean: Cass? You coming? I'm starving, I just want some pie
I chuckle softly before replying to Dean's text.
Me: Sorry, Dee. Was trying to politely tell Charlie to go away so I can go to the Impala
"Sorry, Charlie. I'm hanging out with my childhood best friend and I'd like it to be just us," I say.
"Ooh, what's her name?" Charlie asks, with a hint of laughter and curiosity.
"Not a her, and I'm not comfortable talking about him yet," I reply.
"Understandable. I'll see you after lunch, okay?" She asks.
I nod in agreement before walking off to the exit doors. I show the lady my school ID, along with a signed permission slip to leave during lunch, and she lets me leave. Baby is already pulled up to the doors when I walk outside, so I hop in the passengers seat quickly.
"Sorry, Dee. Didn't think it'd take that long. Why'd you come so late, anyway?" I ask, looking over at him.
Dean's knuckles turn white as he grips onto the steering wheel tightly. "Some guys were saying shit about you in class. It took all of my willpower to not punch them square in the face right there and then."
I sighed, shifting a bit on the leather seats. "That's exactly why I didn't want anyone to know. Your reputation would be ruined, you'd feel..." I drifted off as my eyes started to water. I looked out the window in attempt to hide my tears. Dean knew better, though. He knows me.
"Cass," Dean speaks, quietly and dangerously low. I had to close my eyes and will myself not to get a boner at the sexy voice that just came from Dean. "Cass, what's wrong?"
"It's nothing, Dean," I mutter quietly. Dean still managed to hear it though.
"You never call me Dean. It's always been Dee. Always. Ever since I could remember. Even when we grew out of those childish nicknames. I always call you Cass, no one else calls you that. Except me. Just like you're the only one who can call me Dee. So tell me, please."
I take a deep breath and cover my face. "I-I can't, Dee. Not now, not ever." Dean puts one of his hands on my knee, in an attempt to comfort me. "Don't worry about it."
"But I worry about you, I always will. You're my best friend. I can't just drop it. I'll let you tell me when you're ready, but I won't forget about it," Dean says.
"Thank you," I sigh. We pull up to a small cafe and Dean parks. We walk inside and take a seat at a booth.
A waitress walks up to us, eyeing Dean. He smirks at her. "My name is Tessa, what's yours?"
"Dean," he replies. I clear my throat, and Dean meets my gaze. "Sorry, Cass."
"It's okay, Dee," I say.
Tessa glares at me. Dean notices, thankfully. "What's your problem with him?" He asks harshly.
Tessa looks down to the ground. "Sorry, Dee," she says. I can see a small smirk on her face.
"You can't call me that," Dean says. "It's Dean to you."
She looks up, face draining of color. She realizes she won't get him. "What's your order?"
"Coffee, French vanilla creamer," I say. She scoffs quietly, but I ignore it. "And two slices of pie. One for me, and one for Dee. Apple, please."
"Thanks, Cass," Dean says. "You always know what I want." We both laugh. Tessa huffs, walking back to the counter. "I'm sorry about her. Sorry I forgot you were there, too."
"Used to it," I shrug.
"What's that supposed to mean?" He asks.
"It means, we share an apartment. Stop fucking random girls, or go to their place," I reply.
Dean sighs. "I'm sorry, Cass. You're right."
"I always had to wait for her to leave before I could leave my room. We've been here for three weeks, Dee. I didn't want that to be so repetitive. I'm still your best friend. Whenever you're with a pretty girl, you forget I exist," I tell him.
"You're right," Dean says, not meeting my gaze. "I'll stop bringing girls home. Cut down on going out with them all the time. Focus more on you. I don't want to lose you because of some random girls that mean nothing to me."
I look down in an attempt to hide my blush. "You'd do all that, for me?" I ask.
"Of course," he says.
•••
"Hello, Charlie," I say, taking a seat next to her. We're now in Chemistry, the period after lunch. Conveniently, Dean is here too. Of course, we didn't want to be seen walking together, so he's going to the bathroom first.
"Hi, Cassie," she says. I laugh softly, thankful that she didn't call me Cass again. "How was lunch?"
"Good, I had a French vanilla coffee with apple pie. My best friend told me something nice, so that's new," I say.
"What'd he say?" She asks.
"He's going to start hanging out with me more, since I was tired of him forgetting about me," I say.
"Cute," she replies. The bell rings, and I sigh. Of course, Dean would be late. "What's the sigh for?"
"Because I don't want to do Chemistry," I lie. She laughs, nodding in agreement.
Dean then walks in and the teacher sighs. "Winchester, where were you?" She asks.
