27: Boom
"Keep firing, mignonette... shoot them all down. Those new weapons of yours seem to be holding up nicely." Bernadotte radioed up to her. "The Harkonnen II 30 millimeter semi-automatic cannon. It has a maximum range of 4000 meters and weighs a total of 345 kilograms. It's such an incredible piece of equipment... when it's in your vampire hands, of course, mignonette."
"Bernadotte. Would you kindly stop calling me that? My name is Seras." Your sister had never been one for nicknames. She hardly put up with you and Alucard, let alone colleagues.
The man laughed as he finished up yet another braid in your hair. "My sincerest apologies, mignonette! Let us avenge London and kill every last one of them, eh?!" You cheered as Bernadotte laughed harder. Several more shots were fired before he spoke again. "Can you see London?"
"Yes, I can see it!" Seras responded "Picadilly, Soho, and the Covent Garden are all reduced to ashes. London... has become a synonym for hell."
"I've never liked London. Have you?" He asked you.
"No! It's dreary and dreadful and boring!"
"It's an old city and I don't fit in here. But the cabaret that the Geese and I went to on the weekends served cold, tasty beers. That old bartender would constantly gossip and act like a fool. He was alright, of course. The hookers at the spring lodge hotel were all greedy for money and typically a bunch of ugly cows. But still, they always took good care of us. I feel sorry for those tramps." He was reminiscing now. "Do you have anyone you might miss, petite poupée?"
"Nope! I hope every last one of those orderlies, doctors and my ex-husband's family get eaten alive and wasted!" You laughed manically as you practically felt Seras rolling her eyes.
"There was a granny barmaid at the cafe on Barnaby street... would always bring me fish and chips that I didn't order. She just served them to me because she saw me as a foreigner, and therefore thought I should try the English specialty. Each time I told her that I couldn't eat it because it's too greasy for my tastes and each time I ended up eating it all anyway, so as not to disappoint the lady." He let out a puff of smoke and you crinkled your nose. "I don't like London. But the bartender, the hookers and the lady at the cafe... none of them had anything to do with this battle. The war, Nazi and vampires were all irrelevant in their eyes. That bastard major, Section 13, the Letzte Battalion and Hellsing... Those names were completely meaningless to a bunch of innocents like them. Now they're all dead and being feasted upon by the dead." He bit down on his lit cigarette and you cringed. "I just... I can't stand it! Seras! Let's exact our revenge. We've got to slaughter 'em without mercy. We'll make those Nazi fucks regret the day they were reborn."
"Yeah. I agree." Seras was sickened to her very core. She would make them pay. All of them. "I agree captain. Let's do this!"
"Target: The enemy's flying dreadnought! Prepare to fire cannons!" A pause, "Fire!"
The boom rattled the whole building and you almost fell over. And the booms kept coming.
