Chapter 17
The next couple of weeks go by in a flash. The incident was forgotten around school after a few days, but Jungkook still catches himself thinking about it.
He can't believe he just let Jungwoo touch him like that. It was idiotic of him, and Jungkook knows he could've pushed him off but he didn't. And that's what bothers him.
He's voiced these thoughts to Taehyung and Hoseok, but they always tell him that it's okay because he was in shock.
Taehyung also had apologized profusely for not being there when he was supposed to be. He had to talk with his teacher about an assignment. Jungkook didn't accept his apology because he didn't need it. Like he said to Hoseok, he couldn't have known it was going to happen. It was no one's fault, but Jungwoo's.
Ever since then, Hoseok hasn't really left his side. When the elder couldn't be with him, Taehyung was with him. Well, Taehyung is always with Jungkook, but most of the time he's on protect mode.
Jungkook appreciates their efforts. It's also kinda nice that he gets to spend more time with Hoseok. He started sitting with him and Taehyung at lunch, too. Sometimes Tae would stay, but other times he'd make up some wild excuse to leave the two alone.
He doesn't feel like a third wheel, or anything, though. He just wants the two to get together. He wants Jungkook to be happy.
And Jungkook is happy.
Ever since their first kiss, they've been clingy with each other. It's not the overly annoying clinginess. It's more of the honeymoon phase type of clingy.
They kiss a lot whenever the chance presents itself. Just soft, sweet kisses mostly. Sometimes it's an innocent kiss, just their lips pressed together unmoving. Other times it's an actual kiss, but no tongue.
Once, they were behind the school building during their free period. Obviously, some making out was done. Hoseok had swiped his tongue along Jungkook's lip, causing the younger to pull back quickly.
Hoseok has immediately apologized for it, but Jungkook brushes it off.
"It's fine, hyung. I mean it. But, uh..." Jungkook had turned red in the face as he looked down at their sneakers.
"You're not ready for tongue, yet? That's okay, baby. We'll take it slow. We've got all the time in the world."
The words made Jungkook smile and his heart beat a little quicker. He can't believe someone like Hoseok chose him. He could have anyone he wanted in the school (Jungkook knows this. He hears people talk about Hoseok all the time), but nope. He chose Jungkook, and the younger will forever be grateful.
The pair began going on more dates after school and on weekends. Taehyung had complained that Hoseok was taking his best friend away, but he couldn't be happier for the two.
Presently, Jungkook and Hoseok were on Hoseok's couch watching a movie. They were cuddled up with a bowl of popcorn between them. Jungkook wasn't really paying attention to the movie, though. He had some things on his mind.
The last couple of weeks have been absolutely amazing, Jungkook can't deny that. He loves feeling like this and he's sure Hoseok feels the same way. But something has been on his mind for the last three days now.
Are they boyfriends?
Like, are they together together? Are they just dating? What is their label?
Jungkook knows sometimes labels don't matter, but he's never not put a label on anything. He labeled all the containers in the pantry, he labeled the boxes they have in the garage, he's labeled all his tabs for schoolwork, and he's even labeled Taehyung's drawer in his room (Taehyung has a habit of wearing his underwear).
Jungkook was pulled out of his thoughts by Hoseok.
"Huh?" Jungkook blinked up at him. He heard the elder talking but didn't make out any words.
"I said, are you okay? You look out of it." Hoseok had turned the TV down.
Jungkook sat up straight and fixed his glasses. He sighed as he wrung his hands together.
"What are we?" Jungkook blurred out.
And, okay, this is happening.
Hoseok blanches for a second because what? What are they?
"What do you mean?" Hoseok asked, confused.
"I mean, what are we. Are we boyfriends or are we still just dating?"
"Ohhh, I see. I don't care much for labels, but I kind of assumed we were already boyfriends. Should I have asked you?"
Jungkook laughs nervously. "Well, I don't know much about relationships, but most of the time someone asks."
"Oh. Well, then," Hoseok took Jungkook's hands into his and the younger looked at him. Hoseok looked him in the eyes with all the adoration in the world, and Jungkook can't handle it. "Jungkook, will you please officially be my boyfriend?"
