"So, L Lawliet... I never thought that'd be his actual name, I thought it'd have something to do with Ryuzaki..." Light thought out loud. He was sitting in his room, at home, Death Note before him, begging to have another name written by the original Kira, the one everyone either praised or was terrified of

"You've been talking about L for two hours, and you've known his name since this morning, just write the name so Misa can be happy" Rem said from behind him, the Shinigami hated Light, but loved Misa and would do anything to protect her... and both of them knew that

"Why don't you do it? You seem more impatient than I am, besides, I don't think it's a good idea to kill him just when he stops thinking I'm Kira..." it wasn't just that, L had stopped believing that two months before, but only the two of them knew. And... Rem wouldn't do anything like that, not even for Misa... right?

"Light! Misa is here!" Sayu called knocking on his door, the boy frowned, what was she doing there? He groaned and got up, walking downstairs, where Misa and Sayu were talking about some gossip

"Hi Misa, come with me" he said grabbing her arm and dragging her to his room "what are you doing here?" He asked once he had made sure they were alone and closed the door "why'd you come?"

The girl smiled "I wanted to be here when you wrote L's name in the Death Note"

Light closed his eyes, trying really hard to stop himself from killing her, and sighed "well, you'll have to come some other time because I'm not doing it yet, I just got off the hook, I'm not sacrificing myself just to kill him, it'd be too obvious that I killed him right after he let me go" he explained "do you don't have a reason to stay"

"Are you kicking me out?" Misa asked offended

Light walked out of his room and to the front door, opening it "I think I am...yeah" and he closed the door, heading back to his room and closing the door "so, are you going to kill me now for kicking her out or?"

"You will not die being happy, I'll make sure of that" Rem threatened, Light chuckled, there was no way Rem would kill anyone to protect her, not Light, L nor anyone, and Light hated that, his Light part hated it because he hated Rem and wanted to get rid of her, and his Kira part hated it because L was the biggest obstacle to get to the new world. His phone started ringing and he smiled as he picked up "Light, come quickly, something has happened... bring the Death Note" and the line went dead

"How is it possible that four people have died since we freed Light and Misa? This must be a set-up" Matsuda said. L glanced at Light, this wouldn't end well

"I don't think this was a set-up, I'm certain that this wasn't Kira" L said taking the Death Note from Light's hands

"What do you mean? The died in the same circumstances as most of his victims" Chief Yagami questioned

"Kira has proved that he's only one person, and he's just going to kill whoever gets in his way or maybe some criminals, these four people had nothing to do with him, in fact, two of them claimed that 'Kira was their God' so I don't think he had anything to do these deaths"

"Who was it then?" Matsuda asked, L looked at Light "you already said that Light wasn't related to Kira" he complained

"No, do you even listen to me? I said that he wasn't Kira, I never said he wasn't related to Kira" Light frowned, he knew what L meant

"If I'm related to Kira in any way, I'm not aware of it" he felt slightly threatened, he was extremely smart and intelligent, but when it came to fighting L mentally,he just couldn't, and, surprisingly, neither could L

"Well, it's getting late, we'll continue tomorrow, who wants to go out for dinner?" Aizawa asked, everyone agreed but L and Light "you're both staying?" The two of them looked at each other and nodded "okay then, bye"

And they were alone

"Light?" L asked breaking the silence, Light hummed in response "you had nothing to do with it... right?"

They were laying on Light's bed, L resting his head on Light's bare chest "you're accusing me again?" Light asked, not pissed but hating the fact that L was thinking he was Kira again, he really was now, but he just loved L too much to tell him the truth

"I'm not accusing you of anything, Light" L reassured "I'm just asking if you know anything I don't" he sat up "any idea on who may have done it?"

Light knew who did it, and L knew he knew, but nothing would be more convincing than Light telling him the truth, the brunette sat up "I-"

L knew he wouldn't get more than a lie, so he cut him with a soft kiss "don't say anything if it's not the truth" he said

Light smiled and pecked his lips "okay then... I love you" L chuckled and Light got up, taking L with him

"Baby, wake up" Light said softly, it was 10am, they had stayed up until 4 talking and cuddling, neither of them wanted to get up to go to work that morning, they just wanted to stay in bed all day and do nothing

"Don't want to" L said rubbing his eyes tiredly "I told you we shouldn't have stayed up after three" he complained as they sat up