"I was in the bathroom. Sorry, Miss," he says, walking to his seat. He glances over at me quickly, so I smile and roll my eyes. He laughs, turning back to the teacher.
"Got a crush on Dean?" Charlie asks.
"What?" I ask, turning to her.
"It's alright if you do. Any logical person would. He turns straight guys gay for him, and lesbians straight for him," she says.
"Well I'm not straight," I reply. I wince, not knowing how she's going to react.
"I'm not either," she beams. "Your first time coming out?" I nod softly. "Doesn't your best friend know?" I shake my head. "Why not?"
"I'm afraid of how he'd react. He might freak out and ask if I like him. I wouldn't be able to deny, because he knows when I'm lying. I don't want to lose his friendship. He's my childhood best friend," I sigh.
"Well, what's he like?" Charlie asks.
"He's got two little brothers. Adam and Sam. He's very protective over them, as he is over me. He treats me like family, even though we're not. His family is everything to him. It took him everything for us to come out here together. We share an apartment. He loves his car. Which I can't complain, because his car is amazing," I tell her.
"Sounds like he really cares about you," Charlie says. I nod. "You should really introduce us sometime."
"No, no. I don't want to," I say. My phone buzzes, so I pull it out. Charlie doesn't try to look this time.
Dean: These people are testing my nerves
I softly chuckle, looking over and seeing him frustrated.
Me: Calm down, Dee. Tell me what's going on
Dean: They're complaining how you won't take off your 'stupid long jacket'
Me: It's a trench coat. Why do they care anyway?
I look over and see Dean talking to three boys. I decide to do my Chemistry worksheet while I wait. A couple minutes later, he responds.
Dean: They want to see if you're scrawny or built. They don't even know your name
"Mr. Novak!" The teacher yells. I jump, hitting my legs on the desk. I look up to see her glaring at me. "Is that a phone? Why don't you come up here and read the messages?"
"I'm using the calculator for the equations in the word problems," I lie. She stares at me skeptically for a couple seconds before huffing and looking back down to her desk.
Me: Thanks, Dee. I'll talk to you after school
Dean: Sorry, Cass
I put my phone back in my pocket and continue on the worksheet. "You okay, Cassie?" Charlie asks.
"Knees hurt, that's basically it," I shrug.
"Miss Bradbury," the teacher says. Charlie and I both look up at her. "Switch seats with Winchester. I want him in the front." Charlie sighs, but I look down at my worksheet in shock. The two switch seats, but I don't dare look at him.
"Cass, you okay?" He asks softly.
"I'm fine, Dee. My knees hurt from hitting the desk," I reply quietly.
"Need to go to the nurse?" He asks.
"I'll take care of it when we get home," I sigh. Dean nods in agreement. I finish the worksheet and help Dean with his.
"What do we do when we finish our worksheet?" Charlie asks.
"Whatever you want," the teacher replies. Almost instantly, my phone buzzes.
Charlie: You're talking to Winchester!!
Me: Yes, I am. Why?
Charlie: He's the most popular guy in school!! And he's talking to you!
I laugh softly. "Charlie is freaking out because I'm helping you with the worksheet."
"I'm just me," Dean replies.
"You're the most popular guy in school, Dee," I reply.
"That doesn't mean anything. I'm still me," Dean says.
Me: Calm down lmao he's still human
Charlie: I bet he's gonna date Lisa
Me: He doesn't date
Charlie: When he finds the right one he will
Me: And you think that's her?
Charlie: It's cliche, but it happens
"She's saying you and Lisa Braeden are going to date," I laugh.
"I don't date," Dean laughs.
My phone buzzes: Sam.
Me: Gotta go, Charlie
Charlie: Bye
Sam: Hey, Castiel. Why isn't Dean answering his phone?
Me: We're in Chemistry. He didn't finish his worksheet so he can't be on his phone
Sam: Oh, I thought it was lunch. Like it is here
Me: No we already had that
"Sam's texting me," I tell Dean. He quickly drops his pencil and takes my phone. I scoff, looking over and watching my phone.
Me: Hey, Sammy. It's Dean
Sam: Hey, Dean. Thought you couldn't text?
Me: Not supposed to, but since when do I listen?
Sam: I just wanted to ask how your days were going because I didn't check in yesterday and I figured it was lunch
Me: We both made friends
"Dee, can I have my phone back? This isn't helping us not act like friends," I whisper. Dean pulls out his phone and hands it to me. "What am I supposed to do with this? You use it, I want mine."
Me: Cass wants his phone back
Sam: Give it to him then
Me: I gave him mine
Sam: Why??
