Nezuko stepped out of her box.

Zenitsu: Tanjiro, Y/n. Did you think I joined the Demon Slayer Corps because I thought it was gonna be all sunshine and rainbows!? Guys like you should be erase from this world! Immediately! I will see to it you both pay.

He drew his sword.

Zenitsu: You two shall face justice! Don't ever disrespect the Corps!

In the Wisteria Family house, Nezuko got out of her box and everything seemed peaceful until.

???: Hi, Nezuko!

She turned and saw Zenitsu being weird.

Zenitsu: How are you today?

He got in her face and started chasing her around.

Zenitsu: Where are you going, Nezuko? Wait for me!

Tanjiro stopped this.

Tanjiro: Zenitsu! Stop following her already!

Zenitsu stared blankly for a second then went back to his giddy smile.

Zenitsu: Tan... ji... ro...

Zenitsu started chasing the siblings around, while this was happening Inosuke was sitting outside.

Inosuke: Man, I'm hungry.

The old lady walked behind Inosuke with a change of clothes.

Old lady: Pardon me, good sir. I cannot help but notice those clothes of yours are rather soiled. It would be my pleasure to clean them for you, so please wear these in the mealtime. I believe you will find them comfortable and pleasant to the touch.

Inosuke just stared at her.

Old lady: I was thinking of making some tempura for dinner. You know, something covered in batter and fried to a golden brown.

Inosuke took the change of clothes, put them on, and joined in the chasing of his friends.

Tanjiro: Don't you start chasing us, too, Inosuke!

Zenitsu: Save me, Tanjiro!

Y/n walked in with slightly longer hair and his repaired uniform back on.

Y/n: What's going on?

Tanjiro: Inosuke's gone crazy again!

Y/n: It's just one thing after another. Inosuke... (kicked Inosuke in the head) calm down.

Zenitsu: Phew.

Y/n: And as for you.

Zenitsu: Huh?

He kicked Zenitsu in the face.

Y/n: Respect women.

Tanjiro: Y/n, where were you? You weren't in your bed when we woke up.

Y/n: I don't sleep much these days, so I practiced more with Bird Breathing all night. I just got my uniform back.

Old lady: The damage to his uniform certainly was strange. His sleeve was completely gone and there were two big wholes in the back of it.

Y/n: Ma'am, would you leave us to talk for a bit?

Old lady: Why, certainly, Master Y/n.

She left and Zenitsu got up.

Zenitsu: Why did you kick me?!

Y/n: Because you're the most pathetic creature in the world. You chase poor girls around and run from any demon despite the fact that it's a low level one.

Zenitsu: You don't understand, Y/n. I'm just a weakling.

Y/n: That has got to be the most pitiful excuse I've ever heard.

He walked passed Zenitsu.

Y/n: Allow me to give some advice. Pray you'll have strength in your next life time, and slide your own belly.

This made the room more silent as Tanjiro and Zenitsu had shocked faces at what Y/n just said. Y/n was about to walk out until Tanjiro yelled...

Tanjiro: Y/n!

Y/n: (turns around with an intimidating look) What is it?

Tanjiro stepped back in fear and Y/n continued to leave.

Later.

Tanjiro: We're all heal up now.

Inosuke: Now, we just kick back and wait for our next mission.

Y/n: I already sent Hatake for it.

Just like that, Hatake flew in and landed on Y/n's shoulders along with Matsuemon.

Y/n: You both got something for us?

Hatake: Your next mission is-

Matsuemon: North-northeast!

Hatake: What that loud mouth said.

Y/n: What's at North-northeast exactly.

Hatake: You and your friends are to go to Mount Natagumo!

Y/n patted Hatake's head.

Y/n: Thank you.

Everyone got their uniforms back on and were about to head on there way with the old lady seeing them off.

Tanjiro: We're heading out. Thank you for everything.

Y/n: We are most grateful.

The two along with Zenitsu bowed their heads and the lady bowed back. Along with that she pulled out coal and flint.

Old lady: I'll pesto good luck upon you.

