Chapter 1 - First Impressions

( I think I'm this chapter, Zelda needs to be reminded of the saying "Never Judge A Book By Its Cover".... Definitely not foreshadowing there õwõ)

~Zelda's P.O.V ~

Zelda awoke to the sounds of her alarm. She reached up and grabbed her phone, shutting off her noisy alarm. Zelda found herself wondering why she had set her alarm for 5:00 A.M.

That's when she remembered. Today was going to be her first day. Her first day ever going to school...

She frowned. Zelda was going to be the new girl.

She slowly got out of bed and went to get an outfit for the day. She ended up in a long sleeved blue shirt, white undershirt w/ a collar, and black leggings.

After fixing everything else, she headed downstairs, ate a bowl of cereal, and set off for her first day of school

(Time skip brought to you by my super fluffy dog)

When Zelda finally got to the school, she scrambled around the Court Yard until she found Urbosa. The giant high school and the new people were a lot to take in. She needed Urbosa to help her.

When she found her, Urbosa was standing next to a bench and waving her down.

"Hey, little bird. You ready for this?" Zelda nodded, smiling. "Before anything else, though, who do I avoid?" Urbosa nodded slowly. "Tingle is probably mental, Beedle is the most annoying person to grace the Earth, and Ganondorf, with the help of his cronies, have actually managed to physically and mentally hurt people."

Zelda nodded slowly. "Are any of them in our class?" She asked. Urbosa shrugged. "I don't know. I only know what class my- our friends are in." Zelda smiled when Urbosa mentioned that they were now Zelda's friends as well. "Where are they?" Zelda asked, quizzical as always. Urbosa grinned.

"Behind you."

Zelda turned around. Behind her were two Zoras, a Goron, and a Hylian.

She gave the Hylian a skeptical look.

He looked terrified.

(Now go back in time a little for plot)

~Link's P.O.V ~

Link was lulled awake by the ringing of his alarm clock. Not wanting to put much effort into simply stopping an alarm clock, he rolled over, sticking his arm out, and ended up swiping the still ringing clock off his night stand, as well as his medications.

"Crap..." He grumbled, slowly blinking his eyes open. He sat up, shut off his clock properly, and picked up his medications.

Link sighed.

He didn't like having to bring something for his relentless anxiety in his pocket wherever he went, but the psychiatrist was adamant he did so. It didn't matter whether he liked it or not.

Link wished he could forget what happened.

He wished he could bring his father back. Wished he could even just talk to his mother, who was currently actively deployed.

He just wished it was different.

But wishing never did anything.

He already tried wishing.

He tried every day.

Every second of every day.

It was always in the back of his mind.

Rising to his feet, he turned got dressed, wearing a white undershirt, blue T-shirt, and tan pants. He made sure his belt was secured before going to brush his teeth. ( Big brother moment )

When he saw himself in the mirror, he froze for a moment. He could see the long, thin scar on his collar bone. He instinctively tugged at his undershirt, trying to hide the scar. Of course, it didn't work, but it never did. He sighed and moved on the best he could. However, when he walked into the kitchen, Aryll and Grandma could tell there was something wrong.

"Link? What's the matter, dear?" He froze, hand hovering over an apple.

"Nothing..." He shook his head and grabbed the apple.

Aryll grabbed his wrist, but he carefully pried her fingers off, despite her pleading look. "Let's go to school, Aryll." He kissed his Grandma on the cheek before scrambling out the door, keeping a tight grip on Aryll's hand. Not too tight though.

At least, he thought.

"Ah, Link...? Could you loosen your grip a little? You're hurting my hand." Link quickly let go, wide eyed and horrified with himself. Aryll noticed the look on his face. But Link spoke first, hands shaking and all.

"I-I'm so sorry, Aryll! I-I-I didn't mean t-to..! A-Are you.. Are you h-hurt?" Aryll slowly reached out, rubbing his arms.

"Hey, it's okay, Link. Deep breaths. I'm okay. You didn't hurt me. I'm fine...." Link was still a little shaky, but he was calming down. "Link, did you remember your meds?" He nodded slowly. "Okay. Good. Let's keep going."

Eventually, they made it to the school. Aryll still had to go to the middle school, so Link made sure she got inside safely before slipping into the Court Yard.

Link went to find his friends as quickly as possible. When in the Court Yard, there was safety in numbers.

If you're in a group, you'll probably get picked on.

If you're alone, you'll probably get punched.

Luckily, his friends were close. Sidon, Mipha, and Daruk were already there. Urbosa was talking to a blonde not too far away. Revali was busy being cool.

"Hey guys. Who's Urbosa talking to?" He asked, nodding to the blonde girl who was standing with her back turned to them, so he couldn't see her face.

Mipha was first to answer. "That's Zelda. She knows Urbosa, remember? "

He blinked. "Oh.... Yeah...." Daruk tilted his head. "Somthin' wrong, little guy?" Link shook his head.

Then, she turned around, and their eyes meet.

Zelda was really pretty.

Long, flowing blonde hair, emerald eyes, milky skin, and rosy cheeks. He sucked in a breath and turned away, cursing himself.

It was then Revali decided to come over.

Urbosa lead Zelda over to their group, but Link just kept starring at the ground.

"Zelda, meet Daruk, the Goron, Mipha and Sidon here are brother and sister, Revali just got here, and that..." Urbosa's voice trailed off when she got to Link, probably because he looked so nervous.

"Zelda, this is Link. He's... Nervous around new people. Don't worry, he'll come around." Zelda nodded slowly as Link slowly looked up. Her eyes were fixed on him. Luckily, his friends all introduced themselves first so he get a chance to find his voice.

"Hey there! I'm Daruk!"

"Why hello! Call me Sidon!"

"Hello, Zelda. My name is Mipha. Nice to meet you!"

"Call me Revali."

Link swallowed nervously. It was his turn.

He did his best to smile. "Uhm... H-Hello... My name is Link," his voice was pretty soft, but Zelda seemed to hear him.

Zelda nodded and cleared her throat. "Nice to meet all of you."

The bell rang.

Zelda smiled. She had a nice smile. "Shall we?"