Me: Because I'm already on his
I quickly take it back as he does his worksheet with one hand. Dean scoffs, looking over at me in shock. "That's unfair!" He whines.
"Winchester! Novak! Quiet down!"
I roll my eyes and look back at my phone.
Me: Got it back. Took it when he wasn't paying attention
Sam: Sounds like you. Listen, I've gotta go. I'll tell Gabe you said hi
Me: Thanks. Tell him I miss him too
Sam: Will do
The bell rings, so I pack everything up. "I'll wait for you at the end of the day at Baby," I tell Dean.
"Okay," Dean replies.
I walk to the front door, waiting for Charlie. She walks over to me and pulls me with her to her locker. Kevin is already waiting there. "Talk, Novak."
"About what?" I ask.
"Woah, wait. What's going on?" Kevin asks.
"Dean Winchester took his phone, gave his to Castiel, and then Castiel took it back and Dean complained," Charlie says.
"You we're watching me?" I ask.
"It's what she does. She makes sure her friends are okay," Kevin says. "Just talk, Castiel. We're curious."
"I-we're, uh, friends?" I say hesitantly.
"You're what?!" Charlie yells.
"Keep it down!" Kevin and I say loudly. Charlie laughs awkwardly, muttering a soft 'sorry.'
"I don't want anyone to find out, okay?" I ask.
"How long have you two been friends?" Kevin asks. "He just started coming here yesterday, same with you."
"Since we were kids," I sigh.
"He's the childhood best friend?" Charlie asks.
"Yeah," I sigh.
"You live with Dean Winchester?" Charlie asks.
"You do?" Kevin asks.
"We moved here together. He stole my phone because his brother was texting me," I say. "If you guys want, you can come over after school. Pretty sure Dee won't mind."
"Dee?" Kevin asks.
I avert my eyes and sigh. "Childhood nickname. He's the only one who can call me Cass, which is why I told Charlie not to."
"Cute," Charlie says. "Let's go to class."
•••
I meet up with a Charlie and Kevin at the doors. I lead them outside to Dean's Impala. "Should've known this was his," Charlie laughs. "Everyone's talking about it."
A couple minutes later, the parking lot is empty except for us. "Where's Dean?" Kevin asks.
"I didn't want to be seen with him because stuff happened last year when people found out. He's probably coming now."
"Cass?" Dean asks. I turn around and smile. "What's going on?"
"Well because you decided to take my phone in class, Charlie kept asking questions," I say.
Dean chuckles softly. "Sorry about that. Wanted to talk to Sammy. How come they're here right now?"
"Because I told them they could come over. That's okay, right?" I ask.
"You live there too, Cass. Charlie and Kevin in the back seat," Dean says.
Charlie and I switch positions and Dean unlocks Baby. We hop in and Dean starts the drive.
"Nice car," Kevin says.
"It's not just a car," I reply, before Dean can. "It's his Baby."
"Shut up, Cass," Dean says. All of us laugh. "Does this mean I can start hanging out with you at school?"
"No, I only want Charlie and Kevin to know," I say. Dean sighs. "Sorry, Dee."
"Why won't you tell me what's going on? Why can't people know?" Dean asks. "And please, don't start crying again."
"Because shit happened the last time, Dee!" I yell. The whole car goes dead silent. Charlie and Kevin stopped their small conversation and stared at me in shock. I pull my legs up to my chest and look out the window. "I have my reasons."
"Cass," Dean says softly. He puts his hand on my leg like he did earlier. "I'm sorry, again. I just don't like having secrets between us. You should trust me with anything."
"I don't want to lose you," I say, my voice cracking. "There's so much shit you don't know. It kills me to keep it from you."
"Cass," Dean sighs. "Can we talk when we get home? I want you to tell me everything. I swear I won't leave and I won't freak out."
"Fine," I say softly. "Sorry, guys. Didn't mean to freak out like that."
"It's okay, Cassie," Charlie says softly. "Just tell him, he won't leave. From what you told me, Dean really cares about you. He won't leave you."
I look over at Dean, seeing a soft smile from what Charlie said. We pull into the parking lot and get out of the car. We walk to our apartment and Dean unlocks the door. Charlie and Kevin instantly sit down on the couch, giving us room to talk.
"You can turn the TV on while you wait," Dean tells them. He grabs my arm softly and pulls me to his bedroom. We both sit down on his bed, waiting for one of us to start. "Charlie's right. I'm not going anywhere. I already told you I'd spend more time with you and stop bringing girls. Just tell me, okay?"
I sigh softly. "I don't know what to start with."