Y/n: That's not necessary, but we appreciate the thought.

They turned and the lady started a spark which caused Inosuke to yell.

Inosuke: What do you think you're doing?!

Tanjiro and Y/n held him back while Zenitsu defended the old lady.

Zenitsu: What are you doing?! It ceremonial! We're going on a journey and striking sparks is for luck!

They were able to calm him down.

Old lady: Always wear your lives in a fashion where you are always able to hold your heads high. I wish you luck in battle.

Y/n: Thank you very much.

They went on there way and they started small talk.

Inosuke: "Heads up high"? "Luck in battle"? What's that mean?

Y/n: "Head up high", means to always be happy about ourselves. And luck in battle means she's praying that we'll leave this battle safely.

Inosuke: Why would that old hag pray for our safety in the first place. She has nothing to do with us. So what's her game, huh?

Y/n: It's called being a good person, not like you would even know what that means.

Inosuke: Well, what's happening with you? Your hair is longer now.

Y/n: Yeah, that's a thing that happens with humans.

Tanjiro: Didn't you want to be as unrecognizable as possible?

Y/n: I did...

Flashback.

He was walking with Nezuko in the mansion.

Nezuko: Your hair is shorter than I remember, Y/n.

Y/n: Yeah, I had Tanjiro cut it while you were sleeping.

Nezuko: Shame. I kinda liked it long.

Y/n blushed a bit under his mask.

Y/n: Well, I could let grow again if you want.

Nezuko: Would you be okay with it?

Y/n: Yeah, it's just hair after all.

Flashback end.

Y/n: I changed my mind.

Tanjiro: Okay, let's talk about the training you did last night. How far did you get?

Y/n: I mostly worked on Bird Breathing. I mastered the first form and even made a second and third form.

Zenitsu: (Thinking: He just made that technique a day ago and it already has three forms? Unreal.)

Inosuke: Well then, I'm just gonna have to fight you!

Y/n: If we survive this mission, we'll have a little spare. How's that sound?

Inosuke: Fine, I guess.

At nightfall.

They made it to the outside of Mount Natagumo.

Y/n: Looks like this the place.

Zenitsu: Everyone! We need to pause here!

Tanjiro: Zenitsu? What's wrong?

Zenitsu curled up and cried.

Zenitsu: I'm nervous, okay? Now that we're nearing our destination, I'm scared!

Inosuke: Why the hell is he sitting like that? It's pretty weird, if you ask me.

Zenitsu: Who are you to talk to me about weird? You can't tell me you're not getting any spooky vibes from that mountain?

Y/n: Not everyone's a pants pissing coward like you, Zenitsu.

Tanjiro: What is this smell?

He ran closer to the mountain and the others followed behind him. They kept running until they were right outside the mountain's forest and saw another Demon Slayer on the ground in tears.

Demon Slayer: Help me.

Tanjiro: Look at his uniform! That boy, he's one of us!

They ran to check on him.

Tanjiro: Are you all right? What happened?

Suddenly, the Demon Slayer flew into the forest.

Y/n: I'm picking up a demon's presence. Not just one, but many.

Tanjiro: How many would you say?

Y/n: Five. No, seven. Definitely seven.

Zenitsu: You can feel that?!

Tanjiro: I'm going in.

Inosuke: I'll head in first. You stay behind me, trembling like a scared little animal. This is making me hungry.

Tanjiro: Inosuke...

Zenitsu: Why's he such a show off?

Y/n: Don't worry, you can stay here and cry like a little baby all you want.

They ran inside the forest and they kept running up the mountain until Inosuke ran into some webs.

Inosuke: Huh? What is this?

Y/n: It looks like a spider web.

They looked around and saw there were lots of them.

Inosuke: This place is full of them, as far as the eye can see! What a pain!

He threw the webs off of his hands.

Tanjiro: Inosuke.

Inosuke: What do you want?

Tanjiro: I appreciate this.

Inosuke: What?

Tanjiro: When you said you were going to check things out with us, I was relieved. That ominous scent from the mountain scared me a bit, so having you and Y/n here makes me feel better. So thanks.

