Red Pov

Nicholas

As I left Mr. Caddel's office, his name kept echoing in my mind. I couldn't believe he allowed me to call him that in private. It made my stomach flutter with butterflies. Back in high school, I used to hear girls talk about this feeling in the restroom, but I dismissed it, thinking they were being silly. I mean, butterflies don't actually live in your stomach, right? It was just an expression. I had never felt this way about a boy before, let alone a grown man like Mr. Caddel. No matter how attractive the boys at school were, they had never made me feel so confused or made my heart race like he did.

"Red," Ana's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Oh, sorry Ana... I just zoned out," I replied, briefly explaining my distraction without revealing the real reason behind it. It was lunchtime, but I didn't have much of an appetite. Since I was going out with Nicholas after his meeting, I thought it would be best to just have a chocolate bar.

"So, what are you wearing for your date?" Jacob wiggled his eyebrows, and I felt my cheeks flush.

"It's not a date... we're just hanging out, no big deal," I shrugged, trying to downplay the situation and let them know how nervous I was.

"Yeah, right," Dean rolled his eyes. "Red, you're about to hang out with Mr. Caddel alone. That's a big deal if you ask me." He emphasized his point, and I couldn't help but acknowledge the truth in his words.

What was I thinking when I agreed to this?

"You wanted alone time with him," Reyes chimed in.

"It's your fault!" I accused him, remembering how he had suggested this crazy idea, and foolishly, I had fallen for it.

"Whatever, love. Just get ready. He's almost done with the meeting," Reyes's words shocked me.

"How do you know that the meeting is almost done? Are you stalking him too?" I asked, not pleased with the implications.

"No," he simply replied.

"Reyes," I warned.

He didn't respond, leaving me wondering if I had said something wrong. I was just curious about how he seemed to know so much about Nicholas. My heart started pounding hard as I silently repeated his name in my mind.

Was that weird?

*Ding!*

A message popped up on my phone, and my eyes widened as I saw who it was from and what it said.

"What is it?" Ana must have sensed the sudden change in my demeanor, and before I could answer, she snatched the phone from my hand and read the message.

"No way!" She almost yelled, but quickly composed herself. The others gathered around her, curious about her reaction.

' looking forward to the date, meet you in fifteen'- Nicholas

"Nicolas," they said in unison, their expressions a mix of disbelief, confusion, and amusement.

"Since when did you start calling him by his first name?" Avery asked, a mischievous smirk on her face. I took my phone back from Ana and adjusted my uniform nervously.

"He said it's a date," Jacob smirked, playfully nudging my shoulder.

I suddenly felt the heat rise in my cheeks.

"Like I said before, it's no big deal. Plus, I only call him that when we're alone," I pointed out, causing their eyes to nearly pop out of their sockets.

"Like I said before, you, my dear, are the greatest thing that has happened in this school," Ana laughed, making me roll my eyes with a smile.

"Well, you can't keep a man waiting. You need to get going," Jacob said, reminding me that I only had fifteen minutes before I was supposed to meet Nicholas.

"Oh no, I don't have anything to wear!" I whined internally.

"Don't worry about it. I've got you covered," Ana winked, noticing my worry.

"Thanks, guys. Also, no one must know about this," I emphasized, making sure they understood the importance of keeping my outing with Nicholas a secret, especially if word got out that I went to the human realm alone with him.

"Avery, please tell Ana that it's not a date, and I shouldn't be wearing this," I pleaded, holding up one of my old clothes and contemplating whether to borrow some accessories from Ava. However, Avery dismissed my choice, insisting that I wear a crisp white top and a short patterned skirt that flowed gracefully.

"Come on, Red, you look cute enough. Besides, I'm sure Nicholas won't mind a little temptation," Avery chuckled mischievously, followed by Ana's laughter. Ever since they had noticed how deeply affected I was whenever Nicholas's name was mentioned, they took delight in teasing me.

"Fine, but can I at least take off the skirt?" I whined, attempting to pull it down, but Ana swiftly swatted my hands away.

"No way! You look absolutely sexy in this. I always knew your skin was flawless, but now you're on fire," Ana complimented with a grin.

"Thanks," I replied, about to steal another glance at myself in the mirror when a notification chimed on my phone. I already knew who it was from and hastily unlocked my phone, confirming my suspicion.

'All done. Meet me at the back of the school.' - Nicholas

Oh no! I had completely forgotten.

How on earth was I supposed to leave the room looking like this?

"Guys, he said I should meet him at the back of the school, but how-" I began to panic, but Avery interrupted me, gripping my shoulders firmly.