"Start with what happened last time. I don't know," Dean says softly.
"I was bullied, blackmailed. It escalated," I sigh.
Dean takes a deep breath and clenches his fists. "What do you mean by escalated? What did they blackmail you with?"
"Dee, don't freak out," I say quietly. He meets my gaze. I slowly take off my trench coat, leaving me in a t-shirt. I show him my wrists and he instantly takes my hands in his. "It became too much. They'd blackmail me with things you didn't know about me. I didn't want you to find out, and they made me...do stuff. I felt awful after that, worthless."
"Why didn't you just tell me?" Dean whispers, voice threatening to break. "What did they blackmail you with?"
I slowly pull my arms away from him, putting them back into my trench coat. "I'm, uh," I stutter. I take a deep breath before continuing. "Gay."
I cover my face, forcing myself not to see his reaction. "That's it?" Dean asks. I decide not to tell him about my feelings for him, thinking it's best. I nod softly, pulling my hands off my face. "You could've told me, Cass. How long have you known?"
"Since a couple years after we met," I sigh.
"That long?" He asks. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't know how'd you react. You're always with girls. Didn't know if you'd be okay with it," I say.
"Of course I am, there's nothing wrong with it. It's just who you're attracted to, who you like. They're still human," Dean chuckles softly. "Cass?"
"Hmm?" I ask.
"Who would blackmail and bully you?" Dean asks.
"Azazel," I sigh.
"Of course," Dean scoffs. "If anyone bullies you in school, let me know." I nod in agreement. My phone buzzes, making me huff.
"Go out there with them, I'll be out in a minute." Dean nods, following my words.
Luci: Dad wants you home for your birthday
Me: What? No. It's my 18th, I'm spending it with Dee
Luci: What's his engraving?
Me: Two black wings, why?
Luci: Get home now
Me: No
Luci: Don't make me come get you. Your birthday is tomorrow, we have stuff we need to tell you. Without Dean
Me: Oh my God, fine
Luci: Don't take that tone with me. Just get over here
I sigh. They've always been freakishly religious. I walk into the living room, seeing the three of them laugh. "Dee?" I ask. They stop laughing and look at me with confusion. "Luci wants me to come home for my birthday. For some reason he wants me to come home right now."
Dean sighs. "I'll take you two home. Everyone get in the car."
•••
"I'll text you happy birthday during lunch, okay? I want to know your engraving, too. Let me know when to pick you up," Dean says.
"Okay, Dee. Bye," I say, hopping out of Baby. "Maybe you can go say hi to Sam, Adam, John, and Mary."
"I will. Bye, Cass," Dean says. He pulls out and drives away.
I walk up the doorstep and enter the house. "I'm home!"
"Dining room!" Dad yells. I scrunch up my face in confusion before walking there. "Take a seat, we all have something to tell you."
"Where's Samandriel and Gabriel?" I ask.
"At the Winchester's. Dean drove, did he not?" Dad asks.
"He did. He's going to visit them now. What's this about?" I ask, sitting in my regular seat.
"Show him," Dad says. At the same time, my brothers and sisters pull off their jackets and I gasp. Wings spread out behind each of their backs. Each have different colors. Dad then takes his off and I see gold and white wings. "We get them on our 18th birthday. We get our powers then, too."
"What am I?" I ask.
"An Angel. Which makes me God," dad says.
"What?" I ask. "This isn't real."
"We'll give you time to process. We wanted to let you know, because you're getting black wings tomorrow. They were picked out when you were born," Dad says.
"Black wings? Like Dee's engraving?" I ask. He nods. "So I'm his soulmate?"
"But he won't know. You won't get an engraving. Our soulmates will only have an engraving that matches our wings. Our wings are extremely sensitive, Castiel. They need to be groomed every single day, and they need to be covered up by our coats. They will go straight through our shirts, but not our coats. That's why I gave you that trench coat."
•••
The pain I experienced when getting my wings was indescribable. I got them at midnight, and ever since then, my family has been teaching me how to work with them. Apparently I can fly/teleport with them, which is absolutely mind blowing. Luci had told me that when Dean touches my wings, I'll get horny and moan. I shoved him after that, which made him laugh. I'll still have feelings, which made me happy. I can also use telekinesis in a way, to get things to move. They've been teaching me how to use my powers, and told me that I won't need to eat, sleep, or go to the bathroom anymore. Or have any hygiene, which confused me. Apparently because I'm an Angel, it's not necessary. Somehow, I can also have kids. Only Dean's though, because he's my soulmate. Something to do with having reproductive organs but having to get a C-section. I won't be able to die either, without something called an angel blade. I'll auto-heal, it's awesome. And I can talk to my family without a phone or seeing them in person. It's all very confusing, but by lunchtime I had gotten everything down.