"I have an idea... just tell Watari we're fine" Light smiled and L nodded as he was left alone in the room

Light walked to all the police officers, who greeted him "hey guys" he said raspily, Chief Yagami frowned and walked to his son

"Are you alright, Light?" He asked

"Yeah, it's just a cold, I'm alright" Light knew his father, and he knew he wouldn't let him stay out of his room any longer "well, let's get to work" he said

"You're going to bed and resting, Light, we can handle this" Soichiro said, Light sighed and started walking back to his room

"Where's Ryuzaki?" Matsuda asked, Light didn't have to think for too long before remembering they were alone for the whole night

"He wasn't feeling well last night, he's probably resting now, I'll make sure he's alright when I go to my room" everyone nodded and Light went back to his room

L looked up as Light walked into the room "how did that go?" He asked, the brunette smiled and got on the bed

"Well, we have the whole day for ourselves, but we can't be too loud" he smirked, only to get pushed off the bed by L "okay... that was uncalled for" he said pouting, getting on the bed again

L chuckled "you deserved it" Light smiled and kissed him

"Well kitten, what do you suggest we do today? I told them we weren't feeling well, so it can be fun" L smiled at the name, Light had been calling him 'kitten' for a few months, but he couldn't help but smile everytime

"I don't know... this wasn't my idea-"

"Light!" The door opened and Misa stood ouside, L looked at Light and back at her "what is going on here?" She asked frowning

Light sighed as L looked at him helpless "can I talk to you without you having you killing anyone?" He asked walking outside with her

"Why is he still alive?!" She asked angrily "and why is he in your bed?!" No, she was furious "I thought you were going to kill him as soon as you had the chance!" She yelled

The boy covered her mouth "shut up! He'll hear you" he whispered

"Oh, I'm sorry that the great Kira, god of th new world, didn't do his job when he was supposed to" she answered, sarcasm in her voice

"Look, you can hate me as much as you want, but don't mention the whole Kira thing here because-"

"I might hear?" Light closed his eyes and turned as Misa smirked "well, I already did, so you can just kill me now because I know the truth" L said, Light knew he was hurt, and he should be enjoying that and making sure he died, but he couldn't, he couldn't bare to see L like that

L left and Light glared at Misa "you're dead" he threatened "I knew you you were stupid, but how could you do that?" He exclaimed

"I wasn't going to let you get attached to him, you're with me, remember?"

"I already am! That's why I didn't kill him! And we're not together, we never were and we'll never be"

"You're attached to him? What's that supposed to mean?" She asked unsure of what Light meant

The boy sighed, getting annoyed "it means that I love him more than I thought could be possible, and I care about him" he confessed, Misa took a step back, tears forming in her eyes "oh, c'mon, you're the only one who didn't see it coming, even Matsuda knows that"

L was sitting on his bed, he was upset, but he tried his best not to show it. There was a soft knock on the door "go away" he said, but the door slowly opened "I told you to leave Light" he sighed

"Look, I- I'm sorry, but you know I couldn't tell you... you would've hated me even more" Light said softly walking to the bed and sitting next to him

"There's no way I could hate you more than I do now, if you had told me, then maybe I would've known what to do" L said, he couldn't bring himself to hate Light, not even knowing the truth, because, the truth is, in the moment he fell in love with Light, he believed he was Kira

"Hey, c'mon kitten-"

"Don't call me that" L frowned "just make up whatever you want and try to make me believe it and then leave. No petnames"

"Okay then... you left before you should've. I told Misa how I felt, I told her that I'm in love with you, L" Light said "I know you won't believe me now, but it's true... she asked me to kill you, but I couldn't, I never could since the day I met you"

"Liar" L said angrily "you said it, now leave" Light sighed but stayed there, Light looked at him "what? Why are you still here?" He questioned

"I am not lying" he responded

"Just as you weren't about not being Kira and wanting to help us?" L asked "remember how you were going to be 100% honest about everything related to the case?" Light nodded "then be honest about this... when and how?" Light frowned, he knew what he meant, but he didn't want to believe it "Light"

"I told you, I will never hurt you in any way" he answered "I love you, and you know I'm being truthful about this"

"You aren't, you just said you would never hurt me, but you are right now" it hurt Light to hear that knowing it was true "now, please, leave"

"No! I'm-"

"We'll see how much you love him. Two minutes left" Misa said from the doorway, but she didn't have the Death Note, Light started panicking, but L seemed calm "you're wasting your time Light"