Inosuke just stared at Tanjiro like he stared at the old lady.

Tanjiro: Inosuke, Y/n.

They saw someone walking in the near distance.

Y/n: I see them.

Tanjiro: Let's go.

As they got closer, they saw it was another male Demon Slayer who freaked out when Tanjiro tapped his shoulder.

Tanjiro: (Whispering: We've come to help out. I'm Tanjiro Kamado, Rank Mizunoto.)

Y/n: And I'm Y/n L/n, Rank Mizunoe.

Demon Slayer: Mizunoto and Mizunoe? You serious? They should have sent us a Hashira. No matter how many Mizunoto and Mizunoe they send in, it won't be enough.

He suddenly got punched in the face by Inosuke.

Tanjiro: Inosuke!

Y/n: No. This pathetic winer deserved it.

Inosuke grabbed the Demon Slayer by his hair.

Inosuke: Now, how about you tell us just what is going on here?

Demon Slayer: Who do you think you're talking to? Did you forget I have seniority?! The crow gave us orders to come to this place! And ten of us Corps members gathered here. Not long after we entered the mountain, that's when it started. The Slayers started killing each other! I was... I was so...

Meanwhile.

An exhausted Crow laid in the lap of the man in the shadows.

Man: You did well to return. It would appear that most of my children have been killed. You may very well find the Twelve Kizuki there. It would seem I'll have to send in some Hashira.

Giyu was behind him along with a smiling young woman with purple eyes and hair, a purple Demon Slayer uniform, and a butterfly pattern haori.

Man: Giyu and Shinobu.

Tomioka/Shinobu: Understood!

Shinobu: If only humans and demons could get along with each other. Wouldn't you agree, Tomioka?

Tomioka: That's a pipe dream. As long as demons hunt us.

With Zenitsu.

Zenitsu: I wonder if the others hate me. With someone normally leave their friend behind like this? You'd talk them through it if you were close, wouldn't you. If they had tried to convince me to go, I would have. But instead, they all went on their merry way up that scary mountain. Leaving poor little me all alone. But then again, I'm sure Y/n would like that.

Remembering what Y/n said.

Y/n: Pray you'll have strength in your next life time, and slide your own belly.

Zenitsu: I'm sure he'd be glad if I died.

He heard his sparrow chirping.

Sparrow: (Translation: Sulking doesn't do any good. You have to go help your friends now.)

Zenitsu: You don't have a care in the world, do you? All our human problems, you have no idea.

His sparrow bit his hand.

Zenitsu: Ow! You think you're being cute right now? Well, you're really not! I don't like this side of you one tiny bit! Why can't you take some notes from Nezuko? She's adorable and she's a demon! Huh.

He remembered Tanjiro had Nezuko in her box with him.

Zenitsu: Ah! I just realized he took Nezuko along with him!

He ran in the forest.

Zenitsu: Why did he have to go and take my precious Nezuko like that!? Damn you, Tanjiro! Damn you, Y/n! Taking a young girl like her into danger! Idiots! Idiots! Idiots! I'll save you, Nezuko!

Back with Tanjiro and the rest.

They started to hear a rattling sound.

Tanjiro: That sound, what is it?

Demon Slayer: Not again. I heard this sound before! It's the sound I heard the moment before everyone started to kill each other!

Tanjiro: Where's it coming from.

A bunch of Demon Slayers came out of the shadows and started to attack them, but they were able to dodge every strike.

Inosuke: These guys morons or something? They don't know that it's taboo for us Demon Slayers to fight each other!

Tanjiro: That's not it!

Y/n: They look like they're being forced to do this, and if you look closely, you'll see that some of these guys are dead.

Inosuke: If that's the case (unwraps his swords) I'm going to cut them to pieces!

Tanjiro: You can't do that! He said some are dead! Besides, the bodies of the ones that aren't are still our teammates!

Inosuke: Listen you, stop denying me at every turn!

Inosuke headbutted Tanjiro's stomach as the puppet Demon Slayers were fighting the one on their side, Inosuke stopped the one who attempted a sneak attack while Tanjiro stopped the one in the front.