Lucifer and I decided to go pick up Samandriel and Gabe. We get into Dad's car and drive there. When we arrive, we walk up to the door. I put in a spare key that the Winchester's gave to me. Lucifer looks at me weird, in which I roll my eyes. We enter and I find everyone in the living room.
"Hey, John. Hey, Mary," I say.
"Hey, Castiel," Mary smiles. "Happy birthday." Everyone chimes in with their own 'happy birthday'.
"Hey, Cass!" Dean says, pulling me over to him. I laugh, discreetly making sure he doesn't touch my wings. We sit down and he rolls up one of my sleeves. My scars are gone and there's no engraving. Dean looks at me with shock, but I have the same expression. "What..?"
"I don't know..." I reply.
Lucifer clears his throat and Dean rolls down my sleeve. "He doesn't have an engraving."
"I'm so sorry, Castiel," Mary says. "She must've passed away."
Dean, Lucifer, and I try to hold in our responses about me being gay. Lucifer obviously knows, because our soulmates will usually follow our sexuality. Wait. I thought Dean was straight?
"Luci, can I talk to you for a sec?" I ask. He nods. "I'll be right back, Dee." Dean nods, letting me up. Lucifer and I walk into the other room. "He's straight."
"He must be bi or pans, I don't know. Maybe you're an exception. All I know is he's attracted to you. He has to be," he replies. "Even if he doesn't know it. He has to be on some level, even deep down."
"So he could be straight, but that's only because he doesn't know his feelings?" I ask. Lucifer nods. "Great, thanks for the help." Sarcasm. I walk back to the living room to see them all talking to each other. "Dee, we can go home now. Samandriel, Gabe, time to go with Luce."
The three of them nod, getting up. "Sorry about your soulmate, Castiel," Sam says. I nod softly.
Dean and I get in his Impala and start the drive back. "He passed away..?" Dean asks softly.
"Yeah," I lie.
"Cass?" Dean asks. "What are you hiding?"
"Fucks sake, Dee. Drop it," I say. Dean huffs, putting his attention back on the road.
Charlie: Happy birthday, Cassie! Kevin says that too. What's your engraving?!
Me: Can I tell you something? Don't freak out
Charlie: Of course
Me: Dee is my soulmate. Don't ask why. Don't tell anyone. Don't tell him. You can tell Kevin QUIETLY but don't tell anyone
Charlie: OMG WHAT HOW DOES HE NOT KNOW
Me: Because I'm keeping it covered up. Until he admits he has feelings for me or he somehow finds it, I'm not telling him
Charlie: WHY NOT?!?!
Me: Calm. Down. He doesn't even know my feelings, let alone being my soulmate. It's for life. He could actually leave
Charlie: ........okay. That's understandable. Just know I ship Destiel
I let out a snort. Dean looks over at me like I'm crazy. "Sorry, Dee. Something Charlie said."
Me: Dee just looked at me like I'm crazy bc of my reaction
Charlie: LMAO well Destiel is an actual ship now that you're soulmates. Just you're not really together
Me: Well thank you for the happy birthday
•••
It's been two months since then. The people who had annoyed Dean have now started to bully me. But because I'm an Angel, I heal before anyone finds out. I don't use my powers very often, in fear someone might find out. I'm waiting for Dean in the cafeteria, because today we decided that we'd sit together. As I'm walking to my seat, someone shoves me to the floor. Alistair.
"Hey, nerd. You finally in here today?" Alistair asks. I nod softly. A whole crowd surrounds us and a couple people start to kick me. I try to hold in my powers, trying not to show them. I cower, trying to protect my wings. "How's this feel, huh?!"
Alistair kicks me in the face, and I break. "That's enough!" I yell, flinging everyone to a wall. I stand up and take off my trench coat. "You happy, Alistair?! I'm done with you constantly pushing me around!" I see Charlie and Kevin pressed up on the wall, and I drop them. "Sorry, guys. Didn't see you there." They slowly walk over to me and I heal their wounds.
"Cass..?" Dean asks. I turn around, seeing Dean staring at my black wings.
"Dee..." I say softly. I drop everyone from the wall except the five people who were beating me. I walk over to the wall, seeing them all lined up in a row.
"So the Winchester is your best friend?" Alistair laughs. I roll my eyes, looking at the four others.
"Raphael, Metatron, Michael, and Uriel. You had to join in on him, huh?" I ask.
