Chapter 40: Tangled Desires
| RED'S POV |
"Wait... hold up. So what you're saying is that there's a doppelganger of you?" I asked Xavier, still trying to wrap my head around his previous statement.
"Yes," he replied, sounding slightly annoyed. "This is why I didn't want to tell you in the first place," he added, closing his eyes momentarily, as if collecting his thoughts.
"That guy devouring Aubrey's lips like a starved maniac isn't me in any way. He's a shapeshifter that Aubrey had a regrettable encounter with a long time ago."
"Oh," I finally understood, the pieces falling into place.
"So he agreed to impersonate you as long as he got a taste of her?" He stated.
"Meaning?" I questioned, feeling lost. A peculiar smile creeping onto his face. He leaned in close to my ear and whispered, "Meaning they're going to have sex right here, Red. She'll think it's me and perform her best."
Heat rushed to my face, and I instinctively pushed him away, feeling a mix of embarrassment and discomfort.
"Haha... You should see your face," he began, but I quickly covered his mouth with my hand, fearing we might attract unwanted attention since Miss Alyssn...
Oh crap, I forgot about her.
What if she comes here and finds out, or worse, reports to the teachers about hearing strange sounds? Not that I would blame her, considering what Aubrey and Jacob are up to.
"Xavier, what about Miss Alyssn?" I whispered urgently, trying to keep my voice low.
"Wragbt abuts har," he mumbled with my hand still covering his mouth. I realized my mistake and sheepishly removed my hand, apologizing quickly.
"Sorry," I said, and he nodded in understanding.
"I said, what about her?" he repeated.
"Dude... She could come here any minute. What are we going to do then?" I expressed my concern.
"Oh... don't worry, I have that covered," he replied casually, slipping his left hand into his jean pocket, his attention still fixed on Aubrey and the imposter.
"How? Did you... kill her?" I ventured cautiously, half-jokingly. He responded by jabbing my head with his middle finger.
"With all the reading you've done here, you're not that smart, are you?" he retorted.
"What do you mean?" I rubbed my head where he poked me, still feeling a slight pain.
"I just told her there was a teacher meeting, and it's true, by the way. Why do you think Jacob is having more fun than me right now?" he explained, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"Wait, you can hear him? What's he doing?" I inquired, curiosity getting the better of me.
"You don't want to know. You might have nightmares. But if you're interested, he's getting his dick sucked really..." He blurted out before I hastily interrupted him.
"It's okay. Sheesh, sorry I asked," I said, turning my face away and attempting to hide my flushed cheeks.
Change the subject, Red.
"Um... when will Fake Xavier start asking questions?" I coughed, trying to shift the conversation. Xavier smirked, aware of my attempt but chose not to mock me.
"Any second now. Let the guy have his fun," he replied, and I rolled my eyes, ignoring his comment and focusing on Avery, who seemed to be thoroughly enjoying herself.
When will I ever get kissed like that? Hidden with a hot guy, without the fear of getting caught? Aunt May said to have fun, but besides making new friends and proving my innocence, nothing exciting is happening. No drama. Sigh. Maybe it's better this way.
"Is Red getting turned on by this?" Xavier suddenly whispered, and I could feel his breath tickling my ear.
"What?" I didn't dare look at him, fearing that I might regret it.
"You know, we could have our own fun," he continued, moving even closer to my ear as if he wanted to kiss it. "I've been dying to taste those plump lips of yours, craving to suck them so badly."
Hell no!
I take it back, dear universe. When I said I wanted to get kissed, I didn't mean with Xavier!
How do I get out of this? I can't move, because if I do, Aubrey might notice and escape. But if I don't, Xavier might try to kiss me.
"Ah, Aubrey, you know how to turn a guy on with just a kiss," Fake Xavier's voice broke the tension, and I felt a sense of relief wash over me.
"Of course I do, Xavier. But don't worry, my lips are just for you," Aubrey responded, trying to undo Fake Xavier's belt.
"X-Xavier, they're already talking, so please behave," Xavier cursed under his breath, clearly perplexed and frustrated.
We start to focus on the scene going on between Aubrey and Fake Xavier and is pretty obvious where it will go.
"Wait... my sexy vixen," Fake Xavier interjected, his voice low and seductive, halting Aubrey's hands and drawing her closer to him. He pressed his lips against her neck, his touch possessive and intense. Aubrey couldn't help but emit a soft, pleasure-filled moan, succumbing to the allure of the moment.
"Ohh, you've changed, Xavier," she breathed, her voice laced with desire and a tinge of surprise at his newfound demeanor.