Jungkook smiles wide, his cute teeth on full display, and nods. "Yes, I will be your boyfriend."
-
The next time they had a movie night, it was at Jungkook's house. His parents were out for the night, and won't return until late.
However, instead of watching the movie, the two decided to make out. The movie had got boring, and this was Jungkook's idea.
Jungkook was in Hoseok's lap, kissing him with fervor. His hands tangled in the elder's hair, messing it up. Hoseok's hands stayed firm on Jungkook's waist and the younger felt hot from his touch.
There was still no tongue, but neither of them minded. Content to just have each other close. The front door had soon opened, but neither of the teens noticed.
Jungkook's parents had removed their shoes, talking and laughing quietly, thinking their son was asleep. Their date was nice, they ate and got a little drunk. They were going to go dancing, but Jungkook's mom had started complaining her feet were hurting, so they decided to return early.
They pass by the living room, only to pause in their steps. They slowly turn to the two figures, still kissing like their life depended on it.
Jungkook's mom knows about Hoseok, but has never met him and doesn't know he and Jungkook were, apparently, a thing. His dad vaguely remembers a Hoseok, but he assumes this is the guy kissing his son because he knows it's not Taehyung.
Jungkook's mom smiles widely, but something was off about it. Her husband rolled his eyes because he knows that look.
"Yah! Jeon Jungkook! This is not how I wanted to meet your boyfriend! I raised you better!"
The two pulled apart lightning quick, which made Jungkook fall off of Hoseok's lap. He sat up before anyone could ask if he's all right.
"What are you doing home so early?! It's barely 11!" Jungkook's face was flushed red from kissing and embarrassment.
Mrs. Jeon rolls her eyes. "Don't sass your mother. It's rude, especially in front of guests. Now, introduce us!"
Jungkook groans inwardly. He loves his mom, he really does, but not right now. This is such a bad first impression and Jungkook hates everything.
Hoseok stands and makes his way to his parents. Jungkook followed closely behind.
"Mom, dad this is Hoseok... my boyfriend."
Hoseok bowed to them with a smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you both. Also, I apologize you had to see me all over your son like that." Hoseok scratches the back of his neck nervously.
Mrs. Jeon laughs at that, "Oh, nonsense! It looked like Jungkook was all over you, if anything! Did he let you come out for air?"
"Mom! Dad, get your wife!" Jungkook was impeccably red to the tips of his ears. He couldn't believe this was happening. And, his dad is just standing there and letting it and- wait. Is that a smile on his dad's face? This is amusing him?
"Okay, honey, I think you've embarrassed Kookie enough for tonight." Mr. Jeon takes his wife's hand and guides her to the stairs.
Halfway to the top, Jungkook's dad looks back at them. "Say, Hoseok, why don't you come over for dinner tomorrow night. We could have better first impressions, then."
He doesn't wait for Hoseok's answer. Not that it was really a question, though. That's how his dad is. He makes questions into demands, so Hoseok didn't have a choice.
Jungkook lets out a breath of relief when he hears their bedroom door shut. He turns to his boyfriend, who is looking amused.
"I'm sorry you had to meet my parents like that. They're both drunk and embarrassing. You probably hate me now."
Hoseok laughs. Loud and boisterous. He actually found the whole thing entertaining. If Jungkook's mom was like this when drunk, he can only imagine her sober.
"Baby, it's fine. Your parents seem nice. I like them." Hoseok pulls Jungkook close, his hands settling on the younger's waist.
Jungkook looks up at him with a small pout. "Really?"
"Really."
Hoseok kisses him softly, and that has Jungkook smiling into the kiss. They pulled apart.
"You should get home. It's late." Jungkook says, but doesn't move.
"I should." Hoseok doesn't move either.
After several moments, they both laugh at their clinginess. Jungkook walks Hoseok to the door.
"So, see you tomorrow?" Hoseok asked.
Jungkook nods. "Yeah. I'll text you about dinner. Drive safe, okay?"
"I will."
With one last kiss, they parted ways.