"Cass, stop it!" Dean yells. I drop them to the floor and walk over to Dean. "I told you to tell me if you got bullied."
"I couldn't, Dee. I had no evidence. You don't see anyone else here with wings, do you?" I ask. He laughs softly, shaking his head. "A lot of things have changed since my birthday." I softly grab onto Dean's wrist, showing him the engraving of my wings. He scrunches up his face in confusion. "That's why I don't have an engraving. Because my wings will always match my soulmates' engraving."
"We're..?" Dean asks softly.
I nod. I look around, making sure that nobody heard. Nobody did. Dean and I stare at the floor, waiting for the either one to talk. Probably minutes passed by. Somebody cuts my cheek and I scream in pain. I look over and see Alistair standing there with my angel blade.
"That's mine!" I yell. Dean and Alistair watch I put my hand to my face, healing the wound. I hold my hand out and the blade instantly goes from his hand to mine. I hold my hand out to my trench coat and it's now in my hand. "Didn't think it would be that easy to kill an Angel, huh?"
"An Angel?" Dean and Alistair ask.
"Lucifer, God, Naomi, Hannah, Balthazar. High school cafeteria. Now please," I say, looking to the ceiling. Then, I see everyone watching, on the ground by the walls of the cafeteria. The only people near me are Alistair and Dean. I hear a flutter of wings and smile. Everyone gasps. I turn around, seeing the five of them standing there. Their wings are showing and their jackets in their hands.
"Castiel, what happened here?" Dad asks, looking around.
"Is this...God?" Alistair asks quietly.
"Alistair," Dad says. He walks over to me and glares at Alistair. "Just because you don't have a family doesn't mean you have to ruin mine and the Winchester's."
I laugh, not being able to contain it. "Yes, my father is God. Thanks for catching up, everyone."
"Why did everyone find out?" Balthazar asks.
"Uriel, Raphael, Metatron, and Michael joined in."
"The Angels?" Dad asks.
"What?" We ask.
"I-I'm sorry, God," Metatron says, walking over to us. The other three following. "I knew his name, but I didn't know why. If I knew he was an Archangel, born straight from you, I wouldn't have done anything."
"I'm a what?" I ask.
Dad sighs. "I didn't want to tell him that. He's only 18." Metatron looks to the ground in embarrassment. "Archangel. More powerful than an Angel. Direct bloodline from me."
I look over to Dean, seeing him still staring at my wings. "I'll be back, Dad." I put my hand on Dean's shoulder, and we're instantly in our apartment. Dean stumbles, looking around us in shock.
"Dammit, Cass! Warn me next time!" He says.
"I'm sorry, Dee. I didn't want to continue this conversation with my family and everyone else around." I fold my wings behind my back, so his gaze now falls onto my eyes. "Are you okay..?"
"No, I'm not okay! You're not only my soulmate, but you're an Angel!" Dean yells.
"Keep it down!" I reply loudly. "I don't need people praying for me 24/7. Plus, I'm an Archangel, not an Angel."
"What?" Dean asks.
I sigh, knowing he's talking about the praying. "If someone prays to me, then I can hear them." Dean looks down, thinking about what I said. He then looks up to me and waits for me to continue. "Dee, I didn't want you to find out like this. Trust me."
"Trust you?!" He yells.
"If you don't believe me, then I'll go," I sigh. Dean seems to snap out of his thoughts because he quickly rushes over to me and pulls me into a hug. I quickly pull away and squeal, seeing as he touched my wings. He stares at me in confusion as I spread my wings and look at them. The places he touched turn a light grey. "What the..?"
"Did...did I do that?" Dean asks.
"Y-yeah," I say softly. Dean walks forward and I take a step back. "You don't want to do that, Dean."
"What? Why not?" He asks, stepping back because I called him 'Dean'.
"Because I've been told what will happen if you do," I reply quietly.
"What? Why? What's going to happen?" Dean asks.
"I'd, uh, I'd get..." I trail off.
"You'd get..?" He asks. I glance down, he follows my gaze. I flip my gaze back to him and his eyes are blown wide. "O-oh, that." He looks around us in embarrassment.
"Yeah..." I say, doing the same as him. "It was, uh, probably because you grazed it. That's why it didn't happen that time." Dean nods. "Can we not make this awkward? We've been best friends for years, I didn't tell you because I don't want to lose you."
"What? No. You're not losing me," Dean says. "You're always going to be my best friend, okay? Nothing changed about that."
"Apparently God disagrees," I chuckle. "Wait, Dad? Come here, right now."
