Advice for Apurva
Dear John... Hi again... This time I'm on a bit serious part. Sorry for that. So, here goes. I stay with me parents and have a job but yet am called a parasite and all those names I cant mention, because I earn less than both and still am a bit dependent on them. I have no say in anything and it frustrates me, but I cant speak out. And that has affected my attitude and lowered my confidence to almost zero. Because of which nowadays, even speaking on the phone to anyone terrifies me because of the suppression I suffer about talking. I'm in Sales job and it affects me a lot. Help please?
Dear Apurva,
I'm sorry about your parents. :(
I know a few ways to overcome your talking suppression.
First, try to talk to your parents about your dilemma and listen to what they have to say. Tell them how you feel and try to come to a compromise with them, like paying rent for staying with them (if you aren't already doing that.) This may cause them to be less harsh and more understanding of your situation.
Your difficulty talking with other people needs to be gotten under control before it jeopardizes your job. Perhaps you should talk to a close friend and open up about how you are feeling. They may have some encouraging words for you. Or, if things continue to get worse, you could consult a therapist and they may be able to help you.
I hope things get better for you! Know that I'm always hear if you need someone to talk to!
