✯ Chapter 1: Faith ✯
~7 AM~Monday~July 2, 2018 ( I use random dates )~
I remember this memory like it was yesterday. When I was in Pre-K, my parents would always say this before they left to work, "Honey, remember that you are lovely like roses and this is why we called you Rose." But now, they never do that anymore.
It was summer break and my parents were angered with me. They fussed at me for 1 hour and left to go to the hospital. I was home alone. They hated me because I made myself get kicked out of school. I didn't really care. Did I? I went over to write in my diary.
Dear Diary,
Why do people hate my race? I'm not Chinese! Yes, China is in Asia, and yes the race I am is Asian. But just because I'm Asian, doesn't mean I'm automatically Chinese!
Tears start to get on the page and the page starts to wrinkle a bit. I crumple the corner of the page with my fist and I continue writing.
Why is my life like this? My parents barely take care of me because they are traveling doctors and all I have at home are the servants. But all they do is bring my food. It's almost time for me to go to 3rd grade and every adult I know is scared of me. An 8-year-old trying to get kicked out of school. Oh, what do they care? They don't care about what other kids do to me. I can't wait for school to start. Yi-pee... Note the sarcasm there. Diary, you're my only friend.
The servant comes in and I close my diary quick and hide it somewhere. I run to the bay window, sit down, grab a book, and act like I'm reading the book.
"Ma'am you're breakfast is ready. Your parents want me to check on you every so often." the servant tells me.
"Ok. That's nice. Just put the breakfast on my nightstand." I tell her as I point to the nightstand. She looks like a new servant and she looks like she's in high school. Maybe 16?
She puts the breakfast on the nightstand and looks over to me. I catch her looking at me and I ask her, "You have a new face... Haven't been here before, have you? You're new aren't you..."
"Um... Yea. Do I have to call you ma'am because it's weird for me to call someone 8 years younger than me, ma'am?" She chuckles a bit and I look at her.
I laugh a bit. "You don't have to. It's nice to have a teen in this house. You must be weirded out by the fact that some of these servants are scared of an 8-year-old like me."
"Yea I kinda am. I mean seriously what could be so scary about you? I heard you've been kicked out of school though..."
"Yea. Then you must've heard that I get bullied at school all the time. Oh, wait! YOU DON'T. Because NONE OF THESE ADULTS CARE ABOUT ME."
"Calm down. My name is Faith. I always have faith in everything. So you should have a little bit of faith too."
I smile at her and say, "I like you. You actually care about me. I think that we could be friends. How about you?"
"I think so too. But I'm bored. Wanna have a sleepover party? I can tell the other servants that it's ma'am's orders!"
"Yea! Let's have a party! Meet me in the kitchen at around 8 PM?"
"Sure! I'll meet you then. See you around, kid."
"See you around, Faith."
She leaves and shuts the door. I smile and go back to my reading.