"I can't believe that actually works," Dean chuckles. Dad then appears to the side of us.
"Hello, Dean, Castiel. What do you need from me?" He asks.
"You're God, you're seriously asking us that?" Dean asks.
"We may be able to read minds, but that doesn't mean we know everything," Dad counters.
"You can what?!" Dean asks, looking at me.
I cover my face with my hands and sigh. "No, Dee. I didn't do that to you. Or maybe I did, without my knowledge. I don't know, okay? It's takes time to learn."
"Do-do you know?" Dean asks.
"Know what?" I ask, putting my hands down and looking at him.
"Castiel, if this about his engraving and your wings, then you should know something. So should you, Dean. I'll tell you first, Castiel, because it's not like Dean can fly away."
Dean looks at Him with shock and worry. I walk to the couch and take a seat, Dean and Dad on the two recliners. We both look at Dad and wait for him to talk. He just looks down, so I sigh. "What's going on?"
"Dean likes you," Dad says.
"Way to be blunt," Dean groans, covering his face.
"Dean, Castiel likes you." Dean instantly lifts his head and stares into my eyes. We both look at each other in shock. "Ever since you were kids, the two of you liked each other. I knew Castiel was having black wings ever since he was born, so when Dean turned 18, I gave him that engraving."
"You-you like me?" Dean asks. I avert my gaze and nod. "Since we were kids, same as me?" I nod again. "So that's when you found out you were gay." Again, I nod.
"Dad, you can leave now," I say quietly. Within the next second, he's gone. "Dee, I didn't like keeping things from you. Then when I turned 18, went to school? Everyone there likes you. I hate not being able to control some of this stuff. You don't even want to know Lisa's thoughts."
Dean lets out a soft chuckle at my last sentence. "All those times with those girls, I was trying to convince myself it wasn't true. I pushed it down, thinking you could never actually feel the same."
"Well, I get why you didn't tell me. At least we know now," I say. Dean nods.
"We're actually soulmates. I can't believe it."
Dean gets up from his chair and takes a seat next to me. I fold my wings against my back, away from his reach. "I still don't want you touching my wings."
Dean laughs, shaking his head. He hesitantly takes my hand with his. We both stare at our hands intertwined, so I softly squeeze for reassurance. Dean lets out a soft breath. "I'm fine with that."
"You know, Dee, I guess Charlie was right and wrong. First she thought it was gonna be Lisa. Turns out it was me. She's gonna be ecstatic," I laugh.
"I'm not gonna be the one to tell her," Dean replies quickly.
"Castiel. I wanted to let you know I talked to your supervisors. You may have your wings out, but they must be folded at all times."
I chuckle softly. "Thanks, Dad. I appreciate it. The coat was making my wings stiff."
"Just no flying, okay?"
"I won't," I reply.
"What'd he say?" Dean asks.
"I don't have to wear my trench coat 24/7. In the apartment, and at school, I'm allowed to have them out. I guess he was afraid of me lashing out again because I was afraid they were going to damage my wings. Also said that I can't fly when I'm there, for obvious reasons."
"I'm glad," Dean chuckles. "Flying would be awesome, though."
"I'm still gonna wear the coat at the apartment, though. Not all the time, but because I don't want to take any chances with you," I laugh.
"Whatever, Cass. So, what? Are we, like, together now?" Dean asks.
"I didn't hear anyone ask me out," I sass.
Dean rolls his eyes, chuckling. "Fine. Will you go out with me, Cass?"
"Why, yes I will, Dee," I reply, smiling over at him. I stand up, walking to the trench coat that got dropped to the floor when we first came to the apartment. I put on my trench coat and fix my wings so they're comfortable.
"You know, you look cute when you're doing that," Dean says.
"Shut up, Dee," I reply quietly. "I don't like being uncomfortable."
I walk back over to Dean and he puts an arm around my neck. He apparently picked up the controller as I was fixing them, so he turns on the TV. I lean my head on his shoulder, just taking in the bliss.
•••
"Ready, Cass?" Dean asks.
"We taking Baby or not?" I ask, holding my trench coat in my arms.
"If not, does that mean you're gonna fly?" He asks. I nod. "No, then."
I smile, taking his hand in mine. I chuckle as a bunch of kids fall over, losing their balance when Dean and I randomly show up. They were about to walk inside, but we blocked their path.
"Get off me!" One yells, shoving the others off of him. "Castiel?"
"Jack?" I ask. "What are you doing here?"
"I haven't seen you in a month. Decided to enroll here," he says, looking at the school. "I see you've told Dean."
"Which part?" I ask.
"Both. Soulmate and archangel," Jack says.