Tanjiro: (Thinking: I got a strange sweet scent from his back!)

Tanjiro cut what looked to be threads to that guys back.

Tanjiro: It's threads! They're being controlled by threads! Cut them off!

Inosuke cut the thread off of four Slayers while Y/n used his wind blade to cut five free.

Inosuke: I already knew that before you caught on!

Y/n took the five Slayers swords.

Y/n: Hope they won't mind me keeping these.

Tanjiro: (Thinking: Where's the location of the demon controlling them?)

He sniffed the air and covered his nose.

Tanjiro: (Thinking: What's that revolting odor! It was just for a second though!)

He looked at his arm and saw some spiders crawling on it.

Tanjiro: Spiders?

Threads pulled his arms, but he cut the threads and the spiders scurried away.

Tanjiro: I get it! The spiders are just attaching people to the puppet strings! That means...

The Slayers that got their threads cut got back up.

Tanjiro: Cutting the threads isn't enough! The spiders will just replace them, so we...

He covered his nose.

Tanjiro: That horrible smell again! What is it? It's coming from far away!

Inosuke: So, all we gotta do is annihilate those damn insects, huh?

Y/n: Spiders aren't insects, they're arachnids.

Tanjiro: Either way, they're too small, and there's got to be at least a million of them! We gotta find the demon and that's controlling them instead!

Inosuke: Got it!

Tanjiro: Listen, if you have some kind of power to pinpoint the demon's location, that would really help! This disgusting smell has been flowing in, but I just can't tell where it's from!

He looked at the Demon Slayer that wasn't being controlled.

Tanjiro: You there, your name.

Murata: It's Murata!

Tanjiro: Murata! The three of us will take care of the people being controlled! In the meantime...

A shadow loomed over them and it revealed to be a short demon, with white hair, white skin, a blue right red eye with blue irises while his other eye was covered by his hair, red dots on his face, and he was wearing a white kimono with spider webs ingrained on it seemingly standing on air.

Demon: I will not let you disturb my family's peaceful life.

Tanjiro: (Thinking: He's floating? No, he's standing on the threads. His family?)

Demon: Mother will be sure to make quick work of all of you.

Tanjiro: Who's mother?

Inosuke tried to get him but missed. The demon walked away.

Inosuke: Damn you! Where the hell do you think you're going? Fight me! Fight-

He hit the ground.

Tanjiro: You all right, Inosuke?

Inosuke quickly got up.

Inosuke: Why did he even show up anyway?

Tanjiro: I don't think he's the demon that's controlling our people with those threads! We can't focus on him now.

Inosuke: Okay, okay, okay! I get it, all right? You want me to go find the one who is! Shut up about it already!

He put his two swords into the ground and put his hands out to side.

Inosuke: Beast Breathing, Seventh Form: Spatial Awareness!

He started to feel the air around him and after a few seconds, he got something.

Inosuke: I found you, you demon!

The small demon watched over the forest.

Demon: I won't let anyone get in our way. The seven of us are going to live in happiness as a family. No one on this mortal plain will tear us apart.

Zenitsu: Nezuko! Tanjiro! Where are you?

Sparrow: (Translation: First, let's calm down and listen to our surroundings.)

Zenitsu: Nezuko's in danger! Hurry and help me find her, Chuntaro!

Ukogi: (Translation: I told you to calm down! Now, it's time for a Taisho-era secret! My real name is Ukogi. That's because my favorite food is ukogi rice. But Zenitsu hasn't noticed yet, so all I get is beans.)

Zenitsu: What are you so mad about?

He pulled out a ukogi rice ball.

Zenitsu: Have some of this.

Ukogi flew to it excitedly.

Ukogi: (Translation: It's an ukogi rice ball!)

Zenitsu: When you're done eating that, I really need you to help look for her.

Ukogi: (Translation: He must be really worried. I guess this is why I just can't hate him.)

Zenitsu: Next, Chapter 16, "Letting Someone Else Go First."