"Misa, I swear to God, if something happens to him, I'll kill you" Light threatened walking to her "where's the-"

"Light?" Misa smiled and Rem appeared behind her, Light turned, just to see a worried L, the girl and the Shinigami exchanged a look and Rem turned into some kind of sand and ashes, the Death Note landing on top of the pile

Light didn't know what to do, he knew he had to get the Death Note before Misa and save L, but at the same time he just wanted to hold him. He pushed Misa aside and got the Note, rushing to get a pen to cross out the name of L Lawliet "yup, fifteen more seconds" the girl said happily, once Light was done, he turned to L, who looked at him confused, but then he noticed something he should've noticed before, L's name wasn't the only name that was written by Rem...

"I love you..." he choked out before collapsing onto the floor

"We could've been happy Light, you did this to yourself" Misa said before leaving

L got up and walked to Light, he was still alive but unconscious, he took the Death Note and read what it said Light Yagami, double heart attack, two minutes apart. 2:37pm, L glanced at the clock on the desk. 2:35pm. Shit

"He'll be fine" L told himself for the tenth time in the past two minutes, he had crossed out that whole line, but it just didn't feel right, something was definitely not okay and he hated the wait, he would work on the case, but knowing that he'd been right since the beginning wasn't a great distraction at that moment

He glanced at the Death Note one more time and remembered what Rem had said 'the human who uses this note can go neither to Heaven or to Hell' that was just fucked up! He sighed and headed to Light's room, he didn't know why, but he needed to be in there

Light's eyes futtered open, everything was dark and the only thing he could hear was the beeping sound of the heart monitor, but he didn't care about being in a hospital, he knew he was alone, he knew he deserved it... but he wished L was there

L, on the other hand, was trying his best to find Misa and not to kill her, but his thoughts kept going back to Light

"Light, take care, okay?" Light nodded, he was finally going home, back to L, he didn't even know if he was okay, but he didn't know how on earth he had survived when his name was written on the Death Note

The way to the building was long, probably the longest 25 minutes of his life. He got there and rushed to L's room, but it was empty. Where was he? He headed to his room and opened the door and there he was, sitting on Light's bed, working in his laptop, he looked up in shock as the brunette smiled fondly "hey, I missed you" he said walking to the bed and sitting next to L "anything new about the case?"

L glared at him "are you joking? You can't be serious" he said angrily

"You still hate me huh? After saving your life?" Light asked, but then it hit him, he was still alive, L must've saved him, he knew that was what had happened when L looked down "oh..." he said lowly

"Yeah..." the oldest of the two said not looking up. Light couldn't take it anymore, he kissed L on the cheek "what-"

"I missed you, for about two weeks I didn't know if you were fine... fuck, I- I didn't even know if you were alive, and that was just killing me" Light confessed "and, I've told you many times but I-"

He was cut by a kiss "I know... I love you too" L smiled looking into the brunette's eyes "I'm sory I never told you before"

"You didn't have to, kitten, I've always known" Light said softly

"But it took you long enough" L pointed out, Light chuckled "it would have been interesting to see how you were Kira while being with me and me not knowing... oh wait, that did happen"

Light rolled his eyes "that lasted for two days, before that, I had no idea of absolutely anything" he complained "and I think itt would've been really stupid of you to date me while believing I was a mass murderer" he said innocently

"Yeah, it would have... but I still loved you when I believed that" Light couldn't help but smile, why was L so adorable?

"What time is it?" Light asked after a few seconds of silence, L shrugged and glanced at the clock, showing it to Light. 5:17pm. "I want to show you something, come with me" he said before dragging L downstairs where everyone was working "I heard that Sakura TV is giving some new info on Kira" he informed, L looked at him confused as Aizawa turned the TV on

"And now, we got a new tape from Kira" the presenter said right before the tape began playing

"What did you do?" L whispered so only Light could hear him

"I'm Kira. From now on I won't kill anyone unless it's necessary for the creation of the new world, it has gotten to the point where the world isn't as rotten as it was in the beggining, it still is, but I've also realized that that not everyone nor everything brings me to kill who may be innocent in someone's eyes. I still will, however, make this a better and fair world for everyone to be happy in. And remember that I am justice, and justice will always prevail" the message ended and everyone in the room looked at each other confused, L and Light stayed in the back, silent, waiting for someone to  say something