"Of course, babe... But I couldn't help but wonder why Red was here," Fake Xavier revealed, finally making headway in his investigation. His fingers deftly undid Aubrey's tie, flinging it aside in a careless gesture.
"I already told you Xavey bear," Aubrey replied, her nimble fingers now tracing a trail down Fake Xavier's chest as she spoke. "She wanted to know if I did it." Her words were accompanied by a mischievous smile, as if relishing in the thrill of their secret trysts.
"I always despised when she called me that," Xavier hissed, his irritation at the mention of his nickname palpable.
"No need to fret, darling. She's out of our lives now," Fake Xavier reassured her, planting a teasing kiss on her lips. It elicited a joyous laughter from Aubrey, a sound that resonated with an intoxicating blend of mischief and satisfaction.
"Exactly, good riddance," Aubrey affirmed, her hands now deftly unbuttoning Xavier's shirt, revealing the chiseled contours of his chest. As their passion escalated, I knew it was time for me to discreetly withdraw from the scene.
"You got that, Xavier?" Fake Xavier suddenly presented me with a video on his phone, capturing the intimate moment that had just transpired between him and Aubrey. Relief washed over me, and in a spontaneous act, I gently pecked his cheek, leaving him momentarily stunned.
"Now you've experienced the touch of my plump lips. Are you pleased?" I teased, attempting to inject levity into the situation.
"No," he smirked, his eyes sparkling mischievously while I playfully rolled my eyes in response.
"Let's make our exit. I can already hear her shouting your name," I urged, noticing the crescendo of Aubrey's voice growing louder and more agitated. Xavier chuckled warmly, intertwining his fingers with mine, leading us swiftly away from the unfolding scene.
We managed to slip out of the library, the weight of the truth lifted from my shoulders. Anticipation coursed through me as I eagerly anticipated the moment when everyone would discover Aubrey's true nature.
Ah, the look on Aubrey's face will be priceless.
"Are you alright?" Xavier's voice broke through my thoughts, his concern evident in his tone.
"Better than ever, actually," I replied, a genuine smile gracing my lips, my eyes meeting his.
"How does it feel to embrace your mischievous side for once?" I playfully withdrew my hand from his, lightly tapping his shoulder.
"How dare you? For your information, I was a wild card in my previous existence," he retorted, a mock pout crossing his features. Suddenly, I realized the weight of my slip of the tongue.
Oh, no! Did I just reveal too much?
"A wild card, I see..." Xavier's voice took on a tone of curiosity, leaving me feeling a twinge of unease. We found ourselves standing at the entrance of the library, the halls draped in an eerie silence, broken only by the distant hoot of an owl. I became acutely aware that I was alone with a vampire who had recently expressed a desire to kiss me.
"Look at the time," I muttered, avoiding his gaze and desperately searching for an escape route in my mind.
"It's getting late. You should leave," I suggested, taking slow steps backward, my mind racing with thoughts of how to extricate myself from this precarious situation.
The others can handle themselves.
Xavier shook his head, his gaze fixed on me as he began to advance, his movements slow and deliberate. His intense stare sent shivers down my spine, and I pressed my back against the solid library entrance, feeling the weight of my entrapment.
"Stop looking at me like that," I blurted out, unable to bear the intensity of his gaze as he closed the distance between us.
"Like what?" he whispered, his voice dropping to a husky, captivating timbre that sent chills coursing through my veins.
"Like you want to consume me whole," I gulped, a mixture of fear and anticipation gripping me as I realized the gravity of the situation I found myself trapped, my back pressed against the library entrance as Xavier's face drew nearer, mere inches away from mine. His breath, warm and tantalizing, caressed my skin, sending a wave of electric anticipation through me. There was no escape, and my heart pounded in my chest, the rhythm betraying my inner turmoil.
"Maybe I do," he whispered, his voice a velvety murmur that sent a jolt of both fear and desire coursing through me. The intensity of his words and the raw hunger in his eyes made my knees weaken and my mind spin with a mixture of apprehension and curiosity.
Before the charged atmosphere could consume us completely, a deep voice thundered through the silence, shattering the enchantment that had woven itself around us. The commanding presence sliced through the tension, and I tore my gaze away from Xavier to find the source of the interruption.
"N-Mr. Caddel?" I stammered, my voice barely more than a breathy whisper. My eyes widened as I recognized the figure before me. It was him-the man whose face I had memorized, whose smile had the power to both melt and ignite me. But now, there was no smile adorning his lips. Instead, his expression bore an unmistakable fury that made my heart lurch in my chest.
