001 🪁 | A GUIDE TO COMBINING GIFS

I KNOW that not everyone has access to Photoshop (and that it can be a bit pricey) so here's a tutorial on how you can combine gifs on Photopea instead <3

The example I'll be taking u through is one I've previously made in Photoshop, so if the final result is just a little bit off▬that's why.

Please don't steal it or claim it as your own! It's a part of a gif I've made for gemma's johnny storm fic and I'll literally sob if I find out someone's taken it xx

i. ִֶָ˚⊹ STEP ONE !

Open up a new project on Photopea in whatever size you'd like▬I'll be using 500x199 for this example.

ii. ִֶָ˚⊹ STEP TWO !

Go to File ⇢ Open, and then select your two gifs of choice

**these are the ones I used**

iii. ִֶָ˚⊹ STEP THREE !

Ensure your two chosen gifs have the same amount of frames! This is super important▬I feel like I can't stress that enough. If one has more frames than the other, delete the extra frames until they have the same amount.

iv. ִֶָ˚⊹ STEP FOUR !

Select the tab with your first gif. From there, select Layer ⇢ Duplicate Into..., and then change the destination to be the blank project you created (mine was called icarus ). After you've done that, select OK.

v. ִֶָ˚⊹ STEP FIVE !

Return to your blank project and select the folder of your first gif. From there, select Edit ⇢ Transform ⇢ Scale and adjust the gif sizing until it looks how you want it to!

vi. ִֶָ˚⊹ STEP SIX !

Repeat Step Four and Step Five with your second gif.

vii. ִֶָ˚⊹ STEP SEVEN !

Select whichever gif is at the top of the layer channel (see below). From there, select Layer ⇢ Raster Mask ⇢ Add (Reveal All).

viii. ִֶָ˚⊹ STEP EIGHT !

A little white rectangle should appear on the gif group after Step Seven. Simply select it, and use the brush tool (with the colour set to black) to blend the two gifs together!

ix. ִֶָ˚⊹ STEP NINE !

If you've accidentally erased too much when blending, use the Eraser Tool (instead of the Brush Tool) to restore any part of the gif that you deem necessary (see below).

x. ִֶָ˚⊹ STEP TEN (OPTIONAL) !

Select Layer ⇢ New ⇢ Layer, and change the Blend Mode to Colour before using the Brush Tool to paint around the faceclaims.

xi. ִֶָ˚⊹ STEP ELEVEN !

Finally, to ensure your gifs play simultaneously on export (rather than one after the other), select whichever gif is at the top of your Layer Channel▬it should be the one with the Raster Mask▬and then select Layer ⇢ Animation ⇢ Merge in order to combine them.