"Does he think we're stupid?" Matsuda said irritated, Light frowned and went to speak, but L squeezed his hand, trying to keep him calm so that he's keep his promise

"I said it as Kira, not Light, and Light can still choke him to death if he wants to" Light muttered lowly as Matsuda kept trashing Kira

"Yeah, well... I'm stopping Light from choking him to death" L muttered back "we should see how that goes, it's been three years since the first death, and maybe there'll be someone making sure nothing happens" L said, everyone loooked at him

"Are you saying Kira will stop killing because there's someone with him?" Aizawa asked in disbelief, practically shouting "he's just a psycho who wants everyone to feel safe until he starts killing again, and you know you are his main target"

"That's just fucking ridiculous!" Light said angrily "I'm pretty sure Kira has grown up, at least a little bit"

"No, the only thing that'll change is that now there'll be two Kiras again, so we are in more danger than before" chief Yagami spoke, Light felt his blood boiling and started trembling slightly, no one noticed that but L, who squeezed his hand, but this time, nothing changed

"You all complain about Kira, but in fact, you're all like him, alll he wanted by publicly saying that was another chance, but you won't give him one, just like he didn't give another chance to all the people I killed" Ligh was so pissed off he almost continued, and it wouldn't have ended well for anyone in the room

"What?" Aizawa asked, a shocked look on everyone's face, L looked back and forth between him and Light, who apparently hadn't realized what he had just said

"What?" He asked even more confused

"You said 'I killed'" Matsuda said, Light froze, he glanced at L, who nodded sadly

"I didn't, why would I say 'I killed' when talking about Kira?" He was begining to panic

"Because, I don't know, you are Kira?" Aizawa challenged, reaching for his gun, Light took a step back

"I-" he stuttered "why would I have helped you if I really were? Wouldn't that be just stupid?"

"Light isn't Kira" L stated, trying to save Light's life once again "Misa is... it's been her all along"

"Can you prove that?" Soichiro asked

"You really believe your son is Kira? Besides, I don't need to prove anything, in case you haven't noticed yet, I happen to be the only detective in the world who could solve the BB case after many people tried, so I don't plan on letting you kill Light because of a misunderstanding" L responded

"There's always a first time for everything" Aizawa said pointing his gun at the youngest in the room "unless you have prove that he's not Kira, he's dead"

L and Light looked at each other, the brunette terrified "actually, I have prove" the detective said before walking oto his room, ripping the last written page of the Death Note and going back to the officers, handing it to them "this isn't Light's handwriting, and why on earth would he write his own name on it? Why would he want to kill himself by having a heart attack? That doesn't make sense" L explained

"And why would Misa want to kill you both? Especially Light, I thought she loved him" Matsuda pointed out

The lovers looked at each other, no one knew about them "because..." Light started, taking a couple of steps towards L and taking his hand "we're together" everyone looked at them in shock, Light and L were together? Since whnP How did that even happen? "We've been together since the confinement, but Misa found out two weeks ago"

"When you had the heart attack" chief Yagami mumbled and Light nodded

Everyone started to work again, but this time to find Misa. L and Light walked to L's room and closed the door "fuck... I love you kitten" the youngest said before kissing L "I can never thank you enough for this" he smiled

"Well, actually you can..." L replied walking to the desk and taking th Death Note, handing it to Light

The boy took it but hesitated "no... I- please, don't..." he begged "what if someone tries to hurt you?"

L smiled "well, then you'll have to protect me without a killer notebook" he held Light's hand and walked to the fireplace "you promised... you said you wouldn't kill anyone unless it was strictly necessary, and you've already killed that person" Light blinked "it was a murderer called Beyond-"

"Birthday..." the boy frowned "did he ever hurt you?"

L looked down "that's a long story... I'll tell you some other time" Light kissed his cheek softly and then looked at the fire... it was easy, but that Note brought him and L together, and he felt bad for even thinking about it "come on, we don't need this nor Kira to be happy, I know that  part of you will still be there somewhere, but I'll love it as long as it can't hurt anyone"

Light looked at the Death Note... they didn't need it anymore... he kised L and threw the Note to the fire, they both smiled as they watched the Death Note turn into ashes.

I FINALLY POSTED IT!!!!!! I WAS SUPPOSED TO POST IT ON CHRISTMAS AS A PRESENT FOR AkabaneKiira666 BUT I JUST LOVE PROCRASTINATING :)