"Take a deep breath and step back," she advised, her voice calm and reassuring.

"I'll teleport you there," she stated matter-of-factly.

"You can do that?" I questioned, a hint of skepticism in my voice.

"Red, I'm one of the most powerful dark witches in this academy. I can do much more than that," she boasted, a twinkle of pride in her eyes.

"You might want to close your eyes. Trust me, it's safer," Ana suggested, nodding in agreement with Avery's plan.

Following their advice, I closed my eyes slowly, my heart racing with anticipation and anxiety. "Don't forget to bring goodies," Ana whispered mischievously. Suddenly, Avery began reciting incantations in a language I couldn't understand. I waited patiently, expecting to feel a surge of energy or a disorienting sensation, but to my surprise, nothing happened.

Gradually, I felt a gentle breeze caressing my face, and with trepidation, I cautiously opened my eyes. To my astonishment, I found myself standing outside the school, at the back as Nicholas had instructed. I turned around, confirming that it was indeed the rear of the building. Without wasting another moment, I began scanning the area, searching for any sign of Nicholas. As I wandered, straining my ears, I caught the sound of two deep voices in conversation. One of them was unmistakably Nicholas's.

Curiosity piqued, I approached cautiously, trying to catch a glimpse of the person he was talking to. However, their faces remained obscured. Nicholas appeared tense, his brows furrowed as he engaged in the conversation. Uncertain whether to interrupt or continue my search, I hesitated.

But my indecision vanished when our eyes finally met.

In an instant, Nicholas's frown dissolved into a radiant smile as his gaze locked with mine. I didn't know how to respond, so I returned his smile, a shy and subtle one. Slowly, I made my way towards him, disregarding the mysterious man who had been conversing with Nicholas. The man, recognizing my presence, gave a brief bow before departing.

That's peculiar, I thought to myself.

"Who was that?" I inquired, closing the distance between us.

"Hello to you too, Red?" Nicholas playfully deflected my question, his smile still intact. His baby blue eyes sparkled with warmth, and I couldn't help but notice the subtle glint of his fangs, far less pronounced than Xavier's.

Speaking of Xavier, I haven't seen him around lately.

"Hello to you too, Mr. Cad- I mean, Nicholas," I corrected myself, realizing he was about to frown when I nearly addressed him by his formal name.

"I know it feels strange for you to call me by my first name, but with time, it will become as natural as if you've been saying it all your life," he assured me, his voice tinged with a hint of playfulness that left me momentarily bewildered.

I quickly shrugged off the confusion and finally took notice of his attire. He wore a sleek black top that accentuated his physique, paired with well-fitted black jeans. Despite its simplicity, he exuded an undeniable charm.

"You look lovely," he complimented, his eyes leisurely tracing the contours of my outfit, lingering appreciatively on the skirt. I felt my cheeks flush under his gaze.

"You look... uh, handsome," I stammered, and he chuckled, deepening the captivating dimples adorning his cheeks with every laugh.

'You're a goner, Red,' a voice inside my head whispered, not Reyes this time, but my own conscience feeling sorry for me.

And it was right. I was indeed a goner.

But strangely enough, I relished in the feeling.

"Shall we?" Nicholas gestured with a graceful sweep of his hand, prompting me to follow his lead. As I trailed behind him, I couldn't help but notice the sleek, black Jeep parked nearby, seemingly blending in effortlessly with the surroundings.

How did I not notice this imposing vehicle before?

'How could you, when you were too busy ogling Nicholas?' I chided myself internally.

With a nod of my head, I approached the car, my hand reaching out instinctively for the door handle. Just as I was about to grasp it, Nicholas's hand effortlessly beat me to it, opening the car door in a chivalrous gesture.

"Ladies first," he grinned, his eyes subtly gleaming with an enchanting allure. I shyly nodded my appreciation and gracefully slid into the car, murmuring a quick ' thank you' under my breath. As I settled into the plush seat, a wave of his mesmerizing scent enveloped me, leaving me intoxicated by its allure.

His scent was intoxicatingly good.

Nicholas smoothly slipped into the driver's seat, his confident presence filling the vehicle. I couldn't believe I was sitting so close to him, without succumbing to my usual bouts of nervousness. A nervous excitement simmered beneath the surface, but it was surprisingly tempered by a sense of tranquility in his presence. I found myself stealing occasional glances at his well-defined muscles and the veins subtly coursing through his hands as he confidently started the car.

I think I should pray.

Hope you enjoy this Chapter ❤