"They're what?!" The students getting off the ground ask.
"Thanks, Jack," I sigh.
"Let's go inside, Dee. I'm not supposed to have my wings out when I'm outside." Dean nods, so the three of us walk inside. Jack instantly walks to his locker, but everyone stares at me and Dean. I wrap a wing around Dean, making him look at me in shock. "As long it's not skin-on-wing contact, I'm good." Dean smiles at that and wraps one of his jacket-covered arms around me.
"What the hell? Why is Dean with him?!"
"Dammit, I wanted Dean!"
"Finally!" I chuckle. There's Charlie.
"Hey, Charlie," I say. She looks between the both of us before screeching. "You told him?!"
"She knew too?!" Dean complains.
"Shut it, Dee." Dean glares at me, in which I laugh.
"Ew!" I sigh, hearing Lisa's voice.
"Hello, Lisa," I say. Dean looks around, tugging me slightly so we can turn around.
"How'd you know she was there?" Dean asks.
"She said 'ew' about me," I say.
"What the hell? Oh God, can he read my mind?"
I break out into laughter, digging my head into his shoulder. "What?" Dean and Charlie ask.
"Lisa, were you in school yesterday?" I ask. She transfers her gaze to my wing around Dean.
"Is that...a wing?"
"It's a wing, yes. And yes, I can hear your thoughts. Please don't use my fathers name in vain."
"Shit," she mutters. "Uh, sorry?"
"No I'm not."
"No you're not," I reply.
"Fuck," she groans. Dean laughs, shaking his head. "Uh, guess I can't lie to you can I?"
"No."
She sighs in response. "What happened yesterday?"
"Well you would've gotten shoved against a wall if you were," Charlie butts in.
"Charlie, that was an accident. I thought you were with Kevin in the library again," I sigh.
"He can do that?" Lisa asks.
"Why is his wing around MY boyfriend?"
I scrunch up my face in confusion, folding my wings and pulling away from Dean. He looks at me in confusion. "Were you and Lisa dating?"
"Cass," Dean sighs. "No, she asked me out. I walked away from her, but she kept following me around."
"I thought he said yes?"
"Lisa, shut up!" I yell. Jack was apparently coming over, so he shoves me into the locker. He holds my arms to the lockers so I can't do anything. I glare at Lisa as I ignore the pain that shoots through my wings.
"Fuck, I forgot."
She scurries out of the room, making me glare at Jack. "Let me go." He drops my arms and moves away. "Stupid Nephilim beats Archangel rules." I look back, making sure my wings are okay. They are. I sigh, thinking about what happened. "Thank you, Jack."
Jack nods. "Just imagine yourself blocking out everyone's thoughts. Walking around, doing everyone without hearing their thoughts."
I close my eyes, doing as he says. I open them, seeing Dean and Charlie staring at me expectantly. "You okay, Cass?" Dean asks.
I nod. "Now you can only tell when they're lying. That is, until you turn the thoughts back on. Most angels keep it off, but I guess there's some times when it's useful."
"Thank you, Jack," I sigh.
•••
Throughout the day, people would come and congratulate Dean on finding his soulmate. They were too scared to talk to me, even my teachers. I kept my wings folded until Dean and I went back home.
About three months later, I started to leave my wings out. Dean took that as a sign he could touch them. I nodded in agreement when he asked for confirmation. That obviously lead to us having sex. But, I was ready for it. Dean and I agreed I would bottom, since he liked to dominate. I didn't mind.
So that's us now. We're laying in the bed after getting showering and cleaning up. Luckily, after that first time, they stop being so sensitive. It's only in one spot.
"Dee," I say quietly.
"Hmm?" He asks.
"I just remembered something," I say.
"And what was that?" He asks.
"You, uh, should've used a condom," I tell him.
"We're both clean, Cass. We were both tested. Plus, I'm pretty sure you would've been able to tell if I wasn't," he counters.
"I would be able to, but that's not the point."
"Did you not like it?" Dean asks hesitantly.
"No, no! I loved it, I swear," I reply quickly. Dean sighs in relief. "It has to do with being an Archangel."
"What could sex possibly have to do with being an Archangel?" He asks.
"It's, uh, never mind," I sigh.
"Cass, do I want to know?" Dean asks.
"No, you don't. So don't ask."
"Alright, but if something happens, I want to know." I nod softly. "Let's just go to sleep. I love you, Cass."
"I love you too, Dean."

Thanks so much for reading! I was thinking about doing a part 2 to this, with mpreg. It'll be shorter (I think), but I want to know your opinions on a part 2.
